Hesiod, Theogony 404 ff : "Asteria of happy name, whom Perses once led to his great house to be called his dear wife. And she conceived and bare Hekate (Hecate)."
Another translation:
"And she bore auspicious Asteria, whom Perses once, Led to his house to be called his dear wife."
This is the one (1) passage we have of Hecate's parents and as short as it is it ruins me. Most passages in the Theogony have the relationships explained as "mingled in love", "mastered in love", "whom they bore" "came to the bed" and so on. Language used to explain who copulates with who. But this passage makes a point to show an image of romance: Perses leading Asteria to their home, that she was dear to him (the word dear is only used in the Theogony 4 times, and 3/4 of this is non-romantic but still important relationships).
We know about Asteria's fate, but what of Perses? I like to think he chose to side with his daughter in the Titanomachy, as Hecate, one revered by Zeus himself, is often referred to as "Perses' daughter" more so than as a child of Asteria. (Apollonius Rhodius, Argonautica 3. 1035 (trans. Rieu) (Greek epic C3rd B.C.) : "Hekate, Perses' only daughter (mounogenes)."Lycophron, Alexandra 1174 (trans. Mair) (Greek poet C3rd B.C.) : "The maiden daughter of Perseus, Brimo [Hekate] Trimorphos (the three-formed)." Homeric Hymn 2 to Demeter 19 (trans. Evelyn-White) (Greek epic C7th - 4th B.C.) : "Tender-hearted Hekate (Hecate), bright-coiffed, the daughter of Persaios (Persaeus).") Of course, this doesn't indicate any relationship with both of them (since Hecate's backstory is as hidden as it is) but it does make me believe Hecate likes her father enough to not mind being called his daughter. He also might be the only god who is a widower.

A informational Post on Hekate
This was done by Jude on Pagan and witches amino. Thank you for your contribution
As a devotee to Lady Hekate (Hecate - however one witch may spell it), I would like to share my research and experiences for those who may be getting signs from the goddess of witchcraft, ghosts, crossroads, poisonous plants and necromancy.
"...Hecate is a Goddess shrouded in mystery, for there is continuing debate about Her name, origin and character. There are few legends about Her, and no fixed genealogy. Some say that Hecate is the daughter of Erebus and Nyx, ageless Goddess of the night, while others believe that She is one of the Furies or the last surviving Titan except for Zeus..."
While I served her, she was a kind and loving goddess, but, at the same time... RUTHLESS. When working with Lady Hekate, you will be facing many challenges from deep shadow work, to patience and kindness. I grew up in a family who was harsh to me, and I knew nothing but how to defend myself and always kept a mean nature to those I didn't know. She taught me kindness and patience in my shadow work. She taught me my divination skills, every day, to this day, and taught me to be proud of my progress. So, I am proud. I do astounding tarot, oracle and pendulum readings thanks to my good lady, and I hope whoever decides to work with her, gets the same results, or even better ones.
"...HEKATE (Hecate) was the goddess of magic, witchcraft, the night, moon, ghosts and necromancy. She was the only child of the Titanes Perses and Asteria from whom she received her power over heaven, earth, and sea..."

Statue of Hekate as a Triple Goddess
"...With a torch in her hand, she accompanied Demeter in the search after Persephone; and when the latter was found, Hecate remained with her as her attendant and companion. She thus becomes a deity of the lower world; but this notion does not occur till the time of the Greek tragedians, though it is generally current among the later writers. She is described in this capacity as a mighty and formidable divinity, ruling over the souls of the departed ; she is the goddess of purifications and expiations, and is accompanied by Stygian dogs. (Orph. Lith. 48; Schol. ad Theocr l. c. ; Apollon. Rhod. iii. 1211; Lycoph. 1175; Horat. Sat. i. 8. 35; Virg. Aen. vi. 257.)..."
