Sauvignon Blanc Pouilly-Fumé Domaine Chatelain 2019 Score 89 Do you drink French Sav? Favourite Sav? NZ or French? Pouilly-Fumé and Sancerre are France's top two expression of Sauvignon Blanc. They sit across from each other with the Loire river separating them in the east of the Loire Valley. Pouilly-Fumé is a little more subtle of the two. How it differs from its homeland of Bordeaux it is not blended with Semillon for a start, generally the better quality white wine from Bordeaux are blends like their reds. The bordeaux style is light and fruity with the loire more depth of fruit and herbs. Passaic Leognan style of Bordeaux’s famous left bank is rich and creamy. New Zealand more Gooseberry, Fresh cut grass, Green bell pepper and Jalapeno. The Loire and Bordeaux styles age considerably better than New Zealand too. This has an amazing freshness of balanced acidity and fruit. A real summers day wine with some complexity. Great with Salmon and chicken dishes. In my option Pouilly-Fumé and Sancerre are the best Sav's you can buy. I do enjoy good quality styles of most types. Who says Sav cant be top wine? Repost @thegrapegrind ✏️ The goal here is to create a stronger wine💪🏻 (not a sweeter wine🍬)! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ More sugar = higher alcohol levels! ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This process is often found in cooler climate regions. ❄️ You’ll see it in France 🇫🇷 and 🇩🇪 (It’s also legal and regulated in Oregon and The Finger Lakes in the USA 🇺🇸) when poor growing temps lead to low sugar levels! ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Chaptalization is actually illegal in many new world countries like Argentina 🇦🇷 and South Africa 🇿🇦 (as well as in California) 😯 ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #thegrapegrind #wineblog #wineblogger #wine #winestudy #winestudent #winewords #wineterms #winelife #wineeducation #chaptalization #thefinestitalianwine #wineinfo #sugar #grapejuice #fermentation #alcohol https://www.instagram.com/p/BwH4lrkHNWR/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1flhlug904552

Has this ever happened to you? During a Zoom class with about 50 other wine people, mostly somms, where I shared some of my tasting notes in the chat section, I boldly wrote that I found “some kind of incense I can’t identify” in one of the wines we were studying. Well it got identified a minute or so later, by me, when I figured it out. I went back to chat, AND BLAMED IT ON THE PERSON IN MY HOME DOING YOGA AND BURNING INCENSE. I got one giggle emoji back, presumably the others had moved on and left me in the “she’s completely daft” category! . . . . #EveBushmanWhatsInYourGlass #EveBushmanWhatAromaIsThat #FlavorsAndAromas #Wine #WineLover #WineStudy #WineStudent #WineWriterLife #WineWriter https://www.instagram.com/p/CC_TIcTA250/?igshid=ii1m4gk9rpjr

Wine does makes me feel special! And you? Flashback to #winetasting during our #croatia vacay. Hey Bella... I’ve been a bit MIA lately. I started taking #wine classes again @napavalleycollege . It’s so much fun. Yesterday’s class was about #wine marketing , understanding why marketing is so important in any business, whether you are starting your own business or you already have one. I love ❤️ marketing. A few fun facts from class. 1️⃣ Did you know that 50 states make wine? I had no idea of this. 2️⃣ I also didn’t know that 90,000,000 Americans 🇺🇸 consume wine. ¿Que tal? 3️⃣ And guess what do Americans like in a wine? 56% of Americans like their wine to be smooth. 4️⃣ Guess which is the wine Americans say they are drinking most frequently? #chardonnay babyyy! I don’t think I fall in that metric, I’ve actually go more for a nice chilled Gewürztraminer Riesling, and just recently Pošip from lovely Croatia 🇭🇷 ... que te puedo decir. Cada paladar es único. #swipeleft to learn more about wine marketing and US wine consumption. Check out my IG stories on Monday and Thursday. Those are the two days I will be a #winestudent this fall. Endo wifey in the day at my hubby’s #endodontic practice in #napa @modernendonapa , nights and weekends working on my blog NapaVale.com and learning about wine. I know I keep my schedule pretty packed. I always have. You can always find me doing something new. Life is just way too short to live the same day twice. Así que. “¡Descubre, saborea y brinda!” 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 #napavale #napavalleyliving #napavalley #napavalleycollege #winelover #lovetolearn #napablogger #napavalleyblogger #visitnapavalley #winefacts (at Split, Croatia) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1aMYnmHasZ/?igshid=16rzlh9e6uopm

Sauvignon blanc Craggy Range Marlbourgh 2020 @waitroseandpartners Score 87 New Zealand's oldest working vineyard dates back to 1851 when French Catholic missionaries planted vines in hawkes bay. The first vines were planted in 1819. Brancott Estate started planting Sauvignon blanc in 1973, the country never looked back. All my life NZ has been known mainly for producing Sauvignon blanc but it wasn't until 2002 that it became NZ primary planted grape. It was Chardonnay until then, Martinborough in the North island makes world class Chardonnay to this day and Central Otago do the same with Pinot Noir but Sav is the big show in town. Two thirds of NZ wines are white and 58% of the country's wine is made Marlborough where Sav is king. Craggy Range does a beautiful crisp, clean and bright Sauvignon blanc. The perfect expression of what NZ Sav is all about. Beautiful Gooseberry, Citrus fruit, fresh cut grass and a little jalapeño spice. The structure of the wine is classic Sav, mouth watering acidity, light bodied and very refreshing. I really enjoyed this with some Lamb Tacos. Thank you to everyone that has been checking out my Weekly Wine Picks on @sommtv_streaming ! I try as best as I can be to the change I want to see. There is a LOT to learn, to know and to love about wine, but first and foremost, it’s meant to be shared and enjoyed in fellowship and community with others. It is a joy to have the opportunity and platform to work with so many other amazing wine professionals that are working hard to make wine more accessible, more diverse, more inclusive, more equitable, more approachable and more fun to others. Im committed to always bringing my authentic self to the party! I’m a little nerdy, a little goofy, sometimes clumsy (😂), but always on an endless search for for knowledge and thrilled to share great food and great wine wine with others! 🍇 I am driven by a few very simple principles : 🍾Representation 🍾Kindness 🍾Equity 🍾Agency 🍾COMMUNITY 🍾Empathy 🍾Integrity 🍾Opportunity 🍾Advocacy 🍾Joy 🍇 I look forward to sharing many more great wines, great food, great people and great stories (and laughs) with you all! 👗: @ovonion 🍷: @brownestate, @houseofbrown.wine 📸: me 😂😂😂 #aglassforeverypalate #wcw #blackwomeninwine #womeninwine #winemedia #dothework #bethechangeyouwanttosee #winelover #winewriter #winestudent #sparkjoy #blackwinelovers #sommtv #sommtvstreaming
