I love that you drew the moment when Mario listens to Luigi's heartbeat! I honestly melted when I wrote it, and now seeing it brought to life in your beautiful style is truly making my heart swell 🥹 They both look adorable, and oh God, they're also singing the song??? Excuse me if I CRY 😭😭😭 Now I love it even MORE 🥹😭❤️💚

And all the many details in their bedroom! I see the Tanooki leaf and I LOVE it, as it's my most favorite power-up ever 🥹 The tennis rackets, and the sports posters, and the books! Luigi the Bookworm my beloved! 😍😍😍
This is seriously so well done and thought out! Thank you so much for this beautiful gift, @pepperycar, you're just so sweet 🥹 This is truly such a lovely surprise after everything I've been through! I honestly can't thank you enough 🫂🫂💖💖

Everyone go check out @silenzahra amazing story “Biggest fear” if you haven’t yet! I cry every time I read it, it’s my new comfort food.
Mario’s meant to be listening to Luigi’s heartbeat but I don’t think the picture quality shows it enough. 😅 also put a Tanooki leaf on their shelf since it’s my nightmare/comfort story headcannon that Mario hugs Luigi in the Tanooki suit whenever he has a nightmare about Bowsers wedding and the lava. 🦝

a little headcanon/short story I came up with as I was working on my little luaisy dump in context to this part:
Tumblr media
Daisy tends to grossly overestimate how strong Luigi is, simply because he is (in her totally unbiased opinion) one of, if not THE strongest person she’s ever met.
This drawing takes place when Daisy and Luigi’s relationship is still fresh. In the movie verse, she’s heard so many stories about the Super Mario Brothers and how they defeated Bowser, one of the biggest threats amongst all the kingdoms. What’s a few broken plumbers against some of her army, right?
Sarasaland citizens often pride their empire on having the toughest army. When Daisy and Luigi started hanging out more, she put his strength to the test by putting him against 20 of her troops.
It did not go well in the slightest
Mario quickly decided that Daisy was bad news, and it took a while for Luigi to change his mind by saying that she had her own twisted ways of showing affection and that she’s really pretty
@vulpixfairy1985 @itsavee4117 @peaches2217 @kelbreyworshipper @silenzahra (at your own time ♥️) @pepperycar @dragon-fly34 some Luaisy food for ye 🫖

Mhm, I see, I see :) So the reason Luigi cries and hugs Mario in the overview trailer is because when they first reach the Shipshape Island, Mario misses the jump and almost falls but Luigi saves him. Just like Mario saved him back in Peach's castle gardens when he accidentally ran off the cliff.
This is from the official Japanese website btw. Even if you can't read Japanese go check it out, it's so cool:

EDIT: Here’s the Doc! Bear with me, I’m new to multi-contributor files, but it should be open and ready for your contributions!
In the interest of keeping things easily accessible and not overwhelming @silenzahra during these first uncertain days, I’d like to organize a masterpost for all of her recovered content! We can post the titles and links as we find them, and she can access and reshare them as she finds the will and energy.
I’m thinking a Google Docs file with open editing permissions (which I can also save backups of to my own account regularly in case anything accidentally gets deleted on the OG file). What say y’all?

(Tumblr is dumb about tagging more than five people at a time, so feel free to share and tag more so this gets spread! Let’s gather and do our parts to help!)

