Something that deeply upsets me.
I hate how Hades and Persephone have become the archetypal “healthy goth mythology couple who love each other” when
-Hades kidnapped Persephone (his niece) when she was a young girl and tricked her into eating pomegranate seeds to trap her with him forever, which was a very bad thing to do. (Also, anyone who says that there’s a secret feminist version of the myth is talking out their ass, there is no such thing in any of the recorded versions of the myth.)
-Loki and Sigyn were rIGHT FUCKING THERE-
Tumblr media
And for the record, I blame OSP for this.

🌤️ & ☔ !!
🌤️Share your favorite piece of dialogue from your WIP.
okkk so this is cheating b/c this is actually. From an old draft of If You Want Divinity that was way darker. But I might reconstitute it for a new thing b/c I do.... like it, it just didn't fit with the tone:
“Or is this all a… What do you call it? A leap of faith?” He grabs Porter by the hair, pulling his head back so that he’s forced to look him in the eye. “Was there ever a moment you doubted my devotion?” His other hand wraps nicely around Porter’s throat, resting pretty. “Or did you always know I would choose you?” A Message. I can feel everything. All your rage, your shame, your desire, your lovely desperation. Your envy Does that frighten you? To know you can never hide from me again? It must be some sort of miracle for him to actually intimidate Porter, but rage emboldens him. He’s kept two people under his skin so long that the company is comforting. You don’t have the guts. “You sure?” says Jace. A beat. Do it. His grip slackens.
I am gonna count Message as dialogue :')
☔Is there a fic concept you have that you'd like to just explain and share because you're not sure you'll ever write it? If so, what is it?
I have a couple that I'm not sure if I'm gonna finish or go for. A lot of these are kinda ambitious which i used to take on with gusto but i do have a problem with abandoning shit (and delayed gratification) so the idea of committing myself to a big piece is like. Maybe.... maybe.... At the same time, i am that kind of ambitious person, short things are not normally what i do. I have a few ideas that are not the most fleshed out:
I do genuinely really like the idea of doing a You've Got Mail rival academies AU but i also know that would probably take a tone of work and i'm like..... ughhhh. But i think they could do the hate to love thing. Its the Nora Ephron n Meg Ryan collab i think is the most fitting for the two of them (although if there was a when harry met sally (evil version) Take..... maybe)
Vaguely a timeloop au sounds fun. I LOOOOVE a timeloop. and have been wanting to write one for forever but i don't have a strong Vision on it right now. Don't know if its a timeloop to change what happened kind of timeloop or a timeloop to realize you can never go back kind of timeloop. There's also the Timeloop as Redemption angle that i think is fun, that's the groundhog day thing that's the happy death day thing and i think there's precedent of it being like. a Chronomancy thing. Aguefort subject these bitches to a timeloop so you can put them back on your payroll im begging you
Althought time loop purgatory also goes hand in hand with my joke that Porter and Jace should be subjected to a Bad Place Elmville as hell punishment. A vaguely inspired Good Place AU would be really funny i think. Again, it's too formless for me to know what to do with it. I don't actually think it should be that they think they're in The Good Place, i think the trick should be they're convinced ankarna gave them a second shot at life so now they life in elmville only everything is shifted slightly to the left bc its a pocket hell dimension meant to torture them. Like Chidi and Eleanor, oops they fell in love. Again. This is formless.
ALSO kinda goes hand in hand with my joke abt Ankarnatown i made a while back like Jace fetching Porter from hell??? no notes. But like. damn i gotta make it myself?? That sucks
I honestly sincerely might write some zara/clones or lucilla/clones stuff. That ones purely and indulgence. Purely just for me. I wanted to include a small zara/jace throughline or a lucilla/j2 implication in Almost but it just like. Did not have the air for that i just felt like it didn't fit for the tone it just kinda was detracting (as much as zarajace making porter jealouse wouldve been fun) and just in there for me b/c i like Persephades Orphydice
Again this is formless. All i'm gonna say is i drew a gamechanger au. and now i think the idea of Aguefort subjecting his staff to gameshows for personal enrichment is so funny. Aguefort heaven is porter hell its a very efficient system

