Prayer for Protection from a Personal Deity

Dingir means "God/Goddess" in Sumerian. You can replace it with the specific name of a deity, or My Goddess, My God, or My Deity. Or adapt it to other pantheons if you want.

"My Dingir, who looks upon me. Splendid one who encourages celebration and listens to words of prayer, you guide fine speech and tongues, great one who loves the truth, august intercessor, hear my words.

Direct my eyes, ears, and mouth towards truth and goodness. My Dingir, it is you who watches me. My Dingir, it is you who hears my cries, My Dingir, it is you who is pleased by my laughter.

My Dingir, I seek your protection as I go about my day. My Dingir, I seek your protection as I sleep at night. My Dingir, I seek your protection from those who wish me harm.

My Dingir, your divine splendor radiates in all directions. My Dingir, your power puts me in awe. My Dingir, I graciously thank you for your protection.

Context: Many ANE cultures believed in having a personal God, often unnamed but sometimes named. They were usually the ones you turned to first. They could also be seen as intercessor between you and other Gods.

While it is written in Mesopotamian style you can adapt it to other pantheons if you like!

Mesopotamians like repeating things 3 times 😅

I chose to spell it dingir and not Diĝir to try and make pronunciation easier. Diĝirĝu (Dingirngu) is "My God/Goddess" in Sumerian.

This was inspired by lines 1-4 of segment D in ETCSL 4.02.1

Making your own religion

Thinking real hard about fully committing myself into making my own religion. With my own gods, rituals, scripture. I wonder who else has done this?

I have already developed my own personal god, was mainly thinking about expanding that into a fully fleshed religion. Should I? How could I like give it power?

I'm interested if anyone else has done this or knows of resources about this :3

And when the cops detained him he showed them the same fake id he used in New York. And oh yeah he's a frat bro gym rat who has a masters degree in computer science from Penn but reads stupid self-help books about being on the grind and is 'anti-woke' while being bisexual suffering from anxiety and wanting to end oppressive capitalism. Not even god himself could invent a person like this

sometimes I randomly think about the time a girl posted in this girls only Facebook group I’m in telling everyone how she broke up with her boyfriend and he lied saying that he lost the spare key she gave him, only to then break into her apartment when she wasn’t home and steal the cat they’d adopted while they were together, but then he denied having done this and she didn’t really have proof that he took the cat since he wouldn’t let her come into his place and look for it. And then another girl saw this post and knew her ex-boyfriend, and she was like “girl. I used to hook up with your mans back in xxxx and I still have his number. If you want, I’ll hit him up and get him to invite me back to his place and see if your cat’s there.” And the OP was like “bet.”

So this woman hit up homie dog, asked him out for drinks, went home with him, slept with him, and then woke up in the middle of the night and TOOK THE CAT. Like she had only said that she would confirm if the cat was there but then she took it upon herself to steal this woman’s cat back. Like she full on Trojan horsed this man and then hit up homegirl like “I got the goods. Where you wanna meet.” And then the two of them posted a photo of them together with the cat to the group.

And I just think women supporting women is so beautiful.
