For the last couple of months, only Server Boosters had access to the 3.5 update... Buuuuut now it's available for everyone to play in the 14DWY Discord — and soon itch.io once I'm happy with the QA and state of the game — so please don't feel pressured to join unless you want to!!

What's been added to the 3.5 version?

📺 Streamer Mode!

I've been told that it's difficult to stream and monetise age-restricted videos on YouTube and Twitch, so I added an option to remove the sexual content and strong language used in the demo.

Now y'all can invite Ren into your bed for cuddles without putting your streamer career on the line /silly /lh

This won't affect the 18+ rating or dark themes/elements of the game, however! Although Streamer Mode will prevent you from seeing any "gruesome" CGs in the future, most of the core elements of the game will still be tied to the choices and decisions you make. So you won't miss out on the overall experience by using streamer mode!!

⚙️ Custom Pronouns!

It only took me one entire year to get around to it, but you can finally choose your own preferred pronouns (or use a set of pronouns instead)... At the cost of being able to change them mid-game ^^;

Since the original pronoun screen wouldn't update until a new scene was displayed, I temporarily disabled the feature. But once I find a workaround, I'll bring it back!

💗 Choose how others perceive you!

You can now choose how the cast and narration perceive you! Originally, the narration was kept strictly gender-neutral (outside of pronouns and genitalia picked by the player), but this will soon change in future updates.

For more clarity: you don't get to choose the words specifically, but you can choose between masculine, feminine, and androgynous terms!

📋 Separate top and bottom genitalia!

You can now choose your tatas and pps separately! >:3

Alongside that, you can also choose your preferred body type!

I removed the "both" genitalia option because a few players still assumed it was an obscure version of "intersex". That wasn't my intention and I don't want to mislead anyone, so I took it out for now ^^;

I also didn't want to include a screenshot of the new genitalia choices in action (because it's NSFW), so y'all get the same character menu screen for the nth time instead lmao

📱 Relationship Screen Overhaul!

You can now change your own status for more immersion, and long-term Server Boosters will eventually be able to submit and use their own icon within the game as well!

Stalking finding your friends has now become easier by using "Buddy Maps"; a new app that allows you to see the location of all the cast members!

I want to offer players more incentive to check the relationship screen since they tend to miss the status updates, so hopefully this might help ;v;

It also says it "updates every few hours" so folks don't go overboard and check every 5 seconds to see where Ren is gdsghf (also keep in mind that he's a hacker lol)

🖤 Additional Scenes Update!

Day 2 received a brand new CG!!!!! Originally, I planned on only adding a few CGs sporadically throughout the game, but it didn't feel right to leave Day 2 so... empty... so I added a brand new CG to (hopefully) make things feel more balanced and natural!

If you decline Teo's offer on Day 3, Leon will now call and try to convince you to reconsider. However, players are still allowed to decline, and if they do, they'll reach a dead end.

After listening to feedback on itch, I changed some of the dialogue during Days 1-3 to make it seem more consistent! They're only small changes though, so it's honestly not worth looking for sdgjssga

🎶 Updated BGM and SFX!

I wanted to try out a different style of music to see if it fits the vibe of 14DWY more! The BGM features more acoustics to suit the "beachy" theme of Corland Bay, though I made a conscious effort to include piano elements as well to stay true to the original!!

I figured it'd be better to give players a live example before I make a poll (to see if they prefer the change or not) and publish it to Itch.

Some new SFX have also been added, though it's very minimal and honestly not that noticeable.

How to download and play the update?

(warning: clicking on the following links will open Discord!!) To download the Day 3.5 update, simply join the 14DWY Discord server, verify your age, and visit the "14dwy-updates" channel!

Alternatively, you can also wait until the update is publicly released on Itch to play it as well!! (It normally gets released shortly after a round of QA testing/getting feedback from the server, though I may release it earlier if I feel like it hehe ^^)

To those who don't know, I took a mini break this week. The election really got to me, more than I thought it would, and I was taking spiritual damage from the world collectively grieving. I haven't mastered blocking that shit out 🤣

Between my call center job, my family, and everything else in my life, my brain went on a hard chill. Im doing what I need to survive. Which is staying the hell off my phone.

