7. Non-con/Taboo ship

See, this one is really hard. I'm not exactly sure what classifies as a non-con or taboo ship. If I say Wu Erbai and Er Jing (TLTR)? Lord, that is a wild idea that I saw only a couple times, but I feel like if anyone, they classify as a taboo ship. But idk, to be honest.

9. Wish-was-endgame ship

Oh man, I have so many! But lemme just pick one. Hmm… let's go with Pingxiesang? Because like, I really liked their interactions and I just- I really love them. And we didn't even see Liu Sang at the end of Reunion!! And I was like what?? Seriously? Even though he really warmed up to the Iron Triangle and was literally accepted into their group. And we never even learned what happened to him after the story was over and I was just really annoyed by that. So yeah, I really wish Pingxiesang, even if just as a platonic ship, appeared at the end and showed that they care about each other.

Sounds of spoken words echo around Wu Xie; a rough touch makes him gasp without air. There’s the taste of blood in his mouth, and all of this is so fucking, terrifyingly familiar that the urge to scream only grows. He doesn’t want to be back here, he refuses.

I really loved everyone's reactions to the stabbing. Especially Wu Xie and Xiaoge. The way they were all reminded of when Wu Xie was dying of lungs and dealing with it (or not dealing with it) in different ways. It gave me a lot of feelings.

@tazzy-ace I don't know if the order ir right, there was a meaning before about how a ship is named, but I think now we can just agree with what sounds better? Hyde is old monkey (in Arrow's words) in fandoms, so he still remembers things we barely are aware of (I didn't call the man 'old', except that I did).

I do agree with ZhaoXie and ShenXie, both sounds very good and we need something to stop writing their whole names 😂😂😂

But I have a doubt: In DMBJ, we have PingXie. When Liu Sang joins the ship, usually I see it as PingXieSang - So, following its logic, if we already have Weilan, when Wu Xie joins the ship, what happens? Is different because he's not from the same Universe?

@aindarayshin is a true hero for naming the rarepair (#number 1, the starter of the chaos, ZhaoXie).

They prayed that the child had somehow survived, but seven days without food or water for an adult would have been deadly, a child had no chances of survival at all. // They found Wu Xie deep in the tomb, sleeping on his little backpack. He was warm and healthy, confused at why the adults were yelling, looking like he’d just stepped into the tomb five minutes ago.

Today is wiiiiiild, so have some more qipao!Liu Sang.

After the whatever-it-was that Liu Sang was undercover for, after he meets the iron triangle, after they fold him into their lives (and some of their beds), Liu Sang still performs from time to time. Sure, he’d initially established his ~singing career~ as part of his cover, but he genuinely enjoyed it, not in the least the audience’s genuine enjoyment of him.

Anyway. Liu Sang. Occasionally doing three night sets. Advertised well in advance, always packed. Carefully designed wardrobe for each round of shows. (He totally has a bit of a cult following who track his outfits, try to recreate/pay homage to them, etc.) Usually, he shows up separately from Wu Xie and Xiaoge.

The first night Liu Sang will make eyes at Wu Xie and Xiaoge as they dance together to Liu Sang’s low croon. The second night he will approach them in person, flirt heavily, and conspicuously leave by himself. The third night, well, the third night usually ends with Liu Sang leaving the dressing room towards the end of the evening with faded lipstick (never smeared, nothing so déclassé) and a single lock of hair falling from their perfect curls. The flush is high in his cheeks. Xiaoge and Wu Xie trail out of the dressing room after him, and when he slips one toweringly high heel off to stretch his foot, Xiaoge sweeps him up to carry him out of the club, while Wu Xie carries his heels like a war trophy.

The weibo account that is most known for tracking his outfits (is this how weibo works? Or would it be a topic? I have read things but remain unclear. Anyway, run with it. Social media tracks his clothes.) notes when he repeats outfits, later tracking different elements that he recombines to create entirely new effects. Yes, he often incorporates new things, lovely dresses and hats and flowing jumpsuits and neat little feminine suits, but he’s not entirely profligate. There is joy in rewearing something delightful, whose quirks and beauties he already knew, that is different from debuting something new. However, the Social Medias do, in fact, notice that there are some outfits that only appear once. Well, at least only appear once in public.

And then there’s the cape. This cape.

He usually wears it over his dress on the way to the club, possibly doing a full “Grandma. It’s me, Anastasia” Obi Wan Kenobi style shoulder fling when he gets on stage. This night, though, maybe night two of the three night set, when he’s flirting with Wu Xie and Xiaoge at the bar but goes home alone (where, of course, they are waiting).

After the show, after he’s danced with each of them once, he retreats to his dressing room to prepare to leave. He emerges, hair down a little more but still impeccably styled, ensconced in this cape. He allows them each to buy him a drink, and he perches on a stool with them flanking him, flirting lightly, playing as if they hadn’t woken up together that morning. He leaves them each with a lipstick-red kiss on the cheek, plus, unusually, a little gift bag.

