Re: that last ask well now I wanna hear about Peter!! (Please 🥺)
Ah yes, peter, sweet sweet boy.
peter is so special and sweet and I do have many thoughts about him.
peter loves cuddles. this is probably not surprising, but he indeed loves to snuggle up and nuzzle into someone’s neck and hold their hands. lucky for him he has this group of super touchy-feely guys to give him all the snuggles he wants. He just loves his friends so much.
Peter and mike end up getting really close. I think that after The Devil and Peter Tork, pete starts getting some really bad nightmares, about hell, but also ones that feature things like the other monkees forgetting about him or not knowing he’s there or even ones where they’re not real and this gets him real deep (poor thing). I feel like as a kid he had a hard time holding onto friends (this is a little bit personal, apologies), and was picked on a lot for being “different” and “soft” and it gets to him (like in the wild monkees when the girl calls him a sissy and he gets particularly upset) and the idea that this group of people who love him and care for him aren’t really real can be a lot.
He often starts screaming or crying in his sleep and Mike starts to wake up and go over to his bed to stay with him and calm him down. Davy also sometimes wakes up (micky is a VERY deep sleeper, but he has woken up before and come over to help but he konked out pretty quickly) Usually it’s just peter and Mike and Mike trying to calm peter down, just holding him close and rubbing his back and hair and letting peter know he’s there and that he’s real. Mike doesn’t feel really good at talking, especially not at two in the morning, so that is usually the most he can do, and it does help peter, who loves pressure and soft snuggles. Mike also sometimes sings to him, quietly as to not wake up the others, and they do talk a bit, mike trying to get peter to tell him what the dreams were about but they’re sometimes too confusing or too much for peter, and peter can’t always talk at all afterwards, so if mike talks to him it tends to be soothing things in a soft voice or asking peter if he wants to be sung to.
despite mike’s help, pete has a very hard time getting enough sleep and sleeping through the night so sometimes mike has him take a lot of shorter naps during the day (usually downstairs with the rest of the group) but peter has a hard time going to bed at night, afraid of what nightmares he’s going to have, so he starts having some terrible panic attacks about going to bed. Mike starts just sleeping in peter’s bed every night (eventually they all just sleep in the same bed because what the hell, they’re snuggly, but not at first). But peter has a lot of trouble with bedtime for a while, and micky one night comes up with an idea that this is NOT ‘bedtime’! No no no! this is PILLOW time, and pillow time is special and different! and tells him all these stories about it and it makes peter laugh and gets him to be able to go to sleep for a while, safe with Mike, though he still tends to wake up from nightmares.
this is another self-projection thing, but during this time when peter is having terrible nightmares he starts having problems with bedwetting. He can’t help it, but it freaks him out even more. It starts almost right away and Mike also starts helping him through it, late at night getting poor, crying peter into the bathroom and putting on a shower for him. Mike brings his guitar in and plays some things sitting against the bathroom door so that peter knows he’s there. then i guess they fall asleep in mike’s bed and mike deals with the sheets in the morning and they just don’t tell the other guys because peter’s embarrassed about it. peter does NOT get scolded about it at all, that’s a must for me, just because i’ve had problems with that due to nightmares and waking up to someone yelling at you for being disgusting is not a helpful thing. So peter is definitely assured he’s not disgusting and it’s not his fault and he is treated like a person about it. I also think mike knows how to deal with it, assumedly having taken care of younger siblings (see when he talks about his family in Monkee Mother) so he is prepared to help peter out and doesn’t really sweat it. Yeah, that’s just a personal segment of this all.
okay so to me tv show-peter is autistic. real life peter tork was diagnosed with autism later in his life, but peter the character shows a lot of autistic traits in my opinion so that’s gonna factor into a lot of these next ideas.
he probably needs help with a lot of things, stuff like cutting his nails or remembering to brush his teeth (micky also has trouble with both of those and mike has a system now where they all brush their teeth at the same time and is usually good at figuring out when he needs to throw a nail clipper at micky as he’s been scratched multiple times during werewolf impressions and similar) but peter gets the help he needs because the boys all help him out!
(another little self-projecting thing) peter has trouble not spilling glasses of water so he has to be reminded a lot to use two hands when holding a glass. (this will forever be my struggle lol)
he’s also prone to meltdowns if he gets overstimulated. (it’s the sixties so autism is not really understood so i think peter is definitely not diagnosed and he doesn’t really know what these meltdowns are) Sometimes grocery stores are a lot for him and the other boys have to frantically figure out how to calm him down. if it happens at the grocery store usually one of them will go with peter to go sit in the car (a lot of times it’s mike, because grocery stores are also very overstimulating for him. dont tell mike, but he’s also autistic haha. but sometimes it’s not mike because putting davy and micky alone to do the shopping together is not always the best idea). Micky is not always the best at calming peter down because he sometimes can make it more overstimulating, but he figured out a good way to calm peter and get his brain thinking about other things by pointing to something and saying “peter what color is that car/sign/whatever” or, if there’s nothing all that interesting around asking peter what different animals say.
peter also gets bedtime stories read to him a lot. either that or they sing to him. sometimes mike will have peter and davy snuggled up on either side of him while micky sits and the end of the bed and sings and they often all do harmonies together. sometimes mike’ll figure out a new song right before bed and they all work it out together, running to get a guitar while micky drums out a beat on the bedframe saying “we’re really gonna make it big with this one guys!” and it’s so exciting. wholesome little rock band activities.
(this is not a headcanon and this post is already so long so i’m leaving random stuff out for maybe another time but i just have to put it into the world because when the monkees are little little cuties i go absolutely insane. you know in monkee mother when micky starts spoonfeeding pudding or something to peter, is that not the cutest fucking thing in the world?!???! micky is so older brother) okay, now back to our regularly scheduled programming of *shuffles cards* the rest of the random peter headcanons!
peter’s nickname is ‘peterbabe’ (said as all one word) sometimes elongated to ‘peterbaby’ and micky jokes that they should change his full name to ‘peterbabe tork’ because they just say it so darn often.
this is pretty obvious but peter loves flowers! hes a flower boy! he even grows daffodils! :) He brings flowers into the pad (micky is allergic to a lot of them unfortunately so he’s prone to sneezing fits) and he likes putting flowers in everyone’s hair (micky’s hair is particularly fun to put flowers in so peter tries extra hard to find ones he won’t sneeze over) as well as his own hair and he puts them along the windowsills too, which has made for some good photography.
I guess since this is so long i’ll finish it off with a little thought since it’s indeed christmas: in the christmas episode they all rag on peter about getting “bad” gifts and to me the only gift that’s not really working is the coat for davy cause it’s just too big. It was mikes fault for opening snow skis in july, and the chemistry set is actually a very thoughtful gift for science-loving micky, micky just had to go and DRINK whatever concoction he had made which is basically lab safety no no #1 and that is not peter’s fault. the writers pulled those “bad” gifts out of their asses. anyway.
AH! and a bonus because i forgot to include it in the davy post here’s a davy headcanon I hold dear that was from the monkees headcanon instagram account but is so wholesome that i need to bring it to everyone’s attention: davy falls asleep on the couch and often needs to be carried to bed. thank you.
And yes, davy’s “diagnosis” in 33 1/3 being “regression” on top of him literally dancing around dressed as a toddler in a baby’s bedroom can 100% support my idea that davy is baby real.
AND WITH THAT, thank you so much for the ask! these asks give me an excuse to just dump out my thoughts and I hope other people enjoy them despite how long and disorganized they are. sorry about that lol.

can i be honest and just say that the snow white remake deciding to get rid of the romance is SO incredibly annoying to me because like... snow white's prince is what people like to claim the princesses are. he doesn't have a canon name, he doesn't show up anywhere except at the beginning and end of the story, literally all he does is sing to snow white and kiss her, he essentially has no personality and his one and only purpose is to be a love interest. rachel zegler claims that the original snow white has no function beyond "someday my prince will come", but really, she's an abuse victim who chooses to be kind, to have hope and to dream of love, and to take control of her own life by doing housework for the dwarves in exchange for being allowed to stay with them. the prince is the one who has no function beyond "one song", other than to rescue snow white and make her happy!!
but the thing is, he wasn't planned to be such a nothing character!! walt wanted to do more with him, if only they hadn't had so much trouble animating him at the time. and i was hoping so badly that the remake would flesh him out and give snow white a truly beautiful romance with her prince, like she deserves, because there is nothing wrong with an abused teenage girl, or any girl for that matter, wanting to find true love! but disney has decided that actually there is, i guess?! i was hoping maybe they could be childhood friends who met before snow white's parents died, because in the original movie it seems possible, to me at least, that they already knew each other and that's why he was so comfortable sneaking past the castle walls and joining in on her song, and why she was so immediately enchanted by him. that maybe the reason she was surprised at first and tried to run from him was because her abusive stepmother didn't want him around and might harm him. or if not that, maybe he wants to work out a trade deal between his kingdom and hers and he comes by and introduces himself like a normal person instead of sneaking in. but instead they're just getting rid of him entirely and at this point i'm surprised the cinderella remake gave kit and ella such a beautifully developed love story instead of just removing prince charming and making cinderella some kind of shallow girlboss.
and then also, they're not including the dwarves all because peter dinklage complained that it's stereotypical to have a story about dwarves living in a cave when, um, they literally fucking don't?!?! it's kind of a pretty significant plot point that the house snow white is staying in is their house and they just work as miners 😭 i'm so tired of celebrities who probably haven't watched a disney movie since they were in diapers thinking they need to say shit like this. AND this whole decision is not even working out for disney because now they're also getting slammed by actors with dwarfism who are understandably disappointed at losing the chance to audition for those roles. when they could've just idk, kept the dwarves and taken the opportunity to be inclusive and give work to a highly underrepresented demographic instead of removing them based on blatantly false information?? and if the dwarves working as miners is still considered stereotypical/harmful, then why not... give them a different job that isn't?
sorry it's just. ugh. disney would be nothing without snow white and every single time i see promotional stuff for the remake it's all just the cast and crew disrespecting snow white and trashing it and saying they're making it better by cutting out its most important elements. i have nothing to look forward to with this movie anymore (not that i was looking forward to it that much to begin with) because apparently the only thing it shares with the original is its title character, and i'm sure she'll also be nothing like her animated counterpart.
edit because i didn't really expect anyone to see this: idk if the whole "getting rid of the romance" thing is true because after writing this i remembered that i've also heard something about the prince getting replaced with a new "robin hood-esque" love interest named johnathan?? so if they're still keeping him then there will still be romance i guess, it just won't be the classic fairytale romance snow white is associated with, and my frustration toward them choosing not to develop the prince into an actual character still stands. ESPECIALLY SINCE i also read that snow is supposed to "ride into battle with him"?! snow white?! imagine if in cinderella (2015) they changed prince charming into a roguish robin hood type and had ella fight battles with him. it would've been so weird and so far removed from the animated cinderella in a very jarring way. i hate it. also, because of an annoying tag i got on this post i also feel the need to add that i do NOT have a problem with "political correctness" or rachel zegler being latina lmao. i do, however, have a problem with her insulting the original snow white while openly admitting that she has not watched the movie since she was a child.

Tell me good things about Harry so that I'll like him more.
I don't really like him for some reason, but to write good Norman & Harry one-shots/stories, I need to actually like Harry (and loving Norman but not liking his son is ridiculous). I thought you'd be a good person to ask since you're writing a fic about him and seem to like him a lot.
I mean you don't have to answer this if you don't want to, but I assume, like me, you'd love to rant about your favorite character.
Have a good day!
So I’m gonna warn you in advance, I have severe insomnia and I haven’t slept in more than a day so I’m not firing on all cylinders. This is also why this is taking so damn long to write. Also none of this is necessarily directed at you specifically if I mention something. It’s probably a general observation.