Memory Reboot: A Super Mario Fanfiction
Uhm...
So basically I disappeared. BUT! I'm back, and i've got a brand new fanfiction for yall! Allow me to introduce: Memory Reboot.
Get yalls tissues ready because baby, this is gonna be a WILD ride.
Hey Mario mutuals + friends, wanna check out this sad story that came out of my bag of ideas? (I barely have the balls to ask-- my confidence took a vacation)
@stripetkattelalala54-gf @pepperycar @peaches2217 @nuctoria @bberetd @vulpixfairy1985 @silenzahra @keakruiser @supergay-64 @kelbreyworshipper @luigixfanxayjay @alex-procrastinates
Enjoy the story :)
(TW: death, gore [in which I suck at describing], etc.)
Wheezes and gasps were seemingly the only noises that escaped Mario's mouth. Each and every breath was painful as could be. His body ached, his head throbbed. Agonizing stabs of pain shot through his chest with every inhale.
The warmth of fresh blood that was his own stained Mario's fingers. He looked down at his trembling hand, his heart pounding in his ears. His vision was blurred, but he could make out the pale, almost translucent skin and the jagged edges of bone that poked through.
With a pained grunt, Mario forced himself to sit up, his back pressing against the cold, hard surface of the stone wall of the burning shop.
His eyes darted about, taking in the scene of devastation.
The once-thriving Toad Town was now a pile of ash and rubble, a few burning embers here and there the only signs of life. The wind howled through the streets, carrying with it the acrid stench of smoke and despair.
The air was thick with the smell of burning wood, charred metal, and something else; something much worse. It smelled like death.
A smell that-- albeit familiar-- felt so out of place.
It was the smell of fire, and the smoke that rose from it carried with it memories of warmth and comfort. But here, in this desolate wasteland that was once Toad Town, the smell was a cruel reminder of the destruction that had befallen them all.
Mario couldn't believe how much his life had changed in the past year.
Bowser had come and gone, leaving nothing but ruin in his wake. Instead of his usual childish antics of kidnapping the princess, he caused actual destruction to the Mushroom Kingdom, resulting in mass genocide of the inhabitants of the kingdom.
He destroyed the kingdom, annexed it's territories, overthrew the government--
Mario's face darkened as he reached into the collar of his shirt, tugging on the chain that rested there, the cold metal piercing against his burnt skin. He pulled it out, to reveal a ring, its golden surface a contrast to the silver one of the chain.
It was the engagement ring he had bought for Peach. He had never gotten the chance to give it to her. It was a symbol of a life that once was, filled with joy, hope, and love. Now, it felt like a taunt from the universe, a reminder of what he had lost.
He clutched the ring in his hand. Anger, along with pain and hurt surged through his veins.
He killed Peach.
He killed Peach.
The words echoed in Mario's mind like a never-ending nightmare, a dark truth that haunted his every moment. His thoughts raced back to the day when he had found her, lifeless in the wreckage of her castle, her once-beautiful eyes staring vacantly into the abyss. The flaming wreckage of Toad Town served as a twisted backdrop to the vivid memory, a stark contrast to the vibrant, bustling place it had been when Peach was alive.
She died with this kingdom.
So did---
Another sob erupted from his throat as he clutched the ring even harder. He could feel the heat from his hand begin to warm the metal, almost as if it was trying to burn away the memory.
His brother.
His fratellino.
The memory of his brother, Luigi, washed over him like a tidal wave. The laughter, the camaraderie, the competitions, the adventures they had shared together were now just echoes in the vast emptiness of his soul. The weight of his loss was so profound that it felt like a piece of him had been torn away, leaving a gaping hole that no amount of time could ever fill.
It was all his fault. He couldn't protect him. He couldn't protect them.
And now they were gone, and everything was falling apart.
Hope was gone, his friends were gone, the love of his life was gone, his brother was gone. He tried getting up, to put one foot forward despite the situation. After all, that's what he was known for. Never giving up, despite the circumstances.
But it was hard rising up, if it wasn't them he was rising for.
The weight of his body felt like it was pushing him down, gravity a cruel force that he didn't have the strength to fight. His legs wobbled like a newborn deer's as he tried to stand, the pain in his chest a constant reminder of the gaping wound in his heart.
He felt himself slowly succumbing to the pain, the guilt, the overwhelming sense of loss. Mario's body, weakened by the struggle to survive, could no longer fight against the relentless torment that gripped him. As his vision began to blur, his last glimpse was of the burning mess, the charred remains of what was once Toad Town.
It's time for a Memory Reboot.
Mario opened his eyes slowly, the previous blur of the world now forming to make objects in a hospital room. The familiar beeping of a heart monitor filled the air, and the smell of antiseptic cleanser assaulted his nostrils. He felt a vague sense of discomfort in his limbs, but overall, he seemed to be in one piece.
As he blinked, trying to adjust his eyes to the overwhelming brightness of the room, he spotted a flash of green pacing back and forth.
Mario's charred voice only came out as a croak, but it succeeded in it's task of getting the person's attention. His brother whirled around, his face a mask of worry and relief.
He hurried over to the bedside, his gaze darting between Mario and the monitors before settling on his brother's face. "You're awake," he breathed, immediately diving in for a hug. It was a tight, fierce embrace, as if he were afraid that Mario might disappear again if he let go. Mario returned the hug weakly, his body still aching from the ordeal.
"Sorry, bro. I-- I didn't mean to be so....forceful-" Luigi chuckled, his voice quivering with relief and unrevealed desperation. "It's just...I thought I'd lost you. And..." He trailed off, eyes darting away as he tried to compose himself.
Mario furrowed his eyebrows. Despite his fragile state, he reached a shaky hand up, and felt around gingerly. His shaking temporarily subsided as he found his brother's hand, clasping it tightly. "No. I--"
He drew in a raspy breath. His voice felt rough, unused. "I'm here, bro. I'm not going anywhere," Mario croaked. The reassurance didn't seem to help as much as he'd hoped. Luigi's face still bore the weight of worry and fear. It was then when he noticed his brother's own state. His overalls were tattered, stained with blood that was a mixture of both Luigi's, and presumably his own.
"Luigi...I'm sorry. I couldn't..." Mario trailed off, unable to finish the thought. He felt a stab of guilt as he looked at his brother. They had been through so much together, survived countless battles against Bowser and his minions. But this time, he had failed. He had failed to protect him.
Luigi squeezed his hand, a saddened smile tugging at his features. "It's not your fault, Mario. You did everything you could. And you're here now, and that's what matters. We'll get through this together, just like we always do." His voice was steady, reassuring, but it didn't quite reach his eyes. There was still a lingering sadness there, a sense of loss that Mario could feel even from across the bed.
There was a small bout of tense silence between the two.
"I'm sorry," Mario whispered, his voice barely audible above the beeping of the heart monitor. "For everything. For not being there when you needed me. For not protecting you." He paused, swallowing thickly. "I promise I'll make it up to you, Luigi. I'll make sure nothing like this ever happens again."
His brother turned to him once again, taking note of the small tears that were forming at the corners of his eyes. "It's not your fault, Mario. You don't have to apologize for that. I know that you would have done everything in your power to protect me, just like I would have done the same for you. That's what we're here for, right? To look out for each other?" he asked hopefully, taking his brother's hand and placing it to his chest.
Mario sighed, retrieving his hand-- a strenuous task that shouldn't have hurt as much as it did.
"You're right, of course. I just...I don't want to see you hurt, bro. Not again. And I can't help but feel like it's all my fault..." He trailed off, his voice barely audible over the rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor.
"I couldn't protect you..." he whispered, his voice cracking. "Mario, I-"
"No, Luigi." He was immediately cut off by his brother, shaking his head slowly. "I'm supposed to be the hero, remember? You don't have to protect me. You're.." his face darkened. "You're not supposed to see me like this."
There was a tense silence in the room, only interrupted by the beeps of the heart monitor, mixed with the scruffing of feet beyond the door as nurses and doctors walked by, unaware of the turmoil within.
Luigi glanced towards his brother, who had now turned away, not-so-subtly (despite what he hoped,) brought a hand up to his face to wipe the tears that had gotten past his desperate attempt to hide them. The silence grew heavier, the air thick with the unspoken words of regret and pain that neither of them knew how to voice.
His eyes scanned the beat-up body of his brother. The bruises, the burns, the scars. They told a story of pain and struggle. Struggle that he didn't deserve. Struggle that he had to endure, just because he wanted to be a hero. He just couldn't realize that he was already a hero. To him, to Peach, to-- the entire mushroom kingdom, even!
The pain of seeing his brother like this was unbearable. The guilt was like a heavy stone in his stomach, pressing down on him. Luigi sighed, gently sitting down on the edge of the hospital bed, his eyes never leaving the broken body of his brother.
"Mario, listen." The words barely whispered from his lips, as if afraid to disturb the quiet ambience of the room that seemed to amplify the sorrow. Mario's chest rose and fell in a rhythmic pattern, signaling that he was still there. Still fighting. Still holding on.
The soft sounds of sniffles betrayed Mario's attempt to ignore his brother, but Luigi already knew he was listening. He took a deep breath, steeling himself for what he was about to say.
"You are a hero, Mario. You always have been. And you always will be." His voice was a mix of sadness and admiration. "But you can't be the hero all the time. Sometimes, you need to let someone else save the day." He paused, his gaze never leaving Mario's. "And sometimes, you need to let yourself be saved." Mario's eyes remained closed, but a single tear trickled down his cheek. He knew his brother was right, but the weight of his own failure was too much to bear.
The room remained quiet, the only sound the steady rhythm of the heart monitor. The air was thick with unspoken words and painful memories. Mario felt the weight of his brother's gaze and the unshed tears that clung to his eyelashes. Finally, he took a deep breath and turned to face Luigi.
"I just-- don't want to lose you, Lui. You're all I have left, i-" Mario's voice broke off as he realized the gravity of his words. The room grew colder, and he felt a knot tighten in his chest.
Luigi's eyes grew misty, and he reached out to gently wipe the tear from his brother's cheek. "I know, brother, I know..."
He looked down, sighing before taking a thumb, gently brushing a tuft of his brother's tangled, bloodstained hair away from his face, giving him a gentle frown. "But you're losing yourself trying to save everyone else," he murmured, his eyes glistening. "We're a team, remember? And if you're not okay, then neither am I."
Mario's eyes fluttered open, meeting Luigi's concerned gaze. He couldn't bare seeing his brother like this, all hurt and in pain because of him. "L-Luigi, I'm so sorry," he managed to croak out. The words hung in the air, heavy with the burden of regret.
"Don't be, Mario," Luigi replied, his voice shaking slightly. "You've always been there for me, for everyone. It's my turn to be there for you now." He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. "We're going to get through this, I promise. We're going to get out of here, go back to the Mushroom Kingdom, and... and things will be like they used to be."
Mario nodded weakly, trying to believe the words that seemed too good to be true. The pain in his chest eased a bit, but the sadness remained. "What about Peach?" he asked, the question hanging in the air like a lead balloon.
Luigi swallowed hard, his grip on Mario's hand tightening.
"Peach..." he whispered, his voice cracking. "We'll save her too, I promise." The words seemed to hang in the air, heavy with a grief that neither of them could fully express. "But right now, you need to focus on getting better. You're not going anywhere, okay?"
Mario nodded, his eyes fluttering closed again. The exhaustion was overwhelming, but he knew his brother was right. He had to get better, for both of them. For Peach. For the kingdom.
As if on cue, the door opened, and the sweet, soft voice of the princess sounded, not long after the clicking of her heels was heard in the room.
"M-Mario!" Peach's voice was filled with relief and joy, and her eyes sparkled with tears as she rushed to his side. Her eyes took in his condition, and the smile on her face faltered, but she didn't let the sadness linger.
Her dress swished as she leaned over him, her hands reaching for his. "You're awake!" she whispered, her eyes searching for any signs of pain or distress.
Mario forced a smile through the pain, squeezing her hands back. "Hey Peach," he managed to murmur.
Her touch was gentle, but it sent waves of warmth through his body, easing the ache in his heart a little. "I'm so sorry," she whispered, her voice trembling. "I should have been there to help you both. I'm always getting myself into trouble, and I- i'm just so sorry..."
He could feel the regret and guilt in her voice, and he squeezed her hands tighter. "It's not your fault, Peach. It's never your fault."
The room grew quiet again, the only sounds the beeping of the heart monitor and the occasional sniffle from Peach as she held onto Mario's hand.
"You need to rest," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "We'll figure out what to do next after you're stronger."
Mario nodded, feeling the weariness seep back into his bones. The pain was a constant reminder of what he had lost, but the warmth of Peach and Luigi's hands was a gentle promise of what was still there. As his eyes closed, he felt a soft kiss on his forehead. "Thank you," Peach murmured, her voice thick with emotion. "For always saving me." Mario's chest tightened, and he felt a single tear roll down his cheek. "Always," he promised, his voice barely a whisper.
Luigi raised an eyebrow, a small smirk playing at the corners of his mouth. "Always the hero, huh?" He tried to lighten the mood, but the sadness remained in his eyes. "You know, you can't save everyone, Mario. And that's okay."
Mario's eyes searched his brother's, looking for any sign of anger or resentment, but all he found was love and understanding. He nodded, feeling the weight of the words sink in. "I know," he murmured. "But I had to try."
Peach leaned in closer, her voice soothing as she stroked his hair. "You did try, Mario. And we're all so grateful for that."
The room grew still once more, each lost in their own thoughts. The heart monitor beeped a solemn tune, echoing the somber mood. Peach's hand remained on his forehead, her warmth seeping into his skin, and Luigi's hand remained steadfast in his.
Mario felt the warmth of Peach's hand leave his forehead as she stood up to give him space. He could feel her gaze lingering on him, filled with an intensity that spoke volumes of her love and concern. She looked at him, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. "Rest now, my hero," she said softly.
She stood, before chuckling lightly again, going in to squeeze him once more.
The touch was warm, the comforting warmth of the touch began to get warmer, before it felt more like a burning sensation rather than an embrace.
Mario coughed, a warm liquid coming up and through his mouth.
Peach smiled, breaking apart from the hug and smiling, gently held her hero in her arms, her pink lipstick leaving a mark on his forehead.
The charred remains of his surroundings burned Mario's eyes as his eyelids trapped the ash between the two surfaces, allowing no possible chances for escape.
Mario's eyelids became half-lidded, causing Peach to giggle, placing another kiss to his cheek, her eyes sparkling with something other than tears. Genuine affection shone through her gaze, bringing a smile to her lips.
The burning metal of the chain that held her engagement ring seared his skin, as if trying to give him a message.
Peach played with his hair, running a hand through the tangled mess of fluffy brown hair.
His hair was charred, chunks of it falling down onto the ground.
She ran a thumb over his cheek, smiling softly as she caressed her boyfriend's features.
From his position slumped-over, his face touched the surface of the burning ground, the skin bonding with the rough surface of the pavement. He felt the intense heat, but no pain.
He felt his body betraying him as his eyes began to close. Peach smiled, her eyes sparkling with something that wasn't just love anymore. The warmth of her hands grew hotter, the pain grew more intense, and the smell of burning flesh filled his nostrils.
She leaned down, giving him one last kiss to the forehead, and whispered sweet nothings into his ear. But Mario felt something was off, a sense of unease that grew as the warmth of her touch grew hotter. He tried to speak, but no words came out, only a hoarse gurgle.
The world around him grew hazy, colors fading into a stark white. He heard the fading echo of Peach's laughter, the sound of her heels clicking away, and then... nothing. The burning ceased, and a cold, numbing emptiness took its place.
Mario's eyes snapped open, the sterile hospital room fading back to the grim reality of the ruined city. The smell of burning flesh and the sight of his charred hair and skin were extremely real now, and it hurt.
He yelped, trying to sit up, but a searing pain shot through his body, and he collapsed back onto the ground, gasping for what little air he could get through his burnt throat.
The pain was excruciating. Mario didn't know what was worse--his burns or the realization that he had been hallucinating the memories of his last moments with his girlfriend and his brother.
The stark white of the room was replaced by the cold, harsh light of day, piercing through the smoke and ash outside the shattered window. The walls of the hospital room had crumbled around him, leaving only a skeletal frame to hint at what once was.
He coughed, and the sound was wet and painful. The air tasted metallic, and he could feel the grit of dust and debris in his teeth.
Mario's eyes darted around the room, looking for any signs of life, any hint of color in the monochrome landscape of ruin. But all he saw was the stark contrast of light and shadow, the remnants of what once was.
He tried to sit up again, and this time, he managed it, hissing through his teeth as pain shot through his body. His eyes fell on his bandaged hands, the fabric stained with the dark crimson of his own blood.
With trembling legs, he stood, each movement sending jolts of pain through his body. The world outside was a blur of rubble and ash, but he had to get out.
Moving slowly, Mario stepped over the debris, the remnants of the shop crunching under his boots. The town was a maze of destruction, many buildings barely standing, but he had to find a way out.
He stumbled through the wreckage, the stench of burning metal and plastic thick in the air. Every step sent sharp jolts of pain up his legs, but he pushed through it, driven by a fierce determination to escape this nightmare. The once-familiar streets of the Mushroom Kingdom were unrecognizable, twisted into a landscape of destruction that seemed to stretch on forever.
Mario's heart raced as he searched for any sign of his friends or enemies--- or any life at all. But all he found were shadows and echoes. The only sound was the distant wail of the wind, carrying with it the whispers of lost lives and shattered dreams.
He paused, leaning against a crumbling wall for support, and took a deep, ragged breath.
The silence was deafening, the only sound the distant rumble of something unidentifiable. It could have been the remains of the world settling, or something more sinister stalking him through the ruins.
He pushed himself away from the wall and continued his trek, his eyes searching the horizon for the telltale spires of the castle he knew would be there. The castle he had sworn to protect, the castle that had become a symbol of hope in the face of unspeakable evil.
The journey was arduous, his body protesting with every step, but he had to keep moving.
Mario stumbled through the streets, his eyes scanning the horizon for the castle that had once been a bastion of hope. Now, it loomed over the city like a grim sentinel, a stark reminder of the fate that had befallen them all.
As he approached the castle gates, now twisted and melted, the sounds grew louder. The ground trembled beneath his feet, and the air grew thick with the acrid scent of something burning.
He forced his legs to move faster, ignoring the pain, driven by a primal instinct to find shelter and answers. The castle doors lay open, beckoning him into the bowels of the once-majestic fortress.
Inside, the grandeur of the castle was replaced by the horrors of battle. The walls were scarred by claw marks, the floor littered with the charred remains of his former enemies. The once-cheerful banners hung in tatters, the only color a sickly, charred black.
The castle was eerily quiet, the only sound of his own breathing echoing through the corridors. He moved carefully, his heart pounding in his chest. The rhythmic beats of his heart mixed with the sounds of his footsteps against the marble floors of the castle, creating a haunting melody of life amidst destruction.
Mario stumbled into what was once the grand hall, now a shell of its former self. The stained glass windows were shattered, casting shards of color across the floor that shimmered in the dim light. The throne, where Peach had once sat, was a blackened mess, the velvet cushions reduced to ashes.
He finally collapsed, the pain in his legs too much to bear.
The sight of the destruction brought back a flood of memories, memories of battles fought and friends lost. The echoes of their laughter and the warmth of their embraces seemed so distant now. He had failed them all.
Mario closed his eyes, and for a moment, he was back in the hospital room, the feeling of Luigi's hand in his.
Then, he was back in the fiery mess.
Once more, the familiar sight of the white hospital walls were seen, and the warmth of Peach's lips on his forehead was felt.
Yet, it was all just a memory, a flicker in the abyss of his consciousness that had been his reality moments ago. Mario's eyes snapped open, the starkness of the hospital room returning to the atmosphere of the destroyed castle, leaving him breathless and disoriented.
He mustered up the strength to lift his head, and glance up at the throne. The throne that he could’ve shared with Peach. The one where he would sit on, and rule over the kingdom that he loved so dearly.
Almost as dearly as how much he loved his brother, or better yet, his love.
But alas-- Mario supposed that it was just a Lost Memory.

