Fun tidbits from just these paragraphs:

-In 3x77, the witches found a message on a hidden wall in the old master bedroom that read "Clever as you are, there is nothing for you here. Now go find your mother and apologize". This was assumed at the time to have been referring to Gwendolyn; it was actually addressed to Vesper.

-Vesper went through one of those "call your parent by their name" phases when she was a kid and Percy thought it was actually pretty dope

-Teenage Vesper was a pompous little shit who desperately needed the world to know how smart and important she was and we must absolutely conclude that this was Pelor passing judgment on Percy and Vex in his own way

-Vesper is the one who figured out how to make the pop guns first, Percy just modified them—so Little Mister shooting a god-eater with flaming shit is the product of a father-daughter bonding activity

-Percival Fredrickstein von Musel Klossowski de Rolo III has trapped every last inch of his castle and is absolutely making it his children's problem

Why I believe Arthur isn’t attracted to women and my not so deep analysis over it (this is my personal opinion, and a mess, so bear with me)

Hear me out.

Not only Arthur is a very constipated man over pretty much everything, doesn’t show or openly says what he feels, especially in the first two seasons, but he doesn’t even have friends, except those that he is supposed to have because he is a regent, and later a king. His father is even worse, thought him nothing if hatred and repression, so we can say he sucks at socialisation, and I may or may not be projecting here, but I know what it feels like to be out of your bubble and enter the world feeling completely out of yourself, which is why Arthur is attached to the hip with Merlin, and is he so enamoured, attracted, shocked with him during their first encounter.

Back to my point, he is socially awkward, but I don’t believe that is the reason behind why he acts the way he acts towards every single woman character in the TV show. (his own bloody wife included)

Arthur doesn’t like women, repertory A:

First kiss with Gwen. Lovely, I always smile when I see it, but why. Like, Arthur thought he was going through with his death, just received a token of affection that no one had ever dared give to him, felt appreciated, like a beaten kid who receives his first hug, and thought: “Okay, well, might kiss her too, isn’t that what you’re supposed to do?” , dipped for a peck, and FLED RIGHT AFTER. His face showed no emotion, he basically just gave a shrug when he realised he and Gwen couldn’t be together and went on with his day. And honestly, if it wasn’t for the amazing soundtrack, I would just stare at the screen with a flat face during their first kiss. You can feel the difference between this scene and the one where Lancelot saves Gwen and tells her to run, and they kiss before they part, and THERE you can feel the longing, understand why there had to be a parting kiss. Arthur almost feels relieved that Uther won’t let him stay with Gwen after he survives, but whatever.

Repertory B:

Arthur, even if enchanted, stills asks Merlin for advices on “feelings” and “girrlllss”. This doesn’t need explaining.

Repertory C:

Men can be shy, obviously, even with women, but, as I cited above, Arthur has no idea how to socialise. His friends, hell, even his relationship with Morgana, wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for Merlin. So explain to me why Arthur doesn’t even look at Gwen until he has to, and goes around NOT CARING about women, unless Uther is the one throwing them at him, and then caves when a pretty man appears on the screen. I also believe this is the directors’ fault, who tried so hard to make the relationship between Gwen and Arthur real, that they just made a gay show, but Arthur, when he had more worrisome things to think about, he didn’t care about women, or girls, or courtship, in the slightest, until Elena gets in the picture and he has to think about marriage and a future with his queen, again. I firmly believe Arthur chose Gwen not because he loved her romantically, but because to him, she was the best choice amongst everyone else.

Repertory D:

The Knights of the Round Table. Arthur, a prince that throughout all three seasons has an hard time even speaking openly to Merlin without making fun of him, or to Gwen, suddenly fights his father over Lancelot (because he admired him quickly, and couldn’t understand that because of his sexuality, he felt very comfortable around a thoughtful man like him), drools over Percival the first time he meets him, probably thinking of how nice it could be to jump the giant like a tree, and has a love hate relationship with Gwaine, because Gwaine is everything Arthur envies. Free, open, and in a close relationship with Merlin, (a man) that Arthur forbids himself to have. (also, nice hair)

Repertory E:

Mithian. Arthur doesn’t spare a glance at a single woman in the show. He does it with Gwen (poorly) because he feels he needs to, and once again avoids marriage, and acts like a complete panic around Mithian in the entirety of the episode where she is introduced. He can’t take her compliment when he meets her the first time; he doesn’t realise that standing outside a woman’s chamber for that long can mean something else; he is affronted of having burped in front of her, not because he likes her and she is a woman, but because Arthur’s ego is too huge; this man has no clue over: “how to act around women”, because to him, women are people he isn’t attracted to. As simple as that. He finds Morgause irritating and not beautiful, like many others, because to him, she is just another very good warrior who has beaten his ass.

Repertory F:

Arthur doesn’t have sex with Gwen (oh, hot take). We never see them languidly stare at each other (unlike the eye fucking that happens between Merlin and Arthur. That’s not sexual tension that can be cut with a knife, it’s a wall of homosexuality where Arthur often bangs his head on) Yes, this show was very chaste, but definitely not intended for kids (see innuendos), so how could someone who should be close to Gwen, in any way possible, doesn’t recognise that his wife is bloody enchanted and she is trying to kill him? No, you don’t need to have sex with someone to understand that they want you dead and that they drastically changed their personality, but my brother in christ, this just proves me that Arthur was attracted to the idea of a peaceful kingdom, ruled together with an intelligent, fierce, and good woman by his side, rather than attracted, attracted to Gwen per se. The rest of the time he just followed Merlin around like a puppy. He married for love? I believe he married his best friend Gwen so that he didn’t have to go through the process of having kids. The heir had never been the problem. If it was for Arthur, he would have married Merlin the instant he met him in the market during the first episode.

Repertory G:

Do we see Arthur openly complimenting the women in the show? No. Also, because it’s not the point of the show. The point of the show is the homosexual relationship Arthur has with his serv—(he does it with Gwen and probably Mithian, because she is objectively beautiful, but I can’t remember other instances)

Last but not least:

Merlin.

Separately, Arthur, and here I’m adding Gwen, too, are both complex and well thought characters, lacking many things and contradicting themselves during the show, always because of how they were badly written in a lot of episodes. The Arwen scenes are lovely, but they don’t bring out anything. They don’t make you hope, giggle, despair, cry, because to me, there is nothing there to be tragic over. They just needed to fill a gap so that the people who didn’t like the idea of Merlin and Arthur together romantically would have something else to watch. Which is also the main ship of the show and it makes everything more hilarious, because they fucked it up so bad, LMAO.

The more you try not to make something gay, you just make it even gayer that what you had originally planned.