Some Persephades fluff
“I love the way he holds himself. The gentleness he gives to the poor souls who were driven down to his home. He treats them like guests, humble and modest. How could anyone fear such a gentle man, I could never know.. but, some days, I’m reminded of his true power. Why the mortals fear the speak his name. The anger he felt toward anyone who dared try to pose a threat to me. While he knew I was strong and capable, he simply just wished to make sure that I would live my life leisurely and away from any minor inconveniences. How I love this man. How I love his gentle heart. How I love the way he holds me at night, while the raging storms of winter could reach their way to the Underworld, and instead of shivering and cowering, we allow the cold to let ourselves get closer to one another, heat of our own love and passion warming our two souls, forever bonded. How I love pomegranate..”
“Her poise, her grace, her beautiful, golden hair. Her smile. The gentle way she holds me. My wife truly is outmatched amongst any other goddess. If Eris had thrown the golden apple to me, I simply would’ve chosen none of the three women and presented the beauty of the golden apple to my beloved Persephone. She is terrifying to mortals, but also so kind to the ones who she pities, the lost souls who simply need comfort. But she is so protective of our home, sending ghosts to torment anyone who dare try to disrupt the peaceful order we keep down here in the Underworld. She is powerful and graceful, truly the most perfect example of the idea of perfection. Her beauty knows no bounds. Even as she rests, her beauty could shatter the hearts of men as they envy me for having the greatest woman lie in my bed.. How I hate the warm weather that disrupts our time together..”

So, I actually read through the original homeric hymn (or a translation of it at least) and it is very clear that Persephone was not okay with the kidnapping at all.
You see this first when Demeter is going around trying to collect info on what happened: everybody describes that Persephone was “seized” and then let out a piercing scream. Not a great first date.
The nail in the coffin is when Persephone comes back to Demeter and she quite literally says that she was taken against her will/without her consent. I was actually very surprised that the hymn actually made Persephone say her thoughts on the matter in such plain words, especially considering that the 500 lines before that is Demeter’s long and ardueus quest to find a child and burn a child and then build a vacation home to sulk (and also here’s the entire genealogy of this one dude she met along the way).
Still, I hate raining on people’s parade, so go wild. We can speculate about intentions when it comes to stories like this because they’re about allegorical people, not real people. Actually, considering the circumstances, it’s actually quite sad that Persephades is the most functional couple in the Pantheon. They really should’ve tried getting a God of couple’s therapy.
My personal reading of the Hades and Persephone myth is that it’s an arranged marriage that turned out like… fine. Very messy start. Unclear what Persephone thought about the whole thing. Most stories focus more on her parents. But like. They don’t seem to have a lot of drama going on. Hades and Persephone seem relatively protective of each other and as a duo are pretty scary. They seem like an average arranged marriage couple. They’re stuck with each other so they’ve made the decision to make it work. And for the most part they do.

We should stop romanticising the myth of Hades and Persephone, actually.
I keep seeing things like “in oldddd versions of the myths, Persephone was the queen of the underworld” and uh??? What? No she wasn’t. if you want a badass queen who rules the underworld you should head on over to Norse mythology and check out Hel, who quite literally rules. Don’t spread fake stories to try and make this more feminist.
I get that the myth would be a lot nicer if Persephone had more agency but she didn’t. She got kidnapped by her creepy uncle and held hostage in a kingdom she hated away from her family to be his bride. It sucks. It isn’t romantic. It shouldn’t be seen as an ideal love story.
Her mother, her closest family, has no idea where she is. Zeus basically hands her over to keep Hades quiet.
Yes, it is based off of wedding traditions in Ancient Greece but that argument as a defence doesn’t make any sense to me as the women had very little agency in real life. Part of the reason the Greeks were so accepting of gayness was because they thought women were inferior (and also that knowledge was passed through sperm, but that’s a different story). Ancient Greek culture was seriously fucked up.
And it isn’t really right to ignore that. Yes, it may be fun to write posts about uwu flower princess and her grumpy husband who loves her very much, but that isn’t what happened in the myths and we shouldn’t ignore historical issues and the struggles women faced in the ancient world just because it isn’t cute.
TL;DR stop romanticising ancient stalkers, dammit! If you want a cute ancient couple, try Ariadne and Dionysus.

