Hobbes Was Right
The violence that has engulfed the world is the predictable outcome of the lack of a clear Soveriegn.
We had the Pax Romana.
Then we had the Pax Britannica...
In theory, we should now have the Pax Americana.
However, nobody thinks Joe Biden can act upon that principle.
The Leviathan's throne is empty.
There is no real deterrent. Nobody things the elderly, doddering old finger on the red button will actually press it.
This is why there is conflict in The Ukraine, in The Congo, in the Middle East, in the Orient...
There's no sheepdog to keep the wolves in check.
So we have reverted to a state of nature. A War of all against all.
Look at the rockets flying over Israel and Iran.
Homo Homini Lupus.

About Turkuzbek, do you associate them with any symbols or motifs? And also are there any au's for them??
symbols...hmmmmm
sometimes I call them the tea pair, because they both love chugging down that good good scalding hot black tea in the summer!
other than that.. not really? they do both have a crescent and star in their flags but like. so do a lot of other countries
aus..ok brace yourself for ALL the au ideas that popped in my head since shipping turkuzbek:
beauty and the beast au: takes place in a fictional world, but clothes + possibly palace is inspired off of 18th century ottoman empire. uzb is belle, turkey's the beast obviously, couldn't settle on a maurice so just made it her sibs, russia is gaston....??? I felt like the dynamic really works with them, my favorite movie for my favorite ship <3
cardverse au: ok so in this au uzb is a seamstress for the royal family of clubs. all of a sudden she finds herself between a rock and a tight place as she must spin straw into gold. enter turkey, a joker with no real loyalty to any of the main 4 kingdoms. he offers her help in exchange for something of hers, and helps her get the job done while also making small talk. she slowly finds herself laughing and having fun with this rando, and his occasional visits to her sewing room soon become the highlight of her day. she initially gives him her bracelet, necklace, any jewelry she has...
until she's given the ultimate task of spinning a whole roomful of straw into gold in one day. if she succeeds, she marries the king as his royal consort. if she doesn't she is executed. she hates both of these ideas and is freaking out, especially since she doesn't have anything to give turkey anymore. he helps her anyway, and then goes by the "if you don't have anything left to give, you can pay with your body" philosophy, and essentially asks her to elope with him. she agrees, and when the king opens the door the next day he finds a room full of gold and no royal consort-to-be.
college au: he's the business major to her fashion design major. he tried complaining about his workload once and she dunked on him for that. they regularly go on joyrides together. i was considering making them fiances? if it made the au more interesting...
if we're not going the fiance route, they both have a mutual friend(korea), who sneakily invites both of them to the campus's music and dance event on the basis of korea's club performing kpop dance. uzbekistan is so uncomfortable with the rave music and promises herself she'll stay for korea's performance and leave the moment it's over. she pulls her phone out to record korea and looks to her side and HER CRUSH IS THERE??? HUH??
so they both stare at each other like "what are YOU doing here??" turkey's even more confused since she's the last person he'd expect to show up to a rave and dance performance event. by the time the performance is over, korea pats them both on the back and goes "I'm so glad my 2 best friends showed up to support me!"
korea what a sneaky shipper....
monster high au: turkey's a werewolf(haha turan moment) and she's a werecat. they do NOT get along at first, but slowly their rivalry turns into something like romantic tension as they point tennis balls and laser pointers in each others' faces threatening to use them. next thing you know they're dating??? w,what
also important to mention: kyrgyzstan's an orange cat.
ever after high au: this was briefly considered, but I can see uzb being sort of like ashlynn "oh yea we gotta follow our destinies" and then dates the son of the huntsman(turkey) who is um. Not a royal
snow white au: so this was like a joke. she gets poisoned, he leans in to kiss her and then she immediately wakes up before he does the deed. "ASTAGHFIRULLAH YOU MUST REPENT WHAT WERE YOU ABOUT TO DO"
she marries him anyway
reverse snow white au: she's the prince, turkey's snow white, and the dwarves? 7 different azerbaijans.
non-country/human au: she gives me boy mom vibes. not like an unhealthy way, but it makes sense that she would have a son(??) also turkey definitely insists on having like 3 more kids.
