Discover Heaven Like Never Before with The Holy Gosh Darn
Tumblr media
The Holy Gosh Darn a narrative cartoon adventure game has you help a foul-mouthed angel on Steam Deck and Linux via Windows PC. All this chaos and fun comes straight from the brilliant minds at Perfectly Paranormal. Along with its 99% Very Positive reviews on Steam. Hold onto your halos, folks, because The Holy Gosh Darn is here to shake up Heaven as you know it. Yogscast Games and Perfectly Paranormal just released a sparkly new trailer for this time travelling, apocalyptic action adventure game. So, it’s got us questioning everything we thought we knew about the afterlife. Spoiler: Heaven’s not all clouds and harps — it’s full of chaos, timey-wimey antics, and way too many dogs (but sadly, none you can pet). AND it's Steam Deck Verified and playable on Linux via Proton. At its core, The Holy Gosh Darn is a wild narrative cartoon adventure that puts time travel front and center. Armed with a golden stopwatch, you’ll jump to any point in the day to uncover the secrets of an artifact crafted by God himself. Sound epic? It is. But it’s also hilariously chaotic, with a cast of quirky characters and locations that shift depending on where — and when — you are. Oh, and you’re not just saving some random town or world. You’re due to save Heaven itself. Why? Because phantoms are trying to ruin it, and you live there. Kind of personal, right?

This title isn’t just about travelling through time; it’s about doing it with style. Think Metroidvania exploration mixed with brain-teasing puzzles, some truly ridiculous humor, and over the top action. It’s a perfect blend of fun and frantic gameplay. You’ll get to sprint, dash, and jump through the afterlife while piecing together clues and racing against the clock. Just don’t think too hard about why time travel makes you puke — it’s all part of the charm. And the humor? Holy Gosh Darn is top-notch. Expect to laugh your way through questions like why angels swear so much. Also why is there a dedicated “Shut Up” button that lets you skip dialogue when you’re in a hurry. (Yes, really. Sometimes you just gotta focus on saving Heaven!) Along the way, you’ll meet 23 Heavenly Elders who deserve a good roasting and discover thousands of dogs. Exactly 4,250 of them. If you’re into titles like Manual Samuel or Helheim Hassle, you’re in luck. This one’s part of the same wacky universe, but you don’t need to play them in order to dive into the fun. New to time-travel? No problem — The Holy Gosh Darn is designed for everyone, even if time travel isn’t your thing. Ready to save the afterlife? You can play The Holy Gosh Darn on Steam Deck, Linux, with Windows via Proton. Which you can find for $13.02 USD / £10.85 / 12,74€ with the 33% discount on Steam. Due to step into Cassiel’s angelic shoes, grab that golden stopwatch, and get ready for an unforgettable narrative cartoon adventure. It’s Heaven — but not as you know it!

"I think..."
Tumblr media
"...you have followed me..."
Tumblr media
"...far enough."
Incident Report: Witness came to my office in Wailer custody. He (elezen, 45, Hyrstmill) was quite shaken and claimed to have been followed on through the forest. He described a hyuran woman (late twenties to mid thirties, long, ashen hair and skin, dirty gray tunic; no eye color given—he reported that her eyes were naught but whites) staring at him from behind a tree on the roadside, smiling unnaturally. As he approached the tree where the woman hid, she ran around it and, per his claim, disappeared. He had little cause for concern until she saw the same woman hiding behind another tree just a few hundred yalms up the road. Witness claims not to have seen the woman pass him on the roadside, nor did he see any usual movement in the trees. He called out, but she deigned to neither respond nor to move. He carried on down the road, keeping an eye upon the woman as he passed, then turned to check the road ahead when she was out of sight once again. He then saw her a third time, some fifteen yalms ahead, now peeking from behind Galvanth's Spire. Witness then began to run from the authorities, which prompted them to give chase and arrest him for suspicious behavior. Wailers report seeing no woman approach and new footsteps could be found.
Investigator's note: Woman loosely fits the description of a missing person report filed last autumn that the Wailers were charged with investigating. They neither found the woman nor recovered remains (attributed to wildlife; she disappeared during the peak of annual funguar activity). I'll need to confirm her identity, which means I'll have to get close, and that presents a problem if she slips away whenever someone draws near. I have a hunch she is simply a pawn for a much larger threat that will only reveal itself once a potential victim follows her deeper into the wood. Wonderful. I leave in the morning.

The moment when Stede says the curse is real because the crew experiences it as real? That's literally how qualitative studies describe paranormal phenomena. It doesn't matter whether or not it's "real" in the natural scientific way, it's real in their reality and you gotta deal with it accordingly. It's so anachronistic to have Stede talk that way, this kind of research has existed for less than 50 years, ever since the discursive turn in social sciences. Loved it.

Another collection of old and unfinished doodles from my old drawing tablet, this time stuff related to Lilian.
Kinda like with the Spice Trader sketchdump I did a while back, most of these are either really rough concept sketches or mostly finished stuff that didn't really feel substantial enough to post on their own.
I probably won't revisit them, but I still feel like they're decent enough to share.

