PRE-RELATIONSHIP

How did they first meet?

They met shortly after Julia registered into 756Pro. There's many ways this could've potentially gone, but I like to imagine Producer had Julia attend one of Shizuka's lessons to spectate how the agency operates, and they met through that.

What was their first impression of each other?

Considering how much Shizuka cares about being an idol, the fact that Julia didn't want to be one likely stood out to her and made her question why she was there, or if she'd take her work seriously. Not necessarily a negative impression, but definitely a curious one. On Julia's end, it was likely something like this with a mix of Girl Pretty.

Did any of their friends or family want them to get together?

I doubt either of their parents could care less, but I imagine rumors spread fast throughout the theater, so if someone picked up on it, everyone would hear about it. I think the biggest supporters are likely Megumi, Chihaya and Mirai, and the only one who (at least pretends to) speak out against it is Tsubasa.

Who felt romantic feelings first?

Julia. I love my clichés and I think it was love at first sight with a bit of slow burn sprinkled on top <3

Did either of them try to resist their feelings?

I think Shizuka was definitely... confused at least? She's so tsundere that deflecting her feelings is second-nature to her, and it's easy to imagine Mirai and Tsubasa teasing her about it and her denying it endlessly until she can't anymore. Some big flustered baby gay energy going on here

If you had told one of them that the other would be their soulmate, what would they think?

Shizuka I doubt believes in that stuff, but Julia I feel would just... understand.

What would their lives be like if they had never met?

If you look at this more in the sense of "what do they do for each other on a grander scale," I like to think that in time Julia can help Shizuka navigate her home situation (in a physical sense and otherwise). On Julia's end, I doubt she would've valued her career in quite the same way had she not met Shizuka. There's plenty of passionate girls in the theater, but in Julia's own words, none of them are as passionate as Shizuka is and especially in terms of being an idol. I think that had to have had some sort of lasting impression on her, even if she comes to eventually respect her line of work regardless of Shizuka's influence specifically.

Julia, at some point after D/Zeal was formed and they held their first performance. You can only tenderly call someone your "partner" for so long before it sounds gay.

Considering we've seen Julia willingly interact with so many random characters before... probably her!

Julia. As we've seen happen a number of times in their content together she can be a bit awkward about it, but she does think a lot about Shizuka's feelings and at the end of the day, Shizuka definitely picks up on that. I think Shizuka tries when possible but Julia's not the most vulnerable around her.

S-Plat’s super protective of you, too

While Jotaro is scared shitless something will happen to you, he respects your space and lets you do your own thing 

But oh lord

If there’s a Stand attack and you get hurt, S-Plat can and will go apeshit. 

I mean this in the most literal sense possible 

Everyone will be howling for S-Plat not to kill the Stand user, not to hurt him anymore 

But Jotaro glances at you out of the corner of his eye and sees your limp body 

There’s a furious, cold steel gleam in his eye

He’s purely emotionless

But Star Platinum is screaming, sobbing, torn between taking care of you and ripping the Stand user to shreds. 

Everyone can see that it’s impacting Jotaro on an incredibly deep level

And that’s probably how most of the Stardust Crusaders found out, honestly 

Because when someone is ready to kill for you (and almost does), doesn’t that say more than enough?

CanvasWatches: Nichijou

They said it couldn’t be done! My resolve almost faltered! But here it is: KyoAni’s[1] Nichijou dubbed and in my hands!

Nichijou is so well regarded, and the scant clips I’ve watched such high quality, I ordered the Blu-ray collection sight unseen. Which, historically, I’ve done only for acclaimed films, and even that’s rare.[2]

I was not disappointed. It quickly replaced Lucky Star[3] and Azumanga Daioh[4] as my favorite slice of life comedy series.

The animation is great, the comedy on point, and the characters and (dubbed) performances are charming and very likeable.

Now, like a fool, I’ve set myself to analyze a comedy… woo-hoo…

Spoilers. Just go watch the show now.

Nichijou is super charming.

It has strong comedy, but there’s also plenty of segments that make you smile and kind of enjoy that life exists, and friendships such as those depicted are capable by horrible humans.

I’ve never been struck by the visceral appeal of Moe before. I’ve watched K-On (which is a fine series), Lucky Star (good comedy, if steeped in its era), and have dabbled in the media here and there, but Nichijou is the first series where I felt the charm.