uzb: first of all who's doing the giving birth part
and turkey as a dad defo gives me yusuf vibes from otoyomegatari
i...think that's it?? maybe I'll add more when i remember

Hamilton: Allisons return as technical director will only strengthen Mercedes | 2023 Azerbaijan Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton is pleased with Mercedes’ decision to return James Allison to the role of technical director in a straight swap with Mike Elliott. Mercedes confirmed last week the two most senior members of its technical team have exchanged roles. Allison, who joined Mercedes in 2017 as its technical director and remained in that position until 2021, has returned to the role. He has swapped places with Elliott, who took over as technical director when Allison became chief technical officer in 2021. Having dominated the seasons which followed the introduction of the sport’s V6 hybrid turbo regulations in 2014, Mercedes has suffered a downturn in performance in recent seasons. It won an eighth consecutive constructors’ championship in 2021 but Hamilton was narrowly beaten to the drivers’ championship by Max Verstappen in controversial circumstances. Mercedes produced a strikingly original design when F1 introduced new technical regulations for the 2022 season. But the car proved unsuccessful, the team spent much of the year labouring to work out why it did not perform as expected, and they only scored a single win at the penultimate race. The team remained faithful to its ‘zero sidepod’ design this year, but when the season began it discovered it had fallen further behind world champions Red Bull. Early in the year Mercedes accepted it would have to change aspects of its design philosophy in order to become competitive. Allison’s return to the role of technical director will move his focus more onto their current car. He had previously invested more time into preparing for the next generation of F1 rules which are due to arrive in 2026. Advert | Become a RaceFans supporter and go ad-free Hamilton, who hasn’t won a race since December 2021, believes the team’s change at the top of its technical division is the right move. “James has always been a part of the team, obviously he was focused a little bit on another area before,” he said in today’s press conference at the Baku City Circuit. “Having him step back in to support and work alongside Mike I think is only going to strengthen the team moving forwards.” Allison, who is 55, had two stints each at Ferrari and Renault (the latter also competing as Lotus and Benetton during his time) before he joined Mercedes. “He’s obviously got an amazing amount of experience,” Hamilton continued. “So I think moving forwards it’s just going to be great for the team. Particularly with all the things we want to achieve, not only on-track but off-track, I think it’s going to be good. RETURN OF THE RELICS OF THE APOSTLE BARTHOLOMEW FROM ANASTASIOPOLIS TO LIPARI (6th.c.)
The Transfer of the Relics of the Apostle Bartholomew took place at the end of the sixth century. His apostolic activity and martyr’s end are remembered by the Church on June 11. The Apostle Bartholomew suffered for Christ in Armenian Albanus (now Baku_ Azerbaijan) in 71, where his holy relics were. Numerous miracles occurred from the relics of the holy Apostle, and many of the unbelieving were converted to Christ. Under the emperor Anastasius (491-518) the relics of the Apostle Bartholomew were transferred into the newly constructed city of Anastasiopolis (or Dura) and remained there until the end of the sixth century.
When the city of Anastasiopolis was captured by the Persian emperor Chozroes, Christians took up the chest with the relics of the Apostle Bartholomew and fled with it to the shores of the Black Sea. Having overtaken them, pagan priests threw the chest with the relics of the Apostle Bartholomew into the sea. Four other chests containing the relics of the holy Martyrs Papian, Lucian, Gregory and Acacius were also thrown into the sea.
By the power of God the chests did not sink into the depths of the sea, but miraculously floated upon the waves and reached Italy. The chest with the relics of the Apostle Bartholomew came to land at the island of Lipari, and the remaining chests continued their journey and came to land at various places in Italy. The chest with the relics of the Martyr Papian halted at Sicily, the Martyr Lucian at Messina, the Martyr Gregory at Calabria, and the Martyr Acacius at Askalon.
The arrival of the relics of the holy Apostle Bartholomew was revealed to Bishop Agathon of the island of Lipari, who went with clergy to the shores of the sea, took the chest from the waters and solemnly transferred it to church.
Myrrh flowed from the relics of the Apostle Bartholomew, healing people of various illnesses. The holy relics remained in the church of the island of Lipari until the middle of the ninth century, when the island was captured by pagans. Christian merchants took up the holy relics of the Apostle Bartholomew. They transferred them to Beneventum, near Naples, where they were received with great veneration and placed in the city's main church.
APOSTLE TITUS OF THE SEVENTY AND BISHOP OF CRETE ( 1st. c.)
Saint Titus, Apostle of the Seventy was a native of the island of Crete, the son of an illustrious pagan. In his youth he studied Hellenistic philosophy and the ancient poets. Preoccupied by the sciences, Titus led a virtuous life, not devoting himself to the vices and passions characteristic of the majority of pagans. He preserved his virginity, as the Hieromartyr Ignatius the God-bearer (December 20) testifies of him.
For such a manner of life the Lord did not leave him without His help. At age twenty Saint Titus heard a voice in a dream, suggesting that he abandon Hellenistic wisdom, which could not provide salvation for his soul, but rather to seek that which would save him. After this dream, Saint Titus waited yet another year, since it was not actually a command, but it did guide him to familiarize himself with the teachings of the prophets of God. The first that he happened to read was the Book of the Prophet Isaiah. Having opened it to the 47th Chapter, he was struck by the words, speaking as it were about his own spiritual condition.
When news reached Crete about the appearance of a Great Prophet in Palestine, and about the great miracles He worked, the governor of the island of Crete (an uncle of Titus) sent him there. This Prophet was the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, incarnate of the Most Holy Virgin Mary Who came into the world for the redemption of the race of mankind from the oppression of ancestral sin.
At Jerusalem, Saint Titus saw the Lord. He heard His preaching and believed in Him. He witnessed the suffering and death of the Savior on the Cross, His glorious Resurrection and Ascension to Heaven. On the day of Pentecost the future apostle heard how the Twelve Apostles, after the descent of the Holy Spirit, spoke in various languages, among which was the Cretan language (Acts 2: 11).
Saint Titus accepted Baptism from the Apostle Paul and became his closest disciple. He accompanied Saint Paul on his missionary journeys, fulfilling the tasks entrusted to him. He was involved in establishing new churches, and was with Paul in Jerusalem.
