Gonna get the Stanica 90 AU refs going, but as a little appetizer, have complete profile for Ingo:
Ingo - Stanica90 (Station90)
Age: 34 years old at the start of 1990 (when the story begins)
Full name: Imrich Golonka (he'll be referred to as Ingo still, this is fir stuff like ID and stuff)
Occupation: Train conductor
Goals: 1. Get back to having a social life
2. Finish his degree (was kicked out of college for not having the "right" profile)
Other information: Currently single with a flat in Bratislava - Petržalka (Czechoslovakia until 1993, after - Slovakia) with the view of the border fence that's now getting destroyed. He used to go to this secret club, got him wondering if it's still around, it's been 10 years after all...
Bad habits include smoking and occasional drinking, but what Slovak ever abstains from any of that? Other bad habits include just about climbing into his own flat through the balcony and never telling anyone where he's headed, making his brother worry.
The story is to some extent still in development, but you ain't ready for one thing cooking in my head, that's for sure.
Also this story is gonna be very Slovak.

Accounting is the backbone of every business, no matter its size or industry. It involves recording financial transactions, preparing financial statements, and analyzing financial data to help business owners make informed decisions. OK, so one more quick AU idea, probably last before I make my full return to school after getting a cold for the 2nd time this month. This is the one that will require the most studying for me to not mess up big time since it would be taking place in 90s Slovakia.
Basic introduction:
Ingo (almost Ing. Imrich Golonka) and Emmet (Emil Golonka-Meňhért) (thank you Wikipedia for surname list) are twin conductors living in Bratislava - Petržalka during the wild 90s having had witnessed both The Velvet revolution and subsequent fall of the communist regime and The Velvet divorce of Czechoslovakia in 1993. Right after this Ingo made the decision to go back to school and get an engineering degree as neither of them could do it before, since they didn't come from the "right background" (aka. their family wasn't pro regime and they weren't either). However tensions in between all the mafia groups are rising and life is getting more hectic and less safe even for those uninvolved.
Now this definitely DOES require studying as to NOT draw too many parallels between the REAL life Slovak mafia groups active during these times and also just to properly illustrate how it was actually. Like depending on where you lived you definitely would have very different experiences, like someone going to party in the 90s Bratislava center was in much more danger than a grandma knitting a sweater in Očová. I would actually center the AU more around like how an average person would feel during that time, as well as just really keeping it small and more centred around personal journeys.
The reason why I even came up with this is my own fascination with 20th century history especially Slovakia and also our criminal history, HOWEVER, this isn't a place to bring it up in all of its complexity, the most would actually be like... TV or newspaper article being vague af, but you would get it if you know, and characters reporting the feeling of unease. There would be a bit of character trying to get the most out of not so pleasant circumstances (like 2 friends getting married on paper for cheap living despite never being in love and never falling in love) but also the feeling of this very sudden agoraphobia when all of the sudden there's no fence and barking dogs to hold you in your country at all times.
If I were to make it a comic series or a series of illustrated stories, I would go with a combination of art style you would see on propaganda posters, the avant-garde pushed by the censors onto people, just softened and a bit more stylised as censorship is officially over and and have more experimental sequences either looking like inked pages or just an explosion of colour with both a Slovak text and an English translation in one picture for both styles as if you were given subtitles.
For now the AU has no name, although stanica90AU may be a fun name.
