Okay listen hoes.

I’ve been surfing these anti Danneel, anti Jenneel, anti this and anti that tags for like… over a year. I’ve always been watching from the sidelines with my lil bag of popcorn, given an anon ask every now and again to other blogs, but never bothered to make a post about it. Because I didn’t think it was relevant, correction, I didn’t think Elta was relevant enough to make a venting post about — which is why I’m baffled as to why she even has stans — but also I just figured in the long run, none of our speculations, opinions or posts about this lady mean anything to anyone.

Actually, I may be incorrect there, as the AA’s may butcher me, or worse… Danneel may get Cliff to make another post… sheesh!

But anyway, seeing this latest Wales con, I got a real bad case of FOMO and decided I wanna bitch on tumblr as well (no hate to the bitches, I love scrolling through everyone bitching about the ‘perfect’ couple)

Here’s my take on everything, even tho no one asked:

Yes, it is painfully, horribly, excruciatingly obvious that those two don’t even like each other let alone love each other.

But I’ve seen some people and blogs talk about Danneel physically abuse Jensen, which I just don’t personally believe — each to their own opinion, though — but I just personally haven’t seen any evidence or receipts of that being true. Emotional abuse, yes, verbal abuse, definitely. But physical is something I ain’t gonna say I think is happening.

Danneel’s a bitch, as we all know, as the stans like to pretend isn’t true. But I really don’t think Jensen’s a saint or a victim — and I say he isn’t a victim only because in the end, looking over the financial consequences and the custody of the kids thing that would come with a divorce, she has little hold over him. He has the fame, the money, and what do you wanna bet that all of the Elta followers would do a 180 on their ‘Kween’ if Jensen ever spoke up about anything? And by no means am I suggesting that men can’t be victims before anyone jumps down my throat, I’m just saying that Jensen has the capability to fight back to her or leave her if he wanted to.

But he won’t, because — and I’m bracing myself for the hate I’ll get for this — he’s also kind of a narcissist and a liar!!! 😱😱😱 surprised I’m still writing and wasn’t just assassinated on the spot for saying that lols! Dare I say… he’s just as bad as Danneel in some aspects? That he has pretty privilege? Though not so much anymore since he and Danneel have clearly started doing couples Botox sessions. Wooof I’m really pushing my luck.

Trailed off a lil there, but what I was supposed to say is that he won’t because he’s embedded some kind of belief into his mind that his career will crash and burn if he doesn’t have his perfect ‘family man’ image. Even though let’s be honest about two things, your marriage is probably doing more harm than good to your image, and buddy, you’re a c-list actor who’s acting range is zero to none — I mean, he couldn’t stand playing anyone other than Dean Winchester that he tried, and failed, to make a spin off of Supernatural just so he got to play a brooding, macho hunter again. Though look how that turned out — your career isn’t some sacred artefact that can’t dare even be scratched, all he does these days is make money from cons, and a very occasional cameo playing as Dean in a different font. I’m worried the dude has Foreign Accent Syndrome but with Dean Winchester — as in he’s done it for that long that its irreversibly in his consciousness, to the point Danneel has to tell him to stop being Dean at home (sure she got a dig out of him mentioning that in the panel)

But I’m trying to focus talking about this con so far — even though I’ve trailed off multiple times already — first of all, ignoring the fact it’s insane that Danneel’s even at a Suoernatural con when her character (which was a nepotism role) wasn’t even in a full season, served no purpose, wasn’t even a likeable character — unless you like vapid, vain, and poorly portrayed characters — and added nothing to the storyline. And yet she gets treated like she’s a main cast member? Half of Dean’s flings who were in half an episode served more to the plot that Anael did in the whole five episodes she was on the show! And it pissed me off that Danneel’s getting the sort of treatment of main cast when Gen’s character was actually important to the plot, yet she wasn’t at the con. Not that I think Gen’s that bothered, which shows the difference between her and Danneel.

And apparently she auditioned for every single female role??? HUH?? Are we talking about the same Ms Gurl who made fun of Supernatural in the earlier seasons, claimed to not wanting to interfere as it was Jensen’s thing, demeaned and made fun of fans on twitter, criticised her own husband’s role and showed doubt of the series duration??? Make it make sense.

I’m kind of relieved Jensen hasn’t shared any of his made up domestic stories of them, to try and make it seem like they can even stand each other, although it would’ve been interesting to see him talk about it with Danneel there — just to see her reaction, cause I’m certain Jensen just makes up these stories as he goes along. But I guess my guy couldn’t even manage that, probably not after how much Elta knocked him down in front of everyone — she barely did anything else other than make jabs at him the whole time. Surprised my girl didn’t go blue from all the snarky remarks she was making.