HADESTOWN + TOXICITY
I would first like to clarify that the following post is not meant to be a callout for anyone. It is just meant to be my thoughts and observations. Also the content is triggering, I’ve tagged it but please do not read if certain subjects make you uncomfortable.
I feel like as a fandom, we tend to romanticise the relationship between Hades and Persephone. It’s fair given that at the end of the musical the two come back together and hades shows the capacity to change for the better, but I think we don’t acknowledge enough how damaging and toxic their relationship was, apart from causing the Seasons to decay.
Another troubling thing is that we only see Persephone’s side of things, largely. How hades treats her, and so it looks like he takes most of the blame. I am sure in her time that Persephone has done some pretty inexcusable shit- name calling for one, it’s just now shown in the musical so I cannot adequately discuss it. This is not a hades-hate post; I acknowledge they both contributed to the toxicity of their relationship, but it is more difficult to redress Persephone. If anyone has any points about that please add them below.
To begin with, Hades’ view of Persephone is kind of fucked up. How he sings about her in Chant II is obviously very derogatory, demeaning and downright cruel. He clearly doesn’t see her as an equal, and verges on being quite chauvinistic. I wouldn’t go as far as to call it verbal abuse but to view the person you love as an object, a possession hardly bodes well for a relationship/marriage. There’s nothing “cute” or “loving” about that and those lyrics have always troubled me, not to mention she’s right there? Hearing her husband talk about her like that, not just infront of Orpheus but infront of just subordinates, his workers? Can you imagine what goes on behind closed doors?
I think we also rarely acknowledge Hades’ infidelity (Flowers, Hey Little Songbird). Anais, bless her heart, makes it quite ambiguous but there are several allusions to the fact that the contract between Hades and Eurydice was in fact a sexual one, or at least had sexual undertones. Obviously cheating is never okay. Not to mention Eurydice was taken advantage of. There’s reason to believe that Hades deliberately picked this particular girl because he knew it would hurt Persephone.
There are just a lot of major issues in their relationship that make it unhealthy and I want to reiterate again that this is not mean to villianise Hades. Persephone’s drinking is a huge problem, and she comes across as a mean drunk- she also derides him in Way Down Hadestown. Whilst I see the resolution of Hadestown as fitting - they have to get back together for the sake of the Seasons, for continuity and they also separate for something like six months, to clear their heads, it doesn’t sit right with me that it allows everyone to overlook the major flaws in their relationship, and to play down these aspects. Am I saying they are incompatible? No. Am I saying they shouldn’t have gotten back together? No, well. Maybe. Like I said it works for Hadestown, and it’s an uplifting message but it’s also ambiguous. We don’t know what happens after six months. My main point is that people (myself included) tend to excuse the really problematic facets of Persephone/hades because of this conclusion and it just has been bothering me for a Long time, that it all just goes unsaid. I will continue to write Persephades but I hope moving forward I just want to be able to touch on the uglier aspects of their relationship, and to see that we’re all somewhat in agreement, that we don’t gloss over these things anymore.

Everyone and their mom on this site is aware of Persephone and Hades' age-gap. Their boss/employee dynamic, the sheltered heroine's inexperience in life, and the other power imbalances present between them. Yeah, yeah. We know, LO-critical people. The main couple seems yikesy at first glance.
Look, when people romanticize Persephone and Hades' relationship, they're not picturing the toxic/abusive relationships from real life where younger women get taken advantage of by older, more powerful men. That's a fantasy-killer, actually. A huge turn-off.
Fans are into Persephone and Hades' relationship as told by Rachel Smythe: the cute, romantic fantasy centered around a powerful god who isn't a predatory creep because he truly loves Persephone, no strings attached. He does not want to control the young goddess, and cares about her well being. If you can't see that, you're probably mistaking Hades for Apollo.
Additionally, Persephades is a good relationship. For example: Remember how Hades listened to Persophone when she begged him not to go after Apollo? He calmed down rather than Anakin-Skywalker-ing over her wishes. Personally, I found this refreshing.

He is consistent.
The antis that attack LO's Persephone/Hades criticize this pairing as if it's "equivalent to" Joss Wheadon's disgusting relationships with women. No, they're not the same whatsoever. One is a romantic fantasy that was not written as an abuse story, while the other is reality.
Fantasy =/= Real Life
It would be nice if antis could stop confusing the two in their metas. Like, can they hate the pairing accurately at least?