“For you,” he says, “Open it before you leave.”

He floats out, greeting fans as he walks by, clearly moving but not rushing. Wu Xie pays the bill, while Xiaoge sorts through tissue paper. Wu Xie can see out of the corner of his eye when Xiaoge freezes, then peers in the bag himself. It’s a small, neatly folded bundle of silk that Wu Xie takes a heartbeat to recognize as the qipao Liu Sang has been wearing that night. Also included are the silk panties that Xiaoge had slid up his legs just a few hours before. They both track Liu Sang, who has just reached the stairs by the door. He gathers his cape to avoid tripping, showing off one stockinged ankle and his dangerously high heels.

“So he was sitting here, that whole time, wearing nothing underneath that cape but his stockings and garter,” Wu Xie murmurs. Xiaoge doesn’t bother saying anything in reply, just hauls Wu Xie by the wrist out the door as fast as possible.

Xiaoge: intensely goal-oriented. Wu Xie: totally the one to love the idea of taking Liu Sang out to dinner after a show one night, bare under his cape, resting a hand high on his thigh, with only a slip of silk between them. Wu Xie enjoys the *possibility* of doing something, well, not just as much as the actual doing, but it’s a spicy little side dish to the main event.

A cute idea that grew and grew and grew.

Partnership: Finding the Right Scent Evan Buckley/Eddie Diaz 911 Sentinel Fusion AU Guide Evan Buckley and Sentinel Eddie Diaz navigate through their life as firefighters and a mostly bonded pair. If only Buck could solve his Sentinel's last sense issue there might be the sweet smell of success… This was so much fun to figure out, there's so much Sentinel fanon out there

Consorts and Traditions Moon/Jade The Books of the Raksura by Martha Wells Stone helps a young consort with some thoughts about tradition. Moon teaches children how to fish. A slice of life story after the series....

When the Rain Provides PingXieSang DMBJ The tomb, a monster, a storm and a secluded cabin refuge. Wu Xie just wanted to take Liu Sang for a nice visit to simple a tomb. This was little more than he'd bargained for. The beginning of the saga - hopefully editing of pt 3 will begin soon. I really love the world-building in this.

The Carp That Got Away - Kenren/Tenpou Saiyuki Gaiden Kenren hijacks everyone for a day out of the Palace. A little fic for a little fandom but I was so pleased with the way this came out....

Okay, let's see. I'm going to try and pick some older ones too even though I've improved as a writer as I've gone along. Otherwise it's all going to be DMBJ fics.

Juxtaposition (DMBJ, Wang Pangzi/Wu Xie/Zhang Qiling) Wu Xie doesn't think life can get much better than this. He gets to use his architecture degree to design buildings for a living and he gets to work with the love of his life who helps make his designs a reality. He's certainly not going to let something small like an attempted mugging disrupt his world. The mysterious man who saved him, on the other hand… This fic is still the one I am most proud of, for the sheer length and the fact that it's an AU which I don't normally write. It's not even close to being my most popular DMBJ fic but it's the one I love the most

And There's That Pesky Thing Called Reality (Supernatural RPF AU, Jared Padalecki/Jensen Ackles) Jared wishes he had the life of Sam and Dean Winchester but unfortunately they are fictional characters in a series of books. Instead he's stuck working at the library with only his imagination for company. When he breaks his leg in an accident his life goes from mundane to just plain boring, until he finds himself in posession of a computer. Pretty soon he's fully immersed in the crazy world of Supernatural fandom. It's just lucky for him he has resident BNF Jensen to hold his hand through it all. Now if they could just get over the fact that Jared thinks Jensen is a girl everything would be awesome. This fic has not dated well but if you want a time capsule of what online fandom was like in 2010 then this is it. I had a lot of fun writing this one.

Unexpected (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Buffy/Spike) Set some time after Fool For Love. Buffy finds help in a surprising place. This is the first fic I ever published, so if you read it keep that in mind. It's definitely not good but it's important to me because it set me off on my fic journey. And, you know, props to teen!Hils for diving straight in and posting a 15k fic instead of starting with something short

Staring Into Open Flame (Check Please, Alexei Mashkov/Kent Parson) Never let it be said that Kent Parson ever does what he should. Once again my rarepair loving brain took over and gave me this little fic. I really enjoyed writing Kent. He's a very complex dude and it was fun to explore that a little.

Lost and Found (Pirates of the Caribbean, Jack Sparrow/James Norrington) Drowning didn’t feel as bad as he expected it to. His lungs burned for a moment or two and then he merely felt warm and sleepy, the way he had when his mother used to rock him to sleep. The world slowly faded around him until there was only darkness Peace at last. I'm quite proud of this one because I wrote it not long after the first PotC movie came out and having Norrington washed up and depressed pre-dated how he was in Dead Man's Chest by quite a bit. Yep, Disney stole my idea (kidding)
