Drives me mad to think Stanford was this close to calling Stan earlier if not for Bill’s interference, and as a fucked up call back, Bill pulls the “Suicidal Phone Call to Stan” on Ford after they breakup.

Long before Weirdmageddon, Bill did not like Stan. Abusers isolate victims. It was easy with Fiddleford, but Bill knew Ford missed his brother deeply. Stan’s personality is much stronger and louder than Fiddleford’s. Stan was gonna pull Ford away if Bill allowed Ford to reach out because despite everything Bill has some understanding of interpersonal relationships.

Because if he didn’t, he wouldn’t have threatened to call Stan. He knows deep, deep down inside that Ford wants his brother back.

It hurts so much to reread the lost Journal pages. Ford’s loneliness was so palpable. He was a deeply lonely man who really didn’t know how to talk to people. That’s what Stan was there for.

Ford wanted Dipper as his apprentice and let's not forget he even admitted to carrying an outlawed infinity dice in a cheap plastic case and then LEFT IT IN WITH REGULAR DICE IN THE D&D&D EPISODE. Honestly I feel like if Fiddleford fell into the portal instead of Ford, the whole plot of Gravity Falls would've been wrapped up decades sooner.

People forget that Ford needed Fiddleford's help to build that portal. Even with 12 PhDs and a god of knowledge whispering in his ears, Ford couldn't figure it out! And though FF is physically weaker than Ford, he's not exactly useless in a fight; he gets Ford out of trouble numerous times in Journal 3 & TBOB.

Ford traveled the multiverse for over 30 years looking for a way to kill Bill, and it's ultimately still Fiddleford (or rather a happier, healthier version of him) that helped finish the quantum destabilizer. In fact, Fiddleford made not one, not two, but three deadly weapons that were used against Bill, including the one that ultimately ended him (the quantum destabilizer, mystery shackatron, & the memory gun).

...so yeah, he would've been back home in time for dinner.

shifty is terrified of bill.

he never knew the specifics of who bill was and ford’s relationship with him. to shifty, bill was a monster that tortured and terrified his father, to the point of ford needing to lock shifty behind the retinal-scan door to the portal room to keep ‘the monster in dad’s body’ from harming him. when even your father can’t save you from the monster, when even he’s scared, what hope do you have?

seeing his brave, unflappable caretaker slowly turned into a trembling, violent, paranoid wreck, without ever fully understanding why, is a trauma that lives in him for a very long time.