ok in the notes I mentioned I might reblog this later for specifically why I tagged this with Persephades later, so let's go:
Go watch this video by Overly Sarcastic Productions for more details, but the video also talks more in-depth about Persephone and Hades. It mostly focuses on their origins in pre-Classical Greece, like where they came from and how their mythos progressed throughout time (it's all very fascinating), and towards the end, with all that in mind, OSP takes a look at the infamous Abduction of Persephone myth, the historical context, and (most importantly to my discussion here), where the fake "original myth" of Persephone wandering down to the underworld and willingly marrying Hades, but she has to deal with her overbearing mother, so she eats Pomrgratnite seeds to be able to stay with her husband at least for part of the year. Insert Power Couple of the Underworld here (which they are regardless of origin myth). Insert "they wanted to erase women's agency" here, etc. etc.
I have nothing against that retelling, but just acknowledge that that's what it is- a retelling. There are no classical origins for this version, and while I thought it originated on Tumblr (because lets' face it this website doesn't have a good history with "real myths", see Mesperyian the "most beloved daughter of hades" and the idea that women in ancient Greece used Medusa's head as protection.), the OSP video actually traces it to 1978, where a woman named Charlene Spretnak wrote the book "Lost Goddesses of Early Greece: A Collection of Pre-Hellenic Myths", but didn't cite any "pre-hellenic sources" and just wanted a clean collection of myths for her daughter to read. tbh I kinda want to read the book regardless of its real sources, just to see what she changes.
Look, I get why this version of the myth is popular. Persephone and Hades are what I'd consider one of those weird internet OTPs, since everyone here seems to ship it and support the couple, especially on Tumblr. Especially when the alternatives are gods like Zeus and Hera, Apollo and his hundreds of failed lovers, and Aphrodite and her many affairs, especially with Ares, and it happening so often people sometimes forget she's married to Hephaestus. Persephone and Hades just work. They're "opposites attract". Miss Flower Sunshine and Mr. Grumpy Goth. They have a lot of appealing traits. So, finding out this "original myth" version exists (even without sources but when has that ever stopped the internet lol) was great! Fantastic! The couple is now completely unproblematic. No more icky kidnapping. Just Underworld Power Couple Vibes from here on out.
Again, I like the version. It gives Persephone agency in a myth where she's otherwise interchangeable with a favorite book or another object, and it's great and perfect for modern retellings. What I don't like are people seeing this and thinking "the patriarchy hid this from us" or whatever. No, the ancient world was just sexist. Surprise, surprise. I'm not shitting on anyone who uses this story, especially in a modern setting where kidnapping someone you like is a HUGE no-no, I'm just a little annoyed at people who use it like it's the real story and correct people who don't acknowledge it. "um, actually in the original myth Persephone WANTED to be there" NO. Just, no. There are no sources. No nothing. Even without this version, Persephone and Hades still have the best marriage in greek myth. No cheating, no drama. They just chill in the underworld. Or in the overworld, if you're Persephone during the spring and summer months.
rant over, thanks for reading if ya did. go check out the video, linked above, I really enjoy Red and Blue's videos they put a lot of research into their videos and they are always fun to watch.
The phrase "original myth" is a term used by people interested in and talking about mythology to describe and give credit to the earliest known way a myth was told, however the term itself is actually misleading. It perpetuates the idea that there was one, true, and "original" story when that is not the case. Even if scholars, archeologists, and historians trace back characters and stories to the earliest records possible, and assuming that the earliest records we can translate and use are, in fact, the earliest written records on that subject and translated 100% correctly, it erases and ignores the oral traditions that the written records pulled from. Oral traditions themselves are ancient, and were ancient when recorded for the first time all those years ago, so it makes no sense to make claims like "the 'original myth' says X, Y, and Z, so saying anything other than that is factually incorrect". It also gives the impression that one person created the story, passed it along, and people were playing a game of telephone until people wrote them down. It gives the impression that saying anything other than what this "one person" created is wrong and should be ignored in favor of the "original" story. There is no original author for most myths. Myths are influenced and shaped by everything around it, like the culture's customs or past histories of natural disasters attributed to angry dieties. Because there is no author, there is no "original myth", since it's been a collaborative effort since the beginning. Myths had been solidified by the time they were written down, but even then details often differ slightly.