If you were the wedding planner of a Luiasy wedding how would you arrange it? What would the location be? What would the theme of the wedding be? And what extras would you add towards the outfits of the bride and groom?
Aaaaahhh this took me forever to get to 😭 @kelbreyworshipper I’ll be real with you, when you sent me this ask, I was walking to my chem final, and I read your prompt and I was like “ummmmm 😳”

First of all, I’ve chosen this day in particular to post the becaaauuuseeee…
Tumblr media
Today (or yesterday wherever you are) is/was the one-year anniversary of my very first Luaisy drawing! BOY how far we’ve come. Now without further ado…
= LUAISY WEDDING =
This wedding was months in the making. Peach and Mario self-appointed themselves (even though it was obvious from the get-go) to the maid of honor and best man, so they worked tirelessly to ensure everything was perfect and better.
Each Mario lady had an essential part to play in this wedding:
Peach Maid of honor. Her role was to find the best venue for the wedding and send out invites to the Mushroom Kingdom and the other kingdoms within Sarasaland. But Peach being Peach with her overenthusiasm for weddings, carried 95% of the wedding planning and wedding day on her back. Of course, everyone gave her her flowers in the end. Mario definitely made sure she knew she was appreciated
Daisy was a 5'11" sack of nerves for her wedding, so Peach took it in her hands to calm her down, assuring her that it was completely normal to feel that way, and had to keep reminding her of how much Luigi loved her and that he wants this as much as she does. She also reminded Daisy that she should be elated because this is her special day. Peach would know all about it. ;)
Peach ran through the wedding, had multiple (maybe more than needed) rehearsals, and coordinated the wedding dinner that Daisy and Luigi would have.
Pauline Bridesmaid, wedding designer, and performer. I headcanon Pauline to be the most fluent in fashion and designing among the Mario ladies, and it was her who Peach took sewing up. Peach invited Pauline to a lot of her and Daisy's shopping trips for wedding dresses, getting her advice on what would suit her and Luigi's taste for their wedding day.
Pauline also performed at their wedding, doing solo performances, and then concluding with her band.
Rosalina Bridesmaid and vow writer. Even though Rosa is not a woman of many words, when she does have something to say, people are listening.
Out of the ladies, she's the biggest bookworm, spending time in her observatory reading and writing when she can. This makes her an amazing poet. All her close friends find it hard to believe that she doesn't have a significant other. She has shared some of her poems with her friends, and it was a wonder how none of them fell in love with her.
But Daisy called her up (or down) to help her write her vows, and Rosa was more than happy to help. She helped her organize her thoughts and feelings for Luigi and what their relationship truly meant to her. Rosa also helped to plan, outline, revise, and maybe wrote some parts of it herself.
She oversaw all parts of the writing process, yet, when Daisy recited those words back to Luigi on their wedding day, she reacted as if it were her very first time hearing it; tears in her eyes and hands clasped together. She was so proud.
Toadette Bridesmaid and master chef. And even better... free of charge! She was cooking up a storm with the help of other Toad chefs for Daisy and Luigi's special day. The two still provided her and her crew a very generous tip (Luigi is loaded here).
=====
Mario
Best man. With Mario and Luigi, it was pretty much the same story with Peach and Daisy, except Luigi was ten times worse. It took Mario a great deal of effort and convincing Luigi to not call off the wedding, just because of the mere thought of Daisy possibly having second thoughts.
Mario did everything a typical best man would do at a wedding and more, making sure everything was in order, and not a single detail was out of place. Right before, during, and after the wedding, he used at least 3 full rolls of tissue paper.
Another thing on the performance line-up... I'm gonna go ahead and yoink @silenzahra's musician bros hc and say that Mario does a surprise performance for Luigi and Daisy. It’s a song that is a testament to his and Luigi’s bond, which obviously immediately gets Luigi choked up.
As Mario was singing and playing the guitar, it felt so wrong for Mario to be singing their song on his own, so Luigi joined him on the stage, grabbing a mic left behind from Pauline's band group and singing alongside him. Cue forehead touches, and lots of hugging, crying, and ‘I love you’s.
====
Wedding Location and Theme
I 100% believe that their wedding would take place outside. Daisy and Luigi wanted a large, open space with a nice landscape view with not too many manmade buildings. So uh, Brooklyn was out of the question, not that they minded. Daisy decided to make use of the Chai Kingdom (one of the four Kingdoms in Sarasaland) and its naturistic feel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then the post-wedding dinner and performances would all take place here:
Tumblr media
(Basically, just imagine all of this but green and orange-themed lol)
As for the theme, I feel that they’d go with a fairytale-themed wedding! That, or a forest-themed wedding; green and orange are earthy colors, so I want their wedding to reflect that.
Again, yoinking @silenzahra's Luigi the bookworm hc, I’d like to think that one of the ways Luigi and Daisy grew closer was from reading together, and the National Book Days in Sarasaland. Once Daisy got more into reading, Luigi encouraged her to venture out in her castle’s library and find some genres that she liked. They both noticed that she seemed to gravitate towards stories that were more adventure-packed, as well as fairytales, mythological, and fictional stories. Daisy has a very active imagination and loves otherworldly visuals, so Luigi was more than happy to incorporate that into their wedding theme.
The bridesmaids and maid of honor are decked in golden dresses (for ya girl), and the groomsmen and best man are decked in emerald green (for ya boy). For the wedding guests’ attire… there is not a single trace of black to be found! The wedding looked like a rainbow that threw up all the colors in the visible spectrum.
====
Have some drawings of the important people! (and my wacky attempt to shade gold material)
Bridesmaids: Pauline and Rosalina
Tumblr media
To honor Pride Month… let’s just say Rosa is looking for that special someone… right beside her ;)
Lumas
Tumblr media
I’m adding the Lumas (plus Lumalee of course!) to be the flower children! The wedding would be decked with 75-100 lumas of all different colors and purposes. They would be the ambiance for the wedding, especially when the sun sets, and at nighttime. The wedding would still use fairy lights in case the Lumas didn't cooperate (was never an issue). But... just imagine dozens of bright moving lights with sparkles trailing behind them in the night sky.
Groomsmen, Ring Bearer, Maid of Honor and Best Man (tumblr has me on a pic limit here 😮‍💨): Wario, Waluigi, and Toad; Yoshi; Mario and Peach
Tumblr media
Yeah, Wario and Waluigi were invited, as long as they promised to behave. And if not, Daisy and her family will set em straight… and Mario if they even dare think about ruining his baby brother’s day. The two weren’t so fond of the dress code at first, but they sucked it up. Eventually, emerald green grew on them.
Wario: I look like a leprechaun!
Waluigi: Wah! How bad can this possibly be? (Iykyk)
Also, the tie Mario is wearing was handcrafted by Luigi when they were kids. ;’)
And of course…
Bride and Groom: Daisy and Luigi
Tumblr media
She on dem high heels 🤭
I also really wanted to draw Daisy’s dad sending her off. I absolutely LOVE @itsavee4117’s interpretation of him (aka King “Marshmallow” Cris), so I’m yoinking him here toooo~
Tumblr media
====
Post-Wedding
Like I said earlier, plenty of food will be provided by Toadette and her crew, and there will be endless games. They would mostly be Mario Party-styled, but there would also be some sports like tennis or mini-golf. That all happens after the newlyweds have their dance and cake. Let’s just say for an itty-bitty second of time, they recreate the dance of all dances.
After all the fun has been had, the two are driven into the moonlight by Toadsworth with a “JUST HITCHED” sign on the back of his Parade Kart from MK Double Dash. They’d be transported in this very familiar fashion.
Tumblr media
;)
====
And that’s it! Hopefully I didn’t make the wedding seem too boring or sane for them, or made anything out of character for them. I know I did a lot more than you asked for, but I had way too much fun with it lol. Wanted to do our beloveds justice to the fullest. Let me know what you guys think, and feel free to add on to it!