Oh wait, it’s ‘sarcasm’, right? Silly me, I forgot that ‘that’s how they are with each other’ 😐😐😐 even AA’s have spoke up about her behaviour in this con — shows how much effort those two are bothering putting in to keep up the image. But hey, I’m proud that some of the delusional Jenneel shippers have developed a frontal lobe, probably because their self-insert isn’t doing what they want her to be doing!

Anyway that’s all from me, my thumbs hurt, can’t believe I wrote so much. Free will is a crazy thing. Excited to see what kind of hate I get from this ✌️😝

Hi! I’m a big fan of Astarion’s character as a whole (Spawn and Ascended) but I don’t really feel comfortable talking about him in a lot of places because of… you know 🫤 but I was wondering if you had any headcanons on his background before vampirism? Theres a few things I’ve seen that kind of imply maybe he wasn’t always a noble, like the ratcatcher line, or his unmaintained grave in a public cemetery, or that he’s really ambitious and strives to not be nothing/a nobody. Or even the fact that he’s a charlatan/rogue. I like to think that his drive for power and wealth comes from him being lower class at one point and he climbed the ladder on his own, that’s why he’s even more bent on having it again. Idk I could go on but I was curious what u think

Evil Win is something that is not possible according to Anti. Pure Health or Abuse Tragedy. Although "I can heal\fix someone (narcissistic, immoral, traumatized manipulator) with the power of love, kindness, questionable therapy skills, "I'm proud" leads to the last one if you're so zealous in your health-psychology research. That "I love to hate it"-moment, bully instinct, whatever the means and methods. I'm sure if AA was breathing, Anti would find shit to throw. Absolutely destructive poisonous behavior.

Well, it's a shame this is happening to the fandoms, I hope it goes away in the next five years. The golden recommendation of fandom that I've heard - if you feel shame, discomfort for what you like - you close the door and leave the place, for your own calm and enjoyable time. When things like this happen to a fandom there's clearly something wrong with it, although that's a problem with many fandoms right now, it doesn't negate that it's wrong. I'll add here too, that he was wealthy, with power, and he remembers that. But we're talking before even that and "was it always so?", this angle will also be detailed below.

So far I see it that he realised it was a power is fun, useful sickle, especially in the field of law, ruling, and without it, well… the chances of dying and not enjoying harvest that world has to offer are higher. I'm sure he was arrogant, proud of everything he had, influence, wealth, including his beauty and his voice. He liked it when his voice sounded loud in the hall. He sure liked being someone important. This was intensified when he became a slave, especially as he was emphasised all the time how small he was. It's a huge wound of the loss of everything.

Now for more details about my point of view. A lot, I got inspired to write so here we go.

It's hard to speculate on Astarion's backstory if you start relying on canon, which I usually prefer to do. ***

And canon was…

The entire first act, some scenes are cut (3-4), others in shortened to 1-2 phrases as the dialogue with animation is removed, but it remains, as well as the approvals and phrases "chicky little pup", all written with the ideas that Astarion was:

Greedy for power, hunger for eternal life, corrupted elite from the Upper City. Who sold the criminals, gurs (they're "savages" in Faerun) to vampires as food, and then sold them into slavery.

Why… It's been so little revealed. Who took away a whole detailed story about how this horrible man became a slave (not perfect either, Cazador suffered for 200 years) and then became a sunshine Lord with the help of my corrupted Tav.

As far as I know, no one could force the developers talk about the main ideas about the story, writing it in an artbook, selling the artbook in a physical edition until now, plot which they might have thought to change all or part, and to give an interview to VICE and YouTube channel (in which he repeats wording from the interview). „A disgraced nobleman who used his position as a local magistrate to serve a vampire clan by feeding them prisoners, he was eventually too corrupt even for them and was effectively sent to serve as the personal slave of a powerful vampire”

Baldur's Gate 3 Features You Didn’t See In The Demo 14:12 „Vampires made him their spawn after catching him selling criminals into slavery when he was a magister. His punishment has lasted hundreds of years and Swen cryptically refers to something written on his back that when you finally see it, you'll be, and I quote, "oh f**k!” I wrote more about it here. It was a hook for the players. Which has now become a reason not to trust Larian at all. In my opinion it was decided to leave unrevealed in order to make the product more mass-market or Larian's team didn't have enough time.

