away, away
i dragged my foot onwards
despite the persistent ache
weighing down my body and heart
as my head tries to clear itself.
away, away from everything
the grass that i have long trodded on
the banana trees i could see from windows
the humidity i could feel deep within my skin.
the antique chairs that would creak
wooden cabinets and drawers with memories
green curtains and sofas that are airy
a stained kitchen with white tiles.
the smell of delicious adobo
served in generous heaps
on the table with the faded blue cloth
the smell of instant coffee in the air.
the sound of karaoke bouncing off the walls,
with shared smiles and laughters
clinking of glass with either alcohol or juice
with the crunchy sounds of chocolate or chips.
dogs barking outside for strays
and whining for our attention
adorably wagging their tails
as they savored rubs and cuddles.
the little girl on the mirror
with an innocent, wide smile
her eyes so bright, assured
being inside the familiar walls.
however…
the little girl is no more
as she walks away from the house
waving teary goodbyes on one arm
a heavy bag on another.
she, or rather, i knew
i can always return
but only after many moons
as the world beckons me.
but it hurt.
it aches so much
that my heart bleeds
as i wanted nothing more to stay
if life had been kinder.

Beef Salpicao
The ideal dish saving you time in the kitchen and enabling you to spend more time with your family. This delectable Filipino dish is called beef salpicao. Recognized for its succulent beef cubes cooked in a flavorful sauce with a lot of garlic. It is easy to make and can be eaten as a main course or as an appetizer. One of the greatest comfort dishes ever. Delightful with a bowl of white rice.
To me, food is as much about the moment, the occasion, the location and the company as it is about the taste.
- Heston Blumenthal

Today is me and Plestia's 22nd birthday.
Along with joining on the global strike tomorrow on December 11th, I want to help Plestia's wish of being able to live in her home in Palestine by asking for people to contact the UN to invoke UN General Assembly Resolution 377, which was designed so that the UN can have an alternative choice of action for when a permanent member obstructs the Security Council from carrying out its purpose.

Featuring my grandmother’s ancient mirror. I cleaned that mirror multiple times but that mirror needs to be carbon dated 😂

listening to the mean girls musical movie soundtrack atm and for me it's an improvement on some ends and a downgrade on other ends LIKE some songs' instrumentals sound so much cleaner and less overwhelming which is GOOD for a musical movie adaptation but others aka world burn lose the oomph and the dramatics of the og musical counterpart which I understand on a directing aspect but is still quite saddening. that being said I actually quite like the soundtrack-

Cammy went on a trip for a month to meet up with old friends and told Harvey to do the same. So, Harvey had to fend for himself socially without his emotional support fairy and he realized, "Hey, I can do this. I don't need to have Camellia with me all the time to do these things I've been afraid to do....but I do *want* them here."
For Cammy's side, they realize that it's nice to have a home to keep coming back to. The fairy village used to be that, but Harvey's garden is their home now.
And yeah, I cry, what of it?

CAR RIDES C. 2017 | FRAMES "Nature persisted in a time and place which tried to tame it, gloriously expanding its limbs to devour the modern world, gloating that no matter how mighty the efforts are, it will continue to take up the space that had belonged to it for centuries." full piece: here

I think it’s really stupid to haggle at markets as a person from the global west going to poorer countries like idgaf….? it’s 6 bucks that’s a steal of a deal for you and who cares if it’s priced up because you’re a tourist. now I guess I feel differently if it’s an insane amount like a taxi from the airport costing $100 but if you’re getting a good deal in your currency why not take it …

Filipino Chicken Adobo
As the unofficial national dish of the Philippines, the most common preparation of adobo in the Philippines involves browning the meat first, then braising with vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, bay leaves, and black peppercorns; the proportions of these ingredients depend on your own preferences. I always enjoy this dish and prefer my adobo to be slightly saucy and savory, rather than sour. Filipino adobo is great with steamed white rice. And if there are any leftovers, adobo tastes better a few days later.
When we are with our loved ones around the table, something extraordinary happens. The charm of a good meal fuels a sense of belonging and connection, and the air is filled with the perfume of excellent food. My father would prepare a weekly batch of chicken and pork adobo while I was growing up. It's a memory I will always cherish.
"I realized very early the power of food to evoke memory, to bring people together, to transport you to other places, and I wanted to be a part of that." — José Andrés Puerta