I had so many other points, but my ADHD said no. So if you want to add something else, feel free to do it!

Sure thing, @shamelesspierrot! I love Tsugeura and I think that his dynamic with Suo is hilarious, so this was fun to write x)

Let’s start off with their characters first: Both of them have a similar introductory style.

Suo is initially introduced as a practical jokester kind of character (which disproves Nirei’s speculation about him being cold/aloof). He keeps his ‘lighthearted character’ quota up until his fight with Kanuma.

This is when the tone of Suo’s character does a complete 180. It immediately catches the audience off guard and makes us (and Sakura) much more wary of Suo. What else is he hiding? Is this his true personality? Was Nirei right about Suo being cold?

But later down the line, we realize that Suo is a genuinely kind person who cares for Sakura and Nirei a lot.

Suo may not be the most honest of people, but his adoration and respect is wholeheartedly real, so the audience will either continue to debate on his character or be content with how he is now.

Tsugeura follows this same format, though its squeezed in during his focus arc and not dragged out like Suo’s.

In the beginning of the story, we only see glimpses of Tsuge working out in the background (much like Kiryuu, who was constantly on his phone). There hasn’t been much substance built around his character yet, so the audience assumes he’s just a musclebrain who really likes working out.

It’s not until nearly 30 chapters later that he is formally introduced (and we get more Nirei exposition about him).

However, Tsugeura is portrayed as intimidating for a brief moment, much like the setup for Suo. And like Suo, Sakura initially percives Tsuge as a threat.

This notion is immediately dispelled by the next moment:

Once again, the audience’s expectations are immediately subverted. Instead of an intimidating, jacked up guy, Tsugeura is an eccentric character who’s obsessed with virtues and working out.

And we find that even Tsugeura is a genuinely kind person as well—wholeheartedly apologizing to the girl he accidentally scared.

In fact, Tsugeura is incredibly honest and open.

This is very much unlike Suo, who is a secretive person—or at least, only keeps people’s at an arms length and doesn’t reveal much information about his personal life. He even lies about what he’s scared of, which is the complete opposite of Tsuge’s belligerently honest answer.

Another scene which puts Suo and Tsugeura’s characters up against each other is during chapter 108, when Sakura and his classmates are preparing for the war against Noroshi.

We mainly see Tsugeura praising Sakura’s skills, with the latter dismissing his claims (their friendship is so GOOD).

However, Suo interjects with this:

Instead of also complimenting Sakura like Tsugeura [and the others], he instead offers Sakura much needed “constructive” criticism: Sakura is good when fighting alone, but he’s bad with teaming up with others. His advice works out in Sakura’s [and Sugishita’s] favor during Noroshi, but I digress.

Alongside Tsugeura being very open, he’s also loud, personality and dialogue wise.

He also comes off incredibly strong to others:

In two of the three instances I’ve provided, it’s Suo who is criticizing Tsugeura. He often has an uncomfortable expression whenever he’s around him; it’s incredibly funny, given that Suo doesn’t normally make these types of faces.

Suo even goes as far as to call him annoying:

But isn’t Suo being a hypocrite? Even Sakura likes to [subconsciously] show off his skillset, and Suo is amazed by him!

Heck, Nirei is also very kind and hardworking, and Suo praises him too!

So whats the issue here?

Well, it’s been shown from Tsugeuras introduction scene that him and Suo have some sort of history. Other than Sakura (who was an outsider), Tsuge is the only person who has questioned Suo.

I’m not sure what their past could be or what answers Tsuge wants due to a lack of information (at the time I’m writing this). Though I speculate that they knew each other in middle school, or at least attended the same school.

However, Tsugeura only brings this up once. He doesn’t exactly push Suo to answer. In fact, he even considers being secretive a virtue.

Based off this scene, I also speculate that Suo and Tsugeura may have fought in the past (maybe so Tsuge could know more about Suo). It ended up with Suo losing, however he never followed up with Tsugeura for whatever reason. I highly doubt that Suo would be this judgmental if he hadn’t already interacted with Tsuge in the past.

Speaking of fights, I love how their fighting styles are complete opposites. Tsugeura is agressively offensive and very passionate, while Suo is passively defensive and remains calm (most of the time):

But this isn’t all to say that Suo hates Tsugeura. Despite his annoyance, Suo still respects him as a person and fighter.

Suo calls him strong, and the panel framing is very intentional here. We see Suo cast in a screentone to resemble a shadow, as if there’s something deeper to his statement—meanwhile, Sakura is drawn normally and looks at Suo with confusion. This could further support my theory of their possible fight in the past; Suo knows first hand that Tsugeura is strong.

Suo never directly insults Tsugeura. Although he is annoyed by his personality and enthusiasm (which the total opposite of his character), he still acknowledges that he strong—and a genuine guy who can be a bit sensitive sometimes. I’m excited to see how their relationship pans out in the future.

Ok I just need to write this down somewhere! Here is my take on bbc Merlin's characters love languages (I don't really truly believe in love languages all that much but I'm here for fun):

Merlin: Gift giving and acts of service. Feels like fairly obvious. The man kept trying to make strawberries for Freya and yes it was the first time he truly got to show of his magic to someone but I believe he would have brought her things like that anyway. And he enjoys doing things for those he loves, there are far too many examples for me to put here but look up your favorite ship and I guarantee there is an example

Arthur: Words of affirmation and physical touch. My man never had love a second of his life. He needs constant reassurance in words as well as touch. He's always grabbing at those he cares for (again legit just look up your favorite ship with him I'm sure there's examples) but my headcannon is that he's just a little guy and he needs the words as well. Even if he's not good at giving the words in return. He needs to hear that he's loved.

Gwen: Quality time and gift giving. She just adores being around those she loves. She needs the quiet moments much more than the grand gestures. The little time just spent in each others presence, not really talking, not even touching, just there. And she loves giving things in much the similar way that Merlin does. See: all the times she brought flowers to people in s1

Lancelot: Physical touch and quality time: Alright here's where the true headcannons start coming out. Lance needs the touches, the soft rub of the back of someone's hand against his, the gentle feeling of someone brushing away his hair, the harsh grab to get him away from something they perceive as trouble. But he also needs the time with someone. Their eyes locking across the room, the only noise in their chambers being soft breaths, the moments spent doing nothing in particular. I have very few examples to go with this one so my source is trust me bro.

Gwaine: Physical touch and words of affirmation. Ok. So yes, the physical touch is in that sense of the word as well. But my man needs the feather light graze of a thumb across his cheek. He needs to feel the love of others through his skin. And he also needs to feel it through their words. He is a man that has never really had anyone and he needs to be constantly reminded of who he has now. In every language, in every word, in every look, in every touch.

