i've made my own picture patterns before but this is the first time i've gone completely from scratch (as opposed to based on another jumper's design) on something so big. i made this jumper/dress based on my nana's dog and i'm going to send it over to her with my mum when she goes to visit soon. it goes a bit longer than this but it looked like i wasn't wearing pants and it was like 30c at 10pm at the time of photographing so i was not putting on anything longer 😂
it didn't take as long as my previous jumpers, possibly because the actual pattern is a lot smaller than my previous designs and it's only on the front, so a lot of it was just knitting green. i started it in mid/late january and i had to take a break for the red wool to come back in stock. i used paintbox super chunky and the photo is pretty true to life in terms of colour, it's really lovely. it's also very soft to touch, machine washable and super affordable, which is why it's my go to!
i need to stop making jumpers for other people because it's so hard to give them away when i'm done! hopefully the weather cools off enough for me to sneak in a couple of wears before i send it to nana!

The path I've decided to take is to do a marathon through all my patterns, knit them up, take new pictures for them, fix up and adjust the patterns and then release them as I intend them to be on Ravelry! There are going to be a lot of hiccups along the way but it's what I'm willing to do to recover my job after I took that hit from Etsy.
Tumblr media
I started with this set of dishcloths right here. They are made only using knit and purl stitches to make these pictures I've designed so they're very easy and not very big. I made these back in 2017 and made them a set on etsy in 2023 and now the set is an ebook on my Ravelry store! They're also available for sale individually for $2. There haven't been many takers for these over the years even though I enjoy the dynamics of each of them so maybe they just haven't found their crowd yet
I can see these being good for friend groups of creative people or as a gift to arts teachers or a gift to yourself as a dishcloth or face cloth
Tumblr media
And I swore that I wouldn't put too much work into my patterns as I'm doing this marathon buuuut I had a vision for a matching bonus cloth that would work as an accent to the other busier patterns if someone were to make them as a set so I went ahead and made it and added it as an exclusive to the ebook
Pattern Credits: The Actor's Cloth, The Artist's Cloth, The Crafter's Cloth, The Dancer's Cloth, and The Musician's Cloth available on their own but also as a set sold as an ebook

You knitted your wedding dress?? That is so cool!
Thank you! I had two main objectives - keeping the cost of our wedding down (so we DIYed a lot), and also simply not wanting to hunt forever for something that fit my tastes. (I'd had enough of the "hunting" experience when I went shopping for a prom dress haha!)
I started in January and finished the whole thing in August, just a few short weeks before the wedding, which was on Labor Day weekend that year. Had a lot of fun with it - learned some new techniques, did lots of little fancy details (like knitting tiny beads into the fabric!), and ended up with something completely unique. :) I'd never want to do it again; there were easily millions of stitches involved. But as a one-time experience, it was pretty cool! :D

Egg.
Linktober day 5- sacred
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's Zelda's secret stone from totk. I think the name secret stone is stupid, so have always wanted to call them sacred stones instead.
This was actually just an exercise in how small of an egg I could carve a secret stone and triforce on. Next to a quarter it's very smoll.
Insert joke about Zelda eating both egg and actual stone here

I have finished the brioche hat. I have learned I love the feeling of a brioche hat but do not enjoy knitting 26cm of brioche on 6.5 mm needles.
This was technically a mockup.
Send help.