Or does it combine everything together? Courtesan is no-no for me, very. Could this be a reference to his slavery when he seduced people? When thinking of courtesans, it is rather presented as a forced choice: either poverty or this. Or fully a choice. For example, Cherie 2009. Where courtesans did make a lot of profit themselves, money not only to survive, but to live very luxuriously. In Astarion's case, it was simply slavery, of any kind or manner. Well, about the victims he could have knocked them out in a dark alley, or holding a knife to their ribs and brought them in. The explanation that Cazador made it such a torture for him to have sex doesn't convince me much. + Using Cazador to explain everything is meme, no plot, lacks complexity and the player's personal assumptions, impressions and experiences (grounded in the knowledge of psychology especially) don't add to it to the actual game. Music and acting unfortunately too. Weak scripts and cut content affects. So the "courtesan" as a reference to his slavery seems to me kind of wonky. If this was before Cazador, meh. There's a movie called "Dangerous Beauty", 1998. I don't remember it well, but I remember the woman had a choice of work, convent or Courtesan due to poverty. Did he really not want to work so badly? :,) Or was he really that poor and was lucky enough to get into a prestigious brothel, and further up the hierarchical ladder, because of need. (no, I don't like it) I don't think Astarion was forced to do that and he was so poor. I think it might have been a way to gain power. He could have just been from an impoverished noble family (so he didn't know how to work and hated it) and decided that the way of his beauty is more efficient. He got money and influence and became a magistrate. I don't like the idea still.

I can live with the word if it is used with the historical context of the Middle Ages.

Given how entrenched the word has become in the modern day, I don't think it could have been with this context. But by the way fits perfectly with noble, charlatan and magistrate.

"In European feudal society, the court was the centre of government as well as the residence of the monarch, and social and political life were often completely mixed together. Prior to the Renaissance, courtesans served to convey information to visiting dignitaries, when servants could not be trusted".

(oh and the point that he doesn't trust anyone, he's seen how much betrayal there is in high society. In this case, Astarion could also seek influence through seduction, but it was his desire and no longer even out of need or habit. It could even be one of libertine entertainment, that's still profitable)

I will always prefer noble or charlatan. Charlatan fits, including on DnD.

Idle champions of the forgotten realms.

Among the items Astarion has are "Forged Potents of Nobility". But also the portrait of the Cazador, the Vampire Rapier. It could be an Easter egg out of context with other items, hint that he wasn't noble right away. He could, as Magistrate, engage in paper forgery and sell. And, wasn't Astarion hunting in the Upper City, maybe he had to have noble documents to get into some places. But since he was outside the law of mortals, like a vanishing shadow, he had forged papers. Yes, while I was writing this Astarion noble became canon again.

The Dungeons & Dragons 50th Anniversary Superdrop Post here It was an ad somewhere on instagram. You can see the ‘sound’ icon at the bottom, identical to Instagram. I tried to find it on the official dnd instagrams, but no results. Need THIS ALL very much. He was probably changed to charlatan because he has no status at the moment. Although for games, the archetype ‘noble’ is still connected to the attitude towards the world around you. ‘I'm better,’ striving for luxury, squeamishness, arrogance. So he behaved like that, but now he doesn't have that status and power - so the game decided to more correctly call him a charlatan who had his nobility taken away from him, like in the DnD5 book. Also he acted like a charlatan (most likely) when he was with the magistrate, so that point fits as well. His age has also been changed several times, which is still a mistake in the game script and on the gravestone. In my humble opinion. - 350 - Death at 150 (Idle champions of the forgotten realms, first time) - 239 - Death at 39 (229 - 268 DR) (game BG3) - 263 - Death at 63 (Idle champions of the forgotten realms, after change) I'm no DnD expert so you're reading what I found and checked while I was writing, hopefully it will be ok here. Speaking of consciousness Being in the society of other races that live, grow up and die faster, elves adapt to this life and are already considered adults. There was a good example to explain: it's like a rather infantile 18 year person who already understands everything. Has rights and obligations before the law, if they live in a society other than elves they a full-fledged adult member of society. But emotionally tends to be more naively, maximalism, impulsively, intense.

There's an option headcanon his backstory as a funny goofy hedonist. Possibly who could do evil things to the poor, vagabonds, “barbarians”. In canon we have one moment in Act 1 where Astarion tells his story with the Gurs. “They didn't like the decision I made” - 99% of the time that decision was unfair. I'm sure he was prejudiced before the attack. I don't think he tried to judge fairly, justly and mercifully those he considered ‘trouble makers’ and ‘barbarians’.