"...There is another very important feature which arose out of the notion of her being an infernal divinity, namely, she was regarded as a spectral being, who at night sent from the lower world all kinds of demons and terrible phantoms, who taught sorcery and witchcraft, who dwelt at places where two roads crossed each other, on tombs, and near the blood of murdered persons. She herself too wanders about with the souls of the dead, and her approach is announced by the whining and howling of dogs. (Apollon. Rhod. iii. 529, 861, iv. 829; Theocrit. l. c. ; Ov. Heroid. xii. 168, Met. xiv. 405; Stat. Theb. iv. 428 ; Virg. Aen. iv. 609; Orph. Lith. 45, 47; Eustath. ad Hom. p. 1197, 1887; Diod. iv. 45.)..."1
Greek Name
•Ἑκατη Ἑκατα
"...Her name means "worker from afar" from the Greek word hekatos. The masculine form of the name, Hekatos, was a common epithet of the god Apollon..."
"IT WAS A COMMON PRACTICE TO PLACE IMAGES OF HECATE AT CITY GATES & THE DOORWAYS OF PRIVATE HOMES AS SHE COULD WARD OFF EVIL SPIRITS."

Hekate's Wheel
"...Hekate’s Wheel, also known as the Stropholos of Hekate, is an ancient Greek symbol used to represent the Moon Goddess Hekate. The emblem is a Wicca symbol, particularly of the Hellenic Recon and Dianic Traditions. Here’s what it symbolized and why it continues to be an important symbol in the modern age..."

The Hecate Wheel
What is the Hecate’s Wheel?
"...Hecate was an Ancient Greek deity, the ruler of the sky, sea and earth. She is known for her Triple Goddess aspect in that she goes through the three phases of female life: Maiden, Mother, and Crone. She is a protective Goddess who provides blessings and prosperity to the family. Hecate was originally the guardian of the crossroads but evolved into the goddess of magic and sorcery. This history of Hecate reflects in the uses and symbolism of the wheel symbol...."
Tumblr media
Hekate Prayer
"...Typically, Hecate style wheels have a Y in the middle compared to the commonly depicted X. This difference is because she is associated with the intersection of three roads as compared to the typical four road crossroads. However, there are also other symbols depicted at the center, such as stars..."
Symbolism and Use of the Hecate’s Wheel
"The symbol has various meanings and uses, with renewed modern interest....
•The Wheel is a religious identifier of practitioners of Hellenic Recon and Dianic Traditions of Wicca.
•With the Hecate’s Wheel’s association with the three female phrases, each main arm represents a form – Mother, Maiden and Crone – which symbolize the three stages of a woman’s life. This makes it popular amongst feminist traditions.
•Wearing or using the symbol is said to invite Hecate’s blessings and prosperity into your life.
•The symbol shows connections to arcane knowledge, also known as the soul’s journey through life. The three primary flanges of the maze appear as if rotating and drawing the psyche forward.
•The three arms also represent earth, sea, and sky, of which Hecate holds dominion over.
•The Wheel represents the journey to knowledge towards center of the wheel. This is viewed as the flame of life and is a reminder that Hecate will help guide you through the path.
•The Wheel is also referred to as an iynx. It can be used to attract lovers, as a devotional wheel, or a divinatory device.
•When the strophalos is whirled over the heads of devotees, it creates a hum that the causes an altered state of awareness and drives predators away.
•There is a musical band called Hecate’s Wheel in Florida, better known as the Shining Wheel Pagan Chorus. They sing about the Goddess, love, femininity, and life..."