While I do think it’s valid to dislike him for a lot of reasons—I think it’s valid to dislike him on the grounds of what an absolute piece of work James Franco is alone—there are some things I will posit for my son boy. It’s worth noting that one, he is seventeen years old in the first movie, he is a baby, and he dies at either 20 or 21. Additionally, most of the more overt shitty things he does are things he’s shown to have developed as a direct result of Norman, namely his treatment of MJ being an explicit result of Norman being a misogynist. And on the topic of reasons I think he’s liked, I know for a lot of people his reaction to MJ commenting on Norman, while not pretty, is just so, so real to a lot of victims of similar abuse.
While at the end of the day I do sort of think that trying to quantify morality sort of misses the point of the Raimi trilogy’s core cast. Whether or not they’re good people is less important than the fact that they are human, with human flaws and human problems who are all for the most part trying to do their best, or in cases where they actually are acting maliciously like Eddie and, not to slander your blorbo, Norman, acting maliciously for very human reasons. I think Harry is a great example of this.
And I do think Harry is a better person than he’s generally given credit for. He maintains his 616 trait of not having it in him to kill, even having a line in the novels where MJ mentions he couldn’t kill a frog in science class. He keeps a lot of the 616 core of his character when it comes to fragility and gendered tropes, having a complex relationship between traditionally female and male tropes as used in those movies. He is subversive as a male character. But that’s getting off topic, even if I could go off about that for hours. He’s more respectful of MJ’s romantic decisions than most secondary male leads in fiction, maintaining a platonic relationship with her long after they’ve broken up. Norman is a weapons manufacturer, yet Harry’s job in OSCORP has him working on accessible green energy with Otto. He’s far more loyal to Peter than people want to give him credit for, resisting his hallucinations and the revenge he’s obsessed over for two years at that point for no other reason than the fact he loves Peter. And it’s important to me that you know the original ending of the third movie didn’t have him going to help Peter after being told how Norman died but instead after seeing a shattered photo of himself, Peter and MJ. That boy cares so damn much. While poorly executed, the amnesia arc in the third movie is very important in my opinion because of what it’s meant to demonstrate. Harry isn’t a malicious or malevolent person at his core, he’s just deeply traumatized and struggling.
And I know well that all that is buried six feet deep beneath his mountains of issues, but that’s half the reason I like him. I think it’s easy to admire Peter, and he’s well written and deserves it, but I don’t think it’s any coincidence that there’s such a decent amount of affection for Harry on tumblr specifically. He’s the character with the subversive gendered tropes, the canon schizophrenic, the one I think a lot of people connect with out of this feeling he was treated unfairly. And I think it’s reassuring to see something that reminds you that no matter how much has happened, no matter how many mistakes you’ve made, it isn’t too late. You can always choose to be better.
There’s also a fantastic video essay about Harry and the stages of identity development somewhere on YouTube that I think is absolutely fantastic because that also is a massive part of his character. Along with his genuine psychological issues, his development of identity has been stunted. He’s soft spoken and tries to make himself as unobtrusive as possible in the first movie, basically molding who he is to try and please the people around him. He swings in the opposite direction in the second movie, where he’s perfectly capable of interacting like a normal human person at Peter’s birthday party, he almost deliberately paints himself as obnoxious as possible around Otto. I’ve written full posts about that before, so I’ll keep it short as the idea that he twists who he is to make himself feel safe. And feeling safe isn’t necessarily what’s actually safe for him, but often just what’s he’s used to. There’s a sense of completion to him simply deciding to go and help Peter. He’s choosing who he wants to be for himself and nothing else, choosing whose love actually matters to him.
I’m happy to talk about the guy in messages or asks upon request. Also have like 293 posts this length or longer about the dude tagged under harryposting he is so important to me. I should probably make a specific analysis tag.

Question: So, if Miguel knows spider!reader in Arachnophilia, and spider!mig is mentioned in AFM, does reader know her own spider variant (personally or from Miguel/other spiders mentioning them) ??
I love both stories, and obvi the idea of Miguel & Reader being tied in several universes, but I was just curious on the idea of reader knowing.
oh im SO GLAD I get to talk about this THANK YOU SM cos its been on my mind for days!! I will use this chance to actually drop the dante fic cinematic universe timeline, which is: easing tensions - arachnophilia - a fortunate mistake - a fortunate mistake II There's certain things I gotta keep vague because I know how arachnophilia ends (and how it might tie into AFM II) and I don't want to spoil, but I'll talk about a bit because I'm rabid rn.
I wanna add for the sake of my lore on multiverse stuff, Miguel's who are turned into Spider-men are quite rare? I think this gets mentioned in AFM but Miguel's in general are rare, Spider Miguel's even more so. I took him saying Gabi's universe was the one where he was happy to heart, along with the fact we see zero variants of him in the society. That shit was always the most interesting thing to flesh out. I also don't know if I've ever talked about nena's multiverse story properly either, but its pretty tragic. She largely only exists in universes where Miguels' exist, and in all the ones where she comes into contact with him she dies. Our Miguel's universe is the only one where she doesn't, and Miguel blames this inititally on his canon but, as we know, canon isn't real, in reality it's because our Miguel was the only one with multi-verse experiences that humbled his apathy and violent tendencies. It's sort of like how meeting Miles put Peter B. on a better course, Peter's influence on Miguel is something no other Miguel had and it changed him in a way that made him capable of growing. Vig is the only other one we've met and it's obviously implied he was a poor partner who became a good dad after nena's death. Nena is like, universal collatoral damage, and it's only in the universe where she wasn't 'meant' to love him that she got to be loved. It's fucked up and she deserved better fr.
BUT I will say, to actually answer the question (sorry lol) the reader in arachnophilia is actually not a variant of the reader from AFM. I am sticking with the rule that AFM reader is never a spider, because its important later hehe.
BUT! But this makes Spider!Mig and readers relationship equally interesting to me anyway. I am a sucker for starcrossed lovers, excellent trope, and while it was meant to be a one-off I wanna use it to explore the idea of fully abandoning ones canon and exploring a relationship beyond the bounds of ones universe. I will be going more into Spider!Migs backstory for this, but I think the films never properly addressed the potential dangers/tragedy of love between people from different universes. I used it a bit with OG Miguel with my explanation for what happened with Gabi, E.g him trying to combine their universes, but this is especially spicy. So, again, actual question (I'm so sorry I swear this is all I think about, rip my PhD) as of AFM II reader also doesn't know about Miguel's variants beyond Vig, YET. Miguel is aware of Spider!Mig and reader as of AFM, and if you go back you can see a lot of his mindset in there, especially when he talks about not wanting kids because of his genetic mess and feeling like he's too dangerous.
Miguel as a character is great, I can't say that enough, he's harboring so much self loathing and unaddressed trauma that while he wants to do the right thing he imposes very strict rules that always end in hypocricy. In the same way I think he's awful to Miles because he see's Miles making the same mistake he did (e.g destroying the universe for a loved one) and a lot of his violence is like, imposed, he's awful to his variants because he knows he's fucked up his own moral compass and takes it out on them.
But yes Miguel knows where they are, he has not told reader though, but I do want to have them cross paths.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Review
‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️SPOILERS BELOW ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
This is not a simple review. It will contain specifics and loud opinions.
———-
I just need to start this off by saying that I fucking love Hobie. He is definitely one of the best parts of the movie. I am so happy that the rumor I heard about Hobie liking Gwen and creating a “love triangle” was not true. I very much dislike “love triangles.” I was screaming the entire time Hobie was on screen. He’s an anarchy genius.
Pavitr is the sweetest lil bean. It was such a relief seeing a happy Spider-Man. I really loved seeing Indian culture represented in a simple everyday way.
The Morales family is amazing and I only want the best for them. Mr. and Mrs. Morales are trying hard to be good parents and it shows.
Peter B. Parker what the hell are you thinking bringing a child into a violent fight?? I can sort of forgive the first one but then lying to MJ about it. You were literally carrying MayDay in a bjorn on a bullet train going skyward. I understand that you want Miles to see MayDay and see the good he brought you but a violent environment is not the time or place.
Speaking of bad parenting, Gwen’s father is an immature ass. When Gwen said, “You’re a good cop, Dad.” I wanted her to follow it up with, “but not a good father.” Why can’t superheroes condemn their parents?
Superhero movies don’t allow characters to hold their parents accountable because they’re objectively made for children to enjoy and children aren’t meant to question or judge their parents. When a parent missteps the child is required to meet the parent where they stand by accepting that everything was done out of love. How the child feels and how the slight effected them isn’t discussed. Marvel did this with Howard and Tony as well as Odin, Loki, and Thor. It’s insane that Sony and Marvel deny children seeing their heroes protect themselves and set boundaries with the people who are supposed to care for them above all others.
Miles is truly a King. He’s better than all those other spider-people and right now I don’t think they deserve the good he’s gonna bring them.
I’m not the biggest fan of Gwen’s actions or the romance between her and Miles. I would have preferred to see Tiana Toomes with Miles but Miles does go the furthest with Gwen out of all his girlfriends, opinions can be made as to why that is, so Gwen and Miles makes sense. I feel that their relationship is still in the crush stages and after her betrayal it could be the end of it. Maybe we could see Tiana, Kate, or someone else in the future.
I’m sure Miles is going to forgive Peter and Gwen but I at least want him to make them sweat more or for them to admit in full why they betrayed him. In order for Sony and Marvel to stop showing their audiences that unconditional forgiveness is required characters need to communicate and reach an understanding that isn’t one person deciding to be the bigger person, especially the child.
It’s fascinating to me that spider-people are so willing to rationalize their losses that they will all follow Miguel when he is clearly wrong.
Miguel that world fell apart because you were in it not because a canon event didn’t happen. Canon events, termed by Miguel, are just common themes that have/will lead to similar events because of course they will. Someone not dying in one instance is not the same as someone making roots in a universe that is not their own. The universe is resilient and it will correct itself. If a person’s death is more important than their survival then don’t worry the universe will make sure that they die.
Unlike the spider-heroes who are rationalizing their loss via acceptance, Spot is resorting to anger. He’s just focusing on the brightest string, like the Maximoffs did with Tony.
I found Miguel’s theory of Miles being an anomaly to be interesting. As I previously stated the universe will only go along with things it agrees with, Miguel learned this lesson pretty traumatically, so I believe that 1610 Peter was going to die that night. And if spider-42 hadn’t been brought to universe-1610 then there wouldn’t be a Spider-Man in 1610. So I think that the universe agreed that 1610 Miles is meant to be Spider-Man. I mean as we have seen multiple times in Across alone, Miles is a good force in every universe. I’m wondering if in 42 Prowler Miles is considered an anti-hero instead of a villain. I mean it’s more likely that they will go with the storyline of Miles meeting the evil him to strengthen his own morals, reminiscent of Billy. But I think I’d prefer the first storyline. It fits the narrative of “fuck canon/the box you want me in.” Also does Miguel just not care about universes without Spider-Man because he could have figured out a way to save 42 if he wanted? I’m so excited to see what happens with 42 Prowler and the final fight.
Absolutely loved all the cameos. All the spiders were perfectly done. Someone correct me if I’m wrong (pls pls send me screen grabs) but I didn’t see 199999 Peter in the holograms. Miguel mentions him in a derogatory way but that’s it. I might be reaching since 199999 Peter is my favorite but I think this is because Miguel groups Miles and Peter together. Miguel is okay with not saving everyone which is something Miles and 199999 Peter refuse to do. 199999 Peter’s main motto is “If you have the power to stop the bad things from happening and they happen anyway then they happened because of you.” Honestly, Peter holds himself to this way to tightly but Miguel does the exact opposite. He doesn’t even try to help people and then absolves himself from guilt. Peter literally almost destroyed the multiverse trying to help people and then lost everything fixing it, again Miguel did the opposite.
