well.
i've been getting some bug bites the past couple of days and while washing my sheets today am 99% sure i found a bed bug so. i guess that's happening to me now.
called the landlord pretty much immediately and then spent the entire evening nuking my bed and linens with the dryer and the steamer, which hasn't actually made me feel any better about going to sleep. it's 3am here and i'm just avoiding going to bed at this point since i don't think there's much else i can actually do tonight. in theory the landlord will have a professional pest control company come through ... soon? one hopes?
i've cancelled half my plans for the weekend and just plan to shower before/wear clothes fresh out of the dryer for the other half. hopefully that's enough.
i think i might have brought them back from miami, i was suspicious of a cluster of bites i got on my shoulder while we were there (could've been mosquito bites, but it was exactly the sort of cluster people describe for bed bugs, which hilariously i don't actually have right now, all of my bites are individual or max in pairs) but my friend helped me strip the bed in the hotel and we really didn't find any other signs. i was still careful coming back though (threw all clothes into the washer/dryer immediately, i even washed and dried the bag i took with me which i definitely don't always do) but i mean, there's no point in overthinking the "blame" since we'll never actually know.
i guess i'm lucky that at least we have in-unit washer/dryer combo so it's convenient to do all of this laundry. it's good that i'm the perfect amount of reactive to the bites in that i react but i don't seem to be allergic (i was allergic to some bugs bites as a kid and it sucked, but those days seem to be behind me now - knocking on wood!) so i'm hopeful we caught it early. we also didn't find any other signs while cleaning tonight, and we checked the mattress and bedframes and everything. tbh if a dead body didn't literally drop in front of me i think we'd still be wondering if it was really bed bugs at all. but at least we should be getting professional treatment covered by the landlord.
we actually had a cockroach problem in this apartment a few years ago that was successfully eradicated after .. i think 3 treatments from the pest control company? so i mean. it would be amazing if this went better than that lol but at least they did do something. at least i don't have cockroaches and bed bugs right now (knocking on wood so fucking hard).
i'm generally a good sleeper so i'm hoping that will carry me through. i just need to get ready for bed, lie down, and go to sleep. i keep telling myself that the worst thing to happen with bed bugs is just that you get bug bites, which sucks but really isn't the end of the world. they're a pretty simple problem compared to other pests.
my roommate hasn't had any bites and she was very good about putting up a strong front for me today while i've cried like five separate times already. but like what even am i going to do about it anymore right now. i should just go to sleep!!
if you've read this far ... thanks! i'm sorry if it's gross! i don't know how to deal with this but i would really like someone to hold my hand and reassure me that the world is not currently ending even if it feels like it 😭

“Come over here, boy, and let me bite your thighs”
Tumblr media
I’m making very tardy responses to comments that piled up while I was sick, and found a comment from this old one-shot I’d written a while back, about an injured and very high Jane Asher tempting Paul from her hospital bed. I might as well admit now that the whole stupid story came about because of this image, which was the first time (but not the last) that I came across a picture of those thighs and gasped out loud. Because... I can’t explain this life-ruiner, okay? I just did. And do. I mean, seriously, I still gasp.