ASTERIA
In Greek mythology, Asteria was the Titan goddess of nocturnal oracles and falling stars. Asteria was the daughter of the Titans Coeus and Phoebe and sister of Leto. According to Hesiod, by the Titan Perses she had a daughter Hecate, goddess of witchcraft. Asteria was an inhabitant of Olympus, and like her sister Leto was beloved by Zeus. In order to escape the amorous advances of the god, who in the form of an eagle pursued her, she transformed herself into a quail and flung herself into the Aegean Sea. It was there that Asteria, metamorphosed into the island Asteria (the island which had fallen from heaven like a star) or the "quail island" Ortygia. This then became identified with the island of Delos, which was the only piece on earth to give refuge to the fugitive Leto when, pregnant with Zeus's children, she was pursued by vengeful Hera. According to Hyginus, Leto was borne by the north wind Boreas at the command of Zeus to the floating island, at the time when Python was pursuing her, and there clinging to an olive, she gave birth to Apollo and Artemis. X

Asteroids have a subtle effect. The more you evolve, the more you feel their effect as a focused expression of your natal chart. The asteroid Hekate (asteroid 100) is a minor astrological asteroid that determines the inner sense—women’s ways of knowing—and whether one can trust that; night; dreams; whether the mother acted as a protector; “crone” stages of life or positions; intuitive wisdom; Hekate is sometimes important at or in connection with childbirth, and can show what wisdom is gained at other life passages. The sacred day of Hekate is the 29th of every month. For astrological aspects, keep your aspects major: conjunction, square, opposition and your orbs right, within 1 degree. If Hekate touches Lilith, you must face your raw sexuality. If Hekate touches Nessus, you must face your potential to abuse. If Hekate touches Eros, you must face your erotic side. Hekate reminds us that our greatest fear…is not our smallness but our greatness.
It’s a very Cancerian asteroid because not only does it have moon symbolism, Hekate trusts her feelings entirely and gives no credence to logic. This asteroid shows where our deepest self trust lies and can be developed. It shows that we are often afraid to look at our “shadow self” (in this case, our power), because if we admit that we are not victims but creators of our lives, we have no excuses for taking the easy road any more…I believe this is also part of Jung’s urging to face the shadow. There is something here about the ability to control the forces of the nature – natural magic. The Dog Star Sirius (which incidentally, is a fixed star in the constellation of Cancer), is also connected to Hekate. As the brightest star in the sky, this association harks back to when Hekate was revered instead of reviled.
In Greek mythology, Hekate was the goddess of magic, witchcraft, the night, moon, ghosts and necromancy. She was the only child of the Titans Perses and Asteria, from whom she received her power over heaven, earth, and sea. Three metamorphosis myths describe the origins of her animal familiars: the black she-dog and the polecat (a mustelid house pet kept by the ancients to hunt vermin). The dog was the Trojan Queen Hekabe (Hecuba) who leapt into the sea after the fall of Troy and was transformed by the goddess. The polecat was either the witch Gale, turned as punishment for her incontinence, or Galinthias, midwife of Alkmene (Alcmena), who was transformed by the enraged goddess Eileithyia but adopted by the sympathetic Hekate. Hekate was usually depicted in Greek vase painting as a woman holding twin torches. Sometimes she was dressed in a knee-length maiden’s skirt and hunting boots, much like Artemis. In statuary, Hekate was often depicted in triple form as a goddess of crossroads (x). She showed Demeter the way through the Underworld to Persephone. And so it is, the asteroid shows the way through your shadow and other places unknown. Hekate represents our shadow side. She resides comfortably in the Underworld, but it’s more complex than a shadow side, which sounds like Lilith or Waldemath. Hekate was very levelheaded, practical and reliable, and not blind in the slightest. Her representing the crossroads is majorly important. It adds an ambiguous element to her nature - not unlike a 12th house vibe. And yet the crossroads is a place of enormous power reserve in witchcraft. So with this, the hypothesis is that when she’s prominent in a chart, the native will possess this same kind of energy - powerful and efficient when conscious, and dangerous, stuck in the crossroads; susceptible to evil; and easily led down the wrong path, when unaware.
The sign Hekate is in determines what what we need to do to discern our direction in life; the natal house Hekate occupies can show where we go to find those parts of ourselves that were lost.
The activation of this asteroid (and all asteroids in general) is best expressed in aspects, either natally, or in synastry with another person’s planet/asteroid. Aspects to Hekate in a general relationship are as follows:
Planets in square or opposition to Hekate tend to link the native up with people who use the native for guidance only to discard them after they get what they need, resulting in resentment and anger on the part of the Hekate person. In relationships, the Hekate native tends to be a loner and may prefer not to marry or have children, which in hard aspect, may make the planet person resentful and angry (only if children/marriage is the planet person’s goal).
One person’s Hekate conjunct a planet in another’s chart brings feelings of support and guidance, especially during difficult or dark times of their lives when they aren’t sure what to do or where to turn; however if that person also has a natal planet in hard aspect to Hekate, it conflicts with the other person’s chart and the result is a volatile, often complicated state of “knowing what’s best for the other” and resentment for the other being too smothering.
