how about post canon!WWX with plant-based cultivation?  🥺👉👈

like nature and plant-related themes are all about the cycle of life and death, so I feel like it would be a really cool middle ground for the spiritual path and ghost path. plus I just think it would be really rad if WWX could like make plants grow from corpses/graves and make new life where before there was only death…

just imagine WWX turning abandoned graveyards into gardens. imagine him making flowers grow in WN’s hair so the baby Lans don’t find him so scary. imagine WWX cleansing the burial mounds by turning them into a giant forest or a jungle or something.

Anon, ten years ago gay people couldn't get married in large parts of the US. AIDS was an almost certain death sentence when I was in high school. I was looking at job boards the other day and found a part time gas station job that had health insurance as a benefit, which NEVER would have happened 15 years ago. When I was a kid, hitting your child was extremely normalized in the US and my parents were the weird ones for not doing it. There is a vaccine for chicken pox. I didn't meet anyone who had transitioned until my 20s because it was so uncommon to transition in the aughts, and now there are some states that protect your right to have gender affirming care provided by your health insurance. It's not all states, but it's better than the number of states that had it in 2010, which was zero. THERE ARE TENANTS UNIONS NOW. WE HAVE A VACCINE AGAINST CERVICAL CANCER.

And all of that has been the work of a lot of individuals and organizations and research teams and activists.

I enjoy the Two Cakes Philosophy and I believe it deserves its place enshrined in fandom culture.

Forgive me for the extended metaphor but I also want to simultaneously celebrate what I’m calling Bakery Display Case Philosophy. You know when you walk into a bakery and the display case is full of beautiful treats? And there’s a variety of different colors, textures, and flavors to discover? And that’s so deeply exciting?

You might say to yourself, “No one is going to want to read this pairing. No one is going to want to want a character study of that character. No one wants genfic in this fandom, only shipfic.”

And you might use that to discourage yourself from writing a certain fic.

Fandoms, like bakeries, need cakes and cookies and éclairs and cream puffs and shortbread and brownies and pies and tarts and petit fours and turnovers and cinnamon rolls and madeleines and meringues—and so many other things—to survive.

I am so absolutely fucking terrified of Trump winning the election.

I remember him blaming everything on immigrants and the incredible hate and public calls for deportation or murder of immigrants that resulted (regardless of whether they were here legally). I was seriously wondering how long it could continue before we were all going to have to start hiding people in walls to protect them like in Diary of Anne Frank.

I remember being afraid when I made posts about pride and stuff that I'd end up arrested or dead if Trump ever got a majority in both congress and the Supreme Court, because it was fucking obvious he was going to make being queer or discussing queer issues illegal as soon as he had the numbers.

I remember him firing anyone who spoke out against him even when they were obviously right and he was wrong, like when he talked about a hurricane hitting the wrong city and was corrected publicly- to save the lives of people actually in the hurricane track - and he said he'd fire them all and destroy the national weather service. That is EXACTLY what Mao did in China that led to all the famines- everyone was afraid to point out when he said something wrong.

I remember him saying that people shouldn't be allowed to protest and the very strong implication that police should be allowed to beat up and shoot protestors because he believes inconveniencing people is a crime worthy of death.

I remember the cruel, pointless Muslim ban that was instituted with no warning. I remember elderly people who had lived their entire lives in the USA being deported after decades of living here and having families and friends here, just because they had been carried across the border as infants - an act they had no control over whatsoever. I remember deported people being driven across the border to Mexico at 3am and deliberately forced off the bus into the most high crime areas they could find, places with no public transit, phones, or even open businesses for another five hours. I remember children separated from parents without anyone writing down the parents names or where they were deported to. Volunteers have spent the last four years desperately trying to find the parents and children since there are no records. Last I heard, it was assumed some of the parents were dead because they were deported to places where the government had tried to kill then and handed directly into the same goernment's hands. Some of the children were never found too, I think?

I remember how Russia owns so much of his debt because US banks refused to loan him money any more, and how he has always favored Russia even in the invasion of Ukraine; how he made it clear that he thinks invading and colonizing countries is totally a valid political manuver and that the last fifty years of trying to make that be seen as disgusting is just weakness. He so blatantly wants to go back to the age of empires and colonialism and is determined to undo every international structure we built to make it difficult and unprofitable in the modern era.

I remember him insisting covid was not dangerous and no one needed the vaccine even though he got vaccinated himself the instant the vaccine was available. I remember him removing laws that protect workers from being forced to do dangerous things, removing laws to protect our food from bacteria, removing laws to ensure we have clean water.

Every good thing that makes my life better than my great grandparent's I had taken for granted up until him. But I will never, EVER again assume there are any rights that can't be taken away in a blink of an eye. And I will fight against evil getting elected to positions of power every damn election for the rest of my life.