My final thoughts about Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse are fuck Miguel, I’m disappointed that so many spider-heroes would want to rationalize their trauma so bad that they would intentionally hurt one of their own, and of course the animation is breathtaking. Can’t wait for Beyond the Spider-Verse!
ps. I saw a tweet where someone said they want RiRi to get the Miles treatment and I totally agree. I would die to see RiRi Williams in 2D animation! She’s phenomenal with a great story, plus we’d get a young Tony Stark in 2D. RDJ would voice him no question. We’d be winning winning.

Peter Ellison
So, finally, here is my Little Pete analysis. This one was particularly hard to write because his characterisation (or should I say lack of) really really upsets me. This is now a Peter Ellison fan account because he just deserves all the love I can give him forever. That being said, I want to give a few disclaimers before I actually get into this analysis.
Firstly, I wanted to keep this analysis solely focused on Little Pete, with as little focus on other characters as possible. I’m going to be talking about the poor care that Little Pete received in this book (alongside the r-slur scene) and how this will have affected him. But, I am in no way blaming Astrid for this. Astrid was a child who loved Little Pete and who was doing her absolute best to take care of him. However, her effort does not negate the fact that Little Pete’s care was less than ideal and that this would have affected him severely. Because of this, it may seem like I’m blaming Astrid or making her out to be a bad person, but I promise I’m not. I just don’t want to be defending her every other line when I should be focusing on Little Pete. I will however be going into more detail on her side of things in a later post about their relationship.
Secondly, this analysis will not be as in-depth as my previous ones. There are two reasons for this. One being that I simply do not have the time and two being that I am not entirely sure that it is my place to do such an analysis on this character. I know that a lot of people have issues with MG’s portrayal of Little Pete and I do not want to take away from people’s concerns. That being said, I do not think that it was his intention to be ableist or to hurt anyone when he was writing this character. But intent doesn’t cancel out what he actually wrote.
Now, onto the analysis.
Old Opinion: Honestly, I didn’t really have an opinion on Little Pete. He seemed more like a plot point to me than a character and so that’s really just how I viewed him.
New Opinion: After re-reading the first book, I unfortunately still cannot seem to care for Little Pete. I wish MG had gone into more depth and written him as an actual character. There is just so much wasted potential.
How Little Pete is Viewed by Other Characters in The Text and in The Text Itself
This is a title that I haven’t done before in any of my analyses, but I thought it was important to do this for Little Pete as a lot of the issues that people have with his character stem from how he is treated by others, and how their actions seemed to be excused by the text. This will be a much shorter analysis than any other that I have done. One because there is not as much to analyse, and two because I feel like it is not my place to do a deep dive on a character who’s experiences I do not understand.
Something that I did notice quite a lot during my re-read of Gone (and my re-read of my re-read) is that MG seems to have done a pretty good job at researching the technical aspects of autism (trigger phrases, types of therapy, possible modifications needed), but he seems to neglect the actual thoughts, feelings, and emotions of autistic people. It almost seems as if Little Pete is a walking NHS page, instead of, you know, a person. But let’s first talk about the technical aspects.
The first introduction that we get to Little Pete, is through his environment rather than through any mention or meeting of the character himself. This occurs on page 17: “But everything was put away. There was nothing out that could be broken. The tables had little plastic cushions on the corners. The electrical sockets had childproof covers. In the kitchen the knives were in a glass-front cupboard with a childproof lock on the handle. There were child proof knobs on the stove.” Now while we don’t get confirmation until a few sentences later, we can already assume that these precautions have not been made for Astrid. However, my first assumption would not be that they are for a quiet, often unresponsive child – which is who Little Pete seems to be. Rather, I would assume the opposite – that this was for an unruly and destructive child, one who likes to grab and touch and move things. Little Pete is shown to do none of those things, in fact the only time that he is seen to be destructive when using his powers, and even then, he is only destructive in very stressful situations. So, to me, it seems odd that these measures are taken for Little Pete. They don’t seem to fit with his personality at all, making it seem like this choice was made based off of stereotypes, rather than made with the character of Little Pete in mind.
This does not necessarily mean, however, that the fault is with the writing. In fact, I quite like the idea that the reason the Ellison’s are making precautions that do not seem to align with Little Pete’s needs is because they themselves are ignorant to his needs. While the plot does not allow us to see Pete’s parents interact with Little Pete, we are given the impressions that they treat him as a nuisance more than anything else and this, paired with the time within which the book is set, makes it easy for me to believe that they have little interest in their son. This impression is also given when Astrid first makes reference to Little Pete’s powers, “He seems able to do a lot of things. Mostly we’re good, the two of us. Mostly he doesn’t really notice me. But once, I was doing his therapy, working with this picture book we work on sometimes. I show him a picture and try to get him to say the word and, I don’t know, I guess I was in a bad mood that day. I guess I was too rough taking his hand and putting his finger on the picture like you’re supposed to do. He got mad. And then, I wasn’t there anymore. Once second, I was in his room, and then all of a sudden, I was in my room.” (Page 133)
Why is Astrid doing these activities and not his parents? It seems like the parentification of Astrid began long before the FAYZ, and Little Pete’s neglect seems to be a huge part of his character. This, coupled with the fact that he himself is unable to communicate with the characters in any way that they understand, means that we unfortunately do not get as much of an in- depth characterisation as we do with others. This, of course, is something that Michael Grant had been criticised for many times. However, while it is not my place to tell people that they cannot be upset by this representation (because of course you can) I feel like I am able to bring about another perspective: that the reason Little Pete is written in this way is because this is how other characters see him. Seen as we can only see this world through their eyes, it makes sense that the impression we get of Little Pete is not one that is ideal.
Little Pete and His Importance to the Plot:
Now, to say that Little Pete is a character who is neglected so much, he is one of the main plot points within the novel. In fact, I would argue that especially in the first book, he is more plot point than actual character and here is why:
One – Little Pete is the driving force behind Sam and Astrid’s relationship, Edilio’s joining of the group and Sam and Quinn’s falling out.
Two – Little Pete is the reason that Sam won.
Three – Little Pete is the reason for the FAYZ in the first place.
If you ask me, those are three pretty major plot points that all come to be because of one character, especially a character who does not get a pov (only talking about the first book here). I’m not going into how all of these things happened due to Little Pete because that would be less and analysis of the text and more me explaining the book to you, which I am sure nobody wants. But my main point by including this section is that Little Pete is an intrinsic part of the text and so is the way he is written. If Little Pete is able to freely communicate with a people in a way that they understand then the book would have ended very differently, or maybe it would not have even started at all.
Essentially what MG has done here has used Little Pete as a structural device, giving his character the means to completely change the outcome of the story without giving him almost any say in what he does. While I understand how this can be upsetting to some people, I also think that this use of character is fascinating and adds an element of mystery to the story the likes of which I haven’t really seen before. Little Pete both controls the story and is barely present in it, and while I definitely whish that we could have learnt more about him as a person, I understand that with the way this story is written, that would have resulted in changes within the book that would have changed the story completely.
As always thank you for reading the ramblings that I have offered up to you. I am sorry that this analysis is so short, but I felt like I just needed to say what I wanted to say and not embellish. As I said before, I feel like it is not quite my place to give my full thoughts on this character, but I hope that what I have given has been enjoyable in it’s own way.

It's interesting that it seems more proper to name P/0 child after Elizabeth than after Olivia's mother.(Elizabeth is a beautifully tragic name in the show and your fic, though.) Peter and Olivia's relationships with their own mothers are both complex but totally different. How do you understand their mother issues?
Thank you for your lovely question. I have so many feelings regarding Peter & Olivia and their relationships with their mothers. That’s a topic I’ve explored a few times in stories through the years; as someone who’s had a rather rocky relationship with my mother (to put it mildly), I know my perspective on this to be very biased, but to me, that’s the beauty of an emotionally intelligent show like Fringe. They show us just enough to get a feel of how various character dynamics are/were, all the while letting us imagine the rest.
I think it’s harder to know how Olivia’s relationship with her mother might have been, because we saw a lot less of Marylin that we did Elizabeth, and the Marylin we did see was exclusively Altlivia’s mom, who from what we know had quite a different life from Olivia’s mother. I know in this case, I’m definitely projecting my own experience. My mom also got into a relationship with someone abusive who made our lives hell for a few years, and the fallouts are extensive, long after that person is gone.
That’s why I always pictured Olivia’s childhood and relationship with her mother to be quite sad, unfortunately, since her father probably died when she was very young, then there was the abusive step dad, who she ended up shooting, only for him to traumatize her even further by sending her all those birthday cards, and then her mother dies when she was just fourteen—and I doubt those five years between the shooting and her death were happy years. But Olivia would have loved her mother no matter what, as shown on the show when she got to meet her mom’s alternate in the other universe, and the emotion of it literally broke her mind and got the other memories working.
Tumblr media
Olivia felt strongly enough that it was her JOB to defend her mother to shoot a grown man with a gun when she was nine. That tells you so much about Olivia’s core personality (and trauma, did I mention trauma?)
Like I said, that topic is very personal to me and I have a hard time ever being objective about it, but it’s also important because of how I imagine Olivia as a mother with Etta. And that’s why I’ve always been so pained by people who misunderstand the things Olivia says about it in season 5, about her feeling like she was too ‘at odd’ and basically too messed up to deserve her little girl, and that her worrying so much instead of just appreciating having her led to them losing Etta, like a punishment.
Tumblr media
I’m writing this right now and I don’t understand how people can misinterpret it enough to say things like “Olivia probably was cold and distant with Etta.” Like, over my DEAD BODY. She’s a traumatized human who lost her mother when she was still just a kid herself. That doesn’t mean she’s not capable of love or of being nurturing, it mostly means she probably worried herself sick over every thing and convinced herself that she was doomed to be terrible at it.
Ugh. I’m gonna need a drink before I can continue this.
Tumblr media
ANYWAY. Peter and Elizabeth hahahaha
I think his relationship with his mom was pretty tragic and heartbreaking, too. I think that he would have loved his mother very, very much, just like Olivia loved hers, but I also think the Elizabeth he grew up with never recovered from losing her son and having to brainwash this version of Peter into thinking he was her child. We know she ended up committing suicide when he was nineteen, and from what we saw in 3x15 ‘Subject 13’, she struggled a lot with the whole fucking mess that was their life—and that was before Walter lost pieces of his brain and went insane. Now whether Elizabeth was struggling with alcoholism is up to interpretation. My reasoning has always been that the show wouldn’t have shown us Elizabeth drinking in that episode if it wasn’t meant to imply she ended up doing that a lot, so that tends to be my headcanon. Even without the possible alcoholism, I think we’re supposed to deduce from everything Peter says that she suffered from depression.
Tumblr media
Either way, that poor man has had a SHIT childhood and adolescence. It sucks to grow up with a parent who suffers like this, it makes you feel responsible for them while also feeling absolutely helpless because you can’t really help, and also very angry because all of it is shit, honestly. In the context of the show, I can only imagine how torn and guilty Peter felt about his mother’s suicide, which happened after he left her. And that had to become that much worse after he learned the truth about his origins and realized he was basically ‘responsible’ for his mother’s ongoing misery.
Tumblr media
Soooooo yeah. One of the things I love about Peter and Olivia is that I think they get that about each other, implicitly. Shit childhood/adolescence just shape you differently, and you can definitely tell when you meet other people who’ve had ‘similar’ experiences (can I say trauma again?) It definitely make them particularly suited for each other, as life partners and as parents.

