Good Omens graphic novel update: December 2024

We promised a graphic novel treat for December to send off 2024, which we have at the end of the update, so let's dive in!

Colleen has been working diligently ahead of the graphic novel going to print next month, which she discussed over on Patreon. For those looking for more behind the scenes on both Good Omens and Colleen's work more broadly, we recommend either following her Substack, or subscribing via Patreon, as she approaches the finish line.

A snapshot from our production HQ where dummy books of the graphic novel, slipcase and other editions of Good Omens have been arriving thick and fast. The graphic novel (slipcased version shown) has quite the heft to it. It's going to be such a magnificent object inside and out.

Here, we're testing out the various papers, finishes, embellishments and more – everything is falling into place!

Merch-wise, some more delights. The A.Z. Fell & Co tote bag design is in, one side in celebration of our favourite angelic bookseller, the other as if it's been purchased from the bookshop itself, so you can take your pick.

Good Omens: You Get...Stuff Like This

In the most recent Good Omens update at the Kickstarter, a few people got upset at the suggestion that you have to get past my paywall here to see Good Omens updates.

Except you really don't, and the post doesn't actually say you do. You get a bit more, like pics of my studio, a discussion of tools and process - but not all of that is exclusively about Good Omens.

I think the Dunmanifestin team just wanted to draw a little attention to my blogs and other works, for which I am very grateful.

As my Patreon supporters already know, Good Omens info posted here gets to the Substack and Kickstarter eventually. And since most of my posts here aren't just about Good Omens, but my other projects and personal stuff, as well as links to our weekly Virtual Art Studio sessions, I think I'm justified in keeping that material behind a paywall.

In fact, I don't think I've posted much stuff about Good Omens since the summer: pages of flats like the one you see above, a few studio photos, and color tweaks.

Also, me boo-hooing about my nerves and health.

But for those who feel left out missing even this small amount of stuff, then the screen shot above is for you.

That's called a flat.

It's a prelim color before adding final color.

Here's what the final color looks like.

So I've posted a handful of this sort of thing since this summer, but frankly, there's even more of my sketches and so on posted at my Instagram that aren't here at all.

For those who don't know, I am doing most of the color myself on the book, but I am working with assistants. I'm not sure how much the Dunmanifestin team wants out there before the big reveals, but here's a snippet of a sky.

Here, I've done a repaint. Sometimes I do very extensive repaints after the assistant works on a page. Sometimes not so much. I didn't use assistants on many pages at all. About 80% of the labor on the color of the book is my work.

However, the assistants have been a big help, and I am very appreciative of them.

I will make a point to go through all my prior posts and get every single bit of art that you haven't seen and make it public for all of you in the coming weeks. I need to excise it from previous posts. As I respect the privacy of all my readers, I never make prior posts public without their permission as they may not want their comments or identities to be public.

Idk if this’ll help anyone or if these are even good… just thought of stuff self shipper could do, I guess.

Anywho, here’s a list of things yo,u as a self shipper, can do for fun.

Proship/Comship/Anti-Antis DNI

Play Tomodachi Life, make yourself, your main F/O, and then a bunch of family and friends and see how the shenanigans play out.

Play Sims (my choice is 4, but any one will work), same as before but this time you have mods and can control you and your F/O’s however you please.

Make kandi jewelry for each of your F/O’s, whether it’s a bracelet with their name or just a necklace with a color scheme you think fits them.

Purchase something custom from etsy and/or fiverr. These can be care packages, letters, plushies, art pieces, fanfics, maybe you could find someone who does RP asmrs, and my personal favorites an RP or an annotated book.

Look on youtube for asmrs, whether they’re RP, sleeping beside or those muffled playlist scenarios.

For those of is that are age regressor, make a custom deco paci based on your F/O.

Credits to @myselfshipdiary for this one, make a Pinterest board. They can feature fanart, aesthetic images or heck maybe recipes you would cook for them and memes you would show them.

If you have the skills, or heck even if you don’t (life’s too short, try everything, learn new skills), design something based on them. A dress, a cake, a room, a candy platter, a party, an outfit, a plushie, literally anything!

Make a breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner you think they would like! Maybe if you bring your lunch to work, make a bento for yourself that you would send to work with them.