Perfectly Wicked by Lindsay Lovise
Tumblr media
While Perfectly Wicked is chock-full of excellent romance tropes with vibes to boot, ultimately, it is neither perfect nor wicked.
The Good: The writing itself is zippy and unobtrusive. Lovise doesn't get in her own story's way, but lets it naturally flow. I also appreciated the "big reveal that will break them up" was maturely handled and never felt forced or kitschy. The dialogue, too, was natural and FELT like things real people would say. I also loved that while it's a witchy/paranormal romance book, it wasn't autumn-centric. It made a nice change of pace from the usual deluge of October-based paranormal romances of late. I appreciated that all three sisters had distinct characters and didn't muddle into each other and that both the MMC and FMC were competent adults who read like competent adults.
The Works in Progress: The worldbuilding was the biggest letdown for me. While I don't expect paranormal romances to be heavy on the worldbuilding (they're romances first, fantasy second), I do expect that the world makes sense. And while the paranormal side of it does make sense, Lovise spends so long holding ALL the cards to her chest that the "big reveal" lacked any punch; it's a mistake that I've seen plenty of debut authors make, so I'm not surprised and it doesn't sink the rest of the book, but it defintiely doesn't have the "oh shit" kind of bang I think she's hoping for. That leads me to the pacing--while I appreciate that before the "big sex" Connor and Holly are completely honest with each other (I raise a glass to the deft thematic work there, Lovise!), the first half of the book has so little explanation as to the "witchy" side of things that it drags on and on until the "big reveal" and then so much is packed into the second half that it felt almost like another book. Lastly, the secondary characters need some work. Aside from the Celeste family and Connor, the rest of the cast is so thinly sketched that I legitimately had a hard time remembering who was who (was Amy the bad guy or Stacy? Kind of both? Neither?) and the "evil ex boyfriend" is so over the top that had to roll my eyes a little.
I look forward to more from Lovise. Debut novels are not easy and are certainly never going to be perfect, but she gets so much right that I will happily await her next book, as I assume it'll pick up where this one leaves off, thanks to some conveniently dangling plot threads.
Thank you to NetGalley and Alcove Press for the ebook ARC. All opinions are mine alone.

Alright, World. I'm going to do it. I never thought I would do it but... here I am doing it.
I am going to get metaphorically butt ass naked.
I love nothing more than to appear picture perfect to the world and you'll probably never catch me slip in public. I hold my head high with confidence, dress nice, use my please and thank you's, and am the first one to ask about your life and how you are doing but as soon as the conversation turns over to me you won't get much more than "I'm doing great." or "I'm so tired but God is so good even through the valleys." But you definitely won't hear a thing or get a glimpse about what those valleys look.
You see, I've learned that you can never let anyone get too, too close... That's because as soon as I let off a little too much I am met with rejection and judgment. And honestly that's okay. I'll leave the comfortable stories for the people that want to stay comfortable. But I do have a lot to say and a story to tell. I would very much like to invite anyone who doesn't mind the mess, raw imperfections, awful sense of humor, into my wild story, life and mind.
So... a bit of a warning and so that you get more of an understanding of what I am trying to say: My grammar is going to suck (in case you haven't already noticed), my mind will spaz, I WILL digress, I'm a bit insane (only a bit), and I am not holding back any of this mess.
WELCOME.
I am trying to recall the thoughts I was having earlier today that brought me here in the first place. Let's see... I came home from the big city where I dropped the kids off at their dad's house for the day and made the decision to come home to my quiet little bungalow in a little rural neighborhood far outside the city. The plan was to sleep the rest of the day. Which of course didn't happen. I got home, plopped on the bed, snuggled my blanket and got to thinking about my new boyfriend if you know what I'm saying... after my fun a sunk deep into the quiet of my empty home, enjoying the misty and gloomy day when my mind started to wander into my past as well as recalling the conversation I had the night before.
What was that about...? Oh, yea. Past psychical and psychological abuse, drug addiction, crazy ex's, demons and the time I took 5 grams of magic mushrooms, met the Lord and my entire life flipped upside down.
Okay, that's a good start to a couple of different stories that I will have to leave for future posts.
Earlier when these thoughts first occurred, I thought to myself "I need to get myself some coffee then head to the library. There's so much that needs to be aired out and stories to tell." I had this perfectly dramatic, inspirational story put together in my head. Of course, as soon pulled into the library parking lot my mind drew a blank, so this is what I've got for today. I am sitting here letting my empty caffeinated brain do its thing.
I am wondering how it is going to go tagging these posts considering I am a Christian, but I am not coming to this site to post any lies or fluff about my life. I did not find God by having a perfect cookie cutter life. I was a mess then and will admit that I am still, in fact, a mess. Though, I can definitely say I am in a better place in my life and on the right track. I am trying my absolute best here but in the words of Kendrick Lamar "I am a sinner who's probably going to sin again." and I am more than sure there are plenty of others who can relate or even if you can't, want to understand things from different perspectives.
My prayer is that this blog is inspiring and brings hope and wisdom to all. Believers and non-believers. That being said there is no doubt that I will say some unhinged stuff and my walk with Christ is never perfect. But I am always willing to admit my mistakes and continue to move forward on the narrow path. Either way, I am excited to see where this goes and to share this all with you.

"Ah, so you're the ghost hunter of Santo Domingo? I've had word about you slowly start to get around. Say, that doesn't really look like your car.... I thought you drove something older"
"OH yeah, that's a rental. I'm still banging out some dents in frogcar right now, had some body damage. Anyway, I wouldn't really call myself a ghost hunter. I just do this for fun and nothing ever really happens. I have a day job."
"You might say you do this for fun, but quite a few people have expressed the relief they experienced after your visit"
"Wow........this is news to me, I'm flattered. Honestly though, the last thing I did for someone on a "hunt" was fix their washer and drier from pulling off the wrong electrical circuit"