Leon: Acts of service and quality time: Leon needs to be doing something for the person he loves. All the time. He doesn't know how to show his love in any other way. Yet he needs the calm, slowed down moments to prove that you're in love with him, that you'll be there for him when the chaos of the day is but a distant memory.

Elyan: Physical touch and quality time. This one was harder so I'm putting more my own spin on Elyan's character than what we get in the show. He needs to be held tightly and very rarely is he ever seen not holding hands with whoever he loves. He needs to touch them like he needs to breath air. And much like Gwen he needs to be around that person, like all of the time. Doing the mundane with them, just experiencing them as often as he can.

Percival: Physical touch and acts of service. Much like Elyan, he needs to be touching the person he loves but it comes from much more of a protecting angle. He lost everyone he ever loved in Morgana's rein, he needs to know they are there. But not just there, also well fed and taken care for. He brings the person he loves fruits and water and takes them on walks to make sure that they'll always be there with him.

Ok this is super long and I know I missed Morgana but I don't really have a good idea for her. This was just my little writing exercise so I could understand how my characters would interact in love.

I will be next to her explaining things but I also wanted to start off with something more digestible. We've already watched the green knight (2021) (I know) and excalibur (1981) together. thank you for all you do!

Hello, I am and I hope you are too!

Oh yayyy this is so awesome. I'm going to suggest things that I personally feel really give a newbie a grasp of the characters in such a way that if they were to watch something else afterward, it would actually aid them in understanding. There are some films that are so experimental they're unrecognizable (like Knightriders (1981) or Shadow of the Raven (1988)). Those are amazing, visionary films. But they're entrenched in their respective cultures (American and Icelandic respectively) so they don't really help someone new grasp the foundational lore like the things I'll be suggesting will. This list offers self-contained stories with solid writing, great acting, and entertainment enough to keep one engaged, without any requirement for prior knowledge to appreciate.

Here are the beginner friendly options listed in order of release:

Knights of the Round Table (1953)

Details the rise & fall of Camelot from Arthur pulling the sword from the stone to his & Mordred's deaths. It has everything, the A/G/L of all time, adorable Percival & Elaine as siblings, Orkney bros Gawain, Agravaine, Gareth, & Mordred (who is not a product of incest), sassy clever Morgan beefing with fatherly sweet Merlin, gorgeous costuming, moving script.

BBC The Legend of King Arthur (1979)

This is technically a show but hear me out. It's only 8 episodes, half hour each, & covers the full Arthurian story from Uther's battle with Gorlois to take Igraine all the way to Arthur's passing. Morgan is a central character & fascinating. Arthur raised by Ector alongside Kay. Goes to battle against Lot & Accolon & the other rebellious lords. Great Lancelot & Bors. Guinevere is strong & interesting & sympathetic. Orkney bros Gawain, Agravain, Gareth, & Mordred (who is not a product of incest). Elaine of Corbenic & Elaine of Astolat both present as separate women. Grail quest led by Galahad (no Percival unfortunately). Mador’s brother Guido poisoned “by Guinevere” like in Le Morte d’Arthur & a trial by combat ensues. It’s a really compelling version of events that can give a beginner a great overview of the legends.

Sword of Lancelot (1963)

Opens with an older Arthur looking to marry. Lancelot is his bestie & champion. Other knights include Gawain, Mordred (who is not a product of incest), Bedivere, Dagonet the jester, Lamorak, Kay the seneschal, & eventually Tor. Lancelot/Guinevere have great chemistry they were married irl.

Gawain and the Green Knight (1991)

Faithful adaptation of SGATGK complete with three days of kissing! Unique by having Gawain recount the reason for his journey as he’s already on it. Flashbacks show Gawain at the high table with Arthur & Guinevere, sitting next to his brother Agravaine, when the Green Knight comes in, & is beheaded. The events at Bertilak’s castle play out just like the poem with the lady coming to tempt Gawain & then he forwards those kisses to Bertilak in exchange for the animal of the hunt. Colorful & fun!

Tristan & Isolde (2006)

One of my favorites. I think the leads have great chemistry & gives a decent overview of the Medieval story without too much access. Mark here is morally way better than in Medlit but it does make the live triangle more juicy. Brangain is really funny here too. There is no magic in this version, so no love potion. Just pure unaided adultery.

Sir Lanval (2011)

Short & sweet indie movie adapting Marie of France’s lay of the same name. Great casting, beautiful costuming, pretty sets. Lanval’s rags to riches story thanks to his fairy lady Tryamour. Sport but well-meaning Arthur not doing his marital duties gives Guinevere sufficient motivation to try & seduce Lanval. Kay is here as Arthur’s foster brother & seneschal but sort of acts like an attorney? Lol? Great movie.

Sire Gauvain et le Chevalier Vert (2014)

Another SGATGK poem adaptation, this time in French (with English subtitles) & condensed to a mere 28 minutes run time. Visually stunning & beautifully acted. A little more mature than the 1991 version, bc of course the French have to get freaky with it sexual style (this is a good thing). Another awesome adaptation worth checking out.

You must be more than a cuckoo, you also need other required stats, such as pure (atleast 3), will (atleast 7), and as far as I recall, you must have 100% Sweet either on the personality you showcase outside or the one you hide.

-The pure stat can be gained by choosing “innocent” actions, if I’m right. Options can be when having a crush (obvious or hidden) on Adrian and choosing the song options in the Apocalypse topic when you talk with him during club time. One song option will have romantic lyrics, you must choose the innocent option to gain purity. Another option can be when asking Merlin in the latest update if they need to feed during the drive at the abandoned warehouse. Avoid potty mouthed responses and lustful choices, or the Lust sin. -Will is mostly options that oppose Denial, such as “I’ve always wanted to go on a apocalyptic trip!”, it also helps that some of these options also raise cuckoo levels. -The Sweet stat is easier to mesure, given that it’s visible. Obviously, choose positive responses so that it’s 100%, or if you fail to do so, choose 100% Sweet as your hidden persona.

Basically, the PC must be some sort of modern Percival. Forgot to mention, but you also must not be corrupted/possessed, the whole “pure” thing, you know.