Hekate in opposition to planets or other asteroids can indicate a situation where opposites attract; the loved one functions as a pillar of strength or a disconnect can emerge in which the planet person winds up distrusting and even hating/dismissing the Hekate person. How good or bad the relationship is is up to the planet person.
Hard aspects in general can represent conflict between acting as one’s ideal self as a human being and acting as a powerful deity in their own right–and this internal conflict could be acted out with their partner.
The sign and house Hekate is found in can indicate where we go to for direction (when we don’t know which path to take) as well as which road makes the best choice, in life and relationships.
hekate in the signs
Hekate in Aries: is asking for notice and asking to speak to us. She is telling us she, not usually included in the more commonly known pantheon of goddesses, has been neglected for far too long.
Hekate in Taurus: it is a time to allow ourselves to experience the pleasures each of the five senses has to offer us, as we partake of the garden of life. Letting ourselves feel secure enough to make the right decision
Hekate in Gemini: tends to seek out and devour massive amounts of information about magic, witchcraft, astrology and other esoteric arts. Is also very likely to be a skilled communicator on such subjects. Our light is bright and we may attract may enemies because of this.
Hekate in Cancer: represents the madness that ensues when we try to ignore our instinctual and emotional responses. Needs to use more moon guidance in our discernment of the pathway, or perhaps we need to go emotionally on decisions and let the thought process be stilled, and use intuition more.
Hekate in Leo: represents the petulance and dissatisfaction that manifests when we try to ignore what makes us special. We need to trust our own gut instincts even if it seems egotistical to do so.
Hekate in Virgo: it’s a time to be helpful, and allow our criticism to be a guide for others who need assistance. We need to allow ourselves to make that intuitive leap in our daily lives, as well as making a daily effort to guide and protect those who need it.
Hekate in Libra: our direction is found in social activities, in the expression of our intellectual and artistic endeavours. We rely on the companionship of others (especially our significant other) to help guide us through life.
Hekate in Scorpio: there’s a need to go to our own deeper mind and to go deep down in the dark recesses of the soul; to go where no one else dares to go. That is the only way we can dig out the truth so that we can provide direction to others.
Hekate in Sagittarius: we need to go elsewhere to find our direction in life; perhaps our guidance is found in religion or philosophy. Other countries and cultures help provide a clearer direction for us in this placement.
Hekate in Capricorn: direction is found through hard work and dedication; by using our innate maturity and wisdom, we can help to guide others on their path.
Hekate in Aquarius: possesses an impartial, positive, and visionary-based magic to guide others to a better, clearer path. Through altruism and focusing on the good of the whole, our sense of direction is realized.
Hekate in Pisces: it’s initially unclear how we should go about getting direction in life, but ultimately, it has a lot to do with being compassionate to those who are down-and-out and living on a higher plane while using the gifts of the unconscious.
hekate in the houses
Hekate in the 1st house: you must learn to feel your truth in your physical body. Becoming sensitive enough to feel when something feels off in actual health of the body is the way you can know what is the right path to take. That knot in your stomach? That is Hekate telling you no. Those butterflies? Could be a yes.
Hekate in the 2nd house: is about building self esteem through listening to the self. Doing the thing you though you could not do will build the self trust you need. When lost, look to what feels good. This will help you know what is right. Pleasure is a big clue to how Hekate operates in your chart.
Hekate in the 3rd house: may send you oscillating between private and public face with your craft. But you do so enjoy sharing it with those who are onboard. Higher and higher you’ll soar- and no one can stop you. The golden eagle is the totem that come to mind.
Hekate in the 4th house: the father have a very strong influence on their destiny or they will seek counsel from him. is about finding the right path through patience and quiet. This is a very spiritual placement. Relying on females and maternal figures to impart the advice and care you need when you feel lost is key.
Hekate in the 5th house: shows how we can fall back on our sense of play for comfort. This placement reminds us not to take our trials too seriously and will show how we can lighten up or get trapped in a black cloud. How you can use your instincts to find your way is pointed to. Those who have the faith of a child often have a fifth house Hekate placement. Where we need to shed our naivete in order to see the true path before us is also shown.
