From the hills to the north of the Barossa Valley in Australia, you have the Eden Valley which is well-known for their Rieslings.  Today I am very lucky to be sampling one. The Pewsey Vale Vineyard was originally established in 1847 by Englishman Joseph Gilbert! Pewsey Vale Single Vineyard Estate Eden Valley Riesling 2018 -  This wine has a medium intensity bright straw colour.  It has a youthful, medium intensity nose showing a mix between lemon-lime and petrol, along with touches of peach and floral.  Nice fresh aromas.  The wine is dry with higher acidity, medium body, but more pronounced flavours.  You get an acidic prickle on your tongue and an angular mouthfeel.  The wine has a mix of citrus, lime rind mixed with petrol, whichis then followed with bramble leaf.  It has a medium-plus length finishing with tart citrus, rind and bramble leaf.  Lime specifically at the very end.  Nice bright tart citrus flavours.  Bring on a salad with feta and some toasted almonds to enjoy with this wine.  Will age well as well.  Stay tuned for my full tasting notes on mywinepal.com. @PewseyVale @wine_australia @pacific_bc #EdenValley #Riesling #winelover #vino #gourmet #bottlesofwine #winewise #wineoclock #whitewine #winetasting #drinkgoodwine #winetime #YVRblogger #wineknowledge #somm #wineeducation https://www.instagram.com/p/B-itP_3h0fL/?igshid=3297gnos4xq9

1847 was an important year in Australian wine as two things happened. First John Gilbert who moved from Britain to Australia planted Riesling and other grapes in the Eden Valley in what is known as the Pewsey Vale Vineyard.  This vineyard had 3 generations of Gilbert’s grow grapes till it was sold in the 1920’s, and then again in 1962 when Wyndham Hill-Smithbought the land and planted more…