Go on to your online shopping sites and make wishlists of thing you’d think they would want/like.

Do some research on perfume/cologne, and either track down or commission one you think they’d wear. You can do the same for all necessary toiletries if you’d like to take it a step further.

Play around on spotify (or your music service of choice) and make playlists for various scenarios.

Piggybacking of the last one, find a song that you would make their ringtone and think of what their contact name would be in your phone.

Pick out a ring you think would be the engagement/wedding ring they would give you.

Make paper doll's of you/ your self insert and your f/os) along with attachable paper clothes!

If you have access to a printer and a blank notebook/sketchbook along with some glue, you can make a scrapbook with pictures of your f/o(s)! You can also add drawings you made and anything like stickers, washi tape, etc.

This one is digital, edit a transparent of your f/os) into a selfie of yours to make a couples photo! You can print it out and put it in a frame. Also, Dollar Tree sells frames that you can also paint, put stickers on, anything!

There is an app called Social Dummy, create a social media world with you and all your F/O’s on it!

Make perler bead pixel art of your f/o.

The morning rays kissed Rafayel's pale skin, sun beams shining through the slit in the drawn curtains. The massive house lay still in the early morning air as he stirs awake. Unfamiliar bedding under him, his first night in this maze of a mansion, but he never felt so loved.

He kept his eyes closed, listening to the songs of the birds outside. The silken sheets under his near naked body kissed his skin, memories from last night running through his mind. Strong arms, warm chest, plump lips pressed to his.

The bed beside him dips, warmth of another body pressing on his back, strong and muscular. Rafayel pretends to be asleep, keeping his multicolored eyes closed, laying unmoving on the obscenely massive bed. A large hand threads through his messy purple locks, nails scratching at his scalp lovingly. 

"Are you awake?" Sylus's deep, husky voice whispers in his ears, warmth spreading through his body, a flush already forming on his face. Sylus's other hand cups his throat, palm pressed firm as he turns Rafayel onto his back, hovering over his smaller lover. 

"...no..." Rafayel pouts, bottom lip jutting out as he peeks an eye open. He is struck breathless at the man on top of him, silver hair messy and out of place for seemingly the first time in his life, a smile spread on his wide mouth, and blush painting the very tips of his ears.

"Can you be?" The hum of his voice vibrates Rafayel to his core. Sylus's red eyes flickering between Rafayel's and his pouty lips. His larger thumb rubbing a circle on the base of his throat, so warm it feels like a fire blooming on his flesh. Every little touch, every small glance made Rafayel's stomach explode with butterflies. How had he gotten so lucky to have this gorgeous man all to himself?

Rafayel's hand comes up, stroking up Sylus's cheek before his fingers thread through his lover's messy locks, pulling him towards himself. The chuckle that bubbles in his ear makes his heart soar, the most beautiful sound he's ever fucking heard.

"Dummy..." Rafayel sulks, huffing out as Sylus lays his full weight on top of him. Their bare torsos pressed together, skin on skin, bringing the memories from the night before into his mind. 

They've been together for four months, dates, dinners, outings. But never have they spent the night together - until last night. 

Sylus's hot mouth inching all over his entire body, his hands groping his flesh, kneading it. The noises of pleasure he drew out of the older man, the way he felt inside of him. Rafayel couldn't help but grow hard, his length pressing to Sylus's large thigh.

"Already wanting more, fishy?" His deep voice sent a shiver down Rafayel's spine, his heart speeding in his chest. "I thought after last night you needed a rest." Sylus ran his nose along Rafayel's warm neck, inhaling his scent, breathing him in. Rafayel tried to swallow his gasp, he found himself doing this often with his lover, every single thing Sylus had done took his breath away.

"Just..." Voice unfamiliar and soft. "Just thinking about you..." He allows himself to admit, to give in and open up to Sylus. Push aside his jokes and just bask in this love, allow to be loved. 

"Mmm, but I'm right here, darling," Lips placed to the hollow of his throat, smiling and teasing only how Sylus would. The butterflies never resting in his gut. Sylus runs his hands down his half naked body, slow, almost like he was trying to remember it from touch alone. Making their way down to his hips, Sylus places a firm kiss to Rafayel's neck before flipping them both over, earning a shocked squeal from the shorter man.