In the latter half of the series, there’s a recurring segment which is dedicated to sweet, small moments that you expected to be subverted (due to the rest of the segments) but is played straight and just makes you smile.

But it’s also really, really funny, in a well written, logical progression sort of way.

A good quick example is that of the Go-Soccer club, which begins as a funny background detail of posters advertising it being seen around campus. Then a few incidental characters discuss it in the background. Then, we get a segment featuring the two members and we learn its founder formed the club as a place to goof off and play simple playground games. So which is a decent punchline to a running background gag.

Then a new member comes along who is a champion Go-Soccer player hoping to continue the hobby in his high school years. Then we learn one of the teachers also is an enthusiast of the sport that apparently exists, but is resistant to be the club advisor.

Then we witness a few bits of the game being played, and it’s a confusing, Calvinball experience that will never be explained.

The entire show is built like this. A premise is introduced, expanded upon, exaggerated, and the silliest options taken when possible without seeming forced (within the context of a comedy world anyways). And there’s also lasting changes in the details. A gag changes windows for the focal classroom into stained glass, and those windows remain as such for the rest of the series.

But the real strength of the series isn’t finding joy in small miracles or escalation of events, but how interconnected everyone is and how those connections make life better.

At the start of the series, most of the cast have tangential relationships, but the segments stand alone with their own sub-casts. The main trio (Yuuko, Mio, and Mai) work off one another and have their classmates in the background, and those classmates sometimes get their own focus segments, but the segments are fleeting and seem to run off their own internal narrative, unconcerned with others. Slowly, over time, we learn new relationships that put new spins on past segments.

Mio gets a job at a stand, and her supervisor’s impossible and ethereal standards gets the better of her. Then that supervisor is revealed to be the father of one of her classmates, who is being crushed on by the friend of a girl who has a tsundere relationship with a boy Mio also has a crush on.

Also, Mio’s sister is a kendo mentor figure to the tsundere girl.

These relationships are all static. They existed before the series began, but were revealed when it would be funny.

The one exception is the Shinonome lab cast: a grade school aged prodigy, the robot she built, and later a cat they adopt. The cat’s adoption is the first time a relationship is formed on-screen, and is the straight man the duo needs for the first half of the series. The three are rather reclusive, with Nano the robot sometimes going grocery shopping, but they never have meaningful interactions.

But the series is about how everyone connects with everyone eventually, and the bridge is built when Nano is allowed to attend class and join the school-girl trio as a fourth friend.

The final episode puts a pin in this with a segment of Yuuko stumbling through the school to ask Nano is they can visit her house. We watch the full journey as every trip and small mistake Yuuko makes improves the lives around her in a small way.

It’s a really good series and… I don’t know, it’s a comedy, those are impossible to analyse! It’s fun, good natured, and is family friendly! Watch it.

In conclusion, a segment about a deer wandering onto the school’s campus.

10 Most likable

1) Rheoste: (Oh my goodness a character that I don’t speak about much but I still consider them main Because I like them and they’re well developed.) Just because you are a puppet politician doesn’t mean you’re happy with it they are also probably the genuine nicest one they have a lot of issues but it doesn’t actually make them very unlikable as a person. They are a wonderful host Who would love to talk about poetry and novels over a cup of tea. Also they are rather nice to their House staff.

2) Akua: she tries to be very sweet and very adorable. She understands your feelings and will try to accommodate but she does have a lot of emotional turbulence that can get in the way and make her not as nice

3) Videl: very cool friendly boy outwardly is super likable and a cool kid but not the cool kid who will make fun of you nerds. But he does love attention too much which doesn’t show too often but that in along is it cold side towards people who don’t like him or has seen his not so savory points

4) Xan: very polite young noble but excessively so you can’t really know them very well. Oh but they’re a little uptight and probably would hold you up to the same standards as they do themselves so judgemental

5) Inantar: oh if you work under her you definitely won’t like her. And that’s fair she’s pretty rough. Outside she can be rather introverted and quiet. Well that doesn’t make her the most likable but it doesn’t make her dislikable.

6) Odd: he gets better but he’s pretty much a loner at the point we are using. Workaholic, abrasive when disturbed, doesn’t really try to make friends at school either. I guess he would be tsundere ish but yeah his personality tends to be a little repellent get past his shell and you find someone who shows that they value you as a friend.