Also we have space for headcanons of how evil he was. (I think though he was a goofy hedonist at any way). Given the latest news with noble, I think he's been one since birth. Well, I'll keep the part where I little speculate about how he could have been non-noble, at the very beginning. And little about how writing his attitude towards the world (very noble).

I definitely had thoughts that he tried really hard to be on top because he was poor once. Though he likes skillful thieves, he has quite a bit of disdain for the poor, vagabonds, wretched, plebs etc. This incidentally reveals his status-issue, he became in that low status he hated. I'll give a few examples that can be shown glimpse hints of his past as a magistrate. Astarion: I've watched urchins freeze to death on the street. It looks peaceful - just like falling asleep.

The concept that he was “urchins” too, and hated it - possible, wanted nothing to do with this position, becoming noble he completely separated himself from this world. But no, I don't think so, I'm not close to that idea. I feel the mood that he was always noble, how mutch rich and influential? - is already that moment where I'm considering different options. Yenna approaches the camp to ask if they can stay.

Wyll: The right path often lies between the extremes. Astarion: Mercy? Please - justice should be a harsh lesson. All the better to deter the next vagabond.

Player: I'm with Astarion here. Off with every criminal's head, I say. Wyll: If such violence is truly justice, then let it never again be called a virtue. ___ I think Stephen Rooney had a hand in this scene. This theme of violence, justice, about the dark side of humanity. Harshness can bring justice. It can become violence. Can become so corrupted and vicious that it ceases to be justice. (or has it always been a side that's always been kept quiet...) Can be in balance. Astarion hardly shares Wyll's point of view. Not to mention his history with vagabonds. The thing is... No one would care about mercy if a rabble of vagrants attacked your home. Wouldn't you regret trying to keep things in balance? The crowd doesn't care who was an honest man and who wasn't - everyone is a target. In that time and place (the Middle Ages) Astarion has a point.

Wyll literally said right, good things. Astarion: Mercy? Please~ It is XD yeah.

Astarion has the freakiest moral scales, always. In reality, he cares little about justice. He has an opinion about it. But it will still be "good, as long as it doesn't hurt me". If justice points its sword at him, he'll turn things around so it doesn't have to be that way. Will be proud if it's successful. He's not a wise character, even if he has a point in his story where the gray morality. I paid a little attention to it here. It's amazing how his character brings fun to the dark side, luring down the path of vice. Astarion has a picture of the world according to “evil” in DnD, “the strong survive, the weak die”, this picture is similar to Laezel and Minthara. But Astarion has no ideas or what he serves - his desires are the guideline. One thing is clear to me - he likes to live a pleasurable life, he will protect it and keep it in any way he can.

I'm also thinking… Astarion can ridicule and flips any reasoning about morality, principles, rightness, he doesn't really care, the main thing is to achieve whatever he wants. That's what he did when he was a magistrate.

So I'm closer to the idea that he was the golden boy.

Speaking of the Magistrate. One - something made him choose a good career about money and power. Perhaps something unpleasant, tragic. Two - variant he just realized by watching society that this is what you should strive. Reason was very petty, like he felt gOLd embroidered gloves were worth quite a lot. He didn't like the thought of counting gold. And his personality. It's useful and fun. Wearing poor or even average clothes and not eating delicious food - sucks. Three is a combination Lately we have been looking for reasons in the actions of the villain, psychological, subtle reasons - it was not bad, as long as it comes to the point that the more reasons the less he is a villain and just a “victim of circumstances”, it is already a tired concept for me. It's much more interesting when the reasons are there, but there is a distinct decision by the individual, where he clearly understands what and how would be right, but chooses wrongly. Astarion chooses the immoral path, he prefers it that way.

Why the Magistrate and not, shall we say, a merchant, a shipbuilder. Because the magistrate can tax everyone. To neatly circumvent the law, you have to know perfectly well how it works. :D Interesting, he loves Baldur's Gate, he's fascinated that this city is so great, a city of opportunity, he said. When he becomes Lord, he wants to rule it, or rather will do so again, in a higher status, a tiny pause of 200 years. He loves the heartbeat of this city.

There are other options, but here's how Astarion sees the city, a heart to bite into. Hot. In talking to the dead "that he was going to do as Lord" - rule and be free. Dead men don't lie. He wants to rule.

Could this be a reference to raw ambition and a desire to rule that he's had in the past? Probably. However, he said that there are many other cities in the world, perhaps this is a trick for Wyll.