"Sylus!" Rafayel yells, hands gripping his lover's strong arms. Sylus chuckles, warm and bubbling as he steadies him on his lap. Rafayel sits up, beautiful colored eyes wide, pink lips parting as he pants.

"What?" He mocks, attempting to match the shock of Rafayel's words, causing the growing blush on the younger man's face to brighten, a pout on his perfect shaped lips. Sylus wanted to cup his gorgeous face and kiss him senseless. 

Rafayel doesn't answer, instead he looks down. A godly sculpted below him, abs and pecs aching for his touch. He reaches a hand out and flattens it on Sylus's toned stomach, feeling the dips of his muscles. Sylus watches without comment, his eyes gliding over Rafayel's face, watching every micro expression that crosses over him. He lets his eyes wander, to Rafayel's chest, watching it swell in deflate with every breath, down to his bare stomach, and finally landing on the tent that still sat in his pants.

Rafayel didn't notice, for the most part at least. Slowly gliding his hand up to Sylus's large chest, hand resting over his heart, the heart that now belonged to him. Feeling it beat its own special song, singing just for him and him alone. He wanted to record it, compose a symphony just to mimic this. But the growing movement under him stalled his thoughts. 

"T-teasing me when you have the same issue..." He couldn't look Sylus in the eye as he spoke, stuttering out as he tried to focus on the heartbeat in his hand. Sylus's thumbs rubbed over his hip bones right over Rafayel's pajama pants. 

"How could I control myself when my beautiful boy is sitting on my lap, looking ravishing with his messy bed head and the blush that is covering his blessed face?" Sylus's compliments never failed to hit Rafayel right in his core, something so lyrical, poetic the way he spoke about him. He could feel the heart race under his fingertips, the skin warm in a flush. He lifted his eyes up, meeting the ruby set that already stared at him, called out to him.

So many words lay unsaid in those mysterious eyes, Rafayel wished he could dive in and listen to them all. But he also didn't want to rush things, didn't want to scare him off with his past, present, and inevitable future. For right now, the look in those red eyes, that was enough for him. Being in these strong arms, feeling this racing heart, this would be where he always wants to be. Feeling those delicious but teasing lips on his skin, listening to the god awful singing that came out of them, he would crave that until his last dying breath.

Nothing warmed his heart more than knowing he is Sylus's and Sylus is his.

Walpurgis no Kaiten Trailer #2 Breakdown

Aniplex dropped a 35-second trailer with new footage from Walpurgis no Kaiten, so let's take a look and see what we got!

Homura falls backwards in a stained glass cylinder that contains a spiraling staircase (we'll see the whole thing in a later shot). Note that this is the doppelganger because of her headband, and that the glass has Homura's distinctive diamond sigil on it, among other things.

We finally get our dance scene--not a pas de deux, but a waltz! Headband!Homura spins Madoka around, leading the action, and she appears to have taken Madoka by surprise. Note that waltzes also involve going in a circle.

I've talked before about how the doppelganger appears to be courting Madoka in the first trailer and how I think a Swan Lake-style "choice" might be forthcoming, so add this to the evidence pile. Madoka's voice over, "I will go with hope," also seems to suggest a choice.

I'm not sure where this is located, but I think it might be Madoka's house? A house, anyway. There are photos on the walls and chairs.

Doppelganger Homura is down so bad, y'all. And can you blame her? Also NOTE HER EYE COLOR HERE, HER EYES ARE RED, not brown (key visual) or purple (original Homura). Eyes are the window to the soul...

(Red eyes automatically make me think "Incubator", but I'm withholding judgement on that until we get more info.)

HELLO VISUAL METAPHOR!! Okay, so first off, we have a fan spinning in a circle, a cross-quartered circle with a closed eye at the center (!!!) surrounded by taped cardboard holding together a box marked with the emblems of "fragile, handle with care". I feel like that one speaks for itself.

(What do you want to bet that that eye opens.... EVERYTHING IN THIS WORLD IS SPYING ON YOU.)

Continuing the eye focus, here's a close-up on one of the Clara Dolls holding up a magnifying glass to enlarge their own eye. This is Ibari (Pride). Note the yellow flowers around the lower part of the glass and that Ibari's eyelash is similar in size and shape to the one on the box fan in the previous shot.

