i contain multitudes and can say that i am a little :( about vex and percy being teammates with benefits because i think there’s something particularly heartbreaking about the dynamic that was neither of them ever said a thing even though they both were aware of it and it took losing percy for vex to finally admit it and Even Then, she couldn’t say it to percy’s face when they got him back, percy was the one who had to make the first move (that they were both alive for at least) and he was only able to do that because he’d heard her confession, because he never would’ve thought otherwise. to be clear, i also very much enjoy the story being told, i think i just wish they’d maybe committed more significantly to This Is A Campaign-Inspired Story Rather Than A Retelling sooner in the show so that maybe there would be a bit more grounding or set-up for the storylines the narrative is focusing on (and i understand why they wouldn’t), because i think they’re doing very well with percy’s arc for example, because they started with focusing on his and keeping his beats mostly the same and that seems to be much the same case as some of his second wave of meaty character stuff has arrived. but with vex they’ve aimed for the same character beats but it doesn’t always feel as earned or really feel like much character at all; i think saundor particularly was a bit of an :/, since in the campaign it was really a catalyst for vex interrogating her role in the party and her morality and something she struggled to get over and that haunted her far beyond the walls of that tree, but in the show it hasn’t really had a clear impact on vex beyond the scope of the episode itself — syldor certainly has, but the challenge that saundor presented didn’t really have much weight beyond its moment. and obviously a large part of that’s also probably just, 7 protagonists and wanting to expand the perspectives to antagonists and give more room for side characters is a lot of things to cover. and, i say with love, perhaps a bit too ambitious for a 12 episode per season, ~22 minute runtime show if they want their characters to have the kind of depth that really makes campaign 1 shine the way it does.

the more i see these girls without their filters and editing the less i hate myself. i have been comparing myself to these overly edited photos where they’re synching their waists and shooping themselves to near unrecognisability and it’s all bullshit. even if it doesn’t look edited, it’s edited. and ive been constantly having to remind myself that since i don’t hyper edit my photos. so no matter what i do i will never be on the same level as them unless i also start photoshopping the shit out of myself too. so like it still sucks constantly seeing this shit but at least im starting to love my appearance for what i actually can offer and not just some fantasy.

The mess on the couch Margaret bought - that can’t be cleaned - the mess created by bringing a child into the world - while death is looming nearby.

How the whole scene is a metaphor for Bucks life - how his entrance into the world was messy and death was looming - how his birth was an attempt to keep death at bay but it came anyway and has held the hand of the Buckleys ever since. How the Buckleys tried to clean up the mess but their secret created an uncomfortable life for Buck - one that couldn’t be kept hidden and once revealed exposed the mess. How the couch is unsalvageable in much the same way Bucks relationship with his parents is - the mess will always be there in the centre of things.

How the couch is orange and how orange is a colour of superficiality arrogance and pride.

How Kameron batted Natalia away initially but ended up holding her hand - holding the hand of death while bringing life into the world - the same way Margaret was when Buck was born.

How Buck holding that baby and needing a few seconds but ultimately being able to hand it over and let go is a representation of him breaking the cycle even if he is still connecting himself to death he has broken one link in the chain - the link to his birth.

the number one thing about nana that i don’t see people talking about even though it’s a huge motif in their relationship is how nana o uses the “nana k is a puppy” thing as a space to explore her attraction to nana k. like it’s pretty kinky, but nobody puts the petplay subtext in their nanahachi gay compilations….. granted the other evidence includes them kissing multiple times, comparing their feelings to romantic love with zero ambiguity, and fantasizing about the other in bed, so i can see how the part where nana o wants to put nana k in a dog collar and eventually uses the (potentially sexual) language of their puppydog inside joke to literally secretly declare her undying love and devotion to nana k on live television doesn’t necessarily make top ten in terms of overt ““queercoding””