I'm sorry that I didn't get to read this in time, but I sincerely enjoyed it! There's so much love and sweetness and care here, my God 🥹❤️💚
First of all, poor Mario pushing himself to NOT sleep as he needed to make sure his brother was okay and would rather spend the nights awake and watching him... Mario, my God, you NEED to sleep 😭 Thank God he at least could do so in the nights Luigi would ask for cuddles. Gosh these two 🥺 Only being able to sleep soundly when they're together, I just— I need a moment... 😭
I LOVED all the part of Mario preparing Luigi's gift and asking Peach for help, and I adored the little scene between the two! Of course Luigi would tease his bro 🤭 And awwww Mario's present was so sweet and tender, and it also sounds so comfy! Luigi deserves it indeed 🥹 And not him saying it feels like a hug from Mario, oh my GOD 😭💚❤️
And then... the mirror.
THE MIRROR.
My friend, the way I SQUEALED when I read that part. Mario gifting it to Luigi and then Luigi turning it to Mario, only for Mario to remind Luigi that he is, in fact, a hero... Gosh, the way these two love and admire each other always makes me so WEAK 😭😭😭
I feel so bad for poor Luigi though! I'd say, what happened to him with the mug he got for his brother could've happened to me too, so I completely understand how he feels 😢 Thank God Mario would be there to comfort him, and I loved the way Luigi comforted him back when Mario finally voiced his fears and nightmares...
The last scenes totally did not make me cry, oh God 🥹 I love how in your fics, the brothers are always feeling each other's heartbeat just to make sure the other is perfectly fine. It's just so tender and heartwarming... just like that last sentence from Mario, oh God 🥹 The way these two love each other, I can NEVER get over it 😭❤️💚
This was a wonderful read and a perfect way of celebrating our favorite brothers' birthday! Congrats for such a great story, my friend! 👏👏💖💖
For Mario and Luigi’s birthday. @silenzahra @vulpixfairy1985 @bberetd @itsavee4117 @peaches2217 @megamagimugi @jelly-fish-wishes @roscolate @pianokantzart @keakruiser gets a bit emotional at the end sorry. 😅🎂
“The greatest gift”
The relief both brothers felt when they were reunited was impossible to explain. Mario had walked three whole days through a new world, not knowing where Luigi was or if he was okay. He felt a great fear in his heart that he would never see his beloved baby brother ever again.
Luigi on the other hand, spent his three days above boiling lava, in a hot metal cage, sweat mixed with tears as he wondered where his dear big brother could be and if he’d ever see him again. When Cranky Kong told Luigi that Mario had died on Rainbow Road he swore his heart stopped, he felt devastated, feeling he had no reason left to live.
That’s why, when both brothers finally reunited, feeling all the love, longing, desperation and fear as the two hugged, they made a mental promise to the other that they wouldn’t let anyone take each other away again. All though now, Mario might’ve made his promise a little stronger because the night after they finally were back in their shared bedroom was when everything started to go wrong.
The first night was ok. Mario and Luigi fell asleep in Mario’s bed, Luigi close to him and giving Mario some much needed reassurance. But the next night Luigi went to sleep in his own bed and it was that night that the paranoia started. Mario awoke with a gasp, nearly screaming as he had a horrible nightmare. That he didn’t save Luigi from the lava or Bowser, that he was.. too late. Mario rushed other to Luigi’s bed to check him and the relief he felt seeing that he was okay nearly matched that of when he Saved Luigi.
Mario tried to go back to sleep after that but he couldn’t. Every time he would start to drift off, he would see Luigi dying in his dreams. It was from then on that Mario decided he would keep a watchful eye on Luigi at all times, day and night and of course that meant no falling asleep. Mario barely ever got more than maybe an hour of sleep a night and it somehow got worse when they moved to the Mushroom Kingdom. Every little noise he would hear while watching over Luigi’s sleeping body, he’d immediately assume that a Toad walking by or a broken twig was Bowser coming to take Luigi away from him again.
Mario’s sleepless mind’s one saving grace was that whenever Luigi had nightmares, he’d ask Mario to cuddle him. And before he could even finish asking, Mario would be by his side instantly and pull his body close to his, those were the only times Mario ever got a good nights sleep. Part of Mario always felt guilty that deep down his exhausted mind would secretly hope for Liuigi to have nightmares so he could have an excuse to hold him close and to finally get a good night sleep. But he felt good that he’d always be there the second his little brother needed comforting.
They’ve been living in the Mushroom Kingdom for a few months now, that night was the same as all the others. Mario was sitting on their desks stool, keeping a watchful eye on Luigi making sure he had a peaceful sleep. Instead of sleeping Mario tended to “zone out” until he heard a noise outside or chaught Luigi turning in his sleep.
Mario snapped back to reality as he heard Luigi shuffle under the blankets. Worried he was having another nightmare, he stood up ready to comfort him. But he noticed Luigi’s shaky breaths and movements weren’t necessarily out of fear, since his face was still peaceful as he slept. He went to reach out and touch Luigi’s shoulder. Luigi’s eyes suddenly snapped open and Mario quickly backed up so he wouldn’t see him. “M-Mario?” Luigi asked only lazily moving his eyes around.
Mario sighed with a smile “Mario, you awake?” Luigi asked again in a sleepy tone. “Y-yeah.. I’m awake.” He said as he approached Luigi’s bed again “you okay? What’s wrong?” Mario placed his hand on Luigi’s shoulder “hmmm s’ddnly r’lly c’ld..” he muttered “can.. can I have a hug?” Mario smiled and rubbed his shoulder “yeah of course, scooch over.” Mario climbed into Luigi’s bed and wrapped his arms around him protectively and pulled him close, Luigi snuggling in closer, laying his head on his big brothers chest. Usually Luigi would be very shaky and panicked for the first few minutes that Mario hugged him. But this time the shakes only lasted a few seconds, his breathing calm and from were Mario had his arms wrapped around him could feel that his heartbeat was slow and steady.
Mario sighed in relief and let himself rest ‘Poor Lu..’ Mario thought ‘I didn’t realise how much the Mushroom kingdoms fall season would affect him- wait.. fall season?’ He glanced over at their wall calendar and saw that the last day checked was September 30th. October was starting tomorrow.. wait tomorrow?! Mario and Luigi’s birthday was in October! Mario hadn’t even realised! That’s it. Mario was grateful for this pleasant sleep he’d get because fist thing in the morning, Mario would start thinking of and looking for a good birthday present for Luigi.
~~~~~
The next day while Luigi was off to get some more plant food and seeds for his garden, Mario made his way into Toad Town. He aproached each stall scanning the contents carefully. There were Power-Ups, ornaments, NES cartridges, maybe Mario could get Luigi a puzzle game so they could play together on his NES more often and have Luigi actually have a chance at winning for once. He approached a stall selling different types of pets, some Biddy-Bugs, baby piranha plants and some multi coloured Cheep-Cheeps. Maybe a pet would be good for Luigi to have keep him company whenever Mario was out or visiting Peach.
The Biddy-Bugs and Cheep-Cheeps seemed like the safest choice so he asked the Toad running the stall. “Oh yeah sure! The Cheep-Cheeps are super friendly.” Said the Toad. Mario went to a small fish tank full of Cheep-Cheeps only for them all to snap at him, some spiky purple ones showing him sharp teeth. “Super friendly once you get to know em..” the Toad nervously chuckled. Okay so maybe not a pet..
Mario ended up going to the castle to see if Peach had any ideas. As Mario entered, Luigi was leaving the castle gardens with his new garden supplies. “Oh hey bro!” Luigi smiled “did you need something?” Mario froze for a second “Oh uh- no I just- I was just giving the Princess a visit..” there, that’s a good enough lie. Luigi raised an eyebrow with a big teasing smirk on his face “okaaay. Let me know how your date goes!” Luigi called walking past him “LU!” Mario grumbled as Luigi let out a little giggle before running off. ‘Note to self, get revenge on Luigi after our birthday.’ Mario thought as he walked through the main hall.
He and Peach ended up sitting in the castle gardens gazebo sharing a cup of Tea with each other. “So I want it to be something really special.” Mario had said. Peach thought for a moment about the ideas he’d told her before forming a small smile on her face “you know Moustache, maybe it only needs to be a simple gift, sometimes less is more.” She smiled. Mario nodded feeling more confident.
“Thanks Princess. Luigi means so much to me and after everything he’s been through this year, he really deserves the best birthday ever..” an idea then started to form “uh Princess?” Mario asked refilling his teacup “do you know any good tailors?” Peach smiled “I think I can help you that Mario. In fact I’m sure I can have them get it done by Friday.” “Really? You’d do that for me?” Mario asked amazed. He started reaching into his pocket to get his wallet “how much will it-“ But he was cut of by Peach holding her hand in front of him “there’s no need for that Moustache. You and Luigi are the heroes of my kingdom, it’s the least I could do” she smiled.
Mario went and tucked his wallet back into his pocket, Peach was smiling at him fondly “W-What?” Mario asked, a blush forming on his face “Oh! Uh nothing!” Peach said looking away as she now started to blush “I was just thinking about how lucky Luigi is to have you as his brother. To him you’re probably the best brother in the world.” Mario’s blush deepened “Th-thank you Princess..” he scratched the back of his head nervously before another idea came to mind. Peach smiled, she could see the cogs turning in his head “I uh, have got some things to get done..” he blushed. Peach nodded “good luck with the gifts Mario.” She smiled as he nodded and left through garden gate.
~~~~~
It was a cold Autumn evening, Mario had got everything ready and should be getting a call from the Tailors by morning. Thanks to the nights being colder, Mario actually managed to got a few good night sleeps since he was cuddling Luigi to keep him warm and Luigi kept asking if it was ok to keep hugging. Mario didn’t need to answer as he slid into bed and would wrap his arms around him before giving him a kiss on the forehead, willing the warmth of the gesture to warm Luigi up on the inside as well as the outside.
Luigi was cuddled up next to Mario, his hands keeping a firm yet gentle grip on Luigi as he felt him self doze off. Luigi’s head was laid on his brothers chest, being lulled to sleep by Mario’s slow and steady heartbeat. He felt Mario take a deep breath then relax prompting Luigi to nuzzle in further. Luigi was having trouble sleeping, mainly because he felt guilty about asking to use Mario as a heater every night, it was probably so annoying. He guessed that Mario wasn’t getting any sleep because of it which made Luigi feel even more guilty because these cuddles with Mario were probably the best sleeps he’d had since moving to the Mushroom Kingdom.
Every night since moving, he’d have horrible nightmares unless Mario hugged him, some worse then others but still feeling guilty whenever he felt Mario slide into bed next to him and pull him close. Why did he deserve such an amazing big brother? He’d seen the bags under Mario’s eyes yet even when he had insisted he wasn’t cold, Mario wouldn’t buy any of his lies and still comfort and warm him. How much sleep was he getting with Luigi’s stupid shivering?
Luigi tried to let his mind wander, glancing around the room until his eyes landed on the calander. October.. wait October?! Luigi leaned over Mario and checked his phone.
10:00 PM Thursday October 9th.
‘October 9th?!’ He thought starting to worry. He didn’t have a present ready! He had been so busy worrying about Mario getting a good sleep and trying to figure out ways to help him along with the plumbing, he didn’t even realise the month! ‘Mario’s gonna hate me if he sees I didn’t get him anything for our birthday!’ Luigi thought frantically. No.. Mario was way too nice to ever be mad at Luigi, but knowing that made Luigi’s guilt feel even worse. His great big brother, who had saved his life, even though he wasn’t worthy of being remembered, let alone rescued was not going to have anything on their birthday! ‘I.. I still have time!’ Luigi thought with a confidence he didn’t really have. First thing tomorrow, he could do this, one last chance to make things right.
Luck was not on Luigi’s side however as all of Toad Towns stalls closed early on a Friday. Desperate he pulled out his phone and did some online shopping. Everything on their was either to expensive (he and Mario shared a bank account, so he didn’t wanna waste his brothers hard earned cash.) or wouldn’t arrive until the day after their birthday. Luigi texted their Mum with worry, asking for any ideas. She suggested getting something from the house or if not that then maybe the thrift shop down the road. She had said that Mario will love whatever he got him and to not worry about getting it to late. Luigi sighed as he realised he’d have to take his mum’s advice.
Luigi settled on a mug he’d seen in the thrift shop window, the store was closing when he got there so he quickly asked the woman closing the door if he could buy the mug in the window. The lady told him that her boss didn’t let anyone in after 4 PM with the colder weather being more frequent but she said she could mark the mug as sold and hold onto for him so he could collect by morning. That would have to do he guessed..
The next morning, October 11th, super early, Luigi carefully crept out of Mario’s arms as to not wake him before sneaking out the kitchen and to the front door. It was half past seven, he had a good thirty minutes before Mario woke up. He rushed his way through Brooklyn, to the thrift shop, bought the ten dollar mug and started heading back to the warp pipe. The Mug was a generic white with big black letters reading: #1 BOSS! Luigi pulled out a red pen from his pocket and scribbled out BOSS! And put BROTHER! Underneath it.
Luigi while holding the mug close started running back home. He ran through the Mushroom Fields, past Toad Town and was almost army the house, only for a Buddy-Bug (presumably escaped from the near by farm) ran in front of him. Luigi tripped just outside the house falling flat on his face from how fast he ran.
When Luigi pulled himself up he felt his heart break into a million pieces just like the mug before him. From wher he held the mug he ended up getting scratches across his top and overalls but only a few scratches. He felt something wet on his hand and looked down to see his right palm was cut from the porcelain shards. He hissed in pain as he took his glove off and then tried to pull the small chunk out of his palm. A tear slipped down his cheek as his hand stung and his other hands glove started to get drops of blood on it. Luigi quickly hid his hand when he heard the front door open. Oh god.. oh no, not now!
Luigi felt a hand cupping his cheek “Lu?.. Lu! Are you okay?!” Mario nearly shouted as he saw specks of blood on Luigi’s gloves. ‘Mario shouldn’t be worrying. Can’t he see that I just ruined his gift?’ Luigi thought sadly as Mario checked his one hand the the slightly bloody one. “Luigi, how did..” Mario stopped his thoughts when he saw the mug shattered on the ground, three big chunks of it were close enough for him to Read the message, his face softened when he saw the: BROTHER! In Luigi’s rushed writing. “N’aww Lu..” Mario smiled softly. He pulled Luigi to his feet then carefully guided him into the house, he sat Luigi on the end of his bed as he went to go grab the first aide kit from the kitchen cupboard.
He removed the small chunk and the smaller (almost like glass) pieces of porcelain before dipping it into a glass of water then putting on some disinfectant, when he saw the blood wasn’t clotting he wrapped some gaze around it before quickly leaving to put everything back and wash his hands. When he came back he climbed onto his bed and scooted close to Luigi. “You okay now?” Mario asked seeing some tears in his brothers eyes. Luigi responded with a little whimper before nodding. Mario looked around trying to find something to take Luigi’s mind off of everything. Then he remembered.
“C’mon” Mario said putting a hand on Luigi’s shoulder “get yourself out of those bloodied up overalls and into something more comfortable.” As Luigi went and got himself some clean green sweatpants to throw on, Mario leaned over his bed a pulled something out from under his pillow. Luigi chucked his overalls in the washing basket before turning around only to be surprised to see Mario holding a present and something else behind his back.
Luigi sat next to Mario and slowly took the gift from his hand. He untied the rope ribbon then unwrapped the green wrapping paper to reveal a sweater. It was the same green as Luigi’s shirt, pn the back in dark green writing was a big number one and on the front.. LUIGI NUMBER 1 BRO! With Luigi’s face next to the writing with a big happy smile on his face. Luigi let out a breath he didn’t realise he was holding when he felt Mario’s hand rest on his shoulder.
“D’you like it Lu?” Mario asked tensing up slightly. Luigi could only nod before pulling his shirt off and replacing it with sweater. It was warm and fluffy “F-Feels like getting a hug from you..” Luigi muttered, a tear falling down his cheek. “Peach knew some really good tailors.” Mario smiled.
Luigi turned to hug and thank Mario only to be surprised at the thing Mario was holding in his hands. A green picture frame with little stick-on heart shaped gems, white lines going through it, shaped like vines then at the top, in white colouring said: MY and at the bottom said HERO and in the middle of it all was a mirror where Luigi saw his own face looking back at him.
Luigi stared at his reflection as Mario handed it to him. Luigi sighed and said “i think you bought this for the wrong person..” before turning it around so Mario could see his own reflection. Mario smiled and shook his head “no you’re definitely the right person, you’re my hero Lu and in more ways then one.” Luigi looked at the mirror then at Mario “I didn’t do much compared to what you’ve done. I picked up a manhole cover and that’s about it-“ was all Luigi got out before Mario interrupted “you saved my life, you’ve always been there for me no matter what and have put up with my brash decisions every time.. you’re my hero Luigi and I owe my life to you. Maybe more.”
Luigi felt his cheeks blush before Mario continued “after all those terrible nights.. I’m so glad I get to give these to you.” Luigi smiled as Mario’s words registered in his brain.. wait. Terrible nights? Luigi glanced up at Mario “Have-Have you been having nightmares too?” Luigi said looking Mario in the eyes. It wasn’t a question and Mario’s stunned silence was enough to answer. Mario sighed “E-Every night.. since IT happened I.. ive has these horrible dreams about me being too late, not saving you and having to watch you die over and over again.. it got so bad I decided that-that sleeping wasn’t worth it but I couldn’t tell you about it because.. you had suffered way was then me and I-I didn’t want to burden with my problems. The only times I ever got a good night sleep was whenever we cuddled knowing I could hear and feel you. Knowing that you were there, y’know?”
Luigi let the words sink in before saying “Is-Is that why you always left the desks stool in the middle of the room? Because you were-“ “watching over you. Yes.” Mario finished. Luigi felt guilty again, how could he not see that Mario had needed comfort? More so than him. Luigi Looked away guiltily. He felt Mario cup his cheek. “Luigi..” Mario sighed. Luigi refused to look him in the eye.. “Lu.” That did it, hearing his nickname got Luigi to Look up at Mario. Luigi started to sob.
“I-I’ma so sorry bro!” Luigi cried nuzzling in To Mario’s collarbone “I-I was afraid th-that asking you for comfort from or nightmare or more re-recently from the cold was keeping you awake! And no, you’re not a burden bro. You deserve the world and more. You saved my life so the least I could do would be to comfort you. I always sleep better in your arms anyway..” Luigi sniffed as he nuzzled closer. “You deserved the best birthday and I ruined it! You had to waste you morning helping me and-and while you got me these amazing gifts, I couldn’t get you one and the one I did get you was trash compared and to top it all off I broke it!-“
“Luigi!” Mario yelled scaring Luigi into shutting up. His face softened and he spoke a lot calmer “Lu.. you don’t have to get my anything for our birthday. The fact that I nearly lost you.. I felt that you deserve this birthday more then me because.. you almost didn’t get to have it.” Mario took a deep breath, pulling Luigi closer before he continued.
“since this month began, the nightmares have been worse because not only do I not save you, not only do I watch you die but these dreams are longer with me having to see what my life is like without you. And.. when our birthday comes around I can’t bring myself to be happy because you’re not there! Sometimes I’d see you as a ghost but you would just stare at me. Sometime sad, scared or angry. And I could never bring myself to say sorry because I didn’t deserve your forgiveness! Every night in my dreams, I’d have to live with the fear that I’d never get to say happy birthday or merry Christmas to you ever again! I don’t need a birthday gift, I just need to know that you’re alive and well, that’s more then enough for me.”
Luigi’s eyes widened before softening to take Mario’s hand “Mario.” Luigi started, staring directly into his eyes “If I had died that day I would never hate you or be angry with you, I know you would’ve tried everything in your power to save me and just being able to know that you didn’t die on rainbow road, that you had a second chance to keep living after my mistake with the warp pipe would be more then enough for me to die happy. I’d only be sad because I didn’t get to apologise myself or say goodbye and if I really did appear as a ghost.. I’d protect you, love you as you deserve to be. I could never hate you Mario even in death and I’d never leave you.”
Luigi gently took Mario’s hand and placed it flat on his chest. He heard Mario gasp as he felt his heart thumping under his palm “Just know that I’m here now. I love you and I’d never leave you. May we have many more birthdays together and.. happy birthday Mario.”
Mario sighed deeply before looking into Luigi’s eyes, pulling their foreheads together. Luigi could see what Mario was thinking through his eyes. ‘I was also afraid I’d never hear you that that again either.’ Mario and Luigi sighed as Mario pressed his palm deeper into Luigi’s chest. Luigi felt his heart give a little jump before going back into a slightly fast but steady rhythm. He pulled Mario up to the head of the bed and they both snuggled under the blanket. Mario moving his hand away and placed his head against Luigi’s chest in its place.
Mario smiled as a final tear slipped from his face. “Happy birthday Luigi.. and I love you too.. you’re the greatest gift I could ever ask for.
-The End.
Phew 😅 that took me longer then I expected it too. But I hope you all enjoyed nonetheless! 🎂