Anyway, I have since then made plenty of appreciations for this idiot’s stupid, bowlegged, asymmetrical, big-head-alien beauty -- as well as his shoulders and other body parts and his general glow-ability, and so I need not wax all salivating here. Because I shouldn’t. I mustn’t. It’s wrong to objectify. Right? So yeah. This is how we process. We mustn’t objectify this man in a nearly 60 year old photo. Instead, we’ll just let his girlfriend do it for us:
Paul's eyebrows rose up to his hairline. “I’m sorry, do what, now?” “Take off your trousers for me,” she smiled. "Go on. Stand over there and drop them, so I can look at you." "What, right here and now? In your hospital bed and with nurses all around?" He helped himself to some of her water. Then he coughed, and sipped some more. "Perhaps later. You’ve seen my thighs before, love.” “I know," Jane drawled as though her tongue was too big for her mouth. "But I never understood  your thighs until I saw them in the paper...and now I want to watch them. And I’m so…so high.” “Indeed, you’re trippin’ balls, lass,” Paul laughed out loud, enjoying her mood immensely. “And just where did you see my thighs and have an epiphany, and suddenly come to comprehend them?” “You were in Miami, I think? There were palm trees. And you’d gone swimming, and there was a snap of you, drying your hair and you looked so…like you. And your thighs were wet. Your thighs were all there.” “I do generally try to keep them near me as I move about…” “That's good thinking! Because I want to chew on them. You should bring them to me, now. Let a Viking princess bite your thighs.” Paul ducked his head, rubbing his neck and doing his best to chase that image from his head. He thoroughly approved of the idea of Jane chewing on him wherever and however she might like, but her timing was lousy. “I cut the picture out, you know…” “Oh? For a scrapbook? Or to keep under your pillow?” “No, no!” Jane managed a horrified stage whisper. “Imagine if someone saw that! No, I keep your thighs in the drawer for my knickers. With my knickers.” Paul bit his knuckle and crossed his legs, unable to completely hold back a laugh even as Jane’s knickers on his thighs made their appearance in his mind. And chewing. This girl needed to go to sleep, now. But…her knickers. She had nice knickers, he knew. Lacy and sweet, and very huggy around her bum, which he loved to squeeze. Oh, God. And now her bum was in his head, too. It was getting very crowded in there, and Paul…well, Paul’s self-control didn’t always extend to keeping down The McSéamus, that lively Irish warrior who lived between his legs and had a bad habit of popping up at precisely the wrong times, all ready to engage with whomever was handy. Paul recalled a particularly embarrassing televised interview during which, thanks to John's wicked and intentional backstage summoning, the too-ready tyrant had refused to be subdued and made a pest of himself throughout the segment. And here the restless little bugger was, in a hospital room, already starting to rouse when he had to know Paul wouldn't let him loose. That fellow was trouble, The McSéamus. Oh...trouble. A happy campaigner, for sure, but indiscriminate and often a bit too alert to any possible opportunity to make an advance. It was the fault of The McSéamus that Paul, knowing he needed to change the subject, couldn't resist flirting a bit more instead. “You know, Jane, sweet, you should maybe keep the picture in the drawer of your nightstand. That way when I’m not around, you know, you could um…look at my thighs before you go to sleep. Maybe be a little bit naughty with yourself, then, and help yourself off into a sweet dream, yeah?” He wiggled his eyebrows at her. "And then you can tell me all about it, when I call from the road..." “I would mark you.” Jane said, dreamily. “All over your legs. I’d bite you. I want to chew on you right there." Her eyes zeroed in on a spot high on Paul's right thigh and he swore he could feel a singe. "I'd brand you like a Viking princess would brand an Irish slave.” She ran her tongue over her teeth, looking straight at him. “A Black Irish one. With hairy thighs.” Paul let loose a mild groan and began to regret offering to stay.
Yes, see...that’s Jane objectifying the boy. Not me. I’m a grown up. Anyway, you can read it at AO3, if you want to find out if Paul succumbs!

The Importance of Local SEO for Pest Control Digital Agencies
In today's competitive digital landscape, local search engine optimization (SEO) plays a critical role in helping pest control businesses stand out online and attract local customers. For pest control digital agencies, leveraging local SEO strategies is essential for maximizing visibility, generating qualified leads, and ultimately growing the client base. In this article, we'll delve into the importance of local SEO for pest control digital marketing agency and explore effective tactics to optimize online presence within specific geographic areas.
What is Local SEO?
Local SEO is the practice of optimizing a website and online presence to attract more business from relevant local searches. It involves targeting location-specific keywords, optimizing Google My Business (GMB) listings, and earning citations from local directories and websites. The goal of local SEO is to ensure that a business appears prominently in local search results when potential customers are looking for pest control services in their area.
Why is Local SEO Crucial for Pest Control Digital Agencies?
1. Targeting Local Customers: Most pest control businesses primarily serve local communities. Local SEO helps these agencies connect with nearby customers actively seeking pest management services. By optimizing for local search queries (e.g., "pest control near me" or "exterminator [city]"), agencies can increase visibility among relevant audiences.
2. Improving Google Maps Rankings: A crucial aspect of local SEO is optimizing Google My Business listings. This includes updating business information, managing reviews, and adding photos. By improving GMB rankings, pest control agencies can appear in Google Maps results, making it easier for local customers to find and contact them.