how would you rate the lotr + hobbit movies, from 1 to 5 stars?
TIME TO REWRITE THESE RATINGS AS I REWATCH (in January 2024) THESE BECAUSE LAST YEAR MY ANSWERS SUCKED.
Lord of the Rings:
The Fellowship of the Ring - 4 stars. I think this movie has a marvelous introduction to Middle Earth and its lore without ever resulting tedious, I absolutely adore the way they worked around Arwen characters to make her more involved in the plot and more interesting overall. While I don't agree with all narrative choices and tiny lore imperfections bother more than they should (WHY DOES GIMLI CALL MORIA "MORIA" FOR ONCE IT'S AN ELVISH NAME) this movie is insane. Boromir's death makes me cry ugly to this day. Only real flaw it has is that because the FotR book is really slow and at times a little boring, the movie feels also slow at times.
The Two Towers - 4,5 stars. THE BATTLE OF HELM'S DEEP. THE ATTACK ON ISENGARD. This movie is packed with good interactions faithful to the text, wonderful action scenes, and most important of all, Eowyn is there. It's probably the closest all the movies get to the books. I love the portrayal of the Rohirrim. Not a full 5 stars again for the Gimli slander, I really can't stand the fact that this is the movie where he decided to make him a fully comic relief character. Also I love Legolas surfing a shield while he shoots enemies, 10/10.
The Return of the King - 4 stars. This movie is wonderful, makes me cry every time I rewatch it but by god the ENDING NEVER COMES. My girlfriend and I rewatched the whole extended trilogy a couple years ago and we both nodded off for a good half an hour during the very last bit of the movie, and when we woke back up, Aragorn was yet to be crowned. Not a full five stars because they cut out the scene where Eomer finds Eowyn on the battlefield and thinks her dead from the released version, despite it being the best, most heartwrenching scene in the movies. I do love the "what about side by side with a friend" scene but it doesn't fix the fact that Peter Jackson pretty much saw Legolas and Gimli's relationship in the books, spit on it and replaced it with Legolas and Aragorn instead. Personal gripes aside, this movie deserves all the recognition it got.
The Hobbit (sigh):
An Unexpected Journey - 2,5 stars. This is probably the best one of the trilogy, because it's the only one that mostly follows the book and has fun, light scenes, where the rest of the movies tend to get overserious for no reason. They butchered the HELL out of Dwarven lore and managed to avoid having to characterize any dwarf that wasn't Thorin despite having 12 others to work with, many of which are RELATED to Thorin. I hate Martin Freeman's ugly dog face so much still, but I can admit sometimes his Bilbo works, I just have a personal bias against it. I love Richard Armitage as Thorin and to me he's the shining jewel of the trilogy, BUT I hate his shorn beard and how young he looks. Thorin is OLD, he's an old king without a kingdom, he's bitter and he's proud, the characterization is decent enough but it really feels like they made him ""hot"" and closer looking to a human just because he's a character of relevance - same thing with Kili, by the way. Also I hate a movie about dwarves that treats the lot of them like comic reliefs.
The Desolation of Smaug - 1,5 stars. This movie is BORING. I literally can't stand to watch it fully because my eyes start watering from boredom. So many useless introductions to characters that don't matter at all, especially the Elves outside of Thranduil. If I love what FotR did with Arwen, I absolutely despise that they only female character they add to the movie is not only boring and uninteresting, she's also just some guy's love interest - AND TO MAKE A ELF/DWARF ROMANCE BORING TO ME IT REALLY MEANS YOU BOTCHED THE HELL OUT OF IT. The only scenes that I like in the movies are the ones with Smaug. Bilbo talking to him? Good stuff. The whole chase scene is insanely stupid but it's kinda genius? absolutely. Calling a dragon stupid and fat and splashing it with molten gold truly does solve problems. The rating could have been higher if I didn't hate the whole deal with Tauriel and Legolas so fucking much. Why is Legolas in this movie dear fucking god I love him but I genuinely think he makes it worse just in virtue of being there. Also THRAIN DOESN'T MENTION HIS DAUGHTER DIS IN HIS LAST WORDS FUCK THIS THIS MOVIE IS STUPID.
The Battle of the Five Armies - 2 stars. This movie sucks BUT I don't completely hate the portrayal of Dwarves in this one and Dàin Ironfoot's presence makes the whole movie shine. Last time I said this was my favourite and I was wrong, I just like Thorin, the movie is so stupid it's insane, it went so far away from The Hobbit but it doesn't stand well enough on its own. The whole deal with the Necromancer works so poorly compared to the insane zigzag of alternating POVs in The Two Towers, it feels shoehorned in there and it doesn't fit, it detracts from y know the BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES. I love Thorin's death scene so much but all the other ones felt so cheap in comparison. Also gonna be controversial but the gaybaiting was tasty, and imo no one would have liked the movies weren't it for the decision to give Bilbo and Thorin a could have been something relationship. It really feels like they added it to make tumblr give it some shipping attention. The scene of Thranduil telling Legolas to "go north and find the Dúnedain" is so funny GO NORTH WHERE. NORTH OF EREBOR? TO FIND ARAGORN WHO AT THE TIME WAS A FUCKING CHILD AND LIVING IN FUCKING RIVENDELL? FUCK YOU AND YOUR LEGOLAS/ARAGORN AGENDA PETER JACKSON.
I can't believe what I said last year I need to stop writing stuff when my "fandom brain" is online

The other kids, and especially Max, are unconvinced that Forge deserves to die. Illyana ports off to Scotland, hoping her beloved Kitty will agree with her, but she doesn't, leaving Illyana more hurt and angry than before. But when she returns to the mansion, the other kids jump on her before she can port again, and they all find themselves in Limbo. It's worse than ever before, reflecting Illyana's hatred and rage. The team decides to go with Illyana to protect her; none of them are convinced she's right, but the most important thing to all of them is staying together right now. Illyana takes the soulsword from its place in Limbo and ports the team to Forge. In the absence of both Illyana and the sword, S'ym plots some evil plans, while on Earth, Destiny has foreseen this attack and has brought Freedom Force to protect Forge. There's a big fight that lasts most of the issue. It's not bad action, and I suppose the book needed it after a few months of sad conversations, but it's not terribly interesting to me. There are some good moments, like when Rahne leaps into danger to protect Illyana and when Sam knocks Illyana down to stop her from getting to Forge. Eventually, Dani projects Destiny's greatest fear- an invasion of demons that she says will stem from Illyana's actions this issue, unless the other New Mutants heed her warnings. Illyana isn't fazed, motivated by nothing but hatred, and she grabs Forge and prepares to strike him down.
I don't think I've mentioned Bret Blevins, the penciller who's been working with Simonson. He's not my favorite or least favorite, although he does draw a truly terrifying angry Illyana. I mention him because the layouts are different this issue, big and blocky instead of the organic panels he usually uses. I don't know why. It doesn't look bad, just a little jarring, like suddenly I'm reading something from the 2000s. Anyway, the New Mutants try to stop the battle between the two sorcerers unsuccessfully. Forge has the upper hand on Earth, so Illyana drags them all to Limbo, where she reigns supreme. The land comes alive and traps the New Mutants while Illyana and Forge battle. Forge tells Illyana she's what he was like at her age; how through magic, they should both have had foresight, but got drunk on their own power. Forge summoned the Adversary in the first place, and Illyana took Peter to Dallas. Forge is tired of other people suffering for mistakes he didn't think through, so he lets Illyana stab him, disrupting his magic. But before she can kill him, Dani shows her her own fear- herself as a full demon. It shakes Illyana out of her rage, and despite the demons of Limbo encouraging her to finish her enemy, she instead saves her friends from the vines that are suffocating them. Rahne begs her not to lose her own soul, and Illyana throws Forge back to Dallas and takes her friends home. She tells them she's too dangerous to stay on Earth, but can't go back to Limbo full time. Cut to space for a teaser; an spider alien named...Spyder...is telling her minion Gosamyr that she's gonna go kidnap and enslave Lila Cheney.
After a few issues for character stuff, this was a solid two parter that continued those themes while having the action a superhero book is technically supposed to have, pushing the plot forward and setting up Inferno. I have mixed feelings about Forge, because I know he didn't want any of this but it is pretty much all his fault. Rahne's love for Illyana, born out of the fear she used to have of her, is very sweet and will be crucial in saving the world soon. I'm glad Inferno is being set up slowly, but honestly this story had a little to much Illyana focus for me. In X-Factor, the big Right and Apocalypse stories were centered on Warren, but the ensemble felt very balanced. Maybe it's because the cast was smaller in that book, but Illyana always feels like she's hogging the page rather than sharing it while moving the plot. Oh well. It's good stuff, and I do love Illyana, so I'm not too upset about it.

All The Young Dudes-Review Part 2
I finished the fic the last. I will be honest ,I read it for two main reasons:
I really wanted to know why people like this fic so much and the impact it has had on the fandom
I wanted to understand why I dislike it so much
The second one was my motivation to read (listen to) the first 100 chapters or so,after that, the first reason was why I finished it,otherwise I would not have done it.
I obsessed with knowing why I was dissatisfied with the fic,in addition with the reasons I already explained in the first review. There was something that I couldn't put my finger on that annoyed me,until it finally clicked, this fic tells and do not show.
I have several examples of this but the most simple one is the map. At first Remus creates this normal map to not get lost, right? After that the other three found out and got the idea of The Marauders Map,at that moment I was excited to see how they create it. Well,we did not get that. The next time they talk about the map,it is already done, all of it! How? When? Who the fuck knows! You just have to accept it. It was reaaaaly infuriating!
Another example is the Marauders themselves, and here I also want to talk about the obvious bias against some characters that the author clearly has.
The Marauders were supposed to have this super close, wholesome friendship, but here Remus just repeats over and over again how much they mean to him but we almost never see him interacting with them happily because he is mopping, fighting, screaming or angry about something they say/do/have and that he doesn't ,it could be money/family/status/legacy. Is annoying to read to be honest.
James' whole personality (at least from Remus pov) is that he likes quidditch and Lily and after that is he likes Lily and quidditch and that's it,nothing more. How am I supposed to believe that he is important to Remus if James has been a two-dimensional character for the past 10 years?
The worst case is Peter. Gosh, his character situation is kinda hilarious. Since Remus first interaction with Pete,Remus only thinks of him as an idiot and annoying, and treats him the same way,if they interact of course, because Peter is there but Remus makes zero efforts to befriend him. Big narrative mistake. Worst is that after the graduation I can count on my fingers the times Peter is mentioned or interacted with, and I am pretty sure that I will not be using all of them,no joking.
The problem comes in the "betray", because upon hearing of the deaths of his friends, Remus literally says "oh brave, brave Peter",no gonna lie ,I literally laughed out loud,it was hilarious. Now it turns out that Remus loved him and thought of him as smart, brave and a nice, brilliant person . Like , you have to be fucking kidding me.
Also, the whole betrayal plot was really stupid,or at least makes every character look that way. The Order are like "oh there is an spy,and we narrowed it down to James or his friends. The options are:
James and Sirius who are most of the time together doing missions
Remus who is at his house all day or doing missions
Peter, who constantly disappears, makes excuses about it and does not interac with his friends that much anymore
Blimey,who could it be?"
Honestly you all deserved to die for being so dumb.
Another examples of bias against a character is Regulus. Like, most of his screen time (which is limited) he is an asshole, but what pissed me off was not that,it was his death. In the newspaper was the news of his death and it was mentioned that Regulus was really smart and a promising quidditch player (stuffs that are facts) and then Remus thought those were lies and Regulus was just average, but he supposed they have to make him see better than he was because of his family. I was like "wtf, why would you say that?" Remus is just an asshole for no reason.
