This also happens when they’re fishing:
Telemachus: father why aren’t there any fish biting? am I doing it wrong? (sad fatherless son noises)
Odysseus: oh no no, two seconds, it’s probably old bait
(Odysseus tying ‘new bait’ to the line, turning to face the sea)
Odysseus: big fish. now.
*after the events of the odyssey*
*telemachus and odysseus walking down to the docks, after odysseus said he'd go sailing with his son*
(listen the man had missed 20 years of his son's life, he could ask ody to dress in drag & do the hula and odysseus would already be shouting "LUAU" in a grass skirt before tele finished his sentence)
telemachus: i'm so excite- *looks ahead*
telemachus: *stops walking* oh no *sad noises*
odysseus: *still walking* what's wrong son?
telemachus: *points to the sea beyond ithaca's shores* poseidon must be angry today, look at the storm in the distance
odysseus: *looks ahead but without worry on his face* no need to worry, we can still go sailing, follow me
telemachus: *confused but follows his dad*
*both make it to the docks*
odysseus: you get started, i've just got something to do & then i'll join you on the ship
*telemachus hops on the ship and odysseus turns to face the sea*
odysseus: *red eyes activate* i'm. going. sailing. with . my. son.
*the sea storm dissipates in record speed*
odysseus: good.
odysseus: *red eyes deactivate*
odysseus: *turns to telemachus smiling like nothing happened* shall we go then?
telemachus: *happy but very confused*
telemachus: *mumbling to himself*what just happened?
#the fatherless son noises is a reference to the odyssey if you’re interested#basically Telemachus has a hard time with Xenia because he had no dad to teach him#(he does ok but it’s not perfect)#then pesistratus (nestor’s son) shows him up because his father came back and it’s like this ‘what could’ve been’ thing for Telemachus#this builds potential for pesistratus being that cousin Odysseus compares Telemachus to but not spitefully just. pitifully.

I love Epic The Musical very dearly but I do wish just a little bit that we’d gotten to watch Telemachus’s antics in Pylos. His gay awakening(?) over Pesistratus? Athena disguised as an old man?? Nestor and Menelaus?! HELEN! He really has a bewildering time away from Ithaca lol
#epic the musical#the odyssey#Telemachus#does he have friends on Ithaca?#I mean other than the family dog and Eumaios who is old enough to be his dad?#because assuming he kind of doesn’t#it’s really funny that he finally meets somebody his own age who doesn’t want to marry his mom and kill him#and is utterly enthralled#also it is funny to me how much more well adjusted epic!telemachus is than odyssey!telemachus#the bar is LOW#but like… at least epic!Telemachus doesn’t get into screaming matches with his mom and spend like four book oscillating wildly between#‘my dad is definitely dead and everybody should give up all hope RIGHT NOW’ and#‘I’m going on a whole adventure to learn more about my dad because maybe he’s alive actually’#get a hold of yourself Telemachus!#ALSO he doesn’t tell his mom he’s leaving in the odyssey#and he *does* try to justify it but come on. that’s an act of Incredible Stupidity#the sort of thing only a painfully ill-adjusted barely-adult would do#sigh.

About mythological ships:
What is your OTP? (favorite romantic/sexual relationship)
What is your BROTP? (favorite platonic relationship)
What is your NOTP? (the opposite of OTP)
You can say more than one in each category if you want
How fun! Thank you for the ask! :D
For OTPS:
OdyPen and MenHelen (Helen x Menelaus) are my ultimate faves. I genuinely love them so much. They plague my thoughts constantly. They go on double dates.
for other ships that I enjoy: DioSthe and Patrochilles (QPR or romantic, I enjoy them either way), Ares x Aphrodite, Ariadne x Dionysus, Apollo x Hyacinthus, EROS X PSYCHE. Ctimene x Eurylochus, Laertes x Anticlea, Periboea x Icarius, Tyndarius x Leda, Andromeda x Perseus, Hector x Andromache, Telemachus x Polycaste, many many more but I DO enjoy these ones a lot :3
For BROTPS:
Penelope and Helen, (they are technically related but you know) Odysseus and Menelaus (THEY ARE HOMIES), Helen and Hector, The Virgin Goddesses definitely have brunch together (aroace icons), Ganymede and Hebe (you know they have so much gossip). The Achaeans as a whole, I love comradery. Telemachus and Pesistratus too.
For NOTPS:
OdyDio (I don't think I've ever hated a ship so much before, sorry not sorry lol. If you bring up pederasty, I'll kill you.), Helen x Paris/Deiphobus, Odysseus x Circe/Calypso, Hephaestus x Aphrodite, Odysseus x Polites (My Odysseus is Penromantic/Pensexual and my Polites is an AroAllo mad lad lol. they are homies though), Penelope x the suitors, (...ew :/ ) Penelope x Circe (EWWWW), Telemachus x Antinous. Anything with the Tele-GONE-y
That's my thoughts on Mythology ships for the most part :3 Thank you for the ask, Dear Anon!

I love how when Herodotus introduces Pisistratus he has to have an aside that’s like “generally the Logic and Rationality and Cleverness and FREEDOM FROM SILLY FOOLISHNESS distinguishes the greeks from the rest, but this next thing he did is so silly and foolish I Cannot Believe he got called ‘the cunningest of the greeks’ after this”
[this is the bit when pesistratus finds a tall girl, dresses her up as Athena, and is like Please let me in the goddess Athena said it’s my turn to rule Athens]
#hapo reads herodotus#hapo reads greek lit#i do want to do more drawings but for now im just enjoying

Though Pesistratus is not the kindest ruler, I must say I am throughly enjoying the festivities taking place at “The City of Dionysia” are very fun and entertaining. I’m especially excited for the theatre competition to commence!

TIL
That Pesistratus was a ruler of Ancient Athens who used to be a citizen. How did he become the ruler? He claimed he had been attacked, so the city let him have bodyguards. He then used his bodyguards to take over the city, becoming its ruler.
Seriously check out this guys Wikipedia page. It is awesome. Here-