And yknow what, it has really helped. My emotions are starting to level out now that I can pick out what's actually mine.

Maybe I'll update this week, maybe I still need to chill, who knows.

The queer platonic question brought up something that I've been struggling to talk about, which is like, that there's a word to describe something about myself that I've always kind of known, but played off as a joke, or an thought I must be unconsciously exaggerating, or that there was some connection I was just missing.

Aplatonic.

Even before I found out there was a word for it– that it was something other people experienced– I was getting the strong sense that there was something "wrong" with the way that I interacted with people that I got close to.

A few years ago I made the deliberate choice to stop letting myself get very close and intimate with people I met online, because inevitably, again and again, I would get a crush on them, and fall in love with them. And I would fail to understand what– in hindsight– were completely normal boundaries of intimacy between friendship and romance. 

I don't know how to interact casually with someone I'm close to without flirting with them. I don't know how to care about someone without wanting to kiss them, and brush their hair and take them dancing, and solve their problems, etc etc.

And it was seriously complicating my life– which at this point is comfortably married and settled– so I just sort of stopped.

I've gotten better at managing it for the last while, just by being aware of it.

Learning that 'aplatonic' is a thing you can be has helped me understand and manage myself, just by having a word for it.

For one thing, it's made "platonic shipping" and "friend shipping" and "familial shipping" and platonic F/Os in fandom make a whole lot more sense to me.

It makes my enemies to lovers fixation make a whole lot more sense too.

I genuinely didn't– and still don't, emotionally– understand how you can want two characters to have an intense relationship that *isn't* romantic.

But I understand that there's this whole experience of attraction that I'm missing out on and that that's what other people are experiencing and expressing.

I don't really have an end to this post. It's something that I'm still struggling to communicate, and figure out what it means beyond the obvious way I've been living with it my whole life.

September Semi-Hiatus

Hey, lovelies! I mentioned in this post the possibility of taking a small writing hiatus and I am making it official. With the exception of Club Owner!Bucky and possibly the super secret project @targaryenvampireslayer I are working on, I have no intention of posting any new writing or updating any current AUs in September.

Why?

My workload has completely shifted and it's going to take me a bit to get into a comfortable rhythm. I don't want to put unnecessary pressure on myself to post fics when I know I'm going to feel worn out. I love posting here, but my job is what pays the bills and puts food on the table for my kiddos. That comes first.

I've written a decent amount this year, so there is still a bit to reread or catch up on if people wish! Maybe it'll give me a chance to catch up on what others have written, too.

So, you're not writing at all?

I'm still going to write in my free time as I can. Just no posting of new or ongoing fics (minus the one or two exceptions I mentioned). I have an idea or two I want to start and maybe the month is a good time to flesh it out. I also want to catch up on things like Sugar Daddy!Andy, for example.

Will you be around in September?

Of course! I want to thirst and interact as I can. You can still tag me in things, send asks, etc. Some of my work days are going to tie me up and I may not be quick to respond, but that's normal. And if an ask inspires some writing, chances are it'll be answered after September.

I still plan to write these requests. It'll just be extended into the fall.

Starting Winter Arc

Winter Arc is from October to January and it is a way to be your very best and really show your potential.

What does this consist of?

Schedule - create a schedule that is very lenient but still productive. You do not want to be too lazy but also not too rigid. Give yourself some grace System - create a system about you. A system is a set of routines that you can switch onto depending the day. It is really a you thing and makes you work more efficiently, more smoothly, and productively. Mindset - Mindset is everything; motivation is temporary, mindset is forever. If you don't have discipline or a positive mindset you might not be able to work as hard as you should. There is days where you want to give up but you really got to push. You have to list more positives in life than negatives. In order to have a better mindset, you need to have a better self concept. In order to have a better self concept, you need self esteem. Lastly, in order to have a better self esteem, you need confidence. Confidence is key. Habits - You might have mindset, systems, and schedule but habits are what you might refer back to or fall back on on those slump days. That's not good- don't you think? We have to correct our habits and really evaluate ourselves. Winter arc is all about building good habits-- one I like is positive journaling or dumping my mind in a journal. I may have a lot of thoughts but I list both positive and negative things that my mind has. Also listening to your body and needing to stop. Cutting off people or taking a rest from socializing is totally fine-- especially if your mind needs it. We are all able to heal and some habits are meant to loss. Habits are built with our environment therefore we can correct them.