The other example is Albus. He is cruel just because, and Remus despites him. If you read the books you know this is waaaaay too wrong. Like,if Albus is as evil as this fic says, why would he reach out to Remus family, helping them get Remus to Hogwarts, changing stuff at school and taking all means necessary for him to finish his studies?
But this answered some stuff that have been bugging me ever since I interacted with the fandom. Now I know where the romanticization of smoking or the idea that Albus is this evil old man come from.
Lastly, the relation with Sirius reminds me to a Wattpad fic. The fight and they fuck, they fight and they fuck, and after that they fight and they fuck. Everytime Remus thinks of what he likes about Sirius, he thinks about his face, how hot he is or something similar. It is never about his personality ,or hobbies,or ambitions,or something that is not his appearance. I do not even know if Remus know that information about Sirius. Everything is toxic af,and again,it makes no sense why Sirius thinks Remus is the spy if Remus is all the time in their house.
In conclusion,I think the fic became so popular because at the time there was not other long fics so people loved it,but being long doesn't mean that is a masterpiece. Is just ok ,to me. The characterization being the worst part of it,like a 1/10 and it had some plot wholes like Remus drinking butter bear for the first time twice,or funny stuff like when Albus told them Dorcas was death and everyone was like "oh ,no...anyway...", and stuff like that. I am also very disappointed of the lack of the Triwizard Tournament. I was waiting, and waiting, and waiting for it and when I realized they were graduating. At least now I know what you all are talking about when you mention the fic.

The Infantilization of Sirius Black is Rooted in Homophobia and Fetishization
(This is mildly aggressive and pointed towards people who are asshats about this ship not people who agree with me luv ya <3)
It’s very simple, really.
Straight people (and some queer people, we’re flawed, too) look at Sirius Black and see a gay man with long hair. What’s the stereotype of a short, skinny lil gay boi? Twink. Then, they look at Remus, a tall, skinny, academic type (primarily because of how he dresses), and assume he must be the smart one, he must be the levelheaded one.
In reality, Sirius has severe trauma. He’s the levelheaded one because what else could he be? He had no other option. He also has no clue how to talk about his feelings.
In reality, Remus is quite literally a werewolf. He has a massive amount of trouble controlling his emotions. There are too many hormones raging through his body at any given moment for him to know how to function properly.
Y’all wanna talk “twink!Sirius”? This man had a motorcycle, and not only that, a completely unique and personalized , specifically engineered to fit his needs. We learned with the Weasleys that it’s not as simple as putting a flight charm on something, and it was a flying motorcycle. He built it to suit him. He wore leather and combat boots and smoked constantly and swore like a sailor. He was covered in tattoos. He’s the perfect dark romance man that we’re all so hung up on. Yes, he had a fruity lil jacket in OOTP, we get it. But that one jacket is not his entire personality.
You wanna talk about “academic!Remus”? He broke every rule. This dude told his friends about him being a werewolf, knowing it could very well lead to his or their deaths. He brought a boggart to a school. His remedy for everything was chocolate. He wore sweaters because they were comfy and because he was always in pain, not because he was studious. He was the brains behind every great Marauders’ prank. He didn’t play sports, he just got in trouble all the time. He wasn’t “meant to be a Ravenclaw,” he was meant to be Gryffindor because he was strong, and brave, and sarcastic. He’s pretty much just a brunet Weasley twin.
The root of this is in stereotypes; “oh, he’s short, that makes him the chaotic uwu twink 🥰”. “Oh, he’s taller than his boyfriend, he’s the smart one who controls his bf 🥹”. It’s a crock of shit and you know it.
“Oh, but in Prisoner of Azkaban-“ Yes, Prisoner of Azkaban was different. They both wanted Peter dead. But Remus had spent years trying to figure out if Sirius was innocent. Sirius had spent years being tortured. Their experiences those 12 years were very, very different. Remus had thought this all through before hand, and still managed to forget the most important thing- a binding spell. Sirius, on the other hand, was on the verge of madness, the only thought in his mind being, “gotta save Harry, have to save Harry, I’ve gotta save James- I mean Harry.” He had no other brain capacity, that moment does not define him.
Besides, even if he were a femboy, why does that immediately mean he’s some dumb, giggly lil guy? Femboys are capable of great duality. Again I say, the motorcycle. You all love to act like Sirius was the only one wearing crop tops and platforms and completely forget that it was literally the ‘70s. Like they were men in the ‘70s. They were all your modern idea of ‘twinks’ because you stereotype every fucking thing.
There is more to these characters than their gayness, canon or otherwise. And there is more to them than their aesthetics, too. Remus Lupin was not the smartest of the group, it was Lily and James. Canonically. Sirius wasn’t the dumb lil gay boi, he was smart and sarcastic and rebellious. And just because he’s gay doesn’t mean he’s dumb. Y’all gotta get that through your head. If you can give me one reason Sirius Black deserves the ‘stupid’ allegations, I’ll drop all of this immediately. But you can’t. Your only reasoning is that he’s a twink.
Get a goddamn hobby. Stop fetishizing gay men because ‘they’re pure lil boy likers’. Fuck you.
No TL:DR. Read it or get out
The infantilization of Wolfstar, specifically Sirius Black, is rooted in homophobia and/or the fetishization of gay men. In this essay I will-

Forbidden (Part 1)
A Doctor Strange Original Series
Tumblr media
Pairing: Doctor!Strange x Fem!Reader
Synopsis: Y/n is 21 years old and is in her final year of philosophy school. She has the heart of a philosopher, is an extraordinary singer, a rebel heart and extremely pretty. She also happens to be Tony Stark's goddaughter and Stephen Strange knows it means she is the definition of forbidden fruit and as such deliciously irresistible.
Warnings: None. This one is basically an introduction.
Word Count: 4k
A/N: This first chapter is very introductory, we get to know the reader and her motivations and we also get to know the other characters that will be important for the development of the story. It's a slow burn, funny at times, silly sometimes, but don't worry smut is coming at some point in the next chapters. I hope the pov changes don't get confusing, they were necessary to make the story more dynamic. Also this is the song the reader is singing ;)
Tumblr media
"This is going to be the biggest party of the year and it's going to be full of hotties. I love Mr. Stark"
You stared at Ned rolling your eyes and turning your attention back to MJ and Peter "I'm so glad you're here. I thought this vacation would never come. Tell me about your freshman year at college."
"Excellent" "Terrible" The three replied in unison.
MJ smirked confidently "Peter is complaining because he spends more time being Spider-Man than studying and Ned is the same thing, only he's not Spider-Man which makes it even worse."
"I'm Spider-Man's best friend. He needs me. What do you think is more important, saving people from crime or studying?"
MJ rolled her eyes and Peter sighed "I know I need to work harder. Mr. Stark is scolding me for my grades but it's hard to reconcile the two and Boston has a lot of crime."
You nodded understandingly "It's going to be all right Peter. I didn't do so well my first year either."
MJ sighed "How was the exams?"
"Well, I got full marks on pretty much all of them. I wanted Tony to be happy about it, but he didn't seem impressed." Peter frowned but said nothing.
"You're entering your senior year now, aren't you? You're so close to your graduation, I'm proud of you" MJ stated trying to cheer you up.
You nodded with a shrug "Apart from the part where I'm dying to study and still haven't gotten any response from NYU about the PhD program, I'm also proud of myself."
Ned was snooping through your CD rack and looking through your collection of Avengers Funkos. "They should make one of these for me, after all I'm..."
"...Spiderman's best friend" You replied impatiently "I don't think they make superhero best friend Funkos. Not even family ones."
"Surprising you don't have a Doctor Strange Funko" MJ said staring at you and analyzing your reaction. You blushed and looked away
"Technically Doctor Strange is not an Avenger, so..." Peter corrected.
"Uhum" was all MJ said.
You got up going to Ned and taking one of your cds out of his hand "No touching."
"And how's the band doing? Any chance you'll go on a world tour later this year?" She asked and you sighed "People don't like rock music like they used to. Nowadays radio only gives space to rappers and pop singers."
"So no chance of making a living as a rock star?"
You denied "I'm playing tonight at the party. Tony wants to sponsor me and I know it would be nice to have the Stark name attached to the band, but then it would only reinforce what people think of me. Besides, do I want that? It's one thing to be a small band playing in some nightclubs around town, it's another thing to make a career out of it."
MJ nodded. "It's more fun than being a college professor or a writer or whatever you do with a philosophy degree."
Peter shook his head "Screw them, you know you deserve everything you got. You got into college for having good grades and your band is great because you sing so well you're a great songwriter, if that's what you like I'm sure you'll be able to reconcile the two."
You smiled at him "Thank you Peter, but unfortunately the media loves to say otherwise. Don't get me wrong I love my godfather. Tony has taken care of me since my parents died and he is like a father to me but sometimes I wish I could stop living in the shadow of his greatness."
You heard someone knocking on the door. "Come in"
Pepper opened the door and poked her head in, "Oh sorry, I didn't mean to intrude, it's just that your friends from the band arrived for rehearsal. I invited them to coffee."
You nodded "I'm coming down Pep, thanks."
Peter and MJ got up "Well we'll leave you to your chores, see you at the party."
MJ smirked "Strange coming over tonight?"
You smiled openly "America said so"
Peter didn't seem to understand but MJ pushed him out of the room "You're so innocent sometimes."
...
You chose your outfit for the night with Stephen Strange in mind. You were used to seeing him in the Tower all the time and sometimes when you went to the Sanctum to talk to America, but it was always different when you two were together at a party. He rarely attend Tony's parties and you were surprised when America said he would, surprised and extremely happy. Everyone knew you had a crush on him, everyone but him apparently and Tony, thank god. You knew he was too old for you, he was around 45 and you had just turned 21, but what people thought should hold you back was exactly what attracted you to him. Besides, of course, everything else.
Stephen Strange was an extremely handsome man, he was tall, had those incredible cheekbones, those ocean eyes and that goatee. You just wanted him to look at you the way you looked at him, but it didn't help that you got along so well with all the teenagers you knew. You just couldn't act your age sometimes and maybe that's why he didn't see you as the woman you wanted to be for him.
You finished dressing and looked in the mirror. The black dress you wore covered little more than mid-thigh, the cleavage emphasized your full breasts, you wore fishnet stockings with very high heels and your hair fell loose in waves just a palm above your waist. The bare skin of your arms and chest was adorned with several tattoos, some still in progress.
You opted for a discreet makeup with just layers of mascara and a some lip gloss. A discreet piercing adorned your septum and another on the side of your lips.
"You can do this" You said trying to encourage yourself and finally walking down to the reception that had already started.
When you entered the ballroom you saw Nat, Yelena, Sharon Carter and Maria Hill talking at a table. The hall was still empty, people still arriving. Nat waved at you and you joined them.
"Wow loved the outfit" Yelena said sipping from the glass filled with a blue drink with a small umbrella. "I can't wait for your show"
You smiled and Nat pointed to Tony talking to two men at a table farther away "I probably shouldn't say this, but those are the hottest music producers in NY" You looked back and then back to Nat "I asked him not to do this."
"He's just trying to help you, you know he'll do anything for you" Nat stated and then explained to Maria and Sharon "Y/N has a wonderful band, we will be privileged to see them play tonight."
You grimaced, but your attention was totally stolen by the sorcerer who walked into the hall daring to wear an absurdly elegant three-piece Armani suit. America was right behind him, eyes bright with anticipation at being attending his first major social event since being dragged into your universe.
Strange wasn't exactly thrilled to be at another one of Tony Stark's parties, but after the last particularly difficult mission with the Avengers he couldn't turn down the invitation to celebrate the fact that everyone was alive. Besides, there was a certain grace in watching Stark's dangerously beautiful goddaughter. He knew nothing could come of that flirtation between you, damn he could barely tell if you were even flirting with him or if it was just your way of acting with everybody else, but the truth is he loved the few times you both were on same place.