7) Lahortans: seriously if you’re not interesting to them in the field of magic or not a sexual partner Or client they sell their wares they probably won’t care about you. Maybe that doesn’t make them walk the worst person but you sure will feel like they ignore you completely which is not wrong.

8) Aria: either she’s extremely quiet and withdrawn or chaotic young teen who will get you into a lot of trouble for the fun of it and has a Cackling laugh. Probably doesn’t really care about you Unless you stick by her long enough then and she might actually develop attachment. She won’t be actively bad to you though

1)Videl: Well he supposed to be the most attractive yes? Pretty eye(...?) clear skin, good sense Fashion excellent Posture?? Look he chose his body because he knew he would be pretty and he was right.

2)Akua: Absolutely adorable girl , Also tall and also strong although not very muscular. She has a sweet voice, Physically expresses herself in a cute way and has the clothing to go with it.

3)Lahortans: Long lashes long wavy black hair, or gray if they decide to powder it. They aren’t skinny but they Don’t need that to look delicate and doll-like that’s what they are going for. Even their voice gives that impression as long as you don’t hear them be themself..

4)Oddmund: just a guy who doesn’t want to be cute but that’s the face he got stuck with. Fortunately for him is well-dressed Making him be pretty handsome too.

5)Rheoste: The stresses of life has definitely worn them down but and they used to be Beautiful they still look pretty nice. Even their messy hair looks like beautiful waves, and in certain light their skin shimmers wsparkles.

1)Xan: They are homeschooled but if they weren’t they would definitely participate in class always asking questions always being polite, Good grades, Model student probably has difficulties working with others though. Will be a tattletale.

2)Akua: occasionally talks to her friends too much but Will stop When called on. Will do her work and get good grades. You will love to have her in class.

3)Aria: never talks to anyone, does all her work good grades. Not much more to it. Probably gets in trouble out of the classroom.

4)Inantar: painfully shy will not participate in class or do oral presentations if avoidable. Good grades But can be a little judgemental of others also a tattletale.

5)Oddmund: quiet in class only participates when called on. probably gets snippy with teachers sometimes. Does all his homework though, straight B’s.

6)Lahortans: very smart but lazy and won’t get the highest grades on subjects they don’t care about and won’t do things that they find too annoying.

7)Videl: oh you know he has to be separated from other people to avoid talking in class. has issues with respecting professors and being motivated to study but only with some classes. Otherwise he can be an average student.

8)Rheoste: actual class clown, but Nice to professors. Weird fluctuating grades and too much levity about it, type of student you send to a counselor because you suspect they might be really depressed. They are.

What's Violet like (I LIVE for gorgeous and deadly fairies)? Are she and Lavender really close? What powers does she possess exactly??? What's her arc throughout the series?? Also, in terms of character rankings, who is your second main character, Aelia or Violet?? Sorry for the bombard of questions, I just really love Violet! (also, I'm pretty sure you've answered this before but I can't find it anymore, what's her sexuality??)

thank you for the questions!!! I love Violet so much, I consider her one of my best characters just because of how many layers she’s grown for herself. Her story is really close to my heart. 

Shortest answer first, I don’t think either Aelia or Violet is more important? They serve different roles in the story by nature, and they both have their places. Which one is the secondary “main” character depends a lot on which part of the story you’re looking at. In book 1, Vi’s actually more of an antagonist than a hero. She’s mean. Aelia’s a tertiary lead, because she can’t physically contribute to the plot, she has to do everything through long-distance communications. Violet is the secondary protagonist in book 2, where she does the bulk of her character growth. Aelia’s the secondary protagonist in book 3, which is all about her arc. In book 4, they’re about equal, but Aelia’s more relevant to Sayara’s plot. 

As for what Violet’s like, well. She’s a born and bred tsundere. She cares a lot about her family and friends, she’s very defensive of them, but if you try to get close to her emotionally then she will viciously defend herself as well. She also refuses to admit when she cares about people most of the time.... she desperately wants a white knight romance where she’ll get swept off her feet and whisked off into the sunset, but at this rate, she’s too cranky for that to ever happen. She’s a very private person, to the point where even the people she cares most about don’t always know what’s going on inside her head. She masks all her ‘softer’ personality traits under a sharp pointy facade of responsibility and protection, she considers it her duty to be the heiress and be the protector of the family so that nobody else she loves has to. 