My guess is that the Clara Doll's role in this story is primarily as a group/decoration/background element rather than full characters in their own right (the chorus witnessing the action in a theater production, as it were), but I love how this shot turned out and would be happy to see more like this.

Doppelganger Homura (?) examines her reflection in a compact mirror. She has the headband, but her eyes are purple here, like the original. I think she's adjusting her appearance here--literally, if she can shapeshift--to match the original, especially since she's also missing the dark collar that characterized the doppelganger in the key visual. Note sure what is going on with her headband when I look more closely--it seems to stick out from one side of her head and doesn't lie flat??

The scallop shape and the "Dummee Venus" inscription are a little too on the nose in my opinion... Venus being the goddess of love and beauty who was born out of seafoam on a scallop shell. [Is there a Botticelli reference in the house? TBD!!]

I suppose this could be the original Homura here, but the context makes more sense for the doppelganger. Again, note the round/circle, and mirror imagery and focus on the eyes.

EDIT: I was wrong, "Dumme" is German for "fool", not a misspelling of the English "dummy", so this could be the original Homura after all. Although Walpurgisnacht is also a fool, so... I guess we'll see with more context, but I'm leaning towards Original Flavor Homura for now.

View of the spiral staircase from above... a circle combined with a straight line makes a spiral. Note that the surrounding glass has Walpurgisnacht's signature motif of "peacock tails", suggesting a connection between the doppelganger Homura and Walpurgisnacht, and that Walpurgisnacht herself appears as a circle on radar.

The staircase abruptly cutting off and going nowhere also seems like a metaphor, huh.

Balloons going free, compare to a similar shot in Rebellion where they are trapped in a glass dome where Kyouko and Homura have lunch (more on this in a bit). Boundaries and prisons are breaking down, magical girls/witches cannot be contained any longer.

"Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?" Devil Homura is torn down and overthrown. Interesting that one stocking is red-striped (or is that a ribbon wrapped around her from someone else) and the other is pure white--but with a black bow around the ankle.

Madoka enjoys a nice date with...??

(Note: this shot is in a different place from the one that immediately follows; I believe the two are deliberately juxtaposed to be misleading. More on this in a bit.)

God, I love this shot. Half a glass (glass half full, even) with their surroundings in miniature, and the glass is cracked and held together by threads of gold (kintsugi). The ring makes her a magical girl, the outfit is a Mitakihara middle school uniform, and her hair is green, so this is someone new.

also the diamond-shaped placemats juxtaposed with the circular saucer.

Hi, new character!! I have so many questions, but it looks like they really are in a teacup, or at least a different teacup--the old glass dome from Rebellion (or someplace similar) is full of trees and also flooded and now home to water lilies and lily pads.

Nagisa is spending quality time in the ball pit (insert DashCon meme here). And so is this new girl... my guess is human!Charlotte, but I don't have any evidence about that besides vibes and the way these two shots mirror each other.

I love this shot so much! Not sure what's going on, but there's Sayaka in her magical girl costume at the bottom.

Based on the similar backgrounds in these two shots, Madoka is either having tea with Mami or tea with someone else in the same space. Cake and dessert and birthday themes, a la Charlotte's labyrinth.

Her eyes are hidden by her bangs and she's smiling. Piloe of books/records (alternate universes, if Magia Record imagery is anything to go by).

Whatever's happening, Kyubey is so in on it, lol.

The salamander representing Homura's dark orb (powers) is stabbed with some kind of metal, near a tea cup, causing it to disappear and explode. It then transforms into a shackle. That's probably not good.

(Whose arm, though? Homura is the most likely suspect, but we'll see.)

White feathers ascending to heaven, a circular vortex made of clouds and shining light, spinning, spiraling...

