I really wish there were more Pirates of the Caribbean fanfics with Pirate King! Elizabeth.

Currently reading pirates of the Caribbean fanfics and some of the stories post 3rd movie where Elizabeth stays king instead of retiring to live quietly on land has me thinking a few things.

In those fics she very much keep the titles of Pirate King, wife of the current captain of the Flying Dutchman in the minds of those she interacts with while raising Henry among pirates.

I'm just thinking how funny it would be if a pirate captain who is new to the area and has no clue of Henry's parentage thought he was just a cabin boy of Sparrow's crew and threatened him since Jack was babysitting for a couple of hours and Elizabeth heard.

She'd be able to tell the newcomer "I'll be generous and let you live this one time , but if I ever hear you threaten my son again I'll will kill you myself and make sure it's over water so when my husband comes to collect your soul you can explain to him why I killed you."

・Your wife was very honest about him (because you swore to each other to always tell the truth, no matter how much it may hurt the other).

・When you saw Jack in the flesh, he took your hand and kissed the back of it. It ... was on the verge of sleezy you couldn't deny. But he redeemed himself later that day by saving your life (okay well, he was the one to put you in harm's way ... but at least he got you out of it...)

・Whenever Jack tries to pull you into his escapades, Elizabeth is always there to shut it down.

"She's mine, Sparrow. Go get your own wife."

"Ohh, wife... I see it. My apologies..."

・Elizabeth is a fierce partner. She will always stand by your side, ready to support you and protect you no matter what.

・Even though Elizabeth does love being around you, she is a free spirit. The adventures she goes on, she asks if you want to come along but never makes you.

i finally cracked the code on my person interpretation of jack-elizabeth. allow alder to indulge in a midnight ramble.

for me, it's the metaphor. how elizabeth is constrained by societal rules and regulations, and the INSTANT jack shows up BOOM- she's playing the pirate game now. she's offered a tantalizing glimpse of the thing jack himself embodies- freedom.

we even see that after CotPB, she does not hesitate in using pirate tactics to get what she wants- such as letters of marque for will (aka, freedom-).

which makes elizabeth leave jack to the kraken interesting. she allows freedom embodied to be locked up, and almost instantly joins the team in getting him back.

not to mention that jack is the one who voted her in as King. elizabeth swann has been longing for freedom, and freedom himself grants her power- even over himself, if you will, but that's the thing-

jack's not one to let anybody control him. just like how elizabeth uses the power he gave her against him, he's not going to just accept that he technically answers to someone now.

also that scene in the locker where jack freezes as soon as he sees elizabeth. and immediately scampers over to gibbs, who confirms that yes, this is all real. elizabeth- the one who left him for dead- is real. there's something to be said there about freedom something something i am not able to articulate it atm rip

i'm not into the romantic interpretation of their relationship myself, but i get why people are. me tho i wanna study this weird, wacky, fucked-up friendship under a microscope. for science. it's an aro thing, i suspect.
