William A. Wellman’s as Chuck Harm is such an incredibly funny and very inside baseball joke for people way too into horror podcasts. Of course they’d be the guy bearing witness to the horrors and narrating them to a watching audience. Who else could you possibly cast in that role.

anyway i watched this tonight. very interesting cause it really shows how much of a performance is made or broken by its cast as well as its direction, comparing it to the 2017 aix performance. there's a couple of small things in there that aren't in the other one that i like but also a lot of small things in the other that aren't in here that i think make it a whole lot better acting wise. although i probably have to give some credit as well to the cinematographers and video editors here too since obv i'm seeing both performances thru recordings rather than live and the difference in recording quality is huge, with the other one being. probably the best shot and edited video of a theatrical production i've ever seen, and this one being. well not that. mostly static wide shots with a few medium close ups with zooms/pans and nothing in particularly high def. but my overall impression of this one isn't nearly as "holy shit" as the other one. which as you may know grips my brain like a stress ball