Violet and Lavender are very close. Vi tries to pull her tsundere act on Lavender constantly, but Lavender never buys it, and they know each other well enough that she never will. They share a psychic link, so they feel each other’s emotions and sometimes also each other’s physical pain. They definitely know when the other one is hurt. Despite this, after certain events in book 1, Violet shuts herself down and locks Lavender out of her thoughts for a while. She’s really depressed, and she’s one of those people who self-isolates a lot by instinct, so Lavender doesn’t know as much of what’s going on as she used to. 

-Vi’s a psychic! She specializes in the darker ‘attack’ side of mental magic. She can twist someone else’s mind and cause excruciating pain, she can read minds, she can keep herself from being read. She teleports very well even in book 1, she also has impressive telekinesis. Violet can do mind control. This is intimidating. The rules for mind control in Feilan are pretty strict--you must have eye contact to attempt control, the ball is always in the defender’s court and you must navigate their mind in order to dominate it, if eye contact breaks then the link is weakened and it’s easy to lose control, etc--but Vi knows how to use it. Plus, she’s theoretically capable of mirages and misleading literal Illusion magic, but she hasn’t trained this area of magic as thoroughly and doesn’t use it often. 

Violet’s primary magical element is Darkness, despite her favorite abilities being Illusion-based, so she can access some Dark magic too. This manifests as a cloud of shadow that won’t be easily pierced by Light magic or other means, or as a move I’ve nicknamed ‘air shatter’ which literally creates a controlled black hole and destroys everything near it. These are mostly book 3 abilities, which develop after her ninth or tenth evolution. 

Later on in the series, she also develops psychic foresight, which is exactly what it sounds like. She has the limited ability to (involuntarily) see bits and pieces of the future as defined by various decisions. These flashes are not binding truth, but they can act as guides, suggestions, or warnings. 

Upon her final evolutions, Violet develops into an animaris, which is a specific type of primary-Dark secondary-Illusion psychic with some cool unique abilities! She’ll be able to manipulate sound as well as vision, and use a form of mind control that’s more like puppeteering where she doesn’t need eye contact. The puppeteering magic is super scary, and very OP, and won’t manifest in time to be relevant to canon. It’s worth pointing out, though! I think it’s neat. 

-Violet’s canon arc is about cracking her shell and defrosting her bad attitude. She’s a secondary antagonist slash rival archetype for Sayara in book 1, but her overall series role is the lancer. Her serious attitude and dark outlook on life contrast Sayara’s optimism and brightness, and where Sayara wants to be responsible but doesn’t know how, Violet knows exactly how and never asked for this. They learn a lot from each other. 

See, Violet’s depressed, but Violet has worked herself into a mental state where she’s firmly convinced that she has no other option. She actively resists trying to get better and learning to cope with her PTSD because she believes it’s a waste of time, and she’s made herself into a martyr figure inside her head. She’s actually really toxic to be around in the long term, her adamant refusal to solve her own problems is ripping her family apart. She insists that she does everything to protect her sisters, and she really genuinely means that, but she also subconsciously expects them to fix her when she’s broken and deal with her mental issues without ever questioning them. She’s built up an image of what her family is in her head, and that’s what she sticks with, even as they grow and change and defy what Violet’s preconceptions of them are. She puts a lot of weight on Aelia in particular, because she has a single-minded obsession with Elli’s wellbeing, and she perceives Aelia’s desire for independence as some kind of slight against her. In her mind, when Aelia says “I need breathing room,” it actually means “I hate you and I don’t want your help and I’m going to let myself get killed out of spite.” When Aelia says “you should go see a therapist,” Violet hears “you’re weak and pathetic and can’t fulfill your job and responsibilities to our family.”  It’s bad. 

Over the series, Vi learns to calm down a little and trust that her family can handle themselves. The hair-trigger temper and instinctual distrust of literally everyone is the first thing to go--she has to accept that sometimes she doesn’t have access to the bigger picture, and she needs to wait for evidence before lashing out. She has to develop enough to accept Sayara’s apology in book 2 after Sayara says some fucked up shit, she has to develop enough to learn that not everyone is out to get her. Moving forward in the series, she’s still dealing with the anger issues, but she also starts learning to actually manage her mental health. Her depression/anxiety/PTSD/etc is screwing over her whole family, and that’s a serious problem, and that’s what she has to solve in the latter half of the series. By the end of book 4 she does give in and go see a fucking therapist for her problems. Everyone is very proud of her.