Saint Titus was numbered among the Seventy Apostles and was made Bishop of Crete by the Apostle Paul. Around the year 65, not long before his second imprisonment, the Apostle Paul sent a pastoral epistle to his son in the Faith (Tit. 1: 4).
When the Apostle Paul was taken like a criminal to Rome to stand trial before Caesar, Saint Titus left his flock in Crete for a time and went to Rome to be of service to his spiritual Father. After Saint Paul’s death by martyrdom, Titus returned to Gortyna, the chief city of Crete.
Saint Titus peacefully guided his flock and toiled at enlightening the pagans with the light of faith in Christ. He was granted the gift of wonderworking by the Lord. During one of the pagan feasts in honor of the goddess Diana, Titus preached to a crowd of pagans.
When he saw that they would not listen to him, he prayed to the Lord, so that the Lord Himself would show to the mistaken people the falseness of idols. By the prayer of Saint Titus, the idol of Diana fell down and shattered before the eyes of all. Another time Saint Titus prayed that the Lord would not permit the completion of a temple of Zeus, and it collapsed.
By such miracles Saint Titus brought many to faith in Christ. After bringing the light of faith to the surrounding regions, Saint Titus died peacefully at the age of 97. At the time of his death, his face shone like the sun.

1 Corinthians 1:3-9
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 4 I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus, 5 that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge, 6 even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you, 7 so that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, 8 who will also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Matthew 5:14-19
14 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. 17 Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Something that’s important to note about the atrocities committed by the Israel is that they’re not necessarily different in nature from ongoing atrocities by the KAS, RSF, various Congo militias, Azerbaijan, Russia, or historical violence by US soldiers in West Asia. What’s different is a) scope (the attempted genocide of an entire city), b) victims (a plurality of children), c) the ease of stopping it. In every other case the US government has little to no leverage with the perpetrators of genocide.
It’s US funds that pour into the coffers of Congo mining companies and Saudi oil companies, but that’s through an indirect chain of supply. With Israel, the state has little regional support, little international support, and is entirely dependent on US backing. The US has propped it up from the start and could at any point in history have forced the Israeli government to stop its policy of abuse, apartheid, ethnic cleansing, and now out-and-out genocide. The US government has never used the leverage it has because it’s not in US interests. The majority of US citizens oppose the murder of thousands of civilians on the basis of ethnicity and with a word, the US government could halt the genocide of Palestinians directly.
That’s why this genocide attempt has provoked a global movement where other haven’t—because of all the others, the genocide of the Palestinians is one with a very simple large red button that says ‘stop genocide’ and can be pressed. There is no military, economic, or political power in the world that supports the genocide of the Palestinians that would bother to intervene if the US withdrew support from Israel. But Biden likes the taste of burnt flesh so he’ll keep the killing up as long as possible because one man’s personal philosophy of nuclear balance-of-power is worth more in the US House of Representatives than a city full of people who watch birds and cook dinner. People in the world have to watch a population of 2 million livetweet their own shattered limbs and headless relatives because one man and more broadly 250 ‘people’ are committed to genocide for the sake of a population that overwhelmingly supports the ceasefire.

i think dan's "difficult" first season at renault has been over-exaggerated 😬
the car was slower than anyone expecting another best of the rest finish thought it would, and dan made a few big blunders largely unrelated to the car's performance (Australia and Azerbaijan)
but! he was on par with hulk in quali pace almost immediately, beating him in the quali head to head 13-8, in a team which nico had been cemented in for multiple years already
dan beat him 11-4 in races and was on average finishing ~2 places higher at the end of the year.
there was never a consistent, and sizeable, gap in quali pace like we're seeing with lando now, and his race pace was good from the get-go.
esteban coming back from a year out further flattered the amazing year he had in 2020 in the teammate comparisons, but the car was also better that year (despite the 5th in the wcc). he drove amazingly well and he helped the enstone team to develop the car into something he knew he could perform at his peak in.
the renault car *also* had a similar philosophy to the red bull. so the vastly different mclaren was always going to be more difficult to adapt to after years in cars with similar traits.
but I think this (hopefully short lived) struggle is unprecedented in his career, so I don't think the 2019/2021 comparisons will be useful for now.
but the jump from '19 to '20 should provide hope in his capabilities in developing cars, and I don't have many doubts that he'll be able to do the same going into 2022 🤞
Yeah I do agree with this, the Renault had a similar design philosophy to the Red Bull and it only really took a few small tweaks from Daniels input from 2019 to 2020 to have it at a place where it was fighting.
He’s never really been at a team with a vastly different philosophy until now and he probably hasn’t really had to adapt his driving style since he joined F1.
I saw something before that was really interesting and I couldn’t agree more; if Carlos who struggled in the Renault was able to perform so well in the McLaren you could expect that Daniel as he was strong in the Renault would struggle in the McLaren.
To be honest I didn’t want people to get angry with me about what I was saying about Daniel and wanted to be able to have a positive spin on it. But yeah 2022 is hopeful when it comes to car development- thanks anon !