But he could really easily leave the city with Tav\DU. So even ruling the city isn't his main idea. It's enjoyable, but there are other fun things too. The idea was to turn into a bat, evidently. And do:

Success. One more a constant thought: The choice to become a Magistrate was his willful decision. Astarion was looking for more power and a place at the ruler of the city. Only later did he find out it was boring quite a bit XD But the perspective of the place and what it gave and could give was very pleasing to him.

Speaking of family. For the full picture, it's worth looking at something I haven't done yet - how the High Elves settle into cities where races that live faster, and what that means for the elf family. There are options: either he had a family or barely had one. There are several other branches from that, the family's attitude towards him, what happened to them.

• If there was a family

A respectable family, who easily got everything he wanted. Probably started demanding too much. (Mommy may I?) I headcanon that his family may have been impoverished because of their honesty and lack of ambition. But not much, they still had status. Yet Astarion was affected, “money can run out, it's amazing”. It may have sparked his interest in power.

★ Astarion was adored by his parents.

He was cared for and protected. Perhaps nurturing in him an attitude towards other people, especially the poor "I'm better, my family is better, others don't matter". By guarding him, they could say: "Don't think of running outside the upper city, it's all muck". With a family like that not caring for the grave, I can explain it this way: - His parents was killed before he died. Maybe criminals, maybe a fire. He was left alone. - His parents died after he died. - His parents were so heartbroken that they left Baldur's Gate forever

☆ The other option is his parents didn't really care.

There are so many ways in which that could be. I prefer that they were nobles who disappeared at balls, loved their son, but did not know how to care and teach him, all this was done by servants and his friends such as children of noble. Here heartbreak works too and leaving town. They thought they had plenty of time...

○ If Astarion had no family.

Astarion still had status and probably a guardian who almost didn't raise Astarion. Astarion had his looks, money, and the society of the golden youth. (Corrupt nobility). I pay less attention to this option, but I like it just as much. It's a simple option, but that's the point. As in the case of the family that didn't care, Astarion raised himself, among children who had everything.

Speaking of personality. I also believe that Astarion has an inner desire to reach for "debauchery and darkness". Which is consistent with the idea – dark&fun. It's his core to be himself. As an example, he would steal when he had a lot of money, just for fun to cheat some clunky merchant and watch him red-faced. quite the rogue He was very mischievous. As he got older, his mischief became... well decadence level.

That's not all I think about this. But it's almost all I've found words for at the moment. The important thing is that my thoughts may change in some details. Especially since we're going to have a new artbook and what will Larian write in it? That could affect it, too. I've outlined the constants and the things I like about this story.

Twisted Karma and His Last Bow

The first part of a excellent conclusion

My thoughts on the final case(s) are kinda scattered because for obvious reasons the 4th chapter isn’t self-contained as the others. It’s only the first day of the trial, with the conclusion coming afterwards. I don’t know why they chopped it considering it would work more or less the same way (I mean, they half-assed the opening for the final chapter and didn’t even bother to make a proper title card, just opened Canva, chose a fancy-looking font and typed final chapter the cis resolve of ryu)

Interatcting with Kazuma feels uncanny. He is just standing on the office of the person he swore getting revenge on while being a little rude to his “best friend” (im a fan of asoryu on fandom/paper but in canon/pratice Kazuma is just a prick, reacts badly even when Ryu tries giving his armband back)

The whole crime scene makes way to another bigger story. For sure the crime couldn’t be more simple than it looked. For the first time in AA history it makes a lot of sense arresting Barok because everyone down there heard the gunshot after he entered and there was a pistol laying beside him (Jigoku having the exact same model is stupid tho, couldn’t they have issued another different model in this span of years?)

Considering Jigoku again, the witnesses are being stupid again. Weren’t they shown a picture of the victim in the first place? Anyone with a brain could see the obvious difference between Gregson and the judge, who is way bulkier and taller than him. The wig managing to confuse three whole people, one of them being a former prison warden with a keen eye for detail, is another silly plot point. Doesn’t ruin the fun for me, but it makes the whole logic trip on its feet rather quickly.

I shouldn’t be that happy on having jurors return as named characters, but i liked the yaoi woman from the last trial way too much for her to be forgotten. They're repeating the jurors almost make sense economically wise considering they’d have to make five new designs for one-off characters on each chapter.

The Vigil lady is very stupid. How did she not notice her husband was slowly becoming poorer overnight? They could’ve at least sat down and talked about it, but this would take the magic away from the case, and she accepts him and his weird friends in the end, so I guess that doesn’t really matter

It’s order from above this, order from above that. If you didn’t realize that Stronghart was the big bad in 1-3 you probably had a lobotomy, twice. Even I (stupid with capital C) noticed it.