The fact that you embraced America almost like a little sister and helped the teenager adapt to the NY of that universe only contributed to him being able to see you more often, sometimes in the Sanctum. But Stephen was aware that you were the definition of forbidden fruit. You were very young, a rebel heart, not to mention you were practically Tony Stark’s daughter.
Your smile faded a little when Strange looked at you, but headed towards the table in the opposite direction taking a seat next to Pepper and Tony. America spotted you and waved her hand for you to join them and you just forced a smile.
"I already said he's too old for you" Nat said smiling empathetically. You shrugged "Is that supposed to discourage me?"
Maria looked in Stephen's direction "I didn't know Strange had a daughter." You shook your head "He doesn't, America is his apprentice."
She glared at you and then he and then smirked "Really?  You have a crush on him?"
You sighed and didn't respond. Sharon Carter who replied "I can see why. He's an interesting man." You glared at her and she raised both hands in surrender "Sorry"
Soon the hall was full of guests, the Avengers were gathered in small groups scattered around the hall and Thor was making everyone laugh with his jokes and booming laughter. The stage was set and the DJ’s song choices were actually good and you were on your fourth glass of champagne when Peter, MJ and Ned arrived apologizing for being late. Ned looked around like a kid in a candy store.
Yelena disagreed "It would be better without the goatee."
You groaned stopping the waiter and taking a glass of champagne from the tray "I don't know how I'm going to survive this night."
They waved at you and happily came your way. Nat groaned and Maria and Sharon stood up "That's our cue" Maria said and they walked away.
They approached and MJ sat next to you, but Peter saw Tony waving and ran out to greet his mentor and Ned followed close behind.
"Whats up?" MJ asked staring at you.
You smiled shyly "What's up?"
She stared at Nat and Yelena "She looks drunk, is she drunk already?" Nat just smiled, but didn't respond.
"With champagne? No. Love drunk, maybe?" Yelena replied making fun and you looked at her angry "It's not funny"
Nat denied "It's a bit funny actually, but don't worry, your doctor is heading our way and he doesn't seem to take his eyes off you, maybe there's some hope after all." You disguised it by looking in any direction but his.
"They were responsible for hits of bands like Imagine Dragons, U2 and the Stones as well. I heard someone will shine tonight." Stephen's baritone voice came right behind you making your skin crawl.
"Is it just me or are those..." MJ pointed to the table where the two music producers were accompanied by two women you didn't know "Tony is determined to make me a rock star, it seems."
MJ nodded "They produced some important songs, I just can't remember which ones."
"Hi" was all you managed to say.
He grins at you, a martini glass in his hand. You noticed when his eyes lingered a little longer than they should on the neckline of your dress.
"New ink?" He pointed to a blue bird tattooed on the center of your chest. You smirked "It's still healing. Did you like it?" He nodded. "It suits you. Perhaps you can enlighten me on the meaning." You shook your head "I don't want to bore you with my philosophy, Doctor."
He smirked "You couldn't bore me even if you tried"
MJ and Nat exchanged glances.
"Enjoying the party, doctor?" Natasha asked. He smirked. Stephen was the king of smirks and you would fall for him every time once again.
"As much as possible, there's a limit to how much I can handle Stark's social events, maybe I'm too old for these things."
You shook your head "I'm glad you came, adding to the restricted group of people who understand music"
He chuckled modestly "My knowledge isn't as extensive as it seems. I'm nostalgic I guess, I like good old stuff"
You bit your lip "If you stay a bit longer you'll see that the new generation might have some things to offer you."
Yelena choked on her drink and Nat and MJ held back their laughter. Stephen pretended not to notice the double meaning in your line "Maybe I will. I like to enjoy new things and America wouldn't forgive me if I didn't let her see your show"
You smiled broadly taking a sip of your champagne noticing his eyes they didn't deviate from you for even a second "Before I forget, congratulations on the last mission, doctor. The media can't stop praising you."
He sipped his martini. "It was a team effort. Romanoff was crucial, as always."
Nat shook her head "He's being modest, he and Stark were rock stars there."
You nodded unable to take your eyes off him "That's what I heard"
MJ groaned pointing to the table where America and Ned were talking laughing "Someone needs to save her." She said sighing. Stephen stared "She's going to be fine."
MJ shook her head "No, believe me, she won't" She ran towards America and Natasha took the opportunity to get up "Well, if you'll excuse me" Yelena looked at her without understanding and Natasha raised her incisive eyebrow " Yeah, I'll... take a look around" Yelena said making it all ridiculously obvious.
Stephen chuckled "Can I sit with you?"
"Sure" He sat down next to you "Ready for your final year of college?"
You frowned "I know it's going to be tiring, difficult, but I can't complain, I really like it."
He nodded "Good. Have you started your dissertation yet?" You sighed "I'm stuck on page eighteen, and I can't decide which way to go."
He shook his head "Yeah, I remember what it was like" You raised an eyebrow resting your face on your hand "Really? It must have been ages ago!" "I have a good memory." He moved his fingers in a complicated gesture and his glass filled again with his martini. You smiled. You loved to see him doing magic.
He stared at Tony talking to Pepper and Peter "Stark is proud of you, that's all he talks about." You nodded lowering your head "No he's not. He wanted me to go to medical school, maybe doing mechanical engineering, law, anything but philosophy."
Stephen frowned "Why do you say that?"
"Because I know what he thinks. He thinks I do philosophy because I don't know what I want to do with my life, which would be true if it weren't for the fact that I love my course. Really. I don't understand why not can be seen as something important and worthy. People need to think, they need to understand where we came from and where we are going and why we do things or want what we want..."
He heard you smiling that beautiful smile of his and you stopped “Anyway…”
He took a long sip of his drink "Stark loves you, he only wants what's best for you. If you're going to major in philosophy and have a rock band? He's in. He didn't bring those guys here because he thinks you don't know what you want. He brought them in because he wants you to succeed in whatever you decide to do with your life."
Dammit, why did he have to be so perfect all the time? So sure of everything.
"What about you, doctor? How are things in the multiverse?" He smirked "The multiverse is fine and America is doing great at Kamar Taj. She seems to have settled in well at school. I thank you for that" You nodded "She is a good kid" You frowned "I have a thing for teenagers, you know."
"Sometimes I need to remind myself that until recently you were one too"
You frowned at your glass "Is that how you see me? The same way you see America?"
He looked around as if making sure no one was paying attention to you, "No, that's not what I meant. Quite the opposite, actually."
You drank the last of the champagne and placed the glass on the table, covering it with your hand as Stephen moved his fingers to refill it. "I need to be sober if I'm going to make a good impression on those guys tonight." He nodded "Good decision" You sighed pretending not to see your bandmates arriving at the party.
"So..." He waited and you shook your head "How do you see me then?"
He thought for a moment "Like someone who knows very well what she wants and who spares no effort to get it. Someone who seems dangerously more mature than she really is and likes to play with fire without thinking about the consequences. Adorable, but rebellious and extremely pretty."
You blinked a few times trying to process what he said. You were about to reply when your friend Mike approached "Hey, y/n we need to work out some things with the sound technician"
Stephen stood up "Well I won't slow you down. Have a good show."
"Hmm sorry, you're Doctor Strange right? I'm Mike, I work with y/n in the band. I'm a big fan of yours" Stephen smiles sympathetically shaking Mike's hand "It's nice to meet you Mike. I'm looking forward to your show" Mike grins "Really? This is so cool..."
"Mike the doctor has more to do." You said feeling embarrassed by your friend. Stephen took the opportunity to run away and you were staring at his back thinking that anything you could have said could be a regret later. "Well, let's go"
It didn't matter how many times you had taken the stage at the nightclub shows, you always felt anxious when you did. However that night was different, you felt almost nauseous as if your life was on a scale, your dreams and expectations in a showcase for all to see. It didn't feel good.
Stephen couldn't take his eyes off you on that stage. He swore you'd never been more beautiful and quite the opposite of what you implied he didn't see you the way he saw America. America was like a daughter to him, you were something else, you were like a breath of fresh air, the malice that dangled from the corner of his lips as he nodded to a proud Stark trying to disguise the fact that you captivated him in inappropriate ways . Your music was just like you, loud, messy, rebellious, but in a good way, it exuded revolt and youth and he might as well drink from that youth like a vampire sucking it from you, tasting it at your fingertips or even better at your tongue.
"I think there's a little drool here," Romanoff said in his ear loud enough for him to hear over the whirlwind of electric guitars and drums.
He glared at Stark, assuring himself that he hadn't heard what the widow had said and just smiled.
MJ couldn't have been more proud of her friend and judging by the wide-eyed producers seated just a few tables away were at least impressed. But they weren't the only ones. Stark looked at y/n like a proud father and Doctor Strange looked proud too, but his look wasn't brotherly, on the contrary. MJ wondered how long that flirtation between the two of you would last before something really happens. It was kinda gross but she respected y/n's choices on men.
"She's so beautiful" America said to a delighted Ned and Peter and MJ pretended to cover her ears as y/n swore some curses dominating the stage like a goddess.
Tony was looking at you with a wide smile on his lips. He learned to play the piano from his mother, he was never good at it, but he kept playing because it kept him close to her and especially after she died. You both had that in common, you both tragically lost your parents and he swore to himself that you would never feel like he did. Alone and helpless. He made you a home and you were only 10 years old when you moved in with him and you loved each other before and loved each other even more now. Together from tragedy, as you said.
You've always had a thing for drama, and it wasn't surprising that you wanted to study philosophy, let alone that you were so good with words. He taught you to play the piano, but you went way beyond that, you were an artist. Your music was an escape from your problems, it was where you put your insecurities and uncertainties and fears and he would thank heaven if he believed in god that you found a healthy way to do that. You never had his self-destructive tendencies, although you seemed rebellious, you  never committed a reckless act. You turned everything into beauty and if through that beauty you were able to help other people he wanted to be there to support you, to give you the necessary space to shine.
"I'd like to dedicate the next song to my parents and my godfather Tony Stark." You said sitting by the grand piano and running your hand over your sweaty forehead, your hands were shaking a little as your fingers slid along the keys playing with the intro of the song as you tried to calm down "We've been through a lot but we always found our place next to each other. I love you, Tony.
Natasha had heard that song many times when you sang it alone on the piano on rainy days in the main hall of Avengers Tower, but it took on a whole new life with the whole band. It was no less sad, but it was less of a lament and more of a battle cry. As someone who had been through a lot at a very young age, Nat understood you. Maybe that's why you were so close. Nat knew that pain and grief do that to people.
"As much as I'd like the past not to exist It still does. And as much as I'd like to feel like I belong here, I'm just as scared as you"
Pepper squeezed Tony's arm, resting her chin on his shoulder. She knew that you shared an irreparable loss and that only you understood what it was like. He always got emotional when he heard you singing that song and this time it was no exception, his eyes were full of tears.
When your pocket show ended you were cheered by the crowd, Thor's screams towering above the rest like a proud big brother. You adored him, he always made you laugh.
The hall emptied little by little until all the guests had left, Tony was talking to the two producers who left looking satisfied. Some Avengers were sprawled on the sofas furthest from the hall, others had already left. Thor and Sam were vying for the most drunk spot and Sharon and Steve were sitting hugging each other, his arm around her shoulders. Maria, Yelena and Kate Bishop were laughing at some fun Clint had made, Nat and Bruce were talking at the bar and Peter and MJ seemed to be having a romantic moment while Ned marveled at the things America was telling him about the multiverse.