One of which is a mixture of black and white. This feels very significant, given my earlier predictions about "confronting one's opposite" and "people are neither nor good nor bad but a mix a both" being major themes.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll have more thoughts later, but that's my quick off-the-cuff reactions for now!

hey you! welcome to my faq masterpost! i see a lot of the same questions being asked over and over again so, heres somethin somethin to help everyone out. sorted below the cut! will likely be updated as i see necessary.

psds/photopea

q: "what is a psd?" a: a photoshop document. theyre basically files that save your layers so you can share them. people typically use psds to share colorings, but theres also different psd templates that people make and upload

q: "how do i make psds?" a: photopea for dummies by canarysage explains adjustment layers pretty well! really psd making is all about messing around with what you know and figuring out what you like. theres no right or wrong way to really do it

q: "how do i use psds in photopea?" a: open the psd file, then drag and drop the folder into the canvas youre working on

q: "can i use psds in [program that isnt photoshop/photopea]?" a: no

q: "how do i import photos on photopea?" a: file -> open and place -> pick and place your image

q: "how do i move images on photopea?" a: edit -> free transform

q: "how do i insert gifs into photopea?" a: gifs in photopea are imported as layers into folders, all you do is open it in a new canvas and then drag and drop it into the canvas youre working on. then transform and move/resize as necessary.

general editing

q: "what are some good editing programs?" a: some good free ones id recommend would be photopea and ibispaint. for making gifs, ezgif is a good pick. i personally use dubious photoshop, but not everyone knows how to get that

q: "whats the tumblr banner size?" a: i personally use 711 x 400, but any variation of that works really

q: "how do i recolor gifs?" a: (for photopea) pretty similarly to how you insert gifs into other sorts of graphics. once you have the gif in your canvas, drag the psd folder on top of the rest of your edit (or just the gif folder if youre only recoloring a gif) like you would any other edit

q: "how do you clip gifs onto masks?" a: im not retyping this. heres a tutorial!

q: "how do i make graphics/edits?" a: okay so really theres no real correct way to do it. but advice id personally give a beginner is to pace yourself. dont try and jump in and do a million new things at once. start simple and work your way up

q: "how do i add read mores?" a: when you create a paragraph break (press the enter button) there should be a few buttons on the left side. a read more is the squiggly one

q: "how do i add more than 10 images in a post?" a: its a desktop only feature, so you have to use desktop tumblr

…color correct an image in photopea?

so, you’ve finally finished a psd. it’s everything you imagined and more. you go to apply it to your image and get…

…well, that. what the fuck, you may be thinking, this looked fine on my tester images! and it probably did! the problem with this image is that it’s just. overbearingly purple.

which may be fine for the image itself, but it doesn’t work for editing purposes. you end up with weird bits (why’s her hair blue? why’s the contrast so low?? what the fuck is happening) and an image that frankly hurts to look at. so, the question remains. how do you turn that into—

i. white balancing

if you keep up with photopea for dummies, you probably recognize this term from my post curves for dummies. i’ll go ahead and re-explain it, though.

white balancing is done using either a curves or levels layer—it doesn’t matter which, they both do the same function. i use levels because i don’t have to scroll to reach the eyedroppers on mobile LMFAO but they both do the exact same thing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

add a levels/curves layer below your psd folder and turn the psd off. look at your image and determine what you think are the darkest and lightest parts—or, if it’s easier, what parts you want to convert to #000000 black and #ffffff white. once you’ve figured that out, go into your levels layer.

see those three squares at the bottom? that’s the important part. first thing i’m going to do is tap that black square. the black square turns whatever color you pick into #00000 black, so i’m going to use the eyedropper it pulls up and select a darker part of my image

for this picture, i selected ena’s pupil, because it’s rather grayish in the original. this will help add some contrast. (also i zoomed in really far because i have shaky hands and wanted to make sure i was “aiming” correctly. you don’t have to do that i’m just insane)

repeat this process with the white square. the white square turns whatever color you pick into #ffffff white, so pick a lighter part of your image. also, for the sake of my sanity, do not choose a skintone when doing that. for the love of god

mega zoom to the rescue again. i picked the whites of her eyes because those look really weird if they’re not white, frankly. other good choices are highlighted areas on objects or things that are already white (like the paper in her sketchpad)

now we’re going to do the gray square. this is the part which is trickiest, so don’t be annoyed if it takes a few tries. choose the color in your image that you want converted to gray—in other colors, figure out which color is most overpowering and select that. i recommend not picking a saturated color for this, because it’ll look—

—really bad. ow, green. i recommend picking a color that’s reasonably close to gray already, but it depends on how much correcting your image actually needs. you just have to eyeball it.

pixels. for this image, i chose the decals on this picture frame in the background; they’re reasonably close to gray but still purple enough to do the correcting i want.