3. Increasing Website Traffic and Leads: Effective local SEO strategies drive targeted traffic to a pest control agency's website. When potential customers find relevant and authoritative information online, they are more likely to visit the website and inquire about services. This leads to higher conversion rates and increased lead generation.
4. Building Trust and Credibility: Local SEO efforts, such as obtaining positive reviews and citations from local sources, contribute to building trust and credibility within the community. Potential customers are more inclined to choose a pest control agency that has a strong online presence and positive reputation.
Effective Local SEO Tactics for Pest Control Digital Agencies
To leverage the benefits of local SEO, pest control digital agencies should implement the following tactics:
1. Keyword Research: Identify and target location-specific keywords related to pest control services (e.g., "termite treatment Miami" or "rodent removal Houston").
2. Optimize Google My Business: Claim and optimize the Google My Business listing with accurate business information, photos, services offered, and customer reviews.
3. Local Citations and Directories: Get listed on local directories and citation websites (e.g., Yelp, Yellow Pages, Angie's List) to improve online visibility and authority.
4. Localized Content Creation: Create blog posts, articles, and landing pages targeting local topics and addressing common pest issues in the area.
5. Mobile Optimization: Ensure that the agency's website is mobile-friendly, as many local searches are performed on mobile devices.
6. Local Link Building: Earn backlinks from local businesses, organizations, or community websites to enhance credibility and SEO rankings.
7. Monitor and Respond to Reviews: Encourage satisfied customers to leave positive reviews and promptly respond to any feedback or inquiries to demonstrate excellent customer service.
Monitoring and Measuring Success
Implementing local SEO strategies is not a one-time effort; it requires ongoing monitoring and optimization. Pest control digital agencies should track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as website traffic, keyword rankings, GMB insights, and conversion rates. By analyzing data and making informed adjustments, agencies can continuously improve their local SEO efforts and stay ahead of the competition.
Conclusion
In summary, local SEO is a fundamental aspect of pest control digital marketing agency aiming to target local customers and expand their client base. By implementing effective local SEO tactics such as optimizing Google My Business, targeting location-specific keywords, and building local citations, pest control agencies can increase online visibility, drive qualified leads, and establish credibility within their communities. Investing in local SEO is essential for staying competitive in the pest control industry and achieving sustainable business growth in targeted geographic areas.

The Low-Maintenance Appeal of Hardscapes in Miami and Pinecrest, FL
In today's fast-paced world, homeowners increasingly turn to low-maintenance landscaping options to beautify their outdoor spaces without the constant upkeep. Hardscapes in Miami and Pinecrest, FL, such as pavers and concrete, offer a durable and attractive alternative to traditional landscaping features like grass and plants. The following are the reasons why hardscape materials are a popular choice for homeowners.   Minimal Watering: Unlike grass and plants, which require regular watering to stay healthy and green, hardscape materials require little to no watering once installed. This saves water and reduces the time and effort required for maintenance.   No Mowing or Trimming: Grass requires regular mowing and trimming to keep it looking neat and tidy. Hardscape materials, on the other hand, do not require any mowing or trimming, saving homeowners time and effort.   No Fertilizing or Pesticides: Maintaining a lush lawn requires fertilizing and the use of pesticides to control weeds and pests. Hardscape materials do not require any fertilizing or pesticides, making them a more environmentally friendly choice.   Durable and Long-Lasting: Hardscape materials, such as pavers and concrete, are known for their durability and longevity. Once installed, they can withstand heavy foot traffic, extreme weather conditions, and other environmental factors without frequent repairs or replacements.   Easy to Clean: Hardscape materials are easy to clean and maintain. Regular sweeping and occasional washing with a hose is usually all that's needed to keep them looking their best.   Versatile Design Options: Despite being low maintenance, hardscape materials offer a wide range of design options to suit any style or aesthetic preference. From sleek and modern pavers to rustic and natural stone, there's a hardscape material to complement any outdoor space and overall landscape design in Miami and Miami Beach, FL.   Adds Value to One’s Home: Hardscape features, such as paver patios, walkways, and retaining walls, can add value to one’s home by enhancing its curb appeal and creating functional outdoor living spaces. Potential homebuyers often appreciate the low-maintenance nature of hardscape materials.   Sustainable Landscaping Choice: Hardscape materials are a sustainable landscaping choice that can help reduce water usage and promote environmental conservation. Homeowners can contribute to a more eco-friendly outdoor environment by choosing hardscape materials over traditional landscaping features.   Hardscape offers a low-maintenance landscaping solution that is both attractive and practical. With minimal watering, no mowing or trimming, and easy cleaning, hardscape materials provide homeowners with a beautiful outdoor space that requires little upkeep. Whether a homeowner is looking to create a patio, walkway, or retaining wall, hardscape materials are a durable, long-lasting, and environmentally friendly choice for all their landscaping needs.