⚡ An electrical aura ⚡
Ah, it feels so good to be back with a new story after so long! 😌
As I mentioned here, in this fic you will find one of my favorite topics to consume in any kind of fanwork:
✨⚡ Protective Luigi ⚡✨
I would've liked to post this story a couple of days ago to coincide with Mario and Luigi's birthday (even though the story has nothing to do with the date itself) as a way of celebrating their bond as brothers that we all love and adore so much 🥹💚❤️
Still, I'm glad I can share it now as this is one of the many fanfics I've been planning to write... for more than a year 😶
And at long last, here it is! 😄
@pepperycar @bberetd @vulpixfairy1985 @megamagimugi @roscolate
@peaches2217 @zocchini37 @itsavee4117 @keakruiser @multicolour-ink
@dragon-fly34 @eleventhhourfactor @stripetkattelalala54-gf @kelbreyworshipper @doodleydoo101
@c-lavanda @teegeeteegee and anyone else who might be interested: hope you enjoy! 💖
And as always: you can keep reading under the cut if you'd like! 👇
(Please remember that likes, comments, kudos, reblogs and any kind of feedback is always more than welcome 🥰)
⚡ An electrical aura ⚡
TW: Blood, violence (not too much though)
Luigi doesn't like being separated from his brother.
It was hard enough having to leave him behind when he got sick to go in search of the antidote. Luigi swallows as he remembers how scared he was when he saw Mario's skin turn green after consuming that strange mushroom and how his feet practically flew to the Mushroom Kingdom embassy, carrying his twin in his arms, to take him to the princess and try to get him help.
This time, however, at least Luigi has the comfort and relief of knowing that his brother is safe, even if he’s not at his side.
The moment they came across that first barred door, Luigi immediately understood that his twin wouldn’t have a chance to follow him, that he’d have to go on alone and that Mario would have to find his own way. Luigi gave him a glance full of consternation and, for a very brief moment, his brother returned exactly the same look. Before, of course, forcing himself to hide it so as not to show discouragement in front of his little brother and, instead, give him a reassuring grin.
Luigi smiles to himself as a pleasant tenderness spreads across his chest and warms his heart. That's his big brother: always ready to appear strong and confident to protect his younger sibling and not to worry him, all with the purpose of preventing Luigi’s anxiety from getting any worse.
Looking around, Luigi puts his hands to his chest in some sort of reflex action, trying to keep the warmth that the thought of his brother brings up inside him. For, not to his luck, everything around him is ice and more ice. Joke’s End is an inhospitable, deserted, cold place. It certainly serves its purpose of functioning as a kind of graveyard for jokes, for while the other places in the Beanbean Kingdom that he and Mario have visited had much more cheerful names and were also full of life, this place is far from the mainland and, except for the monsters and that strange blue girl with the scepter that has greeted them, it’s also the loneliest place in the entire kingdom.
Luigi hugs himself as he continues looking at his surroundings with a parched throat and a sense of dread growing inside him. He’s never felt so alone in his entire life.
He only hopes that this ordeal is about to end. He followed the path marked by the place itself, hit the necessary blocks and battled alone against various monsters, despite the insecurity produced by not having his twin with him so that they could perform their combined attacks.
Not to mention the several occasions on which he’s been able to see Mario through a barred door without either of them finding a way to bridge the distance between them. All those times, Luigi has clung to the bars as if he could make them disappear in his fingers so he could finally be reunited with his brother, and Mario hasn’t hesitated to approach him and place his hands on his twin’s, gazing at him affectionately while he gave him words of encouragement and, again, smiles filled with confidence.
“Soon we'll be together, Lu,” he assured him, and Luigi could practically touch the certainty that permeated every word his brother spoke. “We'll soon find a way, you'll see.”
Despite his anxiety and his many insecurities, Luigi has never doubted Mario. He always believes in his promises, unquestioningly, because he knows that his twin wouldn't tell him if he didn't truly believe in them and if he wasn't willing to do everything in his power to keep them.
And he always does. Mario has never, ever failed Luigi. Not once in their entire lives.
Therefore, Luigi trusts. He trusts Mario blindly, just as he has since the day they were born, and he’ll continue to trust him until the day he dies.
So that's what keeps him going: the certitude that Mario's words will come true sooner or later. The assurance that everything his brother tells him is as true as the sun will always rise at the end of the darkest night and the light will shine again. Just as bright as Mario’s smile.
This time, whether they manage to reunite depends on a strange puzzle that, once again, they must solve by working together, even though they’re physically separated. This is not the first time, of course: when they’ve seen each other through barred doors, it’s been because they had to hit twin blocks in unison in order to activate different mechanisms, and there have even been times when they haven’t been able to see one another but have felt each other's presence through the thick walls of ice that make up Joke’s End.
As Luigi hits this last block, he hears a sound coming from outside. Both he and Mario have just crossed walkways that ran parallel to each other and converged at two different doors in the building, and they’ve helped each other to move forward until they’ve reached, at least in Luigi's case, a dead-end room. After hitting the block, Luigi retraces his steps towards the walkway he has just crossed and discovers that a frozen bridge has emerged between the two.
“Yes!”
Luigi can't and won't hold back the squeal of relief and excitement that bubbles up from his throat. Without wasting any time, he runs across the footbridge to cross to the other side and begins to follow the path that Mario must have taken. He wonders if he’ll bump into his sibling, if he too has started running, if he’s as eager as Luigi is to hold him in his arms. The smile on the younger plumber’s face widens, for he’s sure that Mario feels the same way. He’s about to join his big brother in a tight embrace, and this time, he won’t let Mario get away from him again.
Then, as he climbs up some latticed platforms, a high-pitched scream rings in his ears and is suddenly cut off.
Due to the surprise, Luigi almost stops in his tracks as he feels how the air escapes from his lungs and an icy fist grips his heart. And it has nothing to do with the cold prevailing in the place.
It only takes him a moment, however, to resume running, giving his legs more speed.
“Mario!”
He leaps over some ice blocks and manages to reach the next room. He skids across the ice when he realizes that he’s at a high location and that, to his right and left, there are two sets of steps leading down to the bottom of the room.
And down there, right in the middle, is Mario.
The blood runs cold in Luigi's veins as he discovers his brother lying on the ground, completely motionless, with traces of dirt on his clothes and a red stain crowning his forehead, his hat fallen just short of his head. With a horrified gasp, Luigi doesn't give it a second thought: he runs to the edge of the step, bends down and jumps, landing in a crouch a short distance from where Mario lays. He moves practically on all fours towards his twin, his heart pounding in his chest and his eyes so wide that he thinks they'll end up popping out of their sockets.
“Mario,” he mumbles in a nervous whisper.
He carefully places a hand under Mario's head and slowly lifts him up as he slides his knees under his body to try to give him some comfort. He pulls him closer as he continues to whisper his name, but his brother does not respond. There’s blood on his neck and one of his knees, Luigi notices. Feeling the anguish growing inside him, he examines the crimson stain on Mario's forehead, as it seems to be the most serious wound. His white glove is immediately covered in red. Wheezing, Luigi raises his hand in front of his face and stares at it, blinking in awe, as if his brain is having trouble processing what his eyes are seeing.
Mario's blood coats Luigi’s fingers.
The distress that floods him begins to transform, little by little, into something different. Something that causes small sparks of electricity to sizzle around him.
It is then that he becomes aware of their presence.
Luigi blinks a little to focus his eyes, as they’re blurry, he doesn't know why, and lowers his hand without any haste. He places it protectively on Mario's chest, which, fortunately, rises and falls, evidence that he continues to breathe, albeit slowly and heavily. Luigi pulls him a little closer to himself, his hand still holding his twin's head with extreme care. His breathing is getting more and more arduous and laborious, and his cheeks are getting wet, but he’s not even aware of it.
In front of him stand three of the many monsters that plague the place. Luigi has faced several of them before, both alone and in the company of his brother, so he recognizes them immediately. A Glurp, which spews toxic clouds that have on occasion poisoned him or Mario, causing his sibling to be extremely grateful for Luigi's efforts to carry extra Refreshing Herbs in their luggage. An Ice Snifit, whose spiky chunks of ice have frozen his soul and against which only his brother's Firebrand has been effective enough to eradicate its effects.
And lastly... a Clumph.
His green skin makes Luigi think of a nurse’s uniform. His purple hair reminds him of a bunch of grapes.
And finally... that huge club that he carries everywhere.
In all likelihood, this Clumph is the main reason why his big brother is lying unconscious in his arms.
Out of pure instinct, Luigi squeezes Mario a little tighter as his brow furrows. How dare that damned Clumph hurt his twin in such a way. How dare he stand there, in front of him, carrying his club on his shoulder as if he hadn't just dealt it with all his might on Mario's forehead. How dare he give him that goofy look with which he pretends to be completely innocent.
How dare he.
“How dare you,” Luigi mumbles without even being aware of it.
The particles of electricity around Luigi have increased in intensity and power. His breathing has accelerated so much that snorts escape from his mouth, and the hair on his arms has bristled under his green shirt. The plumber hears the roar of thunder, but he can’t tell where it comes from. He does take a glimpse of a glow that illuminates the place green, though. Without taking his eyes off the Clumph, Luigi reaches an arm over Mario to grab his brother’s hat and places it under his twin’s head as he lays him extremely gently on the ground. Then, taking his time, he stands up. His enemies don't miss his every move either, the Ice Snifit and Glurp ready to attack.
Luigi, however, is not going to give them the slightest chance.
His veins burn so much that he feels like he's going to explode at any moment. Rage has invaded every inch of his body and is spreading through his nerve endings like a thunderstorm that threatens to burst and destroy him in the process.
Luigi is more than willing to let it out.
He can't remember ever feeling this way, either before or after acquiring his Thunderhand, but he's not going to hold back. These enemies dared to touch his brother. They dared to attack him when Luigi was finally on his way to reunite with him. They dared to inflict Mario a wound that has robbed him of consciousness. They dared to spill his blood.
It will be the last thing they will do in their lives.
Anger controls his every move when Luigi unhurriedly steps over Mario's body and walks heavily towards his rivals, as if he were nothing more than a puppet in the hands of the strongest wrath. Although they try to look determined and ready to fight, the monsters sense the aura that surrounds Luigi, the aura of someone who is willing to do anything to get revenge, the aura of someone who will stop at nothing to protect what is most precious to him in the world.
An electrical aura that brings thunder at lightning in its wake.
As he walks, Luigi clenches his fists at his sides and rebellious sparks escape from them. He feels that both his mustache and his hair under his hat have bristled, and his cheeks are now so dampened that he feels them cold, but he doesn't care. He continues to move, his breathing harsh and uneasy, his heart pounding in his chest, and he feels an unexpected surge of satisfaction sweep over him when he realizes that his enemies, cornered, have bumped into the icy wall of the building surrounding them.
They have no escape.
Luigi's fury, on the other hand, does.
Growling under his breath, the plumber closes his eyes and allows the energy pulsing in his veins to take complete control.
His arms rise up, his palms pointing towards his enemies. Electricity courses through his body, surging from deep within him and rushing to his hands. Against all odds, a sense of warm calm invades Luigi as he feels his electric magic dance up and down, flooding every inch of his body, reaching every corner of his essence and causing a fleeting smile to play across his lips.
He has never felt so powerful.
Before the first streak bursts from Luigi's fingertips, his eyelids part, but there’s no trace of pupil in his gaze.
There’s only room for electricity.
Luigi's eyes are entirely white as his power begins, at last, to be released. Jets of light, sometimes blue, sometimes green, emerge from his hands, lethal, deadly, and it takes Luigi a moment to realize that he’s begun to emit a low snarl that, gradually, turns into a scream with which he frees all the emotions that boil inside him. The fear of losing his brother. The rage for what they’ve done to him. The thirst for revenge, which had never before blinded him so much.
In fact, Luigi realizes that everything he sees is white. An immaculate white, dotted with sizzling green and blue flashes, which prevent him from checking what his magic is doing, what his hands are causing. Nor is he able to perceive any sound, as if his ears were underwater, in a completely silent limbo that has cut him off from the outside world.
However, he quickly decides that he doesn't care. He doesn't care, because he feels invincible. He’s filled with fierce drive that fuels his power and begs him to go on, to not stop, to continue giving it free rein. The euphoria of the moment is so strong that it becomes addictive, something Luigi clings to with all his might.
It's all for his brother.
Mario deserves that and more. Mario deserves the whole world.
Despite Luigi’s blindness, which, he hopes, is temporary, the image of his twin appears clearly in front of him. His beloved Mario, always so cheerful and smiling, always ready to fight for those he loves, always ready for battle. Always determined to protect Luigi and spare him all harm, but also full of unshakable faith in his little sibling.
A faith that has always been Luigi's driving force throughout his entire life.
If it were not for Mario, Luigi simply wouldn’t believe in himself. If it were not for Mario, Luigi wouldn’t have learned to fight, both for himself and for those he loves. If it were not for Mario, Luigi would not be who he is today.
If it weren't for Mario, Luigi wouldn't be here right now.
So he's not going to give up. He’ll continue to defend his brother the same way Mario has always defended him. He won't let those damn monsters get close to his sibling again. He won't let them get a chance to hurt him again.
He won't let them get away with it.
However, as he unleashes all his power and his unstoppable energy travels through his body and gushes from his hands, Luigi empties himself. He empties himself of the fear of losing Mario forever. He empties himself of all his anger, of all his resentment against the beings who have dared to harm his twin. He empties himself of all his thirst for revenge.
And he empties himself, also, of his electric magic.
Which carries with it a great part of his vitality.
Luigi blinks several times as the sparks around his vision begin to dim and the blinding white gradually fades. Before he can see anything, however, he notices his knees hit the icy ground, his legs unable to support him, and he begins to become aware of the noisy panting he’s emitting. He closes his eyes again and squeezes his eyelids tightly shut as he brings a hand to his chest in an attempt to calm his racing heart and regulate his rapid breathing. His entire body trembles violently, and he continues to see sparks, only, this time, there’s no trace of those green and blue flashes in them. All he sees is blackness and darkness.