Stephen was on his way to tell America they had to go home when you came back to the lounge after having escorted your band mates out. You were barefoot, your hair clumsily tied in a bun, the mask melting slightly at the corners of your eyes. He could think of only one word: beautiful. You looked human again after having ascended as some kind of goddess demanding worship. Or maybe come back to the surface after having lured him like a siren willing to take him with you to the depths.
"You were amazing" Tony said hugging you. "I'm proud of you" You hugged him happily and cast a look at Stephen coming towards you.
"Still here, doctor? Isn't it past time for old men to be sleeping?" He smirked. He knew very well that your jokes about his age were much more of an affirmation of how attracted you were to it than actually a tease. He liked to play your game.
"No, but it's definitely past time for little girls to be out of bed." You bit your bottom lip deliberately, "I can't sleep without a goodnight kiss."
He opened his mouth to reply when America came running towards you, wrapping her arms around you, "You're a star, like Dua Lipa or something." You frowned ready to correct it when Stephen shook his head no "Just take the compliment" You chuckled "It's something like that"
Stephen grinned "You were amazing, I really liked what I heard."
You smiled from ear to ear "Really? Please doctor tell me about it" He chuckled "Maybe some other time, now I need to get America home."
"I thought it was amazing" America replied giving him an angry look "you have so much stage presence, one thing I like about this universe is that people..."
You weren't paying attention to a single word she was saying, your eyes were all on Stephen who was looking at you smiling watching the scene.
"You're absolutely right" was all you replied.
"Alright, lets go home. Its very late,  America, tomorrow you go back to Kamar Taj with Wong, remember?" She groaned "They could at least let me rest for the weekend." You sighed watching as he opened a portal to the Sanctum.
"Hey Strange, you are leaving?" shouted Thor resoundingly from across the room. He nodded waving goodbye. "Good night doc" Tony called from the table where he was talking to Pepper and Rhodes.
America waved goodbye and walked through the portal up the Sanctum stairs and out of sight.
"Well, see you around" You said trying to hide your disappointment to see him leave. He approached you and you could smell his perfume mixed with alcohol. He kissed your cheek lightly, but enough to make your entire face heat up at the touch of his goatee on your skin.
"Now you can sleep" He said smirking.
You nodded smiling trying to control yourself not to look too interested "Good night, Stephen"
"Good night, sweetheart"
He passed through the portal which closed immediately leaving only golden sparks behind. You sighed looking for the closest chair you could sit in before your legs gave out. He called you sweetheart. He had never called you that before, or any other way than your name. You smile putting both hands on your face "I'm so fucked!"

Top 10 Disney sequels that were not that bad
You could live all your life without seeing a Disney sequel, and you'd probably better off for it. But some of them, if you don't look too closely and spend your time mourning the original movie, are frankly not that bad.
Will be judged on the quality of songs, of course, on whether or not they stay true to the original movie's message and characterization, f the art doesn't make me want to jump a window, and if the plot is actually interesting and has its own important message.
10 Brother Bear 2
Tumblr media
Did I like that they made a sequel just for the very heteronormative purpose of getting Kinai a girlfriend ? Hell no. Does it erase the fact that the movie holds itself together anyway ? Not really. Not one of my faves, but it's still... not that bad. Characters stay mostly the same, which is sadly rare in disney sequels, and Nita's emotionnal journey is kinda good. Can't remember for the life of me any songs, but since I didn't save any of them in my own playlist I'll go with a wild guess of : they were shit. Also chose that image just to show how her eyelashes were thicker, her eyebrows thin and stylish (for the time). Because she's a girl. And you better never forget it when an animal is a girl.
9 Cinderella 2
Tumblr media
It's one of those weird ones that is just a collection of three or so short stories. And frankly, they were kinda good ? Love, love, the story between Anastasia and the Baker, it's one of the cutest thing ever and has reached my heart way better than Cinderella and her prince's ever did. Jack Jack's arc was interesting, and taught the viewer the priceless lesson of 'stay who you are, that's what you do best' and Cinderella's struggling debuts as a princess are the logical continuation, her characterization something a passionate tumblr user could have come up with, so it rings true. It's not grandiose by any mean, but it's rather unassuming and just works out. The art is a little less sharp than the original, but it's still pretty good. I love it.
8 Kronk's New Groove
Tumblr media
The Emperor's New Groove was genius and Kronk is the himbo of our hearts. It is just natural that the sequel is about him, he deserves it. Weirdly not disliked as much as I'd think Yzma in her half kitten state. Maybe I should question my kinks more closely. Kronk is a good one, even as a villain's minion, and we loved seeing him in a journey to create a life that is better suited for him, find happiness and spread kindness. They did not make him any less stupid, and that's how you know they did right by him. I like the way his love interest look ! She's not pretty-princess-perfect, but you know they'll be good for each other. Art is consistent with the first, no loss on this side, which is pretty appreciated.
7 Cinderella 3
Tumblr media
They went bonkers with this one, and the Prince has this feral Barbie character energy that I love. They could have gone either destroy everything we did knew of him to create him an actual personality, or kept him with no personality and little to no impact on the movie, but they didn't. They made him great, but still the one that rolled his eyes at the ball, and the one that is kinda face blind and struggles but tries ! Everyone's character is still kept mostly intact, the plot makes sense, and if Ao3 is to be trusted, giving us a time travel AU rewrite of their story was a good idea. The art is a bit more sloppy, the colors are just not right compared to the first, but you know what ? Whatever. It's fun and cool and there's the Prince jumping from a window and then trying (and failing) to make his horse jump into a boat across water. That counts for something. Cinderella is also a badass WITHOUT removing her kind, hopeful and sweet self.
6 Peter Pan 2
Tumblr media
I actually kinda liked it ? It was the last I watched, after way too many sequels that I avoided watching for twenty years, so many by then my standards were low. But it was pretty good. Art is consistent and not half assed just to get the movie out fast. They didn't make whatever-her-name-is the exact replica of her mother. She has a different story arc, a different lesson to learn. Peter Pan and the lost boys didn't evolve, or noticed that like two good decades passed since Wendy left, or changed what they wanted or thought about all day long. Which is on brand, the main thing about them is to be stuck in childhood and never growing up. Every day is the same for them, and have them any different or changed with a valuable lesson would be ooc. Tink is still a jealous bitch and that stays on brand (also confirms that she's fitting for my sister to have tattooed on her back) and only shows more positive feelings toward the girl when she was obviously not trying to steal her Peter, and was willing to change and hope again to save her. She is a good Lost Boy because she's not as much as a GirlTM as her mother was, so that works. Also the context changes, and you can see the inspiration from Narnia : children that grew up too fast and don't have time for childish things because the war has stolen it from them. Love that Wendy grew up to cherish Peter Pan's stories and the childhood that goes with it as something precious and to be protected, and how relieved she is when she sees it brought back to life in her daughter in the end.
5 Winnie the Pooh 2 & following
Tumblr media
Not even sure I watched all of the Winnie movies, and probably not in order. But Wherever you are will stay in my heart forever, I love the whole movie, and the story with everyone trying their best to work together to find CR. It's pretty sad, in a good way. Everyone struggles their own way, everyone's character shining bright in their own complexity. Rabbit struggling with his anger issues, Pooh being called out for his careless obliviousness and feeling guilty for not remembering CR's advice, Piglet being an anxious mess. Also contains the best scene to ever exist : the not knot joke. Everyone does their own journey, while they all get lost. And they get found, and everything is right again. If the first movie was careless childhood, the sequel is struggling to adapt when everyone wants you to grow up. I really, really love it.
4 Bambi 2
Tumblr media
Super good ! I didn't know much what to expect when I watched it, but I was pleasantly surprised ! The art is still as beautiful and perfect as the first one, the aesthetic still the same. Bambi's emotional journey was interesting, and many children and older can relate to it. I especially liked his dad's arc. Having to reevaluate your values and life is not easy, especially when you're supposed to take care a ball of manic energy out of nowhere, with no idea how to do it. But eventually he learned out to forget what he was taught to think and focus on going with the flow and do what feels right in his relationship with Bambi. A lot of movies tried to do it, but Bambi 2 made it look simple, genuine, and somehow effortless. Fleur still being a gender icon. Also I liked the whole part with Bambi and his 'adversary' showing that he's just a bully trying to make everyone think he's important, and Bambi and his girl friend not giving him that attention and validation. How to deal with a bully 101, in a way that will resonate with most kids and teens, very well done. Would recommend showing it to a kid that struggles with grief they don't understand or who doesn't know how to react to a bully. And despite those important emotional lessons, it stills manages to look light and pretty and cute, with only harsher colors when humans were attacking them, and/or there is a fight/violence. Very similar to the first. Bravo.
3 Lilo and Stitch 2 & following
Tumblr media
Looks effortlessly like the continuation of the first movie. All the characters are still perfectly in character. Stitch struggles with his fear of undoing all the hard work he did on himself in the first movie. Lilo struggles to trust him, handle her anger issues, and make them both fit into the proper mold she never fit herself, as well as trying to be the best daughter she can be to connect with her mother. Nani struggles to make the family work together in harmony when they are all very different and stubborn. She always took her role of family head at heart and has little to no time for herself in the middle of it, even as the ones in her care don't show any appreciation for her efforts. David struggles with self esteem and wonders if his relationship with Nani isn't working because he's not good enough, to finally re learn what he knew all along : that she is overworked and doesn't need him to be amazing, just to be here for her when she needs him, and that's something he already did. The two aliens, frankly, they don't seem to be struggling much, but they were still there for each other in most ways. It feels right, no problem, and the whole 'Stitch goes bad again because he wasn't charged enough' doesn't pass out as fake or forced in any way. Not bad.
2 The Little Mermaid 2
Tumblr media
Another good example of 'far from being the carbon copy of her mother and instead highlights said mother's struggles at parenting' done well. Melody is not her mother, yet they go through the same struggle at the same age. Without even realizing it, Ariel had made the same mistake that her own father did and is the one causing her child's pain by keeping her away from the world she wants to be a part of. History repeats itself, but not in 'we couldn't come up with a good plot so here are re heated leftovers' but in 'our own abusive family history often comes back to bite us in the ass when we have to raise our own kids'. Melody struggles with being 'weird' and not fitting in anywhere, with being half and half that means she's never fully human or mermaid, and that is something that resonates easily with a lot of kids, teens, and often, adults. Finding your place in life when the world didn't make one for you is hard. And in the end, Melody was the one that threw away the decision of 'one or the other' and fought to have both in her life so she could be truly happy. Kids from two different worlds would probably appreciate that. The songs are good, like real good. Which is freaking rare in a sequel. The art is good too, nothing that goes out as ugly, and I love the ice parts. I love Morgana more than life itself. She's so pathetic and awesome. She has sooo much mommy issues. Can you tell how loaded I am on those from liking that movie ?
Honorable mentions
The Jungle Book 2 : could have been worse. I guess.
Fantasia 2000 : it's only there because it is not really a sequel but I wanted to say how amazing it is.
1 The Rescuers 2
Tumblr media
So good it doesn't read as a sequel at all ! More like a continuation, just another adventure. I love it so much ! And not just because of Johanna, even if it's a big part of it. My sweet little... whatever that is... that singles herself as the only animal too dumb to speak. Every second that she's on screen is gold. I love her... She's the perfect sadistic, greedy and stupid minion. Her master is a very good villain, that is not much brighter than her, which makes for... interesting interactions. Love Cody, he's a good kid. Really appreciate that Australia is apparently spider free so I can still enjoy the movie knowing I'll never go there with my actual body. Babe. Giant. Golden. Eagle. Mama. Do I need to say more ? I don't know if it's better than the Rescuers 1 but it's not far. It's perfect, nothing re heated or fake. Bernard who is husband material every second of the movie (I want one) and Bianca who doesn't doubt that a single second despite the admirable efforts from the Ranger to steal her. And the albatros, who's even better than his cousin, which was hard. That hospital experience was traumatizing. Bernard, Bernard, Bernard... He's so awesome and brave and does wonder on little to no self-esteem. If you don't marry him asap, Bianca, you won't get to complain when I'll have snatched him for myself. And damn... The scene where Cody flies with Marahute was grandiose, breathtaking, like only good Disney do. It's a really good one, if you didn't watch it, you missed something great.