-Sadly, Vi is the token het in the cast, but I do have a funny story about how that happened. What with the psychic link between Violet and Lavender, it wasn’t easy! 

So the twins have this empathetic link, and they feel each other’s emotions, and the closer they are physically the stronger that bond is. As little kids, they spent a LOT of time together, and when they started having dumb little puppy crushes they couldn’t tell whose feelings were whose. The twins knew one of them liked boys and the other liked girls, so at first they assumed they were both straight b/c this was back when everyone thought Vi was a boy. But then they started wondering, because they weren’t really sure, Violet in particular was super insecure. There was some awkward 10-year-old flirting, everyone felt weird about everything, nobody knew what was going on. The twins were always inseparable. And then Vi came out, and things got even MORE confusing, because they started pretending they were identical, and it worked so well that no one could tell the two apart--even some of their love interests. And then they went on a summer trip overseas together and got involved in an Actual Preteen Love Dodecahedron... 

They didn’t actually figure out whose orientation was whose until they turned 15 and Lavender went on a study trip to a medical school in the south, so suddenly they were far enough apart to tell the difference. Lavender’s the gay one, Violet’s the straight one, it’s simple enough but it took them years and years to find out. Pro tips for parents: when your psychic kids start having soap opera level romantic drama, maybe get them to spend time by themselves for a bit? It might solve some things!

What are your top 10 superheroines and why?

I normally don’t do Top 10′s since I suck at narrowing things down, but I just can’t say no to you. XD I’ll give this a shot. These lovely ladies won’t be in any individual order of preference. I’ll just summarize what I like both about their looks and characters.

Harley Quinn: In recent years Harley’s proven to be a hero in her own right, thanks to shaking off the grip of the Joker’s influence. Harley’s a very sweet and fun character, bringing a lot of joy and color into otherwise dark stories, but not without some craziness to make her out of place in the setting. Her outfits and personality are adorable and she’s very affectionate to those she loves, plus she’s one of those characters who’s had a WIDE range of costumes, but each works since Harley’s traits are so defined, you never have difficulty picking her from a crowd.

Batgirl: Another lovely lady from Gotham’s night life I was introduced to by the Batman Animated Series. I was especially a fan of her depiction in the final seasons were she became more of a main part of the team (being voiced by the ever awesome Tara Strong didn’t hurt). XD She kicks in all her finery, heels and red hair blazing. I liked how she had her own relationship with Batman as opposed to the Robin’s as she herself joined the fight against crime instead of being recruited. She listened to Batman because of his experience and training, but wasn’t beholden to him either, but never let anything like ego get in the way of saving the day or from speaking her mind and using her skills. Also LOVED how in SBFF she was a total fangirl for Batman...the Frank Miller-esque Batman. The difference in design is hilarious!

Wonder Woman: A character I really didn’t get to know until the Justice League cartoon, since the Super Friends version was rather bland in character. She really earned her spot among the Trinity. She’s not just gorgeous with a body that shows quite a bit of muscle, but she’s also able to go toe-to-toe with people in Superman’s league and doesn’t have any issue getting her hands dirty or fighting dirty if the situation calls for it. I also liked a trait in the comics that, sadly, hasn’t been as well depicted in the cartoons, is her compassion. She’s someone who’s just as willing to offer someone a helping hand as she is willing to lay down a smackdown. She manages to walk the line of a kick-ass warrior and someone who favors peace without breaking stride.

Supergirl: Another I owe to the DCAU. I liked her style and design and the friendship she had with Barbara and the family she made with Superman and the Kents. And I’m kinda cheating with combining her with the SBFF version too, but I liked her muscles and curves. :3 So hot! But back to personality I liked how she both wanted to be her own hero and not just be seen as Superman’s cousin, but was also proud to be a part of the family and wore his hero crest with pride.

