Hey, I'm Orbit! This all just a big mess of whatever I may be interested in. My only consistancy is spreading the gospel of Animorphs. Go read Animorphs. Currently making my way through critical role campaign two, I'd love to chat about it but no spoilers please!

There's a very particular target audience where all they need to know about a piece of media to go all in on it is that there's a girl who has this exact specific smile:
#I’d say the presence of this type increases my interest in anything a good 85%.#girls that smile like that are A Thing for me in a fav#Rachel Animorphs comes to mind#Asuka from Eva as well#Arguably Nott the Brave#I like a girl who is maybe 3 steps away from a violent breakdown

you will miss this in 40 or 48 hours. twitter will smooth your brain down like a river stone, and you will find yourself longing for a social media platform that hasn't meaningfully changed in a decade. you don't know I'm posting about you in real time bc Sarah has timestamps switched off. I'm not dead, Grant. Grant, let me out of the casket. Graaaant,

it's always darkly funny to me when people go on at length about how C3 is the most complex and nuanced campaign that the rest of us are simply Not Getting because it hurts our feelings or sensibilities or whatever and one of the bullet points is that it is "challenging the history and tradition of imperialism in D&D and fantasy" and I'm like in a campaign that does not engage with its Asian-inspired continent as a place instead of merely as set dressing after the prior campaign very much engaged with ITS largely European-inspired continental setting as a place?

saw a tweet about how we're looking to deep into chetney's actions and basically "he's an old man it's not that serious" and it's like...once again people are diminishing chetney's actions purely because he's old and a "joke" character. they did this for most of the campaign saying chetney was just a weird creep to fearne, ignoring all the lovely interactions because some people are obsessed with chetney just being Old. that's the only aspect of him some people see. "he knows he's gonna die soon, that's why he's doing this. it's not heroic." okay. but do you realize chetney going on what he considers a suicide mission, using himself as a shield (protecting imogen in 117, orym in 118, fearne and imogen in 118) because he thinks he's going to die soon is still...heroic? compelling? "it's not that deep" if any other character stepped in front of what is called a god eater, with a hand out, to stop them from touching fearne and imogen, i would see twelve paragraph essays on this site about what a hero they are. chetney loves his friends. he cares about them deeply. he is funny and he is old but that is not the basis of what he is. throughout the campaign he has shown different ways of caring for the team, different ways of helping them and some of you still don't see it at all and it's really sad because he's such a good character
#Thank you…#cr spoilers#Critical role#cr3#chetney pock o'pea#he will always be the standout of this campaign to me

it's always interesting the recurring sentiments in a lot of fandoms, but most currently Dragon Age and Critical Role, of "if [dramatic and destructively cataclysmic action] doesn't happen, then nothing has changed, in fact change was fought and stopped" — and every time, it is being ignored that the state of affairs has very much changed over the course of the narrative, just in different and often more subtle and less dramatically violent ways (even then, often equally dramatically violent ways)

Of course the episode I finally catch up with Unend on is the one with the biggest cliffhanger of the series so far…

You’ve actually managed to hit the nail on the head of why I’ve occasionally felt that his work as Veth in various live shows has felt shallower then some other player’s post-canon character work. The thing about this style of retroactive depth layered over jokes is that it really benefits from long-form styles of storytelling which allow for running jokes to build up and for Sam to step back and look at them and say “ok these ones are what I’ll use to make everyone cry.” It’s a multi-step process, so during one-shots you only get the first step of the improved jokes. It also leaves more onus on fan-interpretation during the oneshots; without Sam, it’s the listener that gets to decide which of the jokes that he tosses out we’ll take seriously.
you know, i think sam does often just throw out chaotic comments he thought up on the fly while he's playing, especially when he's revisiting veth in her post-canon appearances, but i also think sam is very much the kind of player to roll with what he says and make concrete character beats out of them afterward. he did this during the main campaign with veth's fear of water--that was just a bit played for jokes initially that he decided had some meat to it and asked to incorporate it into her backstory, which he did very well and to great effect. so i think when he says something lowkey insane in the post-canon oneshots etc., i always have that in mind. like yeah, there's a high likelihood that he just thought this insane thing up in the moment with no pre-planning, but it also does not mean that it can't be a significant thing he may focus on in the future. absolute crap shot with this guy (affectionate). leaves a lot of character possibilities open, though

(WIP for "botw2" project)
perhaps we are getting somewhere with this ganondorf design after all ............. the patterns have been taking me forever and are far from done, i want to incorporate the colorful flower petal-ish design of the botw gerudo but still make him look different and more practical