Climate change. What is it?
this is an action project that will be delivered in three posts: the what, the why, and the how.
Please read and educate yourself on climate change in this post; read the second post to understand how you contribute to climate change; and read the third post to learn what you can do to help solve the issue and to understand that you are perfectly capable of helping and that we need to act now!!
links: post 2 post 3
Tumblr media
Climate change is the long-term shift in temperatures and weather patterns.
Climate change is the largest threat the world is facing right now. It is a global issue.
Climate change does not solely affect the environment or one group of people; everyone has been or will be impacted in some way, shape, or form by climate change’s effects.
More often than not, we tend to not care about issues that do not directly impact us; however, climate change is a problem that does affect you and your relatives. Most likely, your future children or grandchildren.
Increased sea levels
For instance, climate change increases sea levels due to global warming, which means coastal cities will eventually become uninhabitable in the near future. Miami-Dade County is predicted to be 60% underwater by 2060.
The rising temperatures on Earth melt the glaciers and ice sheets in Antarctica. The ice water adds to the seawater, and seawater expands as it warms.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Increased natural disasters
Catastrophic events such as hurricane Katrina and hurricane Ian will occur more frequently and severely due to climate change along with extreme floods, wildfires, and droughts.
Increasing sea levels and increased extreme weather makes the Caribbean region exceptionally vulnerable to climate change. By the next century or so, the islands will not offer suitable living conditions for humans.
North America is not only affected. The 2022 Pakistan floods, the 2022 Bangladesh floods, the 2015-2023 Somalia drought, Brazil’s wildfires, Argentina’s wildfires and unfortunately, tons more.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Forced migration
Those living in Miami-Dade, the Caribbean, or any country affected by natural disaster will ultimately have to move out and find elsewhere to live because of unsuitable living conditions.
In the future, immigration laws will have to change and adapt if nothing is done to prevent climate change from ruining life on planet Earth.
Countries or states may not accept foreigners if they are already low on resources and must prioritize their people first.
Tumblr media
Why would you find this important if you don’t live in an area where events like the above do not occur often? I’ll share with you why.
What the heat causes
Climate change means higher rate of heat waves. The scorching summer can already be felt and it’s still Spring. The greenhouse effect and ozone depletion are what is causing the rise in temperature, and this means increased risk of sunburn, cataracts, and skin cancer.
the above will be explained further in our second post
Tumblr media
Less food
The heat reduces crop yield (number of crops produced) and makes it difficult for common crops such as corn, wheat, soybeans to grow.
Plants under global warming have less time for photosynthesis as the heat speeds up the plant life cycle, do not receive the amount of nutrients they require, and they plant species may die out because of increased droughts, floods, and wildfires.
The crops are also more susceptible to pest outbreaks because pests and insects move when an area gets too hot making them invasive in a new area because there are no natural predators to control their population growth.
Climate change impacts the food industry; the amount of food we eat, the quality of the food we eat, and the amount of food we get are affected by climate change. More people will have less access to the healthy foods they need in order to live a successful, nutritional life.
Since food would be scarce, prices will rise.
Tumblr media
Pollution
Air pollution and acid deposition (air pollutants that fall down as precipitation or gas/dust) contribute to climate change and global warming.
Toxic pollutants can lead to increased acidity in bodies of water and can be fatal to the wildlife in those bodies of water. Fish in oceans consume the toxins and those who eat seafood consume the toxins as well.
Smog, a sometimes clear or brown cloud of smoky fog that moves slow and takes over entire cities, is caused by climate change and leads to increased risk of heart and lung diseases when inhaled by people.
