I think Haikyuu makes an effort to be a great example of all the different ways innate talent can manifest, and all the ways it can go unrecognized or under appreciated when we stick to the ridged rules of what it means to be “gifted”
Take Kageyama and Oikawa. Both insanely gifted and innately talented people. But Kageyama’s genius is obvious it’s grounded in an exceptional skill in physics and mathematics anybody with a basic interest in volleyball can tell his sets are basically perfect, he is lauded as a genius because he is one!
And then there’s Oikawa whose innate genius is a little harder to see especially if you’re not paying attention, because he does it so well that you don’t even think to notice it. it’s not very technical or flashy so it’s been overshadowed by the more trained flashier aspects of his playing. But Oikawa’s genius is that he knows people. He knows how to finely tune a set, adjusting the most minute details to fit the spiker like a glove and he does it all in a split second like he doesn’t even need to think about it he just knows. That is actually insane. Hell it’s even pointed out by Iwaizumi, nobody is better than Oikawa at knowing his players and knowing how to set to his players.
But the world they (and by extension we) live in, is so used to seeing genius in only a constrained specific light that Oikawa’s innate talent is woefully underrepresented so much so that it leads to him ( and by extension most of the fandom) believing that he has no innate talent, that he’s not a genius. Oikawa somehow believes that he is less that kageyama because kageyama was “born to do this” but if you think about it so was he!
Even despite his self aggrandizing and petty selfishness Oikawa innately, more than anyone else in the whole show, understands what we all tend to forget (across many sports), Volleyball is a team sport.
It doesn’t matter if you’re the single most best techical player out on the court; there are 7 other people out there as well and like it or not they’re playing too. Who then can say that knowing how to make 7 other people move as if extensions of your self with an ease taken for granted, isn’t a sign of genius?

Je suis en train de relire Le Comte de Monte Cristo parce que je l'avais lu au collège mais je me rappelle de rien à part que c'était trop bien, et apparemment j'avais oublié que Dumas n'aime pas la précision c'est ultra drôle

HELP! EXTREMELY IMPORTANT! PLEASE JUST 5 MINUTES ARE ENOUGH FOR THE BETTER OF MY COUNTRY! SIGN THIS PETITION AND SHARE IT WITH AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN!
Tumblr media
Like today, a year ago, in Tempi, nearby where I live, two trains crashed. They were moving in the same road, opposite to one another for 12 minutes and nobody knew about it, until the two trains crashed...
57 people died, most of them being students, around 18-25 years old.
They said it was the station master's fault, he didn't realise that he put the trains in the same rail. But they are hiding the truth...
Our trains were bought from Switzerland, and those trains were used by the Swiss for almost 2 months and they were about to be destroyed, because they were considered to be a danger for everyone.
Our trains, for almost 24 years are moving around the country manually. No train has a GPS system. The systems were bought by the Greek government in 1999 and till today, 2024 they have not been installed....
The railways do not have signal lights, radar, monitoring center and station masters....
We Greeks move like this, for about 20 years....
Until 28 of February 2023, that this terrible train crash happened....
Today, a year later, our politicians lie to us, make empty promises and reassure us that everything is under control. The truth is that nothing is under control. A year later they have done nothing...
The railways are still malfunctioning, no GPS, no monitoring centers and no lights....
And the only one who payed for it was the station master, who did a fatal mistake, but he was just the front person that behind him hid the politicians, that do not take any responsibilities...
The next day after the train crash, the minister of the Ministry of Transportations quit his place! Can you believe it?
The European Union has condemned Greece for ignoring the laws and pointed out the greed of our Prime Minister, which hasn't stated anything of that matter for over a year....
Greeks are devastated! No one hears us, the government is killing us!
Greeks want our politicians to take responsibility. It is in our hands to do it, but we also need help.
Please, spend 5 minutes signing this petition.
Signing this states that you want a constitutional change, which will lift over the political immunity that protect the politicians!
Your help is so much needed. The families of those people suffer and want justice for their children!
PLEASE! WE NEED YOUR HELP, WE CAN'T LIVE LIKE THIS!
Sign this petition please! You can chose to ignore the tiping fees. It is only fair that they pay for what they did!
Pray for those 57 lost souls!

Train operators in the UK are planning on closing physical ticket stations, in a move that will severely limit the ability of disabled, older and vulnerable people to travel. There are many people who just cannot access electronic tickets, or need help from ticket staff to find their way around. It will also result in massive layoffs.
The public consultation on this has been extended until 1st September 2023, and you can have your say here.
Please take 2 minutes to tell operators how much of an impact this would have on you, your loved ones and your local community while you can, because once these services are gone we will not be able to get them back.

I can't help but love the way tumblr loves. Like. Anon compliments and confessions. Liking sad posts. Entire conversations in the tags. Reblogging one post back and forth and back and forth. Gifting pictures of flowers and balloons and wishing for them to be well and happy. Posts about mutuals and followers and people you follow who never followed you back, all saying I love you. I love you. I love you. Even if you don't know who I am. Even if you know everything about me. Even if we're worlds apart. I love you

Lol today i learned (while doing German homework) that the whimsical Finnish word "tilpehööri" (= additional trinkets or random things that come along with something else) actually comes from the Swedish tillbehör which is equivalent to the extremely commonly used German Zubehör

if I’m honest, I have never seen so much blatant actual antisemitism in my life as I have in the past 2 weeks. overwhelmingly on the left, but on the right too. I didn’t know it was this bad.

I can't stop thinking about how Astrid says to Hiccup "Figure out which side you're on", and a short while later, after bonding with Toothless, he goes to the cove with the full intent of running away with Toothless. He chose his side and it wasn't Berk or his father, it was Toothless, a dragon that he was taught to fear his entire life. It's really sad to think about the fact that Hiccup had been treated so terribly his whole life that he was going to run away with a dragon that he had known for maybe a month. And it didn't even seem like Hiccup had any difficulty choosing Toothless over Berk/Stoick