Self-actualization and self-achievement is great for us and especially students. Humans are meant to surpass their goals and reach to our full potential. We might be depressed or overwork but we are like machines. We were the original machines; we are an art that has to be maintain. Let's try to be our very best.

Sorry for not being as active as I used to be y'all, I haven't been on here because I've been pouring most of my focus into finishing a backlog of commissions and it has unfortunately left me with no energy to interact and socialize here lol

For the past week alone I've been working on this BEAST of a comm, and both me and my setup had a bit of a technical difficulty with just how BIG this specific commission was, in terms of details and quite literally file size too (this was originally a 5000x3000 piece, which caused a lot of black screens and me waiting for my PC to catch up everytime a 15-minute autosave was happening)

I feel like me suddenly being inactive was a necessary thing as well because as much as I don't want to admit it, my socials have been a bit... distracting... in this pursuit, and I am realizing a very concerning problem. And as such, I had to cut off and limit the amount of times I will be present here in an effort to exert self-control and instill discipline on myself.

I do not have anything new to show unfortunately, and may continue to NOT be able to show anything Digital Circus AU or fandom content at all, so all I can say is I'm sorry is this post is disappointing news because you followed me for that kinda thing.

Also I got a tooth infection(?) and a pink eye lol, how fun /s (don't worry though, I'm still fine and not really in a painful situation, just a minor inconvenience)

I feel this post is necessary to make, on the chance that the worst case scenario does occur.

The reason I'm stepping away is because I may be at risk for getting doxxed. I'm not going to talk about the specifics of the situation, nor will I mention anyone else involved but myself. The main goal here is to dissuade the doxxing and to make everyone aware of what to do IF it happens.

If I am doxxed, do not engage with whoever does it. Do not send them hate, do not harass them, do not even bother reacting to them. They want attention; do not give it to them. I also ask that you don't spread any private information of mine that is leaked, but this goes without saying. Keep your distance from the situation, if it occurs. It is no one's responsibility to inject themselves into the situation; I will handle it however I can on my own. This doxxing situation is not a risk to anyone but myself.

For the time being, I'm stepping away. Like I said, I will continue to work on paid post requests I've gotten, since they've been paid for, but other than that, I will not be interacting with anyone on Tumblr while I'm away and will keep my anon asks and DMs off. My fundraiser is paused for now, but I will reopen it again when this situation passes.

Blog update

Hi all! As you might have guessed by my slowdown in activity over the last few months, I've decided to go on a writing hiatus.

This has been driven by a multitude of things including low engagement on my fics, as well as overall writers block and lack of motivation.

Unfortunately, this means my active WIPs are on hold indefinitely (such as Before I Knew). Sorry to any readers out there!

In the meantime, I may pop on here occasionally, so if there's something you've written and would like me to read, please DM me or tag me, I'll make sure to engage. I am trying to focus on my writing in my personal life as I near my 31st birthday since I haven't progressed much with my goal I set myself for this year. We're also getting a puppy in the new year and trying to start a family.

All that to say -- thanks to all who have engaged with my work over the last 2+ years. Hoping to be back to writing at a normal cadence sometime soon! xx

I wanted to share the tattoo I did yesterday!!

I really enjoyed the process🥹🫶 My “normal” art is generally a lot more detailed and time-consuming than these fanarts…something I genuinely LOVE is just spending lots of time focusing on the small details & forgetting everything else.

I’m overall really happy with how this turned out, I’ve been practicing A LOT😳 but even so, pork skin isn’t the same as a living, breathing human. I think this design might have been a BIT too complicated to be my first one but oh well…I learned a lot and pushing myself off the deep end is always how I learn best😆😆😤🙏