Those over 65, babies, and young children are most vulnerable to smog.
The pollutants irritate the breathing airways and can also irritate the eyes.
Most polluted areas include, but are not limited to: Los Angeles, Mexico City, Danmam, Delhi, Ghaziabhad, and Seoul.
The worst smog disaster occurred in London, 1952, the Great Smog of London. Between 10,000 and 12,000 deaths were estimated as a result of the incident.
Tumblr media
Increased power outages
The heat causes more people to use air conditioning to cool themselves and everyone using the same power at once leads to frequent blackouts.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
You may not be directly affected by climate change yet, but it will make its way around somehow and you will have to act accordingly in order to save your future.
Climate change has increased sea levels, will increase frequency and severity of natural disasters, decrease crop production which means less food, increase risk of skin cancer due to global warming, and increase risk of heart and lung disease because of smog.
As a result, forced migration/displacement will occur and many will have to leave their beloved homes.
But how is this our fault and why is it happening?

Creating a Home Butterfly Sanctuary in Kendall and Coconut Grove, FL: Balancing Beauty and Biodiversity
Kendall, nestled in the vibrant state of Florida, is not just a place with beautiful landscapes; it's also a haven for diverse flora and fauna. For residents looking to enhance their outdoor spaces, creating a home butterfly sanctuary in Kendall and Coconut Grove, FL  is visually pleasing and contributes to local biodiversity.
1. Native Plants: The Backbone of Biodiversity:
The key to a thriving butterfly-friendly landscape in Kendall lies in native plants. These plants have evolved with the local ecosystem and are naturally suited to the climate. Choose a variety of native flowering plants that provide nectar, such as Milkweed, Firebush, and Blanketflower, to attract a range of butterfly species.
2. Creating Butterfly Buffets:
Butterflies have specific preferences when it comes to nectar sources. By selecting a diverse array of plants that bloom at different times of the year, one can create a continuous buffet for butterflies in Kendall. This ensures a steady food supply and encourages different species to visit one’s garden throughout the seasons.
3. Host Plants for Caterpillars:
To truly support the entire life cycle of butterflies, incorporate host plants into the landscape. These plants serve as a nursery for butterfly eggs and food for emerging caterpillars. For instance, Milkweed is the primary host plant for Monarch butterflies, providing a crucial habitat for their caterpillars.
4. Providing Sun and Shade:
Butterflies are cold-blooded creatures that rely on external sources of heat to regulate their body temperature. The landscaping design in Miami and Miami Beach, FL or in Kendall and Coconut Grove should include both sunny and shaded areas to cater to the varying needs of butterflies in Kendall. Basking in the sun helps butterflies stay active and energized.
5. Butterfly-Friendly Water Features:
One can integrate water features like shallow puddles or small birdbaths into the landscape design. Butterflies often visit these areas to drink and extract essential minerals. The gentle sound of flowing water also adds a soothing element to the garden.
6. Avoiding Pesticides:
Chemical pesticides can be harmful to butterflies at different stages of their life cycle. Opt for natural pest control methods or choose butterfly-friendly alternatives to keep the Kendall landscape thriving without compromising the health of these winged visitors.
7. Strategic Plant Placement:
Consider the layout of the garden to provide shelter and resting spots for butterflies. Plant taller species along fences or walls to create windbreaks, and include strategically placed rocks or logs where butterflies can perch and rest.
8. Grouping Plants for Effect:
Create visually appealing clusters of plants to attract butterflies more effectively. Grouping plants of similar colors and shapes enhances the aesthetic appeal of the Kendall landscape and makes it easier for butterflies to locate nectar sources.
9. Continuous Blooming:
Ensure a steady supply of nectar by selecting plants that bloom at different times. This continuous blooming cycle provides sustenance for butterflies year-round, transforming the garden into a lively and colorful haven.
In Kendall, where the tropical climate and lush greenery define the landscape, butterfly-friendly landscaping is a harmonious blend of aesthetics and environmental conservation. By carefully selecting native plants, providing essential elements like water and shelter, and avoiding harmful chemicals, residents can create a vibrant and sustainable haven for butterflies. The result is a visually stunning garden and a contribution to the biodiversity that makes Kendall a truly enchanting place to call home.