Hekate in the 6th house: shows how we can achieve self trust in our daily life. Turning to the comfort of health practices for knowledge when we feel lost. Looking for wisdom in alternative medicine, finding solace in loving pets , learning to communicate with life forms other than human when you need assistance.
Hekate in the 7th house: ones spouse will dramatically change ones life path. It tells of needing to ask for help when the chips are down. Relying on the advice of others to help you find the way
Hekate in the 8th house: would likely accent her crone-guardian role at “the gates of life” (both birth and death including those births and deaths of the cycles of changes in behaviour). Hekate here might also be a kind of “psychological counselor” as her inner wisdom would tap into core issues for others; that “knowing” of Hekate would intuit the pain (and defensive games) of others, and have the resources for guiding/leading them through.
Hekate in the 9th house: shows how the wisdom of philosophy, the higher mind and education can show you the way. Meditation and study can be your guide when you don’t know where to turn.
Hekate in the 10th house: shows how we are known for our own emotional confidence or lack of it. Turning to the father or a trusted male figure is often where we can find the help and advice we seek when we don’t know where to turn. Learning to trust the voice of authority.
Hekate in the 11th house: is about turning to friends for advice and help when we feel lost. Friends can often be the voice of reason and comfort, and how we can use this support is shown.
Hekate in the 12th house: shows that you must turn to your own unconscious mind and trust the unseen when you feel lost or confused. Learning to trust that voice that lies at the far back of the mind is key. Not trusting ones own intuition is often the undoing of the person with Hekate in the 12th house. (x)

We have a new citizen in Mount Phoenix:
Hecate, the Goddess of Witchcraft and Ghosts,                                           whose origins stem from Ancient Greece.                                        She is now a professor at Phoenix University.
FC NAME/GROUP: Song Qian/Victoria Song, f(x) GOD NAME: Hecate PANTHEON: Greek   OCCUPATION: Professor of Witchcraft HEIGHT: 5’6 WEIGHT: (optional) DEFINING FEATURES: geometric crescent moon tattoos on the inside of both her palms
PERSONALITY: Hecate is an odd one to say the least, one would think the goddess of Witchcraft and Magic itself would have a more royal air to her, but she is as down to earth as one could get. She is a gifted teacher and with that she has a strict side of her. Hecate is willing to teach anyone, anyone who is willing to be taught that is. She is willing to help those in need however, she will put everything in her power to help. People can take shelter in her home anytime for any reason. There is a calming aura about her and it may just be because of how old and wise she is in the ways of the world. Hecate is the type of person to give…interesting advice. She’s all about “life hacks” and old wives’ tales to fix her and anyone else’s problems. Of course, that is if she isn’t fixing it with magic itself.
HISTORY: I. Stardust
She is born from Perses and Asteria, Titans from days of dust and old. She is born into the crossroads. Born into the paths of the sky, the ocean and the earth. She is born to lead, and lead she does. Mortals may find the wisp of the goddess on roads, guiding her humans to the paths they desire. She does not only guide the living, oh no. The dead seek passage to places only she knows. Hecate will guide her fallen humans to the realm of Hades. The sound of her presence leads the dogs to howl in the land of the dead.
II. Grass
Hecate discovers the roots of her magic. The way reality twists itself just for her. She learns the ways of potion making. May her follow godly siblings use her magic for good or evil is not up to her. She simply creates, she swirls the liquid in its glass and watches as it changes from purple to silver. Hecate holds magic in her palms, holds it between her fingers. Holds the way the earth spins on the tip of her fingers.
III. Brimstone
Finding a guest in the realm of Hades is unusual. The man normally kept to himself for all Hecate knew. This weeping princess of spring, Hecate takes it upon herself to keep her company. Woman to woman after all. She brings Persephone gifts that Hecate herself creates. Sow flowers in brimstone and let them grow.
IIII. Time
Hecate lives. She lives in the roads and the streets and with the decaying dead. She lives but she is not alive. Boredom does not suit goddesses well, and Hecate is not any different. She sits, in boredom for many years.