Gina didn’t deserve losing the probably single parental figure she had so soon. I’ve said it before and will say it many times as needed, but her journey of an untrusting girl to accepting that there are people out there that want to help her is beautiful.

The small room in a fucked up corner of London vibe is awesome. For final cases we usually get those very memorable places that just scream finale (the Bigg Building/Grand Tower from AAI2, the Embassy from AAI1, Dusky Bridge and in a lesser scale the tomb from 6-5) but here we have a key character that gets dispatched in someone’s flat. I love it

The red-headed league are on my “annoying as fuck witnesses” but their dynamic is alright. Not bad for the Skullkin brothers because their cheering doesn’t have sound. Just wish they got a little more involved in the case rather than just mauling Dailey Vigil and getting arrested for massive fraud.

The whole Vigil reveal is kinda insane. He was made a scapegoat in his last job and never knew the whole extent of everything that went down in his last execution. Pieced together with the suicide attempt and the fact that the prison director didn’t give a single fuck about him. It also amazed me how did he manage to make such a perfect lip made from whatever fatty material he had his hands on. How did Venus not notice?

Also, it’s the first time I was empathic towards a witness. Sandwich made me feel bad, considering the bus driver just wanted to make a little more money on the late night rides, and now he’s fucking homeless. Had to do a double take the first time I saw him on the stand, but holy shit, unemployment hit him hard. Also, why was his previous boss a photographer for the Waterloo hotel?

Maria Gorey is also interesting. Her mother was pretty much a one-off character like she is here (she only gives some testimony at the start of the next chapter) but she already shows the resolve to be different from her mother and do stuff her own way. And I’m pleased she has something more to her personality rather than just being the gothic Victorian girl that likes dead bodies way too much. Also, how fun is that Gregson would have his life indirectly saved from the fish in his coat pocket? He really clenched like his life into the fish like his life depended on it lol

The Iris’ father situation made me stumped a little. Considering we had bigger stuff to deal with, I’m surprised they shoved the matter of Mikotoba having read the Baskerville story before in the end of the case rather than the beginning.

We don’t play the game, Anon, so the EN release doesn’t really concern us; we haven’t watched book 7 yet at all.

Even if Vil isn’t dating any of his sons, just the fact that he is their senpai would make Papa Leech super excited. I will truly never understand the need of so many of your anons to come to your blog and attempt to counter your musings on Jensen and Danneel with stereotypical “true love” claims, and calling her this sweet and loving support for Jensen.

Like, at best Danneel is a vapid gold digger and 40+ year old Mean Girl. At worst, she’s an abusive, possessive scrag who probably uses her children, and the threat of never seeing them, to force Jensen to stay with her.

I’ll admit, that last point was pure speculation only part. But, AAs coming here and acting like they KNOW J & D are this happy, perfect couple is insane. They have nothing to base that on but generic stories (that aren’t actually good if you listen to them), and … the need to see Jensen and his life as perfect, I guess?

I don’t know them personally, obviously, but what I see with my own eyes and hear with my own ears is that they don’t respect each other, they have zero chemistry, Jensen looks like he’d rather be anywhere else when they are together, and he talks over her constantly while clearly thinking everything she says is stipid, while she throws constant sly digs at him.

AGHHHHHHH i was about to go to sleep but healty schedules are overrated. Take a sit cuz this is gonna be LONG bc i dont know how to get to the point (jump right to the end to get the 3 lines resume lmao)

if you ask me why i like right now: he's a dramatic loser. But that was when i finally understood his character! you wouldn't be surprised if tell you that i'm an idiot right? i'm super slow to read between lines and understand people, that applies to fictional characters too lmao (+add that english isn't my first language) So! at first i didn't actually understood what was going on with -well- anything :D.

Took me a few playthroughs to actually understand the game in general, i started to play before step 4 was out so all i could do was play and replay different ways to fall in love with Cove (starting to crush at step3 was my fav) but tbh he was never my *type*, Derek was interesting but just bc he like us by default. Even after playing his dlc i felt like he was just a really good friend (which was kinda weird bc to this point i've just played his romantic route). So, what's different with Baxter?

To begin with! he's... he's....... huhh my first impression wasn't actually strong tbh, i was like "huh new guy to date yay". I didn't actually understood his character the first few playthroughs ngl. I started in fond ofc to get into the dlc but *I* was pretty indifferent, probably in Drinks where we finally see Morning Baxter was that i said "oh shit he's cute" and cuteness+gapmoe is enough to make me fall for any character tbh.