@unhell-of-the-unwise Some corrections as I've 'ctrl+f'd through the code and you're mostly right. Pure is gained by: OBVIOUS SPOILERS INCOMING: Never swearing. This should actually score you enough points for the soulmate flag on its own, so long as you don't lose points. However, if you still want to curse in every language known to man, as swearing does not subtract points on its own, there are just enough points to scrounge up to still trigger the flag. In the polo route, you have to Instinctively save Pippa, and not back down even if you fail. In the the fencing route, you can get a point for giving the panhandler your spare change and by not saving Zain but by then applying pressure to the wound. After club, if you are not a Greed MC or panicking, you must go back to Help Merlin after they first appear. Next point appears during 20 questions; when the topic of God and Angels come up, you have to Believe (do not pray). If you are kidnapped by the call, trying to help your burning apartment building is another point. (There's another point opportunity sandwiched in here, but it's by vowing off all swearing, but swearing is fun!) If you don't go into the gas station, questioning whether Merlin paid for everything is a point; if you do go in, simply not taking anything is a point. If you have three points, you have enough. It's lost by being a filthy, self-centered blackguard! No stealing (names are okay)! No harming people to get ahead (don't even think about it) and 1000 poxes on you murderers out there!

The gala was in full swing , high society with lavish attires and jewelry that screams "filthy rich" , the crowd chatting up , exchanging pleasantries and gossip , striking alliances and negotiating deals but that's what to expect from such gathering .

Up on the balcony overlooking the crowd stood Charles or more known as (agent Percival) looking as handsome as always adorned in a three piece black suit gaze Sharp and focused as he scanned the lively crowd before stealing a glance down at Max or (agent Emilian) who stood by the bar discreetly scanning every exit while keeping a keen eye on the flowing crowd all while nursing a glass of something strong and in his words "very much necessary to go through these kind of shit shows" smirking at his fixed cold stare that discouraged any of the ogling women trying to flirt or even try to strike a conversation with him away .

Nodding subtly at one of the fellow agents as he passed by him , taking a glass of champagne from a waiter standing by before turning back to the crowd once again , shoulders tensing as he felt a delicate hand sliding in the crook of his arm but her scent repaxed his worries but he kept his guards up . looking down to locking eyes with her gleaming ones , her signature red lips inviting him to steal a kiss and as bad as he wanted to it wasn't the time nor place , the black backless dress with long sleeves hugging her curves didn't help at all , with her hair descends down her back in relaxed elegant curles with two price framing her face , he scolded her in a defeated tone " amour " as she reached for his glass taking a sip and giving him an innocent smile as he gave her a deadpanned one back , sliding her hand out of his arm to reach up fixing his slightly crooked tie before settling it on his chest as she gave him a sly smile " hello darling , missed me yet? " His hand instinctively went to her waist moving subtly to shield her from any possible attack still keeping his disapproving stare " you know we do " before looking down and as she followed his gaze she gave a wink at Max who's already looking at them with fiery eyes before leaning up to whisper in Charles's earpiece "hello , my emil " looking back down rising the glass on greeting with a wide smile as he raised his with a smirk that slipped into a full grin for a split second before turning back to the task at hand leaving Charles for now to deal with whatever she doing there .

Looking at her he asked in a defeated tone "you're not supposed to be here amour , not tonight at least" she tilted her head to the side giving him a mischievous look "can't a girl have a fun night out , I even got all dolled up . What do you think?" He only tugged her closer leaning to voice to her ears only " you know damn well what I think , what we both think of doing to you right now Mon amour " and went on " but that's not the point , now tell me what are you doing here? " Giving her one more look he added "or should I say what have you done ? " She just shrugged taking another sip "nothing anyone can prove , so don't worry " , " but you know I'm always worried with those too many close calls " before she could argue back alarms went off cutting their chat short as the majority of the gaurds securing the exits starts heading to the west wing of the venue , the rest escorting the guests out in a haste .

" Well , this is my cue " She gave Charles his glass back "and yours too " then she leaned up close for the earpiece to pick up "I'll see you soon" before giving him a light kiss on the cheek turning to head to east wing dodging cameras before slipping into a dark corner .

With a sigh he turned to head to the closest exit tuning in with the rest of the team "where's our target?" Lando's voice came in " north wing , exit 3 , four guards and two on the lookout " . " Copy that" Charles answered followed by Max's curt "copy" before switching back to his Chanel with Max "she's probably out there causing havoc" who gave an amused Huff " you know her , never a dull moment with her around" before taking out his gun "alright, I got the target locked in position . I'll handle the gaurds , the lookout are by the fountain , I'll meet you in extraction in five" , "copy that" .

Taking up the stairs , one right and two doors down she reached her destination , picking the lock and straight towards the grand painting pausing as she took it in "an original" she mumbled before shrugging it down revealing a safe behind it 30 seconds to crack it open taking what she needs and 10 to hung back the painting giving it a pitiful pout "what a shame" then heading back out to go down the back entrance , but not everything goes as planned as she found two guards on alert right as she took the corner , one stepped out to grab her " hey! You're not supposed to be here!" . With one move she took him down throwing a blade at the second one before he could reach for his gun . And From the window above she saw Max taking down guards , and far enough there was a hidden figure lurking with a gun and she hurried to head out but not before leaving a little gift behind .

Max took down two , quick and easy , the third made the stupid move to face him and went down in a second , the last one took the chance to try to tackle him down but received a right hook that knocked him down followed by a swift bullet , that left the target, a cowardly man gaping at the falling men who were supposed to get him out safely before turning to make a run for it but didn't take two steps before a bullet Peirced the ground few inches from his feet as Max gave a warning shot "don't even think about it , I'll gladly put the next one in your head " and that got him to shrink and raised his hands in surrender , now with his hands tied behind his back being led out through a secret gate .

Both reached the extraction at the same time, finding the blackedout SUV waiting as planned , handing over the target , preifing is in two hours back in headquarters. and as the car rolled out a bullet shot through hitting the curb and before they could shoot back a thud of a body was heard , and as they suspected a small curved knive stuck out from the back of the shooter's neck.

A heeled figure emerged out before she bent down taking her knive out wiping away the blood with a handkerchief huffing out " it's rude to shoot people in the back " then throwing it away after . As she reached them she slips her hand into Max's outstretched one "Schat" he greets fondly then gave her a kiss in the knuckles before turning her hand giving her palm another one both turning to Charles who remarked loudly " it's quite , too quite" . That earned him a dazzling smile as she stepped away heading towards her car parked few metres away from the back entrance " you know me too well , I never go out without a bang" and as if on cue a loud explosion went out , taking down half of the venue in flames , and with that she blew them a kiss as she drove down the road .

Ok, i need to hear your opinion on this.