after white balancing, your image should look significantly better already. here’s mine at this stage:

it’s a little strange, but that’s going to be covered by our psd anyway, so don’t worry about it. if your picture still looks really off, you can add a second levels/curves layer and white balance again, and you can just repeat that until it looks how you like it. i’m pretty happy with this, though, so we’re moving on.

ii. photo filter

(photopea refreshed on me so i had to recreate my white balancing, forgive me if it looks inconsistent. let this be a lesson on saving your wips as psds)

okay, step two! this one is way easier, don’t worry. add a photo filter layer above your white balancing layer and below your psd. fair warning, this step requires bare minimum knowledge of color theory—as in, what colors are opposite each other on the color wheel. godspeed

look at your image and figure out what looks off about it. feel free to toggle your psd on and off as you do this, it’ll help. in my case, mine ended up too warm and too saturated. so, to fix this, i’m adding a very low saturation green photo filter

which, obviously, made it… green:

to fix that, we’re just lowering the percentage of the photo filter here. how much you lower it depends on your image and your personal preference, but, for reference, i set mine to about 30%. if you want to, you can mess with blending modes and opacity in this step, but i just left it as is

yay, less green ^_^ like with the white balancing, you can add as many photo filters as you want. i’m real lazy so i’m just doing one, but you can just keep stacking them until your image looks right—sky’s the limit. for me, i’m going to step three:

iii. brightness/contrast

pretty self explanatory. brightness/contrast isn’t a color corrector; it’s a lighting corrector. it adds brightness and contrast, obviously. look at your image again with and without the psd, and figure out what it needs. the psd i’m using for this is pretty dark, so i’m adding brightness and lowering the contrast:

like so. this step can also be accomplished with curves, levels, or exposure, but brightness/contrast is the simplest and least finicky of those options, so i personally prefer it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

pretty minimal change, but i wanted to demonstrate this step anyway, as it can be pretty important on some images. with that done, time for the last step:

iv. selective color

like all the previous steps, this goes under your psd and above the other layers we’ve added. what exactly you do with selective color once again depends on your image and psd, but what i did was darken my blacks and whites,

very minimally adjust the neutrals,

remove magenta from magenta and add magenta to green,

and remove cyan from my reds and yellows.

which, all in all, gives me this:

which, if you’ll recall, is a far cry from our original image. now, if you turn the psd back on, you’ll get this:

which i consider a marked improvement from what we originally had. these steps can be mimicked on pretty much any image as long you tweak it enough. obviously you’ll have to finagle and adjust depending on your image, but it’s actually pretty easy! observe:

Jokes aside: thank you 💜 I'm very flattered that a lot of you have such faith in me and my writing.

Thou Shalt Not Covet was something I wrote in a feverish haze about a week ago because I was high-key panicking over not having been able to draw or write in what felt like forever and my brain just latched on to that story. Which wasn't at all what I had planned but, apparently, what I needed at the time, so I try not to hold it against myself.

It's basically a fic about Ga On being a raging ball of jealousy for 10k straight.

... or gay, I guess?

So the title is a bit misleading since there is actually A LOT of coveting going on. Coveting of Yo Han, to be more specific.

Ga On you little sinner you.

And it's 10k before editing, I should say. Because since I wrote it with a fever, I'll probably have to add a bit as I edit. Understandably, I tend to miss a lot of details when I'm too feverish. The fic is set just before Kim Choong Sik's first trial, so around episode 10. Which means I'm going to have to add a couple of warnings because Yo Han does not play fair. Whenever I write Yo Han as he was during the drama I'm reminded of how far he's come in Who Holds the Devil because dear LORD is he a manipulative asshole in this one x'D

So yeah. Jealous!Ga On and a Yo Han who doesn't pull his punches. A recipe for disaster, in other words. But they work it out eventually.

Here's a snippet from the beginning of the story (though unedited so there might be changes before it's posted)

Ga On had never understood how utterly devastating jealousy could be until he felt it — truly felt it — for the first time.

If asked, he would have said he wasn't a jealous person. He may have felt a burst of it once or twice as he and Soo Hyun had grown up — whenever another boy had shown an interest in her — but it had faded just as quickly as it had flared up. Perhaps because, deep down, Ga On had known that Soo Hyun only had eyes for him.

