Now, hear me out:
So Pickman, kills raiders, right?
Longneck Lukowski, sells canned ghoul meat, being that ghouls use to be regular humans, right?
Sole can let Pickman go, and there'll be letters indicating Pickman keeps tabs on Sole, right?
Sole can make a deal with Lukowski and let him continue selling human meat, right?
Sole can also be a cannibal, right?
So, I've got this business plan/fanfic idea, see-

A hypothetical god tier for Pickman from Fallout: the Prince of Space.
A Prince of Space is among those who alter physical existence. They are motivated by themselves to destroy creation and beginnings. (x) The Prince of Space wants to have control over things and feels satisfied by the act of making something. (x) They are the Promised Mother, defined by control, creation, and beginnings. (x) Their opposite is the Bard of Time. Their inverse is the Sylph of Time. They share their personality with the Sylph of Blood. The Prince of Space would quest on a planet similar to the Land of Time and Frogs, reigned over by Echidna (Mother of Monsters) or Demeter (Goddess of Grain). They would rise to ascension on the wings of hummingbirds. (x)(x)(x)

that’s right, I’m back to writing fallout 4 fic, years later.
If you’re interested in a gory, dramatic, eventual Paladin Danse/Sole Survivor story, this one’s for you.
#it’s got some fun stuff like a battle in the Pickman gallery and a Nick valentine cameo#I’m having a good time with it#fallout#writing#og#my writing#fallout 4#Paladin Danse#Pickman#ao3

time for pickman paintings aka how faux-pretentious can i get as someone who doesn’t know that much about art. not all paintings that appear in game are present beneath the cut - just the ones in the art book.
an injured angel; the scratch lines almost make it look like they’re hanging from a ceiling, and the wings are evocative of a butterfly. they bleed gold from the wings and throat and their face is scratched out - a trend in these works. there are also blurry runes painted on the angels feathers. how much christian imagery survived the war? how familiar is Pickman with the concept of angels? interestingly, there’s no halo, despite circles and spirals being present in other pieces.
A painting of a man, who is either crying or bleeding from his eyes. Here his mouth is scratched out. Repeated motifs of eyes and faces coupled with said features frequently being scratched out indicates a certain overarching tension throughout the works.
A face whose eyes have been removed and are now hovering over their shoulders as they bleed from their eye sockets. see no evil? the circles/halo/orbit motif is present around the eyes.
a closeup of a face whose mouth is covered by a black bar with worm-like figures springing from it. A reference to ‘speak no evil’ or ‘speaking in tongues’, perhaps?
a wall of eyes with what appear to be numbers scattered about at random. the pupils are not all looking at a singular point.
Hands reaching skyward towards an eye surrounded by runes similar to those on the angel’s wings. what appears to be a city skyline is in the background. This is likely referring to the war, but shrouded in divine imagery. the eye is evocative of both a sun and an atom both.
a man whose upper skull is missing, revealing his brain. free your mind.
a man sitting on a throne-like chair and surrounded by a golden aura that again feels similar to the angel. the slash marks feel like they might indicate that he is bound or impaled.
another image of a man crying
a man staring at the viewer and smiling; six dismembered fingers frame him, three on each side, and there is a circle and spiral centered on his forehead. implications of psychic powers, perhaps, and some minor similarities to the eye in the sky. This man stands out as the only figure depicted who doesn’t appear to be distressed; perhaps his implied power protects him.
Overall, Pickman’s works are defined by their limited color palette of red, gold, and black; their obsession with eyes and vaguely biblical imagery; and people crying or otherwise distressed. Since Pickman is an obvious Lovecraft reference, it seems likely that he has seen something he shouldn’t have, perhaps related to Atom due to motifs shared with the Children of Atom.

Below is my Sole, Gwen, doing the Pickman job for Hancock shortly after meeting him. This is one of my favorite scenes, because he’s clearly trying to not be so interested in her. (You can read the whole book and the rest of the ongoing series here.)
“How’s my little scout doing?" Hancock asked in a raspy voice with a charming smirk.
I blushed. “Uh...” I held the calling card and the holotape out to him. “Here.”
“What’s this here?” He took them from me and examined them.
“Proof that Pickman is a madman. He’s been killing people and using their bodies for… art.”
He just chuckled and put the things I gave him on his desk. “Well, they say all artistic inspiration is ephemeral, am I right? Wish I could say that was the most twisted thing I ever heard of, but it ranks up there… Top three… I’ll put the word out, tell people to steer clear of that area. Hiring you was definitely one of my better moments. Here. Spend the money in good health.”
He handed me a sack of caps. “Thanks, Mayor Hancock.”
“Please, just Hancock.”
Flustered, I put the caps in my duffle bag. Then the silence between us got awkward. He put his hands in his pockets, and when he pulled back his frock, that’s when I noticed the American flag that was woven into his belt loops as a makeshift belt. I averted my eyes before he thought I was looking... at something else.
We both started to speak at the same time. He started with “So what are you plannin’ —“ and I started with “I should probably —“
“Sorry, you first,” I murmured, then I added an awkward laugh.
“Ah, I was just wondering what you were plannin’ to do now.”
“Funny, I was just about to say that I should go to Daisy’s shop to see if she had a hazard suit I could buy.”
His lips became a straight line, his brow creased. “You really plannin’ to do this? Walk through the Glowing Sea, I mean.”
I was surprised at his sudden concern. “Yeah.”
“Hmm. You do what you gotta. And hey, if you’re looking for more work, head down to the Third Rail underneath the State House. Talk to the bartender. He may have a job you can do.” He winked.
I laughed nervously. “Thanks. I’ll keep that in mind.”
As I turned to leave, he gave me a hopeful, “See you later, sister.”
