Caelum sat on the edge of his bed, staring at the wall as the night settled in, casting long shadows across the room. The earlier violence echoed in his mind, leaving a hollow ache in his chest — a turbulent mix of fear, anger, and a desperate longing for comfort.

A soft knock on the door pulled him from his thoughts. He turned to see Belos standing in the doorway, a deep concern in his eyes.

“My sweet prince,” Belos said softly, stepping into the room. He crossed the distance between them in a few strides, and sank down onto the bed beside Caelum. “I heard what happened... Are you okay?”

Caelum shook his head, unable to find the words to describe the whirlwind of emotions swirling inside him. He felt the man’s hand gently cup his face, his thumb brushing away a tear that had escaped down his cheek.

“I’m so sorry, Caelum,” Belos whispered, his voice filled with a deep sorrow. “You didn’t deserve any of that. You should never have had to go through something like this…”

Caelum leaned into his lover’s soothing touch, his body trembling like a leaf as the weight of the day’s events crashed over him.

“He... he said such horrible things, Belos. About my gender, about me being weak... And then he—” His voice cracked, and he choked back a sob.

Belos pulled him into a tight embrace, holding him close as hot tears streamed down his cheeks.

“You’re not weak,” he murmured. “You’re one of the strongest people I know. Surviving what you’ve been through, standing up for yourself — it takes incredible strength. Don’t let his words make you doubt that.”

The Emperor pulled back slightly, just enough to look him in the eyes. “He had no right to touch you,” he said firmly, a steely edge to his voice. “Let alone nearly end your life. What he did was unforgivable.”

Caelum smiled shakily, the fear in his heart easing just a little. “Thank you,” he whispered. “For being here. For always being here.”

Belos cast a soft, reassuring smile. “You’re very welcome, my sweet. I will always be by your side, you’re safe with me.”

Wait crying again bc I was rewatching The Intruder today (episode 4 of season 1) and I realized that like. The glyphs represent a few things in the narrative but one thing that's consistent is they're always there when Luz doesn't feel like she's good enough on her own. They appear to her as comfort in moments of self depreciation or self doubt, or she coincidentally learns them in episodes where she faces her fear of rejection or makes a mistake (at least this is true in terms of the first four base glyphs she discovers). It's the titans way of saying "you may have to do things differently, but you can do anything they can do" to Luz bc he cares about her

AND THEN. IN WATCHING AND DREAMING. WHEN THE TITAN PASSES ON AND THE GLYPHS DON'T WORK ANYMORE. IT'S BECAUSE NOW LUZ FINALLY FEELS LIKE SHE'S GOOD ENOUGH, ALL ON HER OWN. SHE'S LEARNED THAT SHE HAS INTRINSIC WORTH AS A PERSON AND SHE DOESN'T NEED TO MAKE UP FOR WHO SHE IS. So you know that scene in Futurama when Fry becomes a billionaire and is watching old sitcoms in his apartment? There's a joke when Leela tells him he can't do that and then there's a cutaway to him looking shabby in his apartment and you can hear the Sanford and Son theme song in the background, I need someone to make a video of Simon doing the exact same thing but with the Cheers theme song.

Someone will be like," you can't stay stuck in the 20th century" and then Simon says "oh yeah? watch me" and cut to him and his apartment watching Cheers. It would be so goddamn funny I'm begging.