What the frack w. Lore Olympus?
So apparently Lore Olympus is the Hazbin Hotel of webcomics with some people dying by it’s cause and gushing over it obsessively and some people hating it with a burning passion like what’s going on?
I mean - I certainly have criticisms I could dish out.
I’m a PersepHades-shipper of a sterner taste: I like showing they aren’t a PERFECT couple and I prefer no Greek God being made into the defacto good guy or the defacto bad guy. And if there is a twist where a god is unrealistically cruel I want it explained in universe (I promise I won’t get into gushing about Hadestown, k? We can’t all be Hadestown...)
I originally liked Lore Olympus’ Hades a lot but now I think they’re making him too much of a pwecious cinnamon roll. Persephone has gradually become more of my fav on account of her being more interesting and not a walking moe-fantasy.
It’s Apollo I’m not down with....
Minthe you can muck up all you want because she has 0 personality in the og mythology but Apollo is made into stalkeryrapistmccreepershitter because...ugh...well we needed SOMEONE to be it and I guess Apollo is just there. So okay how come we can’t delve into how psychologically damning and rapey Zeus and Poseidon are (Poseidon straight up RAPED PERSEPHONE’S MOM)? How come ARES is a quirky-jerky and not an ax -crazy lunatic all the other gods hate? WHY DO WE EVEN NEED A DEFINITIVE BAD GUY? Why are we making said bad guy A RAPIST?!?!?! Can’t Apollo just be a jerk ass romantic rival and NOT a rapist because um holy shit that’s going from 0 to 30 on the “need character to make romantic tension-a thing” scale.
One reason so many people like Hades is because western media has made him a villain, when of course, the og mythology wasn’t like that: When you’re a brainy prepubescent nerd learning that the blue guy from Hercules just wanted to be loved and how he mostly keeps to himself where it’s HIS BROTHERS who are the rapey jerks who cheat on their kidnapped wives - you just go “Baaaaaaawww” and make all this sappy HadesxPersephone fan art. I’ve been there. I know it.
And I guess that’s my problem...I don’t like one god being singled out and being made into the bad guy (not just a bad guy, a rapist) because we need a bad guy. I think I’d honestly just have preferred Apollo be a cliche romantic rival.
I DID think it was effective early on with Apollo thinking he and Persephone were a thing and not understanding what he did or how she felt. BUT THEN they dialed it up to 11 with him and ruined what I thought was a very mature and much needed take on the subject.
Still I give LO credit where credit is due:
- I love it’s art style
- I don’t mind it being an office drama/romantic comedy. Not the first or last time ppl have done that. I prefer these kind of stories avoid making things petty or amping up the drama and for the most part LO joshes that.
- The writers know their Greek mythology and are purposefully making these calls to said characters. This is why stuff like Apollo and Hades piss me off, where the extra bits like Persephone’s name and Helios’ bit are pretty cool.
- FROM PERSEPHONE’S PERSPECTIVE (again, best character) the sexual-abuse and nature of relationships is very well written and you can’t not feel for her. It’s a realistic take for survivors abuse but tbh feels more like what an edgy fan fic writer’s idea of a rapist is rather than a more realistic take like the rest of the comic is with it’s characters. Point being: if it isn’t it bad taste it CLASHES too much with the tone of the rest of the comic.
I like how LO is the antithesis of Fifty Shades of Grey by basically being about how Hades and Persephone don’t want a squicky-authority-subbordinate relationship. Nice to address he feels weird being into a much younger woman which so few stories like this do - if not fetishize it.
It is nice seeing Hera get some better representation. Even when ppl show Zeus’ bad side they tend to make Hera JUST a harpy wife when ugh god the feminist discussions you could have about her ~ *swoon*
Hades’ hair is reminding me of James from Pokemon.
Okay so I didn’t even know Apollo was bi. Sorry bi folk. Other than that though I’m really not on board calling this comic SO HOMOPHOBIC. Like the worst thing about it is there’s hardly any gay representation at all. When I think “well intentioned by unfortunately stereotyping” I again think Hazbin or Satellite City. I don’t think Lore Olympus. But hey you are talkin to an...aro(?) person here. Maybe I’m not the best judge.
---
Blah blah blah Problematic thing is problematic which is fine except when people make excuses for it blahblah blah you’ve all heard this before kiddies.
FTR: I still like Lore Olympus. It’s a critique. That’s all.

Best Consensual Smut Work In Progress
Love Brings You Home by @insideimfeelinpurrdy
The ceremony is surreal, like an out of body experience. She walks up a makeshift aisle, the crowd parting to watch her, to take her measure. She’s aware a priest of some sort says words that hush the crowd, but she can’t understand them. She throws a glance over her shoulder, where her mother is bleary eyed but stone faced. She shakes her head almost imperceptibly but she doesn’t interrupt or object. She knows their survival hinges on this.
She turns back to the priest, barely glancing at the man next to her, but his presence feels overwhelming. His breathing is even, he doesn’t fidget like she suddenly realises she is. He smells a bit spicy, a little heavy. Foreign. She nearly jumps when he shifts on his feet and brushes against her arm, the heat of him searing her skin.
Her eyes are firmly fixed ahead as the priest starts proceedings, as he chants prayers that she can’t decipher. She can only pick out certain words, and they all make her blood still in her veins. Death, fight, blood. If there is a word for love in trigedasleng she doesn't know it.