A darkness so enveloping that it threatens to drag him into the deepest and most absolute unconsciousness.
Despite his exhaustion, Luigi can’t afford to faint now. This is no time to rest. He has to check what has happened while he was in that kind of electric trance, what has become of his enemies. He has to check in on Mario.
His brother needs him.
But the darkness is so tempting... What if he only lets himself be dragged along for a moment? Just enough to rest and regain his strength. Besides, his eyes are already closed. What's the difference if—?
“Lu?”
Luigi's eyelids flutter open as he lifts his head with a jerk. He only takes a moment to gaze at the frozen wall in front of him, empty, which makes him imagine that the monsters must have fled, frightened by the fierceness of his power.
But that’s not important now.
His head turns at lightning speed as he compels his exhausted limbs to move. In the midst of his wheezing, a wide grin blooms on his face as his eyes meet another pair, of the same limpid blue, gazing up at him in awe.
“Mario!” he exclaims.
Not wanting to waste any time, he propels himself onto the icy ground to stand up, only to drop to his knees again two seconds later, this time next to Mario. His brother watches him with half-opened eyes and a tired smile glistening on his lips as well. Luigi places a hand in his sibling’s hair, careful not to touch his wound so as not to hurt him more, and his heart fills with joy as he notices how his twin reaches for his hand.
When their fingers intertwine, they join with a force more sweeping than that of a hurricane and more intense than that of the most devastating thunderstorm.
“How are you feeling?”
“Was it you?”
The brothers share a few knowing laughs when they realize that they’ve spoken at the same time. They look at each other fondly, amused, and Luigi, feeling his heart calm at last, gladly gives the floor to his twin.
“I'm a little dizzy,” Mario confesses, his voice a faint murmur. “It hurts...”
He attempts to bring his free hand to his forehead, but Luigi gently restrains him.
“Don't touch it,” he asks, concerned. “You’re wounded, but I'm sure this will help.”
He begins to rummage in his pockets without letting go of his brother's fingers. He doesn't notice that his twin can’t take his eyes off him.
“Was it you, Luigi?” he asks again.
“What do you mean?” Luigi asks, pulling the fabric of his right pocket to try to get a glimpse of its contents.
“The electric shock,” says Mario. “I woke up and saw... Lightning bolts. Electricity. Blue... Green. And... I heard thunder.”
Luigi notices that his brother struggles to speak. Stressed, he begins to rummage in the chest pocket of his overalls, ignoring the fact that he feels exhausted too. Where the heck did he put them?
“Luigi.”
His twin's voice, tinged with a certain urgency, as well as the squeeze he gives his hand, cause Luigi to finally look up. He’s speechless when he notices the fixed, penetrating glance, bursting with curiosity, that Mario is giving him. He can’t help but be slightly startled and even blush, and immediately resumes his search.
“I-I don't know what happened,” he mumbles nervously, and he’s not lying.
“Lu, did you...?” Mario takes a few seconds to ask his question. “Did you just unleash a thunderstorm?”
As his fingers finally grab the 1-UP Super he was looking for, Luigi closes his eyes for a moment and takes a deep breath.
The truth is that he has no idea what just happened. He only knows that several emotions swirled inside him the moment he saw Mario's blood staining his glove red, and that he experienced them in a more overwhelming and powerful way than ever before. He’s never felt that fire in his chest, that tingling in his arms, that sensation of being unstoppable that has taken over his soul and has demanded to gush from his hands with more force than ever.
Luigi had no clue he was capable of such a thing.
“Lu?”
Mario's voice urges him to open his eyes again. His heart shrinks in his chest as soon as he notices the lingering worry in his brother's eyes, not yet completely lucid, but enough to be worried by his silence. Luigi tries to smile and shrugs as he holds out the mushroom.
“It's nothing,” he assures his twin. “I'm fine, but you're not. Eat this.”
“Luigi.” Mario lifts his other hand to push away the shroom. “Tell me what happened. Please. What did I see?”
Luigi will never cease to be amazed that his brother, even with a bleeding wound on his forehead, can still display his innate strength. He knows Mario too well to know that he will never give up, that he’d still want to talk to him about what happened even if he were on the verge of unconsciousness. So, defeated, Luigi offers him a deal.
“Eat this,” he repeats, “and we’ll talk about it.”
Fortunately, his suggestion seems to appease Mario. After watching him for a few seconds, his brother eventually lowers his hand and allows Luigi to give him the 1-UP Super. Luigi knows how much his sibling dislikes the taste of mushrooms, but by now Mario has learned to tolerate it: he closes his eyes and swallows them almost all at once, and always lets out a little whimper of protest that warms Luigi's heart. Mario may be his older brother, he may be the bravest and most capable person he knows, he may have always protected him since they were little, but in some ways he still reminds him of a child.
And yet Luigi admires his sibling for being able to eat something he doesn't like. He struggles every time.
Within seconds, Mario's wound begins to heal. Luigi watches, dumbfounded, as the blood recedes and the skin practically regenerates, eliciting a small grunt from Mario that causes Luigi to squeeze his hand and stroke his hair in an attempt to comfort him. His brother purses his lips as he squeezes back, and Luigi smiles as he witnesses Mario trying to contain the pain and not show himself vulnerable despite the fact that, here and now, it's just the two of them.
To Mario's relief, the shroom soon completes its magic. With his forehead completely healed, Mario opens his eyes, once again glowing with his distinctive energy and vitality, and rests them on his twin. Luigi, however, is so relieved to finally see his older brother safe and sound that, as soon as he begins to sit up, Luigi throws his arms around Mario’s neck.
He doesn't even realize that he’s started to cry until he tries to speak and the lump in his throat prevents him from doing so.
Mario's laughter is like a balm that warms his heart. His brother laughs fondly and puts an arm around Luigi while he raises his other hand to pat him affectionately on his head. Still hugging him, Luigi smiles, and a strangled chuckle escapes his system as he swallows to try to quiet his crying.
“It's good to see you too, little brother,” Mario whispers.
He presses his cheek against Luigi's and Luigi closes his eyes, his heart fluttering in his chest. There's no telling where his smile ends and Mario's begins. He could stay like this forever, clinging to his sibling and feeling his twin's arms around him, providing him with a warmth more intense and comforting than that of the most blazing fire as they protect each other from any evil coming from the outside world.
Luigi needs nothing else to live.
After a few seconds, Luigi notices that his brother tries to pull apart from him to look him in the eye, but the younger plumber finds himself unable to stand up straight. His whole body feels strangely limp, as if it didn’t belong to him, and it’s impossible for him to do something as simple as opening his eyes.
Luigi then realizes that the fatigue caused by the force with which his electric magic has emerged from his body is causing the upper part of his body to slip to Joke’s End’s cold, icy floor, as both him and Mario are still on his knees, and he finds himself unable to break his fall. Mario's voice, full of alarm at his little brother’s condition, reaches Luigi’s ears muffled, and he just can’t make out his twin’s words. He does feel how Mario holds him tightly with one arm, trying to ground him, and Luigi finds himself clinging to him with what little strength he has left in his body. He rests his head on his twin's shoulder while he closes his eyelids, just for an instant, to rest for five minutes, nothing more.
For this reason he’s unable to resist when he notices that Mario brings something to his lips. Without hesitating, Luigi opens his mouth and allows his brother to give him what the green clad plumber immediately distinguishes as a 1-UP Super. He’s barely swallowed it when he begins to feel its effects: a small spark of energy springs up in his heart and starts to spread through his body in slow but intense waves, finally giving him back the vitality that the magnitude of his power had taken from him. Soon he’s aware of how Mario's arms support him while, in Italian, his brother whispers soft words of encouragement, waiting for the shroom to take effect with the little patience that Luigi knows his sibling has, but which he always displays when it comes to him.
Luigi lets out a small moan as he regains control of his body, holding on to Mario's shoulders to slowly sit up. He immediately hears his twin greet him as if he had just woken up, which, in fact, is not far from the truth.
“Hey,” Mario says softly, his tone full of gentleness. “Can you hear me, Lu? How are you feeling?”
Luigi notices Mario's fingers cupping his cheek and can practically feel the concern that tinges his voice. Still clinging to his twin's shoulders, Luigi hastens to smile, looking at him, and nods, wishing he could wipe all traces of worry from Mario's blue eyes in one fell swoop.
“I feel wonderful,” he declares.
His tone must be more convincing than he thought, because, in front of him, Mario's face begins to calm down: his frown relaxes, his eyes recover their usual spark, and a smile blooms on his lips that mirrors Luigi's, as if his brother were an earthly representation of the sun and he, the moon that feeds on his glow.
“Thank goodness,” Mario replies, giving him a gentle pat on the back.
Both his voice and his face are brimming with relief. Luigi instinctively closes his eyes the instant he notices how his twin begins to tilt his head towards him. Warmness bursts in his chest as his forehead meets his brother's, and the smile that spreads across his face at the contact is wide, serene and placid. Despite the ice that surrounds them, despite the coldness that reigns in the place where they are, far from any trace of civilization, Luigi could almost swear that never before, in all his life, has he felt more wrapped up in the warmth provided by the mere presence of his older brother.
When, seconds later, the twins separate, they give each other wide and calm smiles, both filled with joy at being together again. Mario's expression, though, gradually turns into one full of curiosity.
“So...” he says before patting Luigi's back again. “It was a thunderstorm, right?”
Luigi can't help but cringe a little. How is he going to tell Mario about something he doesn't even know how it happened? In fact... should he? What if his brother starts to see him in a different light? What if...?
What if Mario stops loving him?
“W-well...”
He doesn't realize that he's started to fiddle with his hands, as he usually does whenever he's nervous, until he feels Mario's palm, warm and pleasant, resting on his fingers before gently squeezing them. Raising his head, Luigi meets the equally sweet and affectionate gaze of his brother, radiant with all the love he feels for him.
The sight is more than enough to soothe Luigi’s racing thoughts.
“Lulu,” Mario says, still smiling, “you don’t have to be ashamed. What you did was amazing!” he exclaims, chuckling smoothly as his eyes sparkle with excitement. “You unleashed a thunderstorm all by yourself, little brother. Do you realize how incredibly powerful you are?”
Luigi stares at him in silence for a few seconds, trying to process the reality of his twin's words.
Or, he corrects himself, trying to process the fact that Mario doesn't seem at all horrified by what his younger sibling just did.
“In fact,” Mario continues before Luigi manages to come up with a response, “you're so powerful, Luigi, that not only did you get me to wake up even though I had just been hit in my head, but you made the monsters run away. Or at least,” he adds as he looks to and fro, “I don't see them anywhere.”
Looking at Luigi again, Mario winks at him as he holds both of his brother's hands in his, Luigi's fingers resting on his left palm while his right continues to tap him lightly. Luigi blinks slowly and closes his mouth at last, for he wasn't even aware of having it wide open. A shy smile begins to bloom on his lips.
“They fled like cowards in the face of the bravery and courage of my mighty little brother,” Mario then says, imprinting his voice with a proud tone that causes Luigi's smile to widen and his cheeks to start burning. “Do you hear me, monsters?” Mario suddenly shouts, turning again to one side and the other, and grabs Luigi's wrist with his right hand to raise his younger sibling’s arm in the air. “Don't even think of coming closer if you don't want to suffer the wrath of the Green Thunder!”
Luigi can't contain the laughter that escapes from the depths of his soul at the nickname his brother has just bestowed upon him, as well as his enthusiasm when boasting about him and the vigor with which he shakes Luigi’s arm. Luigi doubts that any monster is going to be scared by that, but, maybe, just maybe, what he just did is not... bad. Maybe his power has gotten out of his control, but, after all, he hasn't caused any harm.
And, besides, he’s achieved his purpose: to keep those monsters away from his big brother and prevent them from ever having a chance to harm him again.
When his laughter starts to fade, he notices that Mario was laughing too. Now he looks at Luigi with eyes sparkling with affection, and the younger plumber returns a radiant smile that he hopes will convey the same feeling to his brother. Seizing the fact that he’s still holding him by one hand, Mario begins to pull him up and they both stand up at the same time. Mario, however, doesn’t let go.
“Thank you for protecting me, Lu,” he says heartily, giving his fingers a little squeeze.
Luigi can't help blushing and massages the back of his neck with his other hand.
“You always protect me,” he replies, shrugging, “and besides, I don't even know what I did...”
“What do you mean?” Mario sounds both intrigued and confused.
“W-well...” Luigi takes a few seconds to try to find the right words. “I don't know what happened, Mario,” he declares, looking him in the eyes. “I just know that I saw you lying there, and you were bleeding, and...” He sighs, looking away again. “My Thunderhand took control. I didn't even know it was capable of creating a thunderstorm,” he admits, dejected.
Luigi drops his shoulders and massages his arm with his free hand. Mario still holds his other hand, but Luigi senses that it's only a matter of time before his brother lets go and walks away. Surely he doesn't admire him so much anymore. Surely he doesn't see him in the same way anymore. Surely...
“Then,” Mario's voice interrupts the torrent of his thoughts, and a new squeeze on his fingers causes Luigi to turn to him once more. Mario's warm smile disarms him completely. “Maybe we can find a way together that you can do this while maintaining control.”
At first, Luigi isn't sure he fully understands what his twin is referring to. It takes a while for his brain to register what his twin means: that Luigi should learn how to be in control in case he needs, or wants to, create another thunderstorm in the future.
It hadn't occurred to him that there might be a way.
“You’ll see how they will call you Green Thunder then,” Mario adds, amused, and gives him a gentle punch on the shoulder.
Luigi chuckles at his joke, and an idea suddenly comes to his mind.
“Do you think you could do something like that with your Firebrand too?” he asks, curious.
This time it's Mario who stares at him dumbfounded.
“Well... I hadn’t thought about it,” he admits, putting his hand to his chin and tapping his finger pensively.
“Then that’s one more thing we have to research,” Luigi suggests, suddenly filled with a determination that only Mario could have infected him with. “What do you think, big bro?”
“Fair enough, little bro” nods his sibling, giving him another wink.
With no need for words, the two break contact in unison, only to raise their arms and high five. Luigi laughs, feeling not only relieved that Mario still loves him the same way, but pleased that they’re going to further investigate both his electrical power and his twin's igneous magic. He hopes to come up with an appropriate nickname for Mario and his Firebrand in the process.
“I guess we'll have to get out of here first,” Mario adds jokingly. “Let’s-a go!”
“Okie-dokie!”
And, together again, they set off.