Heya saw you repost something about ouat I didn’t know you watch the show I am a big hook fan What you like about the show? (snow, charming and them are so boring huh? like that they support hook tho)
Hiya,
I only just recently watched Once Upon a Time for the first (second and third) time. And let me say, I am in love. It hits all my interests - literature appropriations, fairy tales, pretty boy actors who act with their eyes, Scotsmen and Irishmen and a cast who are friends outside of the show as well.
I love a story with good flashbacks and great transitions, and this show delivers. It also delivers on brilliantly appropriated fairy tales. This is the first time I've ever liked Snow White. I love that so many of the Red Riding Hood texts are engaged to create her character. There are so many beautiful and emotional storylines and interesting takes on characters. Any text where characterisation is favoured above plot is a win in my book and this show delivers in spades.
I will never get over how brilliant the casting is and how hard actors like Lana Parrilla worked to make the casting work in her favour. The choice of who plays a young version of Snow and Cora are exceptional. Robbie Kay is perfectly Peter Pan. The costumes are brilliant, especially Elsa's purple Frozen dress.
I love the parallels and callbacks in this show as well. They foreshadow and engage with information retrospectively brilliantly on Once. I love the extended family dynamics, the overall themes of hope and finding people, finding family.
I love Captain Hook too! I love his transformation from good to vengeful - for his brother, for Milah. I'm a sucker for anyone who can love that deeply, that loyally. And I love how hard he tries to return to the side of good, to disentangle the man from the legend of the fearsome pirate, and that while he may be a pirate he never completely lost his faith in "good form." (An episode I could discuss ad nauseum and not even for Captain Swan and Snowing feels but for the brotherhood of it all - that Hook and Charming are the replacements for the brother's they lost, that Hook lost and gained a brother to dreamshade, and that he was probably so scared that what happened to Liam would happen to David especially given that the last time the Jolly Roger flew he lost Liam in much the same way David is in peril). And that doesn't even broach the topic of how much I love Hook and Henry and their relationship over the course of the series. Or his relationship with Snow and how similar they are, how much she and Charming love him, both of which make me smile.
I do wish we had more information about Hook's backstory, in all honesty. Not just Hook, though, I suppose. It's probably the half-season storylines that mean we only get a snippet of the Darlings and Bae and a hug for a reunion but nothing more, a single moment of Tink being proud of Hook and Neal, that sort of thing, and I would have definitely loved more of that Neverland trio - especially because it was so important to Hook and Neal's characters. But then again, the old aphorism comes into play, "leave the audience wanting more."
I'm going to disagree with you on Snowing being boring, though. Although I can see why they may come across that way in the series that is so action-packed. But I don't think the action of domestic life is any less thrilling than the action of battle, and Snowing post-season four get a chance to have that settled down family life, "farm life" as Snow once called her dream for her future, after all the trials of tribulations they'd been through. There's a nobility in the simple life, of not being the cause or even part of the drama (much like Mondler, which is the way I would analogise this pairing given that those two get called "boring" or "uneventful" in much the same way despite living the domestic, quiet life) and Snow and Charming deserve a little bit of peace.

SOUR | T. Holland
Word Count: 1.7k
Pairing(s): Tom Holland x Actress!Reader
Warnings: angsty af, swearing
Summary: y/n and tom broke up, and when tom comes around with his new girl 2 weeks later, y/n is sour.
A/n: I was hesitant to post this due to everything going on with tom lmao but yk, fuck it lol. anyways lmk if you want a part two cause I this was pretty short and I have ideas! also I didn’t edit this much lol so sorry for the mistakes!
Tumblr media
His brown guilty eyes were enough to know that he moved on, in two weeks to be exact, after you broke it off. He was spotted recently with a girl he said he was just friends with, what a damn lie.
You try to not let the tears out as you see them making their way on the red carpet of the movie premiere. He looked you straight in the fucking eyes, yet couldn’t even give you a heads up he was bringing a date tonight. You worked together for six months yet he didn’t have the decency.
He betrayed you. He didn’t cheat but he betrayed you.
You had even mentioned her by name before, yet he said you were paranoid and had nothing to worry about. What bullshit.
She was just a new trophy for him, one that he’d put on the shelf later, or smash like it like you were broken.
It started out so sweet and innocent. You had met working together and had started dating under the radar, and you fell in love with him so quickly, even at his worst, but it didn’t matter. He moved on with you still in the picture and that’s what hurt the most. But he would never see or care about how much you hurt. He wasn’t sorry.
Isn’t it funny how someone you thought could love you the way you loved them, was a damn traitor?
He played all these twisted games with your mind, thinking that he felt the same way about you, or at least cared.
God, you wanted to scream, she was sleeping in the bed you lied in and made with him. But she couldn’t care less, she got the prize, a shitty one at that.
You didn’t get it, he couldn’t have fallen in love with someone that quickly, not after what you had.
All you had done for Tom, it didn’t apparently matter to him, cause he’s dating her. He gave you his fucking word, that you were the one who meant something to him, you guessed he just used you.
She was gorgeous too, and she made you feel so small, unimportant and the paparazzi all turned to them, and barely any was paying any mind to you, the star of the movie. It sounded selfish but you put the blood sweat and tears into this movie, and all she had to do was walk with the man you put blood sweat and tears into, and she had all the attention.
He just had to bring her and was showing her off like a new trophy. God, you hated him. You hated him for hurting you like this. And yet, if he asked for you back, you would probably jump at the chance.
He seemed so genuine and true when you had first met him. Brown doe-eyed, attentive and listening to every word you said like it was the most important thing in the world, then things got ugly. He would play all these twisted games with you, making you feel like nothing one moment, and then his everything the next.
He even gave you his fucking word and a promise ring that he would always love you, But Isn’t it funny? He’ll never feel sorry for breaking you.
Suddenly one of your friends, well tom’s brother, wraps his arm around your waist, whispering to you, asking if your okay, before the paps get a few snaps in of the moment. Harry starts leading you away from the commotion before you cried. No one had asked you that until today. Which kind of shell shocked you, because you weren’t and he was the first person who seemed to care.
Harry at the moment couldn’t care less about the out-of-character way his brother was acting, especially towards you. Yes, he loved his brother but hated how he was acting. He couldn’t see how he could treat someone as lovely as you like that.
Tom didn’t even notice the way you were destroyed. He let you go, Harry couldn’t understand why because tom seemed so happy with you, until nearing the end of the relationship.
“Thank you, Harry.” you sniffle, once reaching the inside of the building.
“You shouldn’t be thanking me. I should be apologizing for my brother.”
You smile weakly at him. He wipes the tears from your eyes, before suggesting,
“After they have you up on stage for the thank you’s and stuff, we should just ditch this and go back to my hotel and get room service and raid my candy stash, if you’re up for it.”
“I’ll think about it,” you say with a more genuine yet sad smile.
“Let’s get in there, shall we?” he puts his arm out for you and you link yours in his.
What you didn’t realize is that tom saw harry wiping your tears while doing an interview, and saw you link your arms together when he got inside. To say he was fuming doesn’t even cover how enraged he was.
Once getting in, you realized you and tom would be sitting next to one another, something you truly wished you could get out of.
“You’d better wish me luck.” You point to the seats.
Harry got the bright idea to just take his brother’s spot. He wouldn’t care anyway, he had his new girl Zabrina.
You and Harry had a small conversation about what both of you had been up to after he was Tom’s assistant for filming. You saw him almost every day when you and tom would hang out, harry being the third wheel. You had spent a decent chunk of time with him and definitely preferred the company over being alone, or with your ex.
“I can’t believe you dropped your SD card down the drain! Photos are your life, so you should have paid attention!” you laugh with him.
“Harry, You’re in my seat.” Tom interrupts, with a scowl on his face.
“Can’t you just move down one? Y/n and I are talking here.”
“Tommy I can’t see from that seat!” Zabrina pouts like a child.
“If she can’t see why do I have to sit there? I actually worked behind the scenes on this movie!”
“Harry, don’t make me-”
“You know what! Harry and I were leaving after we thank everyone. So you two lovebirds can have the whole row!” you say venom seething from your mouth.
“There you go, Tommy. Have a nice night you two!” Harry follows up, really sick of the attitude his brother was having.
Tom’s face turned red under the makeup he had on. He was enraged. His brother was betraying him.
“Have a nice time, fucking around” he said, seeing red. he saw your face soften, from anger to confusion, to sadness. You didn’t think he thought so low of you.
“What the fuck tom! We aren’t-”
“It’s not worth it Harry, he’s not worth it,” you say sadly. Standing up, Turning to go towards the stage.
That hit tom with a pang in his chest. He was just trying to get over you, to move forward. But maybe that was the problem. He just left you in the dust (peter parker is that you?) to navigate the way you felt over losing one of the best things you ever had. God, you wished you didn’t fall in love with him before he betrayed you. You wished he just would have thought it through before he ruined you.
Your director motioned over to you and Tom to go up on the stage.
“I’ll meet you outside, Y/n/n.”
That was tom’s nickname for you. He came up with it and he was the only one who could call you that. You were his and he was yours. But yet he knew that long-distance was so fucking hard. He couldn’t put you or himself, so he found someone who was fine with the distance. Zabrina barely paid attention to him unless he wanted attention for herself, but he didn’t realize how he broke much more of you than the surface showed.
“She’s really pretty, I hope she makes you happy,” you mention bitterly, hoping in a terrible way,  he’d never be as happy as he was with you.
Before Tom, you scream out no one would make him happy as you did. Your director cut tom off.
After your director said thanks to everyone and the film started you grab your bag from your assistant, before heading to the exit, tom hurriedly tried to follow you, being caught by Zabrina, asking Tom to take a selfie with her, so she could commemorate her ‘prize’ when truly, Tom was using her as a rebound.
“Zabrina, I need to talk to harry!” he whispers yells.
“Why? He literally is taking to your wretched ex?” she says with venom in her voice.
Tom jogs around her, trying to get to you and Harry, While Zabrina dramatically calls after him.
He was too late, though, he saw you from the doors, you were already getting in your getaway car, with Harry. He ruined everything.
Harry and you were sitting in the limousine that was rented for you, before harry states, “He’ll be the one who crying, I promise you.”
“I always knew this is how He’d leave me. He found someone more exciting, and better than me. I was used a discarded like nothing.” you laugh through the tears.
“You’ll find someone who finds you exciting Y/n, and you’ll be their whole world.” he comforts you.
“Good for him I guess, but it’s like we never happened. Like what the fuck is that?” you ask.
“He’s acting like a damn sociopath.” harry shrugs.
You laugh at that one.
“So what do you want to watch Y/n?”
“Would you hate me if I said legally blonde?”
“Not if we can watch fight club after.”
“You have a deal, Sir!”
Tom however was stuck, watching you and him on screen. Reminiscing of how he fucked up.
It was getting close to an intimate scene, probably his favorite one he’s ever done. All he could think about was someone else getting to touch you, and be with you, he wanted that but at the same time, he couldn’t deal with all the shit of being with you. The relationship was too good, so much that Tom thought sometimes he didn’t deserve someone like you. It was probably crazy of him for thinking like that, but he couldn’t bring you down with him, not when he was so fucked up. He wished he could be the one but he couldn’t so he just hoped you were okay.