I had a short discussion with my friend about shipping. I am generally not a person who likes ships, because if some characters are written to be friends, i can hardly picture them in romantic or sexual relationship, another factor is if they ship actors who play roles and then draw explicit content with them, which is imo hella weird. However generally, ships are harmless and fun, so i don't care much about it. But there is one shipping trope which i strongly dislike, and it's gay Dandelion. Here's my argument:

Dandelion is very flamboyant, very feminine, artistic, he takes care of his looks, he is bit of a coward, he is weak but sassy. Even though these traits are often percived as gay, he is straight. The reason why this matter is bcz he represents me and gives me freedom. I am exactly like him, obbiously an artist, a hopeless romantic, feminine, flamboyant, yet straight. Often i am pressured by my queer and straight friends that i'm in closet, almost every single person from my school thinks i'm gay too, and this does bother me bcz most of them are trying to convince me that i'm gay simply bcz i'm bit eccentric.

That's why Dandelion means so much to me, he reminds me that i can absolutely be dandy and straight at the same time. I can be an artist, i can be a hopeless romantic or sassy queen while still loving women. So, Dandelion represents inner artists and more gentle side of straight men. He doesn't fight with swords, but he knows people, he is good with women, respects them (well, at least for medieval standards), and he fights with words. Turning him gay defeats the purpose of his character and turns him into another gay stereotype.

Just to be clear ofc, i am not bothered by Dandelion ships, ships are obviously not canon, and as long as it makes someone happy, i'm all for it. So don't take this as some rageful rant please 😅 So, what do you think? My friend kind of dissagrees.

i think it’s a fine opinion to have, especially because you express yourself so respectfully of others and aren’t hating on others or on the idea of being gay, you’re simply disagreeing with the interpretation of a character.

and, you know, canon is on your side—he is close with geralt to be sure, but canonically the intention is close friendship.

when noncanon ships get popular in the fandom, it can be annoying because some start acting like they have more “validity” (i.e. canon-ness) to their ship just because it’s popular, and yeah, while yeah i might joke with my friends and such that “i found this evidence! it’s canon! it’s real!” i think it’s important to keep a reality check on board.

tumblr is kind of like the home of shipping, so people on this site might be more sensitive about rejection of shipping as a concept, but to be honest…

i have become more criticial of shipping culture over the past few years, especially because some shipping has been relentlessly untagged, overtagged (into irrelevant tags), or forced on me, like people have approached me with ships/sexual context or discussion of characters, because i like that character so they assumed i liked the popular ship of them. this was upsetting to me at the time, and although i’ve cooled i still get a bit mad thinking about it, because it’s like they weren’t even open to seeing a different take on the character, my take on them, which was/is personal and important to me and something i wish to be understood about

so i can totally understand how you feel, and, i say this as someone who likes the book geralt/dandelion ship.

for that ship and me specifically, my interpretation of it has gone through so many stages, and where i’m at now with it is: i really like the canon characterization, dynamic, and interaction, and i don’t really want to change anything about it (or their relationships with women) to make it “more shippy,” i just enjoy their closer interactions. i guess i play in both camps of, i like them canonically as friends, and i also enjoy the romantic interpretation. my tag for them is “i want to be by your side” for a reason, i think this line can be interpreted as either (though of course shipping isn’t canon, i just mean, if you engage in shipping)

but i see why the romantic interpretation of geralt and dandelion can make people uncomfortable—not because for the reason of being gay, but because intimacy and truth isn’t represented well in male friendships, so geralt and dandelion being solid bros is great to see. though of course, gay representation is also lacking… so this argument can go both ways. worth it to mention that i think intimacy in male friendships being underrepresented is due to homophobia.

i also agree with what you say about jaskier being headcanoned as gay because he is artistic and not physically aggressive, i also find it off and frustrating when people make jokes about how jaskier is an incompetent and sassy gay because, idk, he plays an instrument?

… and don’t get me started on interjecting random stereotypical overly affectionate or “gay sassy phrases” into his dialogue when he doesn’t talk like that. this is really netflix’s fault to be honest, but i wish people would look at the books before they write something… that’s just me though and why i’m picky with fanfic/don’t often read it anymore.

i especially get annoyed when the interpretation directly contradicts the canon, like saying that jaskier is completely inept at any physical ability, because he does a lot of stuff, just not swordfighting—in a little sacrifice, he picks up and swings essi daven (who admittedly is light, but), in blood of elves he runs across rooftops, and in general is probably a good runner because he has to flee a lot from angry husbands

and more specifically, i get that it makes people uncomfortable that he is a philanderer and oftentimes objectifying, lecherous, cheater to women, but at the same time, after spending time with the witcher books i’ve come to realize and understand that that’s a huge part of his character (and for good reason), so i do kind of smirk when people imagine him as totally unattracted to women, like that is kind of a key feature of dandelion, like it or not.

(and on another note, i don’t like it much when his overt sexuality is censored, because it serves a thematic function to oppose him to geralt??? i laugh very hard at headcanons that jaskier is a virgin, that confuses me so much)

back to stereotyping him as gay for his looks and behavior—i’ll also provide a counterargument. as a gay person, i think we are sometimes just comfortable with making jokes about various stereotypes, so this can bleed over into headcanons.

for example, i like headcanoning milva as a lesbian, even though she doesn’t even show any attraction to women in canon, just because i enjoy her short hair and muscular physique—which is totally a stereotype of what a lesbian looks like, but it’s also not a … completely false one? there are plenty of short-haired muscular lesbians out there (to any reading: hiiiiiiii~) and i think the lgbt community as a whole sometimes enjoys reclaiming stereotypes that are based in just, common appearances, that aren’t entirely false, they’re just stereotypes because *not every* gay person looks like that. there are also a lot of skinny artistic gay (or in jaskier’s case IMO, bi) guys out there so it’s, i imagine, also something of a “representation” for them in a similar way it is for you, they like to see themselves in a character.

i think in general the disagreements that arise go back to disagreements on how important canon is to fandom, which is a personal decision for everyone… and even amongst the shipping it is a challenge to find the same or similar interpretations, because it can vary so much

Nasiens is tasked with one thing. One important thing, and that is, to bring Percival back. It's not a simple task, it's a quite complicated one that might take years to accomplish but Nasiens won't give up, producing medicine is the one thing that he knows and he'll do the best that he can to make the medicine that will wake him up. They took him to the Fairy Realm, it was Lancelot's idea, and Meliodas approved of it.

With Lancelot's guidance, they traveled towards the Fairy King's Forest with Anne and Donny tagging along. Lancelot seems quite familiar with the place which isn't too surprising since he's half-fairy. Nasiens is optimistic but nervous, he's presenting himself to royalty after all. Lancelot must have noticed this and reassured him. "Don't worry too much, you'll be fine in there."

"What is he even like?" Donny asked. "You mentioned him before, you said he taught you a few spells, right?"