But! that was not enough to provoke a brainrot like this right? i'm the "Oh i love this *forgets about in a week*" type. What sealed the deal (badum tss) was probably bc of the fandom? Once i was done replaying the dlc 5 times in a row i went straight to tumblr to feed of headcanons, fanarts and fanfics. My favorite way to understand a character is thru the fandom tbh, my favs are the long aa essays talking about a character personality.

Long story short, he was dramatic troubled flirty gap-moe guy (my fictional type, coincidentally) with an excellent storyline. I still wasn't 100% into him but he was top1 romatic choice for me (sorry Cove and Derek, love ya but platonically), so i made 2 fanarts for his dlc in may and let the hype die... only for 6 months otherwise we wouldn't be here, would we?

AH-HA-HEM the day 28th of november, beginnings of summer, i went out in the morning to do some errands with my mom, we stopped to buy vegetables in our way home and she bought a small watermelon bc i love them. That same afternoon i was eating it and thought "watermelons are finally here, summer it's officially here!" and got struck with Olba memories like a sleeper agent. (made a minicomic abt that, that's why i have the exact date lol) SO i replayed the game again, reading everything again, and oh boy i finally understood so many things, one of those things was Baxter himself!

A lot of stuff made sense once i actually took the time to comprehend his character with the information i gained out of the game (mainly all the asks ppl sent to gb). Add the way that i always played like *me* on my first playthroughs of anything and then you'll notice why he hit me so hard, it felt like i wasn't giving him enough credit before dasjkfas.

Tbh his dlc is my fav bc it has such a strong storyline, you get to know him and his insecurities thru all step 3, and have a lot of sweet moments too! (and that night goodbye?? omg it hits me so hard bc it's right after the ending song) and because step 4 it's right after you go with all the fresh memories of your summer together and seeing him so cold towards you it's so painful but also so funny because HA I CAN SEE THRU YOUR FACADE YOU STILL LIKE ME HAHAHA and i finally knew the perfect word for him: loser.

Anyways i also did a deep dive in the Olba and Baxter Ward tag here in tumblr and eat pretty much everything, also helped me to get a better grasp for all the little details i didn't noticed before bc haha i told you im an idiot?

sO yeah i made a few drawings of my Mc interacting with the characters, surprisingly it got a lot of attention from the fandom so i made a few more and when i noticed i was deep into the brainrot and i wasn't able to draw anything besides my Ruri and Baxter being cute lmao

Funfact. Ruri is a variation of Rui (duh) that i used in games when i didn't feel like i wanted to be called my name directly, now that she expropriated me of that name i use Ruru, i'm so creative right?

William: So Jude still didn't trust Victor when he signed this?

Jude: Someone with money, power, and position. He offered us a contract on terms and conditions that would only benefit us…

Jude: It's normal to think that they're definitely up to something.

Victor: What? Did you sign it while doubting me?

Jude: Do you think you have the looks to be trusted by strangers at first sight? A happy guy.

Victor: Oh, that…..

Jude: I don’t know what he’s up to, but I’m sure he agreed to the contract because he thought he was getting a good deal.

Victor: Well then, Ellis too….

Ellis: I was told to write my name here.

Victor: Good...... No, not good! You have to make sure you know what's in the contract!

Alfons: Well, if we could trust people easily, we wouldn't have any trouble.

Roger: There's nothing to say to those of us who didn't trust Jude and Ellis enough to write a report like this.

William: Ha-ha-ha, indeed.

William: Well, it seems that this "observation" has helped the two of you get used to Crown.

William: Are you looking forward to what's next?

As the night draws to a close. Two busy shadows leave Crown Castle.

Ellis: Now that Mr. Wilson's case is settled, I guess it's time to start my our assignment as Crown.

Jude: Ah? Well, I guess so.

Ellis: Jude, are you happy now?

Ellis: Nothing….I’m not making anyone happy.

Ellis: Since I've been in this castle, I think I'm having a little fun.

Jude: I don't care if it doesn't make anyone happy, just have fun with it.

Ellis: I wish Jude could enjoy it.

Jude: Don't get people involved.

Ellis: I wonder if I can see Jude's happier face in this castle than ever before.

Ellis: Everyone says it's natural to have a hard time trusting others.

Ellis: Jude believed in me the first time I met him.

Roy Harper and Addiction Recovery Models

This is a bit of a weird one. I want to preface with: I have not ever been in addiction recovery. And I’m not here to judge what works for any given individual.

So Alcoholics Anonymous (and Narcotics Anonymous) is probably the most recognizable substance abuse recovery program, certainly in the United States, and possibly in the English-speaking world.