There was no need for him to feel jealous since the odds of him losing Soo Hyun to another were slim.

And, in hindsight, that must have lulled Ga On into a false sense of security, giving him the impression that he wasn't the jealous type. That he was calm and rational enough not to get upset, and knew how to handle the surge of emotions that might occur. Not realizing that what he'd felt at the time wasn't jealousy — or at least not the true depth of what he was actually capable of feeling.

Ga On had underestimated his own possessiveness.

And it wasn't until he met Kang Yo Han that Ga On knew true jealousy.

His first clue that he'd misjudged himself should have been his inexplicable desire to remain within Yo Han's orbit despite having numerous reasons to stay away. All Ga On wanted was to keep pushing closer, to keep proving himself, to keep asking for that intoxicating attention that crackled like electricity down his spine. He may not want to name what he was experiencing — instinctively shying away from a revelation he knew would change his life beyond what he was ready to deal with, finding comfort in denial — but he still craved the rush it gave him. He couldn't help wanting more.

His second clue should have been his own reaction as he'd watched Jung Sun Ah fuss with Yo Han's tie during their photo shoot.

The anger Ga On had felt in that moment — curling black and vicious inside his chest — had been an overreaction of the kind that should have given him pause. But, somehow, it hadn't. Somehow, Ga On hadn't even registered it as something out of the ordinary. Some part of him had even felt justified in his anger.

As if he had a right to feel that possessive over his chief.

But the rational part of Ga On knew that he didn't. He may be sleeping in Yo Han's house and helping him with his mission to upend the world as they knew it, but they were still nothing more than coworkers.

Yo Han had never promised him anything.

Expect jealousy, anger, and a bit of angst. Because Ga On has abandonment issues and it actually hits pretty hard when he starts suspecting that he's not so special to Yo Han after all...

As for How to Build a Family For Dummies, the title doesn't fit the vibe AT ALL which is why I'm calling it a working title for now. It just sounds way too cute and cheerful for the actual theme and content of the story x'D But more about that in another reply since I got a specific ask about it!

Aaaaand when it comes to my health, things are really bad, unfortunately. The kind of bad I haven't had since January, with daily exhaustion fevers and lack of focus. And it's probably not going to get better anytime soon since the main cause is related to something outside of my control that will most likely take months to fix. So it's really just a matter of me trying to hold on as long as I can and, if I'm lucky, I won't break completely before I reach the other side. I guess we'll see?

WIP Tag Game

This community is severely parasocial. People are commenting on Melanie’s posts begging her to speak out about the allegations and among those comments there’s people claiming to be spiraling and having mental breakdowns over the allegations. That’s concerning and not normal, and I wish the fandom was smarter to understand why having a mental breakdown/spiral over some famous woman’s allegations isn’t normal.

On the other hand, I’m surprised such a large number of fans never knew about the allegations. For me, it’s been impossible to be in fan spaces and on fan pages without seeing comments saying “Felonie Martinez” or asking “didn’t she SA someone?” It’s super surprising they managed to avoid all that and get this far without knowing because it’s literally unavoidable.

Something I keep seeing is people stating the allegations, but then adding on the rumor that she’s difficult to work with. I think that makes y’all look really dumb because who the hell cares that she was difficult to work with when she was 20? Even as a Melanie Martinez fan, the allegations are more important and shouldn’t be lumped in with that dumb shit. That could easily just be an opinion from some bitter associate that didn’t enjoy her work environment and makes the allegations sound the same when put along side it. You just don’t sound very smart putting something dumb, petty and irrelevant beside something serious. It’s like: “She SA’d someone and also her merch quality has gone down.” Huh? What does that have to do with it? That’s so irrelevant.

EDIT: I’m seeing people claim she SA’d a minor which again- spreading misinformation doesn’t help the victim. I don’t get why people don’t understand that. Lies aren’t helpful to Timothy, dummy.

People are also saying she draws CP which is simply just not true. I saw a post here on tumblr of someone saying that and not even showing the art, and I’m suspicious of that because wouldn’t you want to show people the “terrible” art Melanie drew?

The first one is a self-portrait and the second isn’t even inappropriate. It was so easy to find these photos and debunk this rumor for myself. If you want people to take the allegations seriously, you need to focus on getting the facts out rather than tacking bullshit onto it. I understand that two issues can exist at once, but these are all non-issues that aren’t helpful to Timothy.