The cake in the drawing is the one Luigi and Peach make for Daisy in the story, and then on the right, I was too lazy to draw the Toad-equivalents of Sarasaland (2 brain dead to come up with name) 😭 so imagine them looking like the children from the Grinch movie.

🫧 Bubbles of love 🫧
Exactly one year ago, a very special game was released for the Nintendo Switch:
🫧 Super Mario Bros Wonder 🫧
And it's a game that I loved and enjoyed so much, that I decided to write a little something to celebrate it! 🎂
As I mentioned here, I came up with this idea when I was trying to fall asleep a few nights ago and wrote it in one go the following evening. Don't even ask me how, because I always take FOREVER to write a story, but in this case, and as shocking as it sounds, this story is short.
Yes. You read it right: short. Again, I don't know how, but without setting a precedent, I was able, for once, to write a story that is actually short 😂
Anyways, thank you so much to those of you who reacted to the aforementioned post to try and guess what this story might be about! You're about to find out... and I'll just say a few of you got it right 🤭 (And those who didn't, you gave me amazing ideas... I may or may not be taking notes for the future 🤭📝)
I hope it's okay that I tag those of you who showed interest, as well as some folks who I believe might enjoy this 🥰 Of course, if I'm wrong, you're more than free to ignore this post, and please forgive me for bothering you 😅

