highlighting some of the more "these ppl understood the post" contributions in the tags & replies
bc some other ppl don't seem to understand the difference between loan words (usually happen bc there is no word for the thing/it is a new concept (ex most languages adopting the word "computer" from english (the french being one of the few exceptions who insisted on translating it to "ordinateur"), ex "Schadenfreude" being adopted from german into english) adding to a language's diversity by introducing cultural exchange & new concepts) and what I called "infiltrating" other languages and what linguistness above called "invasive" (replacing existing common place words and local slang with foreign words unnecessarily (ex french streamer calling his viewers "viewers" instead of translating such a simple word into french (= what made me make this goddamn post to begin with)) reducing the diversity and erasing parts of the historical and cultural context of that language with a word from a language that holds way more soft power in the world, in this case english)
you are not being anti-fascist or pro-diversity by defending the anglocentrist globalisation happening to the non-english-speaking world, I'm sorry to burst your bubble, this has gone far beyond loan words and you'd know that if you listened to non-native-english-speakers about it
if you want fascists to fight, tumblr ain't the website you're looking for
and if you want stats to illustrate why we're talking about english specifically, well lemme show you some of the stats I come across when looking at internet fandom media (which we non-native-english-speakers participate in) subjects like the language and country of origin of fandoms that make the yearly AO3 ship rankings f.e.:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
you know english infiltrating other languages due to the internet has become a problem when even the french are doing it

i just kind of hate how every time someone is writing a female character, there is far more scrutiny on whether she is “good” representation. like no one ever writes a male character and is like “hmm… is this good representation for men?” because they’re ALLOWED to be written as smart or stupid, or serious or funny, or sensitive or mean, or loud or quiet, or competent or irrational, or jovial or angry, or wise or inexperienced, or pathetic or badass, or good or evil, or complex or one-dimensional. and they will ALWAYS be loved in some shape or form.
but the MOMENT a woman is any one of those things (even tho women irl can ALL have these traits), there are video essays and entire blogs and articles dedicated to Why That’s Not A Good Woman. and like YES, good female representation is important. i acknowledge and agree with that to hell and back. but god damn let these writers breathe. no one is ever going to want to write women again if we shove these impossible standards down their throats.

edit: for clarification i don't really expect ppl to be giving out the name of the hospital or their address. if you read closely and carefully it asks how do you interpret the question not the answer you would give. meaning do you associate the question where you were born as the literal place you were extracted or shot out from the womb or as where you grew up. there's also no real difference between city and state etc bc where i live states aren't a thing.

Good Omens fan: hey, I like good omens. It's a cool queer tv show and I hope season 3 goes ahead
Someone: you like good omens? So you're a rape apologist? You support Neil Gaiman? You deserve to die
Good Omens fan: ???

Wow, you really said leave the pedophile rapist alone and let her have the W, huh? Way to do absolutely nothing and then proceed to make it worse. I bet you're another Fennec.
No I just don't think that bitching about how bad she is at Pokèmon is really the hill any of us should be dying on.

if one more person says "Disability metaphor? It's not even a metaphor lol! They just explicitly have ADHD/dyslexia!" in the tags of that one post im gonna start biting.
1. If you read the word "metaphor" and presumed I was referring to something that is not a metaphor and that you are identifying is not a metaphor... perhaps you have assumed what I was talking about incorrectly. Perhaps when I said metaphor. I was referring. To actual metaphors.
2. If you think there are no disability metaphors in the PJO series outside of just all of the demigod characters explicitly having adhd/dyslexia, then a.) you dont know what a metaphor is and b.) you are the exact type of person I was making a joke about in that post.
anyways here's my post going into most of the major disability metaphors outside of just demigods being adhd/dyslexic.

hey! the linked post in your pinned is full of what would be considered proship stuff (and in the pinned post on your alt (the anti censorship anti harrassment stuff). if thats ur stance that makes you a proshipper and thats fine but dont pretend ur not
YOU ARE MISSING THE ENTIRE POINT OF THE POST. LEARN TO READ. USE YOUR BRAIN AND CONSIDER THAT NOT EVERYTHING IS BLACK AND WHITE. MOST THINGS ARE NOT. ESPECIALLY SOMETHING AS COMPLEX AS HUMAN EXPRESSION. FUUUUCK

On election day, I published a "go vote" post to my cat blog and people are still liking it, which ok, whatever, but they are also still reblogging it. Still! The election is super over. What is going on? I mean, it's a cute picture of my cat but it's still just weird to reblog a plea to vote a whole lifetime after the election. Like, we voted. That is a thing that happened. It's over. We're in the trumpocalypse now. It is the worst timeline. This was a post with a clear time limit and frankly, it's sus to reblog it.

TW SA/pedophilia
You know how some people talk about the character's ages and how there should be No Smut involving them at all? I've seen this take a few times on Twitter and TikTok (yeah, not a surprise). And while I could tell this was coming from a puritan pov and I should just ignore that shit, it always made me feel a lot worse than I expected
Because I don't usually care that much about what people are saying, I enjoy what I enjoy and I know who I am. That's that.
Now it happened again and I realized it was triggering me. The feeling in my chest and the absolute mood drop and everything else was coming from the implication those people make: that if you enjoy smut fics/arts with teenage characters, you're a pedophile. Not even gonna go into the whole ghost's age thing because that's not the point.
I've been SAd from 8 to 18 and have been in therapy for years and I can't believe a fucking tweet is unknowingly comparing me to my abuser. Can't believe I didn't process that before either. And now I'm just pissed. They are just throwing that out there as if they're fighting SA while actively making things worse for actual victims. Fuck that, fuck this
(not anyone that I've seen here, though, Tumblr is lovely and more nuanced than most places)

existing in the world is full of so many little situations where you have to forgive people who love you for doing things that are silly and careless and that hurt your feelings and that is so hard to do if you are coming at life from like, a background of only interacting with people who do not have your well being at heart.

I don't understand why fans in general are always so against critical analysis & always try to defend characters whenever someone points out bad writing. Bsd fans have huge issue like that I'm glad you're so vocal about dazai character writing tho cause lots of people just avoid it due to his fans taking it so personal
I think it’s mainly an issue of people not properly tagging their posts, so that when people search their favorite characters, they find negativity instead of the positive content they were hoping for. It makes sense why that would be annoying— but in the end of the day it’s everyone’s job to curate their own internet experience.
I tag all of my negative posts with #anti dazai, so it’s pretty easy for a person to just block that tag (or block this account), and so most people don’t have a problem with me. I’ve only run into any sort of problem with two separate tumblr users in the past (one of which is pretty infamous in these bsd tumblr circles)— so from my end of things, I don’t really see all the people getting angry about character-critical content. I know it’s out there, I personally just don’t come across it very often.
I also block very liberally, so that might be a contributing factor to why I don’t see that side of the fandom. But either way.
I’m glad you’re enjoying this blog!! For any given piece of media there will be positive aspects and negative aspects, and everyone can and should feel free to talk as much as they want about both sides. There also isn’t a single right answer— meaning one person could find a character to be written in a very compelling way and someone else can find the character writing shallow— neither person is wrong, so long as they can justify their opinions with textual evidence.
The only time a media interpretation is wrong is when it’s entirely made up. And I don’t mean “this person read the text and came away with a different conclusion than me,” I mean “this person is directly contradicting the text and is giving no reasons for why they might think the text is lying.” There’s always the concept of an unreliable narrator, but on tumblr, the website that’s infamous for lacking any sort of Reading Comprehension… yeah you’re not gonna get the brilliant literary debates everyone’s hoping for.