Finally, only Melanie and Timothy know what happened in 2017 and it’s not our situation to get involved in. This goes back to the fandom being severely parasocial. I don’t think Melanie is going to speak on the issue and that’s ok because it’s not our situation. When did we become so entitled? You don’t know either of these women and all these allegations should mean to you is deciding whether or not to support anymore.

I don’t like Melanie as a person because I don’t know her. She makes art I enjoy and that’s all I’ve invested my emotions & love into. Stop enmeshing yourself with celebrities and using them as a crutch for your mental illnesses. You like her art, not her. Telling her through comments that you’re spiraling and having a mental breakdown over her situation is sick. I don’t care if you believe the allegations are true, y’all are freaks for that and two things can be true at once. Go outside.

"Masters of the Air detail- Part 4-The Lemmons magneto scene E4.

"Apple released one scene with Master Sgt. Lemmons, the Crew Chief, and the rest appeared recently in E4.

"He had an engine problem that they were troubleshooting just before the engine start for the mission. Lemmons actually rode in the gear well of number 3 fixing the engine, as the Fortress taxied out on three engines.

"Cary, the director for the first four episodes, was asking about what Lemmons could be fixing and wanted to know if various things were plausible. One was changing a carburetor, uh, no. It’s not only a massive job but doesn’t fit with Lemmons riding in the gear well. I suggested working on a magneto, as just about the only things that you can get to, through the access panel in the firewall on a B-17, are the magnetos and the starter.

"Okay he said, can we change the magneto? Uh, no, not within the confines of this scene and taxiing out to takeoff. How about setting the magneto points as it would fit the timeline, look good and would be plausible. He said to set it up. Okay, off we go.

"Edit- I did not have access to Lemmons book or John Orloff’s notes at the time this scene was being discussed. Soon after Jessica was kind enough to give me a copy of Lemmons book and it said that he indeed did adjust the magneto points from inside of the gear well.

"I talked to Stewart Heath from BGI. A guy who can, and did, make miracles happen. We talked about the magneto, and I showed him what it and the B-17 accessory section looked like through the firewall opening. He was also going to build a B-17 engine nacelle for this scene!

"I said that almost any radial engine magneto would work and that I could source one if he needed. He said go so I contacted Carl Scholl at Aerotrader in California and asked if he had a mag for a Curtis Wright R1820. Of course he did! And he shipped it off to us in the UK. Thanks Carl.

"Stewart made the nacelle and a box housing the real mag, a dummy mag and starter. It was painted black and looked pretty good on camera.

"Raff Law is the actor who portrayed Sgt. Lemmons. He and I sat down with the ‘accessory box’ and I taught him how to look like he was setting up and adjusting the points on a magneto.

"I pictured the original WWII radial engine feeler gauge tool, with the bent ends, in my toolbox back home and hoped that Props Department may have something close. They supplied some nice period tools and Raff learned what he needed to do on the table at our “office”. Next was time for him to practice in the nacelle that Stewart and BGI built.

"During the building of the nacelle the oil tank was a topic of discussion. I gave them some photos, especially of the stenciling which could be visible and they, as usual, did a wonderful job.

"The nacelle was set up for the scene and the video walls were set up underneath the nacelle. Incidentally the wheels and tires used on MOTA were actual un-airworthy B-17 wheels and tires from the Collings Foundation. Some of you Collings pilots might recognize the flat spots on the tires!! It is cool to see some actual B-17 parts that flew a lot and made it into the series. We will not talk about the tread pattern though will we…

"Several camera angles set up in and around the nacelle and really looked good and helped to convey just how difficult it must have been for Sgt. Lemmons to accomplish what he did. Amazing for sure. I only hope that the Lemmons family is happy with the result.

"So much was put into making this and every scene as rich and authentic as possible that it is a shame that so many of these details didn’t make the final cut. But that’s the way this business is, it’s better to have too much and cut things out than to have too little and the need for more. MOTA was way up on the quality and detail and doing it with all of this specialized aircraft equipment is many times more difficult to do than most other subjects. Well done folks! So many people behind the scenes going above and beyond to make this special [...]"