My beloved big sis @vulpixfairy1985 deserves a special mention, as you'll find a part in this story that might remind you of her beautiful story A moment together 🤭🎈 Thank you so much for giving me permission to do so, dear sister! 💖
Without further ado: enjoy! 😄🫧💖
As always, you can continue reading under the cut! Likes, comments, kudos, reblogs and any kind of feedback is always more than welcome! 🥰💖
🫧 Bubbles of love 🫧
Mario can't stop looking at Peach.
He’s been staring at her in rapt attention for a while now. Specifically, since he’s seen her touch the Bubble Flower that has caused her familiar pink dress, which suits her so well and which Mario adores dearly, to turn a shade of purple, though not a very dark one. Peach has immediately begun to throw bubbles to catch the enemies that were stalking them, facing them without hesitation, bravely and keeping every bit of her characteristic elegance untouched.
And Mario has confirmed, once again, that he’s absolutely and irremediably in love with her.
Now, fortunately, the road they’re following is completely clear. They’ve all stopped to rest together in a clearing in Pipe-Rock Plateau, and Peach, her power-up still on, is sitting on a rock and chats absentmindedly with Toadette. Mario is not even aware that he’s smiling wider than ever as he watches her; he’s just reveling in her infinite beauty, her long golden hair and deep blue eyes that resemble two sapphires, and her gestures and expressions, never lacking in sweetness and demureness.
Mario suddenly finds himself lost in thought, his mind filling with the moments they shared together on their first visit to the Flower Kingdom a year ago. How much Peach was surprised when the Piranha Plants started singing, just before she started smiling and clapping as she let herself be carried away by the music, being the first of the whole group to do so. The various races with their friend Wiggler, with whom they had such a great time, despite the dangerousness of some of the places they ran. The unexpected Halloween-themed party they stumbled upon when they arrived at Fungi Mines. How Peach liked to chase him as they dived into Petal Isles, making reaching the finish in the watery areas a fun and always healthy competition. The catchy and lively music with which the Ninjis greeted the whole group when they arrived at their hidden disco in Sunbaked Desert and how Peach enjoyed jumping to the rhythm of their melody.
The wonderful feeling of flying away clutching his cap while Peach did the same at his side, which gave them the opportunity to share a brief moment of complicity and fun that belonged only to them.
A sigh escapes Mario's lips. What he’d give to relive all those moments with his beloved princess just one more time.
What he’d give to muster the courage to go one step further and declare his love to her at last.
A loud laugh startles him and brings him back to reality. Puzzled, he turns his head in search of the source of the laughter. He smiles immediately when he notices Daisy, who, not much farther away, pulls Luigi's hand, who is also laughing, although a little more shyly and nervously. Mario notices that both of them are also using a Bubble Flower, as evidenced by Luigi's pink shirt and hat and his green overalls and Daisy's purple dress. A sudden memory assaults Mario's mind: his little brother, completely blushing, confessing to him, without looking him in the eye, that he loves how well Daisy looks in purple, as according to him, it matches perfectly with the yellow of the edges of her skirt and with her auburn hair. And, besides, it's her favorite color.
Mario's smile is full of tenderness as he watches his beloved little brother being carried away by his fearless princess. Daisy is creating bubbles incessantly and, without letting go of Luigi's hand, she starts bouncing on them, dragging the younger plumber along with her. Mario watches them while he remembers another special occasion: that time when, after taking Luigi to Sarasaland in his Odyssey ship, he began to create bubbles near the princess' balcony to invite her and Luigi to share a moment together. Mario recalls how much fun they both had, holding hands as they danced on the bubbles, the purest and most primal happiness radiating from their every gesture and face.
Mario couldn’t be happier that they’ve decided to recreate the scene they shared back then, this time being in charge of creating the bubbles themselves. Tenderness dances in his chest as he witnesses how his twin, despite his initial insecurity and reticence, gradually gains more confidence, no doubt infected by Daisy's boldness and the self-assuredness she gives him. Mario’s heart fills with joy when a laugh finally bursts from Luigi's lips, showing that all traces of fear have been buried under layers and layers of fun and bliss.
With dreamy eyes, Mario watches as, in a matter of seconds, Luigi and Daisy are dancing in the air, holding hands and surrounded by bubbles that seem to be in tune with their movements. A giggle escapes Mario as Luigi spins Daisy around and then holds her around the waist, Daisy's arms around his neck. His little brother is quite a ladies’ man.
A soft giggle then reaches his ears. Mario's attention is immediately diverted to Peach, who, like him, looks at the couple and seems touched by the happiness they radiate. It is at that moment, watching the princess cover her mouth with her hand, always so restrained, with her golden hair falling in waves down her back and her distinctive heart-shaped bangs crowning her forehead, that Mario gets the idea.
He doesn’t miss a beat and starts turning everywhere. Fortunately, his search soon pays off: not far away, at the other end of the clearing, he spots a block that, he hopes, hides a Bubble Flower. He rushes to it without a second thought, but on the way, he’s assailed by the possibility that it’s an Elephant Fruit or a Drill Mushroom. What will he do then? His plan will only work with a Bubble Flower... Although there might be something he can do for Peach if he finds himself transformed into an elephant. After all, he's pretty good at improvising.
He stops dead in his tracks as soon as he reaches the block and looks at it while giving himself a few seconds to catch his breath. His fate is locked inside that bright yellow box with a white question mark inscribed on it. His mind tries to come up with ideas, options that he could carry out in case he doesn't receive the desired power-up, but Mario has never dealt well with uncertainty.
So, without further thought, he jumps up with his fist in the air.
A beautiful flower with a pink center in which two black eyes gleam, surrounded by purple petals which, in turn, are encircled by other petals, these of a snowy white, welcomes him.
Mario laughs and lets out a shout of victory before jumping back up, hand outstretched to touch the flower at its very center. As soon as he does, he notices how his body absorbs the power-up and performs a small spin in the air as his clothes change color, his blue overalls turning red and his shirt and cap turning pink. Before he hits the ground again, he’s already created his first bubble.
Satisfied, he quickly turns around and makes sure that Peach hasn't noticed anything, as she has resumed her conversation with Toadette. A little further on, Mario is surprised to see that, among the bubbles, Luigi and Daisy are now dancing closer than ever, their mouths very close to touching. He looks away immediately; even though they’re in a clearing with their other companions, he understands that this is a very intimate moment for his brother and the princess of Sarasaland. He tells himself that he has to remember to congratulate Luigi later, but not before teasing him a little as any good big brother would do.
Determined, Mario stands with his back to everyone and begins to carry out his plan. First he creates a huge bubble to serve as a base, and on both sides of it he places two others, also very large. He has to stifle a giggle as he realizes that he’s inadvertently formed a head that reminds him of a certain very famous mouse whose tone of voice is quite similar to his, or so he has always been told. He doesn't think there are that many similarities, but he's gotten used to the jokes.
He shrugs and continues with his task. He continues to blow and originate large bubbles that he places in the appropriate positions and climbs through them as his creation takes shape. He has no idea how long it takes him, but during that time, short or long, only he and his plan exist. He completely forgets where he is and who is around him. He can only recreate in his mind Peach's beautiful face, the living image of grace and pureness, as he works tirelessly. How will she react when she sees what he’s done? Will she be very surprised? Will she be happy?
Will she be... horrified?
Suddenly it occurs to Mario that, perhaps, what he’s doing is too bold, too obvious. He may indeed be taking a big risk. With his hand outstretched and about to blow yet another bubble, Mario thinks for a few seconds. Should he stop? Should he go on? What if it's too much?
However, he immediately shakes his head. He knows he wants to do it, no matter what, and that nothing could stop him. Not when resolve courses through his veins like a fast-flowing river and floods every corner of his body.
Besides, he loves the power of creating bubbles, bouncing on them and feeling himself fly higher and higher, and what better way to finally take the step of expressing his feelings for the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom than to use them?
Mario forces the torrent of tremendous thoughts that appear in his mind to stop and ignores the rapid beating of his heart. Firmly, he finally blows and creates a new bubble with which to perform his plan, and skillfully directs it to the point where he wants to place it.
Whatever happens next, Mario is willing to take the risk.
When, at last, he blows the last big bubble that puts the finishing touch to his work, Mario sits on it with a soft snort, eyes closed, and runs his sleeve across his forehead. He smiles absently and gives himself a few seconds to enjoy the sensation of being high up. There’s not much distance between the ground and where he stands, but it’s enough for him.
When he opens his eyes, however, his serene smile is replaced by an expression full of the most infinite surprise.
At his feet, a large part of his group of friends has gathered. The two Toads and the four Yoshis gaze at his creation with amazement gleaming on their faces. Nabbit is there too, his head tilted back so as not to miss a detail, but the scarf covering half of his face prevents Mario from reading his expression clearly. Even Luigi and Daisy have abandoned their close dance to come closer to watch, and they’re both beaming with smiles full of admiration and eyes shining with enthusiasm. When his glance meets his brother's, Mario smiles sheepishly as Luigi gives him an energetic thumbs-up while winking approvingly.
Next to his twin, Mario spots Toadette, who is clapping enthusiastically, and he waves at her quickly as his brain starts to process that, if she's there, that means...
Indeed, standing by her side is Peach herself, causing Mario's throat to suddenly go dry as his heart skips a beat.
His beloved Peach, for whom he has just built a huge heart made of bubbles.
His beloved Peach, who gazes at the result of his efforts with wide eyes as she covers her mouth with both hands.
His beloved Peach, whose sparkling sapphire eyes meet his own.
Mario is speechless. Are those... tears? He can't tell for sure, as he stands at a certain height, but he could swear he’s seen something glistening in the evening sun on the sides of his princess's beautiful eyes.
To say that his heart is bouncing in his chest would be an understatement.
Embarrassment invades Mario in a sudden surge that sweeps everything in its path. He hadn't counted on having such an audience. He had hoped it could be something private, something to share only with Peach. Of course, considering that the whole group is gathered in the middle of a clearing, he supposes it was too much to ask.
Still, the plumber puts his hand to his mouth and blows again. He sends the new bubble floating gently to Peach's very feet, and she lowers her head for a moment before raising it again, questioning him with her gaze. Despite the insecurity that always floods him when it comes to her, Mario nods, his lips drawing a nervous and somewhat crooked smile, and hurries to blow a second bubble that he also sends down, though at a slightly higher distance than the first one.
And Peach, without taking her eyes off Mario, lowers her hands to grab her purple skirts and begin the ascent.
Mario's heart swells and sings as he notices the wide, radiant smile adorning the pink lips of his beloved princess.
He forces himself to hold back a giggle of joy and keep blowing. His eyes never leave Peach's, who, in turn, can't take her eyes off him. Mario watches as his princess climbs towards him, those deep eyes getting closer and closer, her approaching him as if in slow motion. His rapid heartbeat thunders in his ears, but he’d love to continue living this moment forever, to extend it in time, to never end the sweet anticipation of knowing that, soon, his princess will be with him.
He never wants to stop looking at those eyes, which, as he very well knows, can never, ever have an owner, because of the simple fact that they’re not of this world.
However, sooner than he expected, Mario finds himself having to look up slightly, as Peach has finally reached him. They both gasp slightly, but the princess’ smile is so wide and shiny, brighter than the sun itself, that Mario doubts there can be anything in the world that would be able to erase it. He was about to create a new bubble, his hand outstretched, so instead, he extends his arm a little and offers it to Peach. She lets go of her skirts without a second thought and accepts his hand, her slender, delicate fingers resting gently on his rough, calloused palm.
Mario can hardly believe his luck.
Quickly, he leans to one side and invites Peach to sit next to him in the bubble that closes the heart, which she does with diligence and gracefulness, their hands still clasped together. The instant Mario’s brain registers that his beloved princess has just taken a seat next to him and that their fingers, despite the gloves, remain touching, he feels like he might faint. The outside world disappears completely for him, as does the entire group that continues looking at them on the ground. He barely hears, as if in the background, the voices of Luigi and Daisy as they urge the others to disperse to give the couple some privacy.
At this very moment, only he and Peach exist.
When they look at each other, she seems to want to tell him so many things. Why he has just created an entire heart made of bubbles, perhaps. Why he's invited her up, only her. “You're crazy,” even.
Peach doesn't utter a word, however. She doesn't need to, for her bright, expressive eyes speak for her. Mario senses that they’re communicating, that they’re speaking despite the absence of words, that they’re having a conversation that only they understand, a conversation that springs directly from her heart and reaches into his own.
And yet, despite this, he could never have foreseen what Peach does next.
She raises her hand, causing the touch between them to break. For Mario, it's like having a little piece of his heart ripped out, like his lungs shrinking in size. He will recover, however; for a few precious seconds he’s held his princess's hand between his fingers, and nothing can take away the joy that this brief but intense contact has caused him.
Even so, before he has time to understand what’s happening, Peach's palms rest on his cheeks, so that she’s cupping his face with infinite tenderness. Mario has just short-circuited again, so he’s unable to react. Unless melting inside and feeling his face burning like the fiercest fire counts as a reaction.
And suddenly, with the swiftness of the blink of an eye, Peach's lips land on his.
Mario's heart stops suddenly.
Suddenly he’s no longer there. Suddenly, he’s gone up to heaven and he’s not even aware that he’s done so. Suddenly, his eyes can do nothing but close, his ears cut off from the outside world, his hands rise to rest on Peach's hips with a certain possessiveness that he doesn't know where it comes from, but that he’s unable to contain.
Suddenly, Mario is in heaven and does not intend to come back down.

just a lil snippet from the current story I'm making, cause why not :D
“I forgot how amazing you and Peach’s baking is. I swear, if this cake was a person, I’d marry it on the spot!” “Hey…” Luigi teased, half-offended by Daisy’s comment and in disbelief that his competition was a dessert. Daisy giggled. “Fine, fine. A very admirable suitor.” Luigi gave her an amused but unimpressed look. “Double fine! I suppose you’re the only one for me.” They both knew she was speaking wholeheartedly, and hearing her saying it out loud was a jackpot for Luigi. He smiled triumphantly and crossed his arms, closing his eyes and Daisy reached out for another helping of cake. “And don’t you forget it, Princess! I’m the kiwi to your cantaloupe, ya heard?” When his statement was answered with a closed-mouthed burp, Luigi opened his eyes, raising an eyebrow. He looked down at the box, seeing that it was now left with crumbs and discarded frosting. He looked up to Daisy, who was smiling sheepishly. Her face had some frosting and crumbs at the corner of her mouth. There was his princess. “Oops…” Luigi laughed lightly and shook his head. He pushed the box aside and leaned his face close to Daisy’s. “Let me get that for you.”