"Yeah, Tristan even said that he made you your clothes," Anne added. "Which isn't really something he would do to just anybody given his status."

Lancelot sighed. "Might as well... You see, the Fairy King... he's my uncle."

"What?!" The three erupted

"It's not that big of a deal okay." Lancelot shrugged.

"What do you mean not that big of a deal!!!" Donny shouted. "This is really important information!!"

"Listen... don't think about it too much all right. Uncle isn't the type of person who cares about these things, and since you guys are my buddies I guarantee you he'll just make you call him by his name."

And true to Lancelot's words that is exactly what happened. And that is how Nasiens got himself into the Fairy Realm and it was filled to the brim with various things he could use, and it made him hopeful that he could actually do this. The Fairy King placed Percival inside the Cave of Whispers, he didn't get the chance to ask him the reason for this since he was still quite unsure of how to approach the monarch.

Everything is as it should be, he is given the opportunity of a lifetime to explore a realm that is perfect for his abilities and with a goal in mind, there is nothing that should stop him. During his time there, he made good friends with Tioreh, the Fairy King's youngest daughter and her other siblings seem to like him as well, except for their eldest. From time to time Lancelot would visit and would bring Anne and Donny with him.

"How's everything?" Donny asked him as they gathered inside the Cave of Whispers.

"The usual, although my experiments keep on failing." Nasiens lowered his head.

"Come on man. It's only been what? a couple of months since you got here. I'm sure there are tons of things you haven't tried yet, you'll find a way." Donny patted him reassuringly on the shoulder.

"How is it living here then?" Anne asked.

"It's fine. I'm still easing up on the whole thing. Sometimes, I still get quite nervous around them even though they're so friendly." Nasiens answered. "I got used to being with Tioreh though, I'm not quite sure about the others."

"That's good at least." Lancelot nodded. "Out of everyone, Tioreh and Belte are the easiest to get along with, Sixtus is a bit tricky but I'm sure he'll like you."

Nasiens can't help but chuckle. Lancelot turns into a different person when he's around his family, he gets so giddy and fun like he finally gets to loosen up a bit.

"I mean when I first met Sixtus you're the person who came to mind. You two are quite a lot alike." Nasiens said.

"Fair." Lancelot nodded.

"Mertyl doesn't seem to like me all that much, to be honest," Nasiens added.

"I guess I can see why." Nasiens heard Lancelot said. "He's always been so insecure."

"What would Mertyl be insecure about?" Nasiens asked.

"What?" Lancelot raised a brow.

"You said something about how you can see why Mertyl doesn't like me because he's insecure about something. I wanna know what it is about."

"Nasiens... you're smart, you could put two and two together, right?"

Nasiens lowered his head. "I'm... I'm a fairy, aren't I?" Anne and Donny's eyes widened. "How long have you known?" Nasiens asked Lancelot.

"I have my suspicions, The ability to be immune to poisons is quite rare for humans but is natural to the Fairy Clan, that was my first hint. But, you never exhibited anything else other than that so I suppose that was just a unique thing that you could do because of your magic." Lancelot explained. "Then... this happened."

"I see." Nasiens nodded.

"Hey! Don't be upset!" Anne rushed over to him. "No matter what you are, you're still Nasiens, nothing will change."

"She's right!" Donny added. "I'm sure Percival will say the same thing, know what I bet he'll be super excited to know that you're a fairy this entire time."

Nasiens smiled as they comforted him, truthfully, he wasn't all that upset, he was actually glad that he got to know more about his origins and slowly he gets to hear what's inside their hearts, he gets to hear their love and care for him.

"Lancelot! Aren't you gonna say anything?! You're the one who dropped this on him! Be a little considerate come on!" Anne scolded Lancelot.

"Could you two wait outside for a bit? I need to speak to Nasiens alone." Lancelot said, his voice low, his bangs covering his eyes.

"Don't give us that! If you have anything to say to him, you can say it to us! We're all friends here!"

"Fine." Lancelot sighed, slowly walking over to Nasiens as he spoke.

"I had another cousin, his name is Galehaut. I've been told that he was taken away, a changeling a prank, a stupid and cruel prank where a fairy and human baby were switched. Uncle and Auntie were absolutely devasted at the time, I couldn't even comprehend it myself but I was told that the fairy who did it wasn't a part of the forest, it was someone from the outside, which made it even more impossible to find him. They tried their best but they couldn't and they had to accept the fact that they ultimately lost their firstborn."

"Lancelot... where are you going with this?"

"Galehaut has brown hair and amber eyes, that's what I've been told." Lancelot continued. "Nasiens... when I first met you... you reminded me so much of my uncle." A small tear escaped Lancelot's eyes. "From the way you look to your determination to save the Gorge." Lowering his head he chuckled."It's crazy that I only realized this just now... I can't believe it has been you this entire time."

Nasiens is stunned. Lancelot, he's crying. He's overwhelmed with emotions, he can hear it, he can hear it perfectly. There are no lies to what he said, everything is true and genuine. A small tear fell from his eyes as well, soft sobs escaping him.

"I know you have questions, rightfully so, but I can't answer all of them," Lancelot said. "We'll talk this thing through with everybody, it won't be easy but... I'll be there. We're family now after all."

Donny and Anne were left dumbfounded by what just occurred, everything just seemed so crazy that it couldn't be true, but it was. For the first time, Lancelot is clean. Anne can see it, he's not hiding anything, and everything he has said is true.

Unbeknownst to them, some are looking in and listening in to the conversation. Two fairies, one boy and one girl.

"Hey! Did you hear that!" One whisper yelled.

"Yeah! So... Nassie is our brother." The other one responded.

"That's what Lancelot said, besides you heard all those rumors. They couldn't just come from anywhere."

"What about Mertyl then?"

"Come on! He's still our big brother, and I highly doubt this will change anything. Think of it like we'll have another sibling but instead of having a younger one we'll have someone older."

Amidst to their whispering, another voice joined in.

"What are you two doing here sneaking around for?"

The two fairies turned around and flew upwards in shock and held each other.

"Sixtus!" They cried in unison.

"Well... Tioreh is about to visit Nasiens and she mentioned that Lancelot would be here so I tagged along." Belte explained. "Then we just so happened to overhear their conversation and..."

"Sixtus... Nassie is our brother." Tioreh spoke softly.

"What!?"

"Dude, you must have heard the rumors right? You know about the name every elder refuses to talk about." Belte flew over to his brother.

"Galehaut," Sixtus spoke softly. "It's the name of Mom and Dad's firstborn."

"How did you know?"