“So, I don’t know how to ask this,” he whispered, and Clarke clenched her eyes shut. “It’s not my business, and it’s not like you and I are even friends.”
He wouldn’t have noticed if he hadn’t overheard Clarke talking to Marcus about Finn. Most people noticed something was off about Clarke and Finn, but it always got attributed to Clarke being the bitch that broke Finn’s heart. All anyone saw was that Finn still loved Clarke and was doing whatever it took to win her back, but she wouldn’t give him the time of day. And that would have been Bellamy’s assumption if he hadn’t overheard a brief glimmer of the truth.

The first thing he notices is that she’s fucking beautiful. He watches her carefully close the door behind her, then check the mirror briefly to fix her soft blonde hair and adjust herself in her dress. She shakes her arms out, takes a deep breath and blows it out. She clearly doesn’t realize he can see her, and he finds her nervousness a little endearing.
He clears his throat, because he figures the kind thing to do is make his presence known before she does anything embarrassing. Her gaze snaps to his and she stops dead in her tracks. Her eyes are wide, jaw a little slackened. She looks… familiar but he can’t quite put his finger on why.
Her mouth opens and closes a few times while she searches for something to say, so he just puts a hand up and tells her gently, “Just relax, will you?”
She huffs, “Bellamy?”

She’d say her words were manipulative and selfish if she didn’t know that this was exactly what Bellamy wanted. “Don’t you think there should be some cosmic rule,” Clarke says, leaning back against the counter as well and contemplating her glass. “That when you suffer through a bad date, the world owes you a blow job?”
Bellamy chokes on his wine, and Clarke helpfully pats him on the back as he splutters. “Jesus, Clarke. Warn a guy.”
“What? I’m trying to commiserate with you,” Clarke laughs. “Wouldn’t that be the ultimate?”
“Well, sure,” Bellamy says, a little flustered. “Cosmically owed orgasms sound like a pretty good deal to me. There’s just the small catch that most bad dates don’t lead to sex.”

Persephone talks about her mom a bit in the next chapter of AM au so I’ve been thinking about AM au Persephades’ origin story and...
Demeter wanted Persephone to be a soror and live a life of chastity
Persephone was not down for that but wasn’t serious about anyone at that point so for a while she was basically just like “ugh whatever mom”
Demeter sent Persephone off to Venadica to study and become a priestess
Persephone did not want to take a vow of chastity but she did like being in Venadica because she was free from her mother and got to be more independent
She probably had a couple of flings in Venadica
I can imagine her flirting with the other puella as a teenager
Oh btw Persephone is very poly and very bi
Anyway one day crown prince Hades visited Venadica and dayum he was handsome (and rich) and Persephone was like “...I’d tap that”
Persephone flirted with Hades and discovered that OH NO he’s not just cute, he’s also a shy soft adorable dork!
They fell head over heels in love
Then Persephone was like “btw my mom’s a duchess which makes me totally eligible to marry you so...we should get hitched or something”
Hades was down
The entire Pluton court was down
Everyone was down
Except Demeter
(That bitch)
Persephone went home to see her mom and was like “so I met this cute guy and he’s rich and also going to be the king of Pluto and now we’re in love so can you agree to endorse our engagement”
And Demeter was PISSED
“WTF I SENT YOU OFF TO BECOME A NUN AND NOW YOU COME BACK AND TELL ME THIS?!?”
“Did miss the part where I said he’s rich and going to be a king—“
“THIS FILTHY NO GOOD SON OF A BITCH HAS CORRUPTED MY DAUGHTER—“
Demeter refused to endorse the engagement, which was a problem because they needed her cooperation to make the marriage legitimate
So basically Persephone said Hades got her pregnant and then Demeter was forced to agree to the wedding to preserve her daughter’s dignity
On the downside this made her hate Hades even more because she thought he knocked up her daughter
She was so mad when she found out that Persephone lied about being pregnant