Raven: I didn’t notice her at first when the show first started (my eyes were first drawn to Starfire) but as time went on I saw her as more than just a ‘goth’ character I starting to see more of in fiction. Unlike a lot of goth characters at the time, Raven was never really a bitch or jerk to the team. She was a little guarded and quiet, but she still considered them friends and had no issue being friends with them. There’s a very nice bit of subtle changes to her design as the series goes on, with her wearing her hood up less and less when hanging with her friends outside of battles. She becomes more open with them, smiling and laughing with their shenanigans (most of the time). And as TTG showed us QUITE a bit, she’s got a LOT to like under that cloak. :3

Starfire: She was the first I noticed mostly through her looks. While her outfit wasn’t as revealing as her comics outfit, it was still a huge shock to someone used to Supergirl and Batgirl’s style of dress. That said I learned to see more to the character than looks and really enjoyed how sweet and emotional she was. She wasn’t a push over by any means, she was just someone who truly and honestly loved her friends and would do anything to help them out or keep them happy. That sorta genuine affection is rare and pretty adorable. She’s the kind of person we all wish we had in life. Also I found her attitude towards love, sex, and relationships (in the early comics at least before the reboot) to be pretty mature and showing she clearly understands the concepts which a lot of people have a hard time grasping (even helping out Raven understanding her own feelings ont he subject).

Empowered: An original hero of @adamwarrencomics creations, I discovered her from some art I came across on Deviantart. I gotta be honest, when I first saw the previews and read the book summary, I bought the first issue thinking it was just gonna be some light fan-service and parody. Thankfully I was wrong about that. The shallow bit that is. While the story doesn’t shy away from EMP, her body, or her relationship with her boyfriend time and again, it never does it in a way you could call crude or exploitative. It all flows naturally with the narrative that follows her life as a hero, both in the field and at home. You really feel for the girl and her struggle to be a hero and the constant shit her so-called “co-workers” and even random civvies give her. You just wanna give her a hug. But not because she’s gorgeous or anything, but because you honestly believe in her. You know she can be a kick-ass superhero and know she can prove those jack-asses wrong. And with every issue you see her overcoming each obstructed in her way and becoming more and more self-assured and effective as a hero. It also helps when you see she’s one of the few heroes without any showboating tendencies. She helps others from a desire to genuinely help and do good. 

Artemis: Husky voice, blonde hair, tan skin, pony-tail, muscles, and abs you could grate cheese on. :3 Pure 10 out of 10 on the looks scale. :3 Now for character I like Artemis cause she’s very different from other superheroines in that she’s much more in your face and not one to take shit from people. Now to some people that means to be an asshole or be the only one making decisions, but for her it just means not letting others speak for her and to let other walk over her. A lot of people seemed to not like her for that reason (despite praising guy characters for literally the same thing) but I really liked it. Tough girls kick ass. And when you know about her history, her attitude makes sense. When you’re raised by a mentally, physically, and verbally abusive asshole who wants to mold you into a side-kick for his merc business, you’d want to stick it to the guy by doing good and making your atoner mom proud. With that sorta determination, you’re not gonna take any new-gal hazing. XD But that said, she was also nice and considered the others her friends, even if it was rough goings at first, to the point she was willing to reveal VERY personal information to them, rather than be blackmailed. VERY nice change of pace from the standard tropes in fiction.

Huntress: Another hard-nosed hottie with a thing for arrows, I was introduced to her with Justice League Unlimited. I really felt for the character. The daughter of a mob boss who was murdered along with her mother in front of her by one of their subordinates. It’s not hard to see her trying to get her revenge on the SOB, even if it means getting kicked out of the Justice League and taking on Black Canary and Green Arrow to do it. While she does eventually make the right call, I honestly found myself rooting for her at times because you really felt for her. But at least she got a nice relationship with The Question out of all of it and it was one of the most adorable pairings in the entire show. She was willing to kick some MAJOR ass to keep him safe and it took Superman to reign her in from straight up killing people. Not in the comics I think. Also, them legs and that AB WINDOW. What is it with girls with arrows and having killer abs? XD

Uravity/Froppy: Bit of a tie since I like them both. Froppy is adorable and is blunt and honest without being a bitch, a trap that befalls most characters. She’s sweet to her friends and is willing to put her life on the life for them no questions asked. She was seconds away from a literal Touch of Death, but spent what would have been her last moments trying to get her friend away from getting crushed to death. Also if her and Attea have taught me anything, frog-girls are fucking adorable. Dem legs and dat ass. :3 As for Uravity she is SUCH a breath of fresh air for anime female leads. She’s not a Tsundere Bitch to the lead and is nothing but a compassionate and supporting friend to Deku, even after just meeting him once. She feels guilty that her goals for being a hero aren’t as altruistic as the others, but are still noble in that she hopes to get enough money to give her parents an easy life after a life time of back-breaking labor. She’s just a very supportive character always pushing herself to get better and really showing some great character in doing so. Plus who doesn’t love that adorable blush of hers and that bit of thickness on her. :3 Very nice. XD