"I asked Dad about it years ago, his answer did not match what his heart said. I don't know why they kept it from us but I suppose it's for Mertyl's sake. He has always been insecure about his standing."

"We heard it. Lancelot said it himself. Nasiens is Galehaut!" Belte shouted a little too loud.

"Hey!!" It's Lancelot. "Belte!! It's rude to spy on people."

"Now you've done it!" Tioreh glared at her brother.

"You too Tioreh!!"

Sixtus rolled his eyes and sighed. "Just go inside."

Upon entering, Tioreh and Belte hang their head low not wanting to see Lancelot glaring at them which he really isn't.

"Seriously." Lancelot raised a brow. "You too Sixtus."

"As if." Sixtus scoffed. "I'm the one who caught these hooligans."

"On a serious note, is it true?" Sixtus asked for confirmation and Lancelot affirmed it with a nod.

"I see."

"That's amazing!!" Tioreh cheered and flew over to Nasiens to give him a hug. Flabbergasted, Nasiens stayed still. "I have a new big brother!!"

"Come on man! Loosen up a bit!!" Belte laughed without a care in the world.

Lancelot just chuckled at his cousins' antics and Sixtus smiled.

"Don't worry, I'll talk to Mertyl." Sixtus said.

"Thanks." Lancelot smiled.

"Did you seriously just realize this now?" Sixtus chuckled, deciding to be a bit playful.

"Oh shut up! You guys didn't realize this too." Lancelot exclaimed.

"Well... I did." Sixtus smirked, flipping himself upside down.

"Me too!!" Tioreh added, clinging onto Nasiens.

"I mean, I kinda got it." Belte shrugged.

"Hah! Liar!!"

"What do you mean!! He looks a lot like them. Anyone would have guessed!!" Sixtus chuckled. "Especially me, I've been told that I'm the spitting image of my father."

"I still can't get that one." Belte shook his head.

"Uncle looks different when he's younger. Just imagine Sixtus with his hair and eye color and you got it." Lancelot replied.

"Quick! Change! I wanna see it." Tioreh squealed.

"What?! No!!"

"Do it!!" Belte insisted. "It's not that hard."

"Still a no." Sixtus shook his head.

"Sixty... Please..." Tioreh pleaded. "Do it for Nassie." She shoved Nasiens who is getting overwhelmed but growing comfortable with their interactions.

"Say something," Tioreh whispered into his ear.

"Uhhh... I'm curious what His Majesty looks like when he is younger as well." Nasiens said.

Sixtus stayed silent for a while until a small idea came to mind.

"Fine. I'll do it." Sixtus smirked. "But... Call him father first."

Lancelot choked out a laugh, falling on his knees, Tioreh let out a cheer of excitement and Belte gave Sixtus a high five.

Nasiens' cheeks turned red, the very thought of it made him so embarrassed he wanted to melt into a puddle.

"Do it Nassie!!" Tioreh shook him.

"Come on, it'll be fun." Belte clapped his hands.

"You guys are vile." Lancelot laughed. "You're gonna kill the guy."

As the commotion was going on, two figures stood at the entrance of the Cave.

"They all seem to be getting along just fine, there's no need to worry your Majesty."

There's definitely been a shift after the summer break, especially on Charles' part 👀 what happened Charles, did you like have some sort of sudden realisation?

Anon, you are so right! Charles has been throwing longing stares and heart eyes at Carlos like crazy since summer break, it's crazy. It's making me go insane.

Like. What is that?? This is not how you look at a teammate! Charles, get a grip (please don't, I am living for this!)

Something happened during summer break. My theory is that they did meet during the summer break (was it planned or not, I don't know, but something happened in the south of France 👀), they fucked (for the first time) and Charles is now obsessed with that man. And it shows.

Here's a little something for you...

They meet in the south of France.

Except for a few texts and one or two silly memes, they haven't been in contact much during the summer break. A like on an Instagram post here and there, keeping up with the other through social media. Kinda. Realizing they are not far from each other and yet they haven't planned to spend a single day together.

They spend enough days together working. This is summer break. This is for fun.

Still. They do meet. Somewhere in the south of France. In a private yet crowded club. Neither wanted to go, dragged by their friends. And yet here they are. Catching eyes from across the room.

Carlos wiggles his eyebrows. Charles giggles.

They go back to their friends.

They meet again later at the bar.

"I didn't know you would be here."

"They dragged me here, it wasn't planned."

They shout over the loud music and the alcohol slowly settling in their veins.

They go back to their friends again. They meet up again later. Much much later. In the bathroom. By accident.

Charles sways (drunk) and collides with Carlos' chest. Carlos laughs (too high, too loud, too drunk).

"Missed me this much, Lord Percival?"

"Maybe," Charles mumbles in Carlos' collar.

Carlos' shirt hangs open almost all the way down. There's only one or two buttons still attached.

"At this point, you should just take it off," Charles slurs.

(Or at least, that's what he is trying to say.) His alcohol-addled brain cannot really form sentences anymore. So he mumbles a few words then proceeds to rip the last two buttons on Carlos' shirt and opens it wide over the expanse of his muscled chest.

"Charles," Carlos groans. In warning. In lust.

But Charles barely listens, hypnotized by the glistening skin of Carlos' stomach, reaching a hand to trace the lines on Carlos' abs. He draws a shiver out of his teammate, a strangled moan, and a visible bulge in his pants.

Charles' mind buzzes with alcohol and the heady feeling of getting this kind of reaction from Carlos. It's exhilarating. He wants more.

He puts his hand on Carlos' crotch. Carlos pushes him back, slamming him back against the bathroom door.

"Charles," he whispers. Another warning.

He sounds wrecked, shaking with desire, rendered helpless from a single touch from Charles. Charles feels all too powerful. He needs more.

"Don't play with me," Carlos says.

"You want this?"

A nod. A step forward. One of them (Charles doesn't remember who) has the presence of mind to lock the door. The click is loud even with the music blasting from the club.

They are alone and Charles' hands are all over Carlos' body, eliciting all sorts of reactions from him and reveling in them all. The power he has over him is heady.

Carlos kisses him, messy and hungry.

Charles' hand slides into Carlos' pants, his fingers wrapping around a hard and leaking cock. Carlos gasps.

It's so so exhilarating.

He gets closer, his pelvis grinding against Carlos' hip as he strokes faster and faster. He drinks in all the little gasps and moans that escape Carlos' mouth. He bites on that plump bottom lip as Carlos exhales and comes right into Charles' palm.

Album Review of the Week: The Monkees - Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd. (1967)☆☆☆☆☆

Pisces... marks the third release by the Monkees in 1967! It is also their second after seizing creative control and this album is one of their best as a unit. Every Monkee does some really great stuff here - even Peter! He's usually delegated more to the background but his complimenting vocals in Words are a really nice spotlight.

