Monday Fic Recs

Wei Wuxian/Lan Wangji (The Untamed)

Concerning Rabbits by pomme

Years of silence have created gaps of conversation that are wider than Wangji has ever known, and isn’t sure how to fill. But while he’s quiet, the rabbits are even quieter, and he’s found it helps to talk to them.

“We have a—” and Wangji doesn’t know how to finish. “We have a guest,” he decides. “You do not know him, but your grandparents did.”

The black rabbit wrinkles its nose.

Wangji reaches out to stroke its back. “I also do not like strangers. But you will like him.”

In which Lan Wangji navigates life, family, grief, friendship, and love through the years—with rabbits.

This is so lovely and a really interesting look at how Lan Wangji’s rabbits bring him and others some much needed comfort

Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan (Guardian)

In time’s eyes, no one is special, everyone falls beneath its hand. Even Time Engravers.

...Shen Wei isn’t a Time Engraver anymore. He was supposed to have learned that by now.

I love how clever this fandom is at using the commercials Zhu Yilong and Bai Yu have done. This is absolutely beautiful

Remember what we are by buriedbybooks

Five times that Shen Wei thinks for a heart-stopping moment that Zhao Yunlan remembers him and their relationship from 10,000 years ago, and the one where Zhao Yunlan actually does.

This is so soft and sweet

Liu Sang/Kan Jian (The Lost Tomb Reboot)

Oh, to have a himbo in one's hour of need.

I love this universe so much and I love the way Kan Jian is written. Himbo characters are always fun but seeing a story through their eyes is a delight.

Here’s the last thing I wrote/had time for for SangJian week!  This was the first prompt that I actually started planning for, so here it is!

Side note: In case you don’t know or forgot, the vest mentioned in this fic is this one that Waer wore in Reunion.  It is awful but I love it.

So... the teensy Liu Sang ‘synesthesia’ AU might have grown a little bit, now I don’t know if I should just post it, or save it for KanSang|SangJian week, cause it’s a little KanSang flavoured at this point.

Also it’s very stream of consciousness... 

One day I’ll get back to writing fics like a normal person, today is just... not that day...

Wei Wuxian/Lan Wangji (The Untamed)

He Visited, Still Flitting by aceofbasedesires

“The esteemed Hanguang-Jun, always where the chaos is,” Wei Ying says and manages, somehow, to inject some levity into it. “Not even I can be selfish enough to keep him from that.”

Wei Ying gives himself two weeks to convince Lan Zhan to run away with him. Set in episode 50.

This is beautifully written and really ties in with the overall tone of the show

Wu Xie/Zhang Qiling (The Lost Tomb)

A Life in Exchange by strangeangel21

Ten years after Zhang Qiling went behind the bronze doors, the Wang family is defeated, Xiaoge can come home, and everything, Wu Xie knows, should be all right.

But ten years have changed them all. Wu Xie no longer knows how to be the Tianzhen that Zhang Qiling knew, and fears that his old friend won't recognize--or like--what he's become. Zhang Qiling himself has come out of the bronze doors haunted, and more remote than before. And when a dangerous stranger begins tracking down Wu Xie, he knows there can be no going back to who he used to be--even if it means changing who he could become to Zhang Qiling.

I really love this author's writing style. It feels almost like the novels, only better :D

The Zhang Identity by merinnan & xantissa

The water was cold, far too cold, and he wasn’t sure if it was the cold or hitting the water that knocked the breath out of him.

His head went under the water a second time, and he fought back above it, swallowing more water in the process.

A third time, and now he was coughing and spluttering the water.

When he went under for the last time, the inky-black water was replaced by a pair of brown eyes that only he could see, and he gave them a silent apology.

Zhang Qiling woke up in hospital with a collection of injuries, no ID, no memory, and nowhere to go until Wang Pangzi, the cop who'd rescued him, offered to take him in and to help him find out who he was and where he came from. With nothing to go on, not even a hint of a mention in any files, it looked like it was going to be a futile effort until Zhang Qiling began helping Pangzi out on some murder cases. As the investigation unfolded, it became apparent that not only would someone do anything to stop it - including trying to kill them both - but that the murders all seemed to be connected to Zhang Qiling's past and to Wu Xie, the man he'd recently met and become inexplicably attached to.

Another incredible piece of work by two of my favourite fic authors. This was like reading a movie, and even though it's an AU everyone is perfectly in character. So good!

When Wu Xie woke up in the morning, to the sound of rain and silence, he already knew Pangzi hadn’t come back.

This is fantastic! The tension is so palpable I could feel it in my chest, and Wu Xie was written perfectly.

After a disaster of a job, something finally goes Liu Sang's way.

This is lovely, and hot. I love seeing it when Wu Xie just wants to take care of Liu Sang

Take a Cup Of Kindness Yet by fox_of_nine_tails

There are several reasons Liu Sang doesn’t drink, and all of them are true.

This is so sweet and gave me all of the feelings. I love getting to know little bits of Liu Sang's past even if it's mostly terrible and he needs a hug

A supremely fluffy and pointless AU where everything is exactly the same... except that Liu Sang runs a bakery. Featuring oblivious himbo!Kan Jian and persistent morosexual!Liu Sang.

Oh my god this is delightful. Himbo!Kan Jian is so pure and oblivious and I love him so much. Not as much as Liu Sang loves him though.