IV. Leaving
Hecate watches as her brethren leave for this place called Mount Phoenix. Hecate herself is wary to go. Wary to step foot on the earthly plane once more but when she does she remembers the feeling of being able to change anything. She decides she likes the fabric of the earthly plane. Likes the way it curls in her fingers once more.
POWERS: Hecate is a goddess of many things and thus has many things at her fingers. As a goddess of ghosts, she can speak and see ghosts as well as lead them down to Hades if they wish.  She is able to bless demi-gods, gods and mortals alike for good passages throughout their lives and journeys that they wish to take. As a goddess of magic, she can do many things. Hecate can enchant objects to things as she wishes. She can make your pots float for temporary amounts of time, make that your flower pot will never run out of water etc. Hecate dabbles in potions, she can gather things from the earthly realms to create potions for most anything. STRENGTHS: Wise, knowledgeable, protective, daring, witty. WEAKNESSES: strict, tends to get lost in her work, picky, opinionated.

HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE? Well he’s a God, but in diffrent verses where he’s human, it wuld have to case by case. for exsample, muse A is 16 and muse B is 28 is a no go for me, however is muse A is 26 and muse B is 39, I may ship it.
ARE YOU SELECTIVE WHEN SHIPPING?
Yes, I like to dedicate my time to my ships and like to build them up slowly. (I’m all for the slow burn) Also I won’t ship if there’s not chemistry so even if it’s a cannon ship in the myths, I won’t force anything because then that will make me panic and lose muse.
HOW FAR DO STEAMY MOMENTS HAVE TO GO BEFORE THEY’RE CONSIDERED NS.FW? Eh idk, i don’t really rp any nsfw, I think it’s when it gets past kissing, then I’d fade it to black and pick up after.
WHO ARE OTHER MUSES YOU SHIP YOUR MUSE WITH? Perses x Eris (although I don’t rp with Eris) Perses x Selene could be cute as well, but really it depends.
DOES ONE HAVE TO ASK TO SHIP WITH YOU? Yes, it’s just nice, If our characters get along, and there’s that spark then please just message me, I’m friendly I don’t bite. ^^
HOW OFTEN DO YOU LIKE TO SHIP? I’m not really sure, shhips are lovely but it’s not a question of how often it’s a question of chemestary.
ARE YOU SHIP OBSESSED OR SHIP MORE-OR-LESS? I have been known to make playlists, edits and the likes for my ships. ^^
ARE YOU MULTISHIP? yisss, but I won’t ship Perses with any other Deimos.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SHIP IN YOUR CURRENT FANDOM? Hector and Andromache give me life okay, that play hurts my soul. eos and astraeus, after the whole Ares and Aphrodite mess that Eos had to take, Astraeus is gouls. Hypnos and Pasithea, I used to rp Pasithea and I still get all the Pas feels. Poseidon and Amphirite, (Again another of my ships) Rhodes x Helios. (All the ships?)
FINALLY, HOW DOES ONE SHIP WITH YOU? Well by rping with Perses and idk just message me, I’m easy going enough and honestly there’s so many diffrent typs of ships out there we could, do all the plotting. ^^

Do I Want To Role Play With Them: Already am
An AU Idea For Our Muses: Ohh well that depends, I’m up for all the au, I kind of want to make a 1920s au for Perses as well, that could be fun. Or any au to be fair I love  all aus.
A Song For Our Muses:
Pallas =  Sleeping At Last - "Saturn"
Asteria =  Foxes - Devil Side (Acoustic) ,
Styxs, =  Into the Shadows  - Killer Tracks,
Leto =  Seafret - Be There
Do I Ship Our Muses?: Well of course I ship Perses x Asteria, but like I’ve said before I don’t ship unless there’s chemistry, I’m just looking forward to see what type of ship Asteria and Perses will be. I brotp Perses and Pallas tho ^^ and I’m just excited to see about Leto and Styxs as well.
What I Think About The Mun: Well we haven’t spoken a lot but you’ve made me feel really welcome in this fandom, I’m new to this so You’ve made me more confident. ^^