Instead, Aras only went along with whatever his wife believed, and left Liev without any good male figure in his life. HISTORY BIOGRAPHY: Liev grew up south of Inkopolis with two parents and a brother older than him by five years. When he was small he depended a lot on his family, as he should’ve been doing. Elementary school was alright for him; kids acted decently, and he even made friends with an Octarian girl named Saira. It was middle school, when he turned 13, that things started to go wrong.

His brother Raz, at 18 years old, decided to become Edgy and started to push away Liev and reject him, despite Liev needing him at such an important time of his life. There were also bullies at school who would pick on him and Saira, and Liev had a sort of job protecting her. For a few months he had been able to confide in her and she could help him sort things at home out; but when she also turned 13, she moved away and left him alone. 

Raz’s attitude shifted and his behavior and words quickly turned abusive. Liev tried to tell their parents but his mother Tani and father Aras dismissed him, choosing not to believe what Raz was actually doing. It was then that Liev decided that there was nobody in his life he could trust.

He endured it all for four years and then decided to run away at 17, figuring he could support himself. It was tough battling to earn money and finding jobs elsewhere, but three years later he had made enough to get his own apartment and take care of himself.

That year he happened to meet Saira in a battle and they quickly reconnected and became friends. One thing led to another and they began living together, but only as friends. 

Liev realized after a few more months that he was in love with her, and decided one night he was going to propose - but before he could even tell her he loved her, she was whisked away to combat Agent 3 in Octo Valley and was murdered.

Depressed and bitter, Liev’s resolve hardened; there really was nobody in this world he could trust. For the past year he’s been trying to reach the highest ranks and level, determined to find and kill Agent 3 for justice.

DO THEY TAKE INITIATIVE: Presently - he would be better about this in the past - he wouldn’t have any idea of what to do, and would probably prefer his partner to initiate things.  HOW DO THEY ACT(SHY,ETC): Tsundere. Liev is a total tsundere. b-baka!! GENTLEMAN/LADYLIKE VS KLUTZY: He’s not a gentleman by any means - even if he put down his callous personality for a minute he’d still have no idea what he was doing. So probably more on the klutzy side.  GO SLOW VS JUMP INTO: If it’s up to him, go slow. Very very cautious.  PROTECTIVE: Yes.  ACT LIKE FRIENDS OR LOVERS: He needs both - his lover would probably be the only one he could trust.  WHAT KIND OF PRESENTS DO THEY BUY: He would have no idea what to get his lover, so he’d probably just straight up ask them what they wanted instead of being sneaky about it. Unless they were very vocal about what they liked.  TYPE OF KISSER: Incredibly nervous and even shy pecking at first - pecking on the forehead, pecking on the cheek, until he finally works up the courage to pecking at his partner’s lips. Once he feels more comfortable with them, he’ll kiss his partner slowly and deeply, and he’s usually very gentle (in some cases, not so much. like with Bon)

DO THEY WANT KIDS: Nope. DO THEY WANT TO MARRY: Not presently. (or consciously, at least) MAKE GOOD OR BAD DECISIONS: He tries to make okay decisions, but sometimes they’re pretty bad - after all, he has no idea what he’s doing.  ARE THEY ROMANTIC: Once he’s used to the relationship he can be. He’s very dorky though HOW ARE THEY IN BED:  GET JEALOUS EASY: If his partner is intentional about it, yes, he’ll become jealous and angry - but he tries not to otherwise, choosing to trust his partner. 

WIFE/HUBBY BEATER: nope MARRY FOR MONEY: click this. (well...this applies to liev on a much bigger scale but. i’ll just leave this here, thanks bon) FAVORITE SEX POSITION:  WHAT WOULD HAPPEN ON THEIR DREAM DATE: Doesn’t have a preference, as long as his partner’s happy/having fun. (Though he does tend to enjoy walks.)

OPINION ON SEX: Presently? no thank you, about romance in general. But say, if he had a partner, he’d just want to make sure it was consensual and that his partner was comfortable with it. i don’t really know beyond that