This album was released in November 1967 and it definitely holds influence of its time on the heels of the Summer of Love. Michael Nesmith gets really poetic and flowery especially with The Door Into Summer and Love Is Only Sleeping. Micky Dolenz goes psychedelic with Daily Nightly and Davy Jones even gets into the vaudeville revival that was popular at the time with Cuddly Toy! I would go so far as to say this album is a staple of culture when considering this era.

They weren't just following trends, either. Micky bought one of the first twenty Moog synthesizers ever made, making The Monkees the 2nd band to feature the instrument in a mainstream record (following The Doors with Strange Days just 2 months earlier). This instrument can be heard on Daily Nightly and Star Collector.

I always thought that Salesman sounded odd, like it was pitched up a bit. Other than that, it is a nice bouncy little tune with layered meaning in its lyrics as Michael Nesmith tends to do. I also like his little "yup, yup"s throughout.

She Hangs Out is also a fun ditty that is super fun to sing and dance to! Talking about little sisters seemed like quite a theme in the 60s!! Davy's vocals are especially good here too, a little more gritty than usual.

The Door Into Summer paints a story in a really beautiful way. Something about the melody and poetic lyrics draw me in, it harkens back to Salesman in a way too as it seems to illustrate that greed gets you no where in the end.

Love Is Only Sleeping brings us back to back Nesmith tracks and another really nice poetic one as well. This is definitely one for the angsty girlies, a nice uplifting and optimistic track!

Cuddly Toy was written by the famous Harry Nilsson, I always loved its bouncy tune and casual vocal delivery. The overall sound and production is very velvety, much like the curtains at a vaudeville show. Micky's backing vocals compliment Davy's very nicely, as always!

Words is a masterpiece among iconic tracks on this album. I will never forget hearing this for the first time at about 9 years old, not knowing that music could be this interesting! The structure of this song is amazing, the sly and mysterious verses, the building prechorus and angry yet contained chorus. Absolutely beautiful! The alternating vocals between Micky and Peter is such a great choice as well.

Davy continues to shine vocally in Hard To Believe. The song itself is relatively unremarkable considering its neighbors, but the vocals shine and I love the lounge-like instrumental. If the most plain song on your album is this good, you're in great shape.

What Am I Doing Hangin' 'Round is another standout among standouts. Nesmith is back to his country rock style that will become his signature sound. I love a story song and this one of lost love and chances is so much fun to sing!

Well, Peter Tork does end up with a solo with this spoken word interlude - Peter Percival Patterson's Pet Pig Porky. It is a wild collection of consonants and alliteration sandwiched between two major discography highlights!

Pleasant Valley Sunday is the hit of the album and very rightly so. Or as Paul McCartney featured on Donovan's hit Sunshine Superman would say, "quite rightly". This song's lyrics lament the rise of suburbia, although the tune always makes me picture a cute suburban Sunday and makes me want to fire up the grill! I suppose the juxtaposition is part of the point. The bridge of creature comfort goals..., was another childhood moment for me in the discovery of music. The bridge and the outro are both super interesting and give some great layers to this already great pop song to make it something more.

Daily Nightly is Micky's moment of indulgence - although certainly one of this better ones (looking at you, Shorty Blackwell). At this time, Micky was known for making up words as evidenced by the lyric a world that glitters glibly. His vocals are especially great here though, with the soft psychedelic melody pulling you in and ending with a bit of powerhouse.

Don't Call On Me fully leans into the dinner lounge vibe. You can almost feel yourself standing in a luxurious old Hollywood hotel when Mike's vocals roll in. They are much different than how we usually hear him, more subdued and intentionally charming.

The album closes with Star Collector. This song is absolutely wild with its "hello" and "bye bye, bye bye, bye bye" at the beginning and end, super bouncy instrumental and scathing account of a groupie! With lyrics like, how can I love her when I just don't respect her? this song is not beating around the bush in defining a certain portion of fans. I am not judging anyone, but it is definitely interesting hearing these things from a teen idol at the height of their fame!

This is definitely one of the Monkees' best albums and a great highlight from the 1960s in general. With the variety of music within, it touches nearly all the bases of popular music at this particular time without sounding too fragmented, as may be the case with later Monkees albums.

The first text that Galahad appears in is the Vulgate. His predecessors and legacy are first described in The History of the Grail; then he’s conceived, born, and raised during the Lancelot books; finally in Post-Vulgate he’s a knight on Grail Quest where he achieves his life’s purpose and passes away. Additionally, here’s A Companion to The Lancelot-Grail Cycle which may help you navigate the text.

Another book I suggest for your Galahad research is The Legend of the Grail by Nigel Bryant and Norris J. Lacy. It’s got a lengthy introduction about the history of the Grail story and touches on all the characters who’ve achieved it throughout Arthurian literary history including Perceval, Gawain, and of course, Galahad. Each chapter is taken from a different text and newly translated by Nigel Bryant for this publication. It’ll give you an idea of the progression of the Grail story which eventually led to Galahad and introduce you to some adjacent texts that may be of interest.

The next medieval text that includes Galahad is La Tavola Ritonda. It’s mostly a Prose Tristan story, but does cover the whole Grail Quest with a fun Italian Galahad named Galeazzo/Galasso. I enjoy this one a lot! Regarding Galasso specifically, it’s an interesting take on the character—he’s described as very gracious and he wields a cool named sword. Plus his purity grants him necromancy powers—at one point he convenes with the dead and doesn’t bat an eye. Just keeps on adventuring. Focused. In his lane. Pretty neat!

After that comes probably the best known Arthurian text, Le Morte d’Arthur by Sir Thomas Malory. I’ve attached the version of this story abridged by Keith Baines. It’s much easier to read with proper formatting to add quotation marks to dialogue and tighten up the prose. This one also comes with A Companion to Malory which I found exceedingly helpful in breaking down the sometimes convoluted plot threads and character dynamics present in Malory’s story. Many of the essays I’ve attached below relate to this text specifically.

Lastly I would be remiss to exclude The Arthurian Handbook by the goats Norris J. Lacy and Geoffrey Ashe. This volume not only covers medieval texts, but much of the art history that goes hand in hand with Arthurian literature too. There are many paintings, tapestries, stained glass windows, and murals featuring Galahad highlighted in this book. It also includes family trees, heraldry, and maps which can help you conceptualize things detailed in writing throughout the Vulgate.

Now I’m going to list essays without descriptions since there are so many and the titles are pretty self explanatory.
