Random question but, do you have any VPN or similar privacy recs?? Poor and trying to get into media piracy and torrenting, but I'm kind of sus of google search results' reviews, and sites like Spyware Watchdog don't have sections for things like VPNs and email providers yet.. Guess I'm willing to shell out some dollars for a decent VPN, but I'm poor enough to be scared of it being a waste if they're not as legit as they say. Asking you because you seem pretty Tech Savvy and cool.

tldr Windscribe or Proton VPN. paying a lil bit is worth the peace of mind as far as torrenting goes.

I mostly go 2 reddit for recs specifically from piracy ppl, but I can personally recommend Windscribe. it's Abt 9 bucks a month and pays for itself ez it you're torrenting a lot. they also let u earn free gigs of data n shit-- I think u get a free allowance just on signup.

howeva, if u would like to explore more of ur options I recommend looking specifically at forums/reddit/somewhere where there's genuine user feedback n not articles (they're all just affiliate links.) SomeOrdinaryGamers I think also has a VPN rec video up some place maybe n his judgement is always excellent. u want something that doesn't keep logs mainly.

that being said, the ultimate privacy wet dream that a lot of VPN companies/bad internet users try to sell you is a farce. if u truly truly want anonymity it requires a lot moar stupid inconvenient bullshit that I cannot even begin 2 explain here..</3 it's very hard to be private anymore, especially on the technological side of things. everything is tracking u all the time.

one thing u can do immediately today for free is look your name up on Google and public data aggregators like spokeo/pipl/etc to find where your personal information may be and request it to be taken down. and most importantly -- use different usernames as much as possible, don't leave breadcrumb trails between different "spheres" of your life. 99% of doxxing takes place via Whitepages n hyperfocused social media combing.

BUT! for basic media acquisition (ARRRRR).... Windscribe or perhaps Proton VPN should be all u need 2 avoid maximum legal death at the hands of mega media corporations.

p.s look into TOR n alternative operating systems if u really wanna become as private as possible.