AA is also an abstinence focused recovery program (and as any discussion about abstinence only education regarding ANYTHING will reveal…. Abstinence has some serious limitations) with a heavily Christian background. It pioneered the 12-step program where the goal, to quote the Wikipedia article on AA, “is to effect enough change in the alcoholic's thinking "to bring about recovery from alcoholism" through "an entire psychic change," or spiritual awakening.”

All of this is to get to two main points:

The personal moral deficit implicit in the AA program

The concern about abstinence focused recovery programs

AA has helped people I know and if it has helped you or people you know, that’s awesome — I’m glad it did and I wish you and your loved ones continued health and happiness through whatever programs or choices best support those goals and outcomes.

I’m not sure AA would be the best choice for someone like Roy Harper. Also, I would be interested in seeing a wider range of substance abuse recovery models represented in popular media and/or fan fiction.

AA is based in a very Protestant mindset (the perceived personal moral deficit embedded in the philosophy of the program) where basically one has lost control over their alcohol intake. But if we look at less spiritual and more scientifically oriented views of substance abuse, we see it less of a “loss of control” as a personal failing and more as the result of a variety of factors—genetic, psychological, and bio-chemical. Regardless of which model you apply, the solution usually requires significant changes to lifestyle, habits, and personal conduct. But the method by which we understand and achieve those changes will differ.

Why the heck am I talking about this?

I read a fanfic where Roy had to reset his sobriety to “0” (per the 12-Step model) because he got dosed in fight with a mix of fear-toxin and heroin. The story wasn’t even about that, nor was it really about Roy following the AA program or his recovery or any of that. But I personally had to hit that back button and nope out of there because I was SO ANGRY on Roy’s behalf that he was trapped in a system that declared that the vile actions of OTHERS should set back his personal development.

The complete lack of distinction between “exposure” and “relapse” made me apoplectic.

Now, I imagine that, given that AA chapters are largely self-organized, the specifics of how the 12-Step program philosophy is applied varies a bit from group to group, this depiction of getting set back to “0” is not out of line with the fundamentals of the 12-Step process as I understand it.

(This is leaving aside the questions raised by what the neuro-chemical impact of mixing fear toxin with heroin would be.)

I think it could be really interesting to see a Roy whose heroin addiction recovery program includes the use of methadone. I think we could also spend some time looking into the differences between things like heroin dependency and alcohol dependency (shout out to the changes in N52 that everyone hated!!!) — in many ways alcohol dependence can be a much more dangerous habit to kick (going cold turkey from alcohol can be extremely dangerous in ways that going cold turkey from heroin isn’t. Fun fact!) But also alcohol has been a part of human culture since we first left a jar of fruit in the sun to ferment— and as a major part of the social culture is something that one might prefer to learn to manage or develop a new relationship with rather than simply cutting it out of one’s life completely. (I know some former alcoholics who don’t abstain completely, but I imagine there are certain things they don’t drink and certain context they don’t drink in.)

My point is: Roy Harper is an interesting guy, and I think he could be an avenue for us all to develop more nuanced and varied understandings of addiction and recovery. And I also, personally, don’t think that the AA model would be healthful for his psychology as I understand it.

That having been said, I will end this post on the Serenity Prayer written in the early 1930s and popularized via the YMCA and AA among other organizations. It is something I think of often:

God, give me grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed, / Courage to change the things which should be changed / and the Wisdom to distinguish the one from the other.

(This version does not appear before 1951, but it’s the version I am most familiar with.)

Thank you for coming to my weird rant. Please, take it all with a grain of salt. And with the spirit it is intended, which is mostly to try and encourage people to expand the representations of addiction recovery models because I think that would be cool!

AVENGERS ASSEMBLE VS MCU - the post.

We’re going to compare both universes :), so buckle up and get ready bc this is gonna be a wild ride.

( this isn’t my way to try and point which one is better, I love them both, but it’s my opinion )

1- THE AVENGERS.

MCU’s avengers are full of angst. I think their film has the biggest joke count, but they spend like 80% of the saga arguing, which, I gotta admit, makes better their bonding moments, but still.

Steve’s the leader.

AA’s avengers are the dream team. They do not work together anymore but they assemble one more time to save their friend ( because that’s what they are, friends ) and then keep working together. They know each other, they understand how everyone works and are practically a well-oiled machine.

Tony is the leader.

MCU’s Avengers work together because they need to, AA’s because they want to, and it shows in the team dynamics.

2- STEVE AND TECH/PAST

Both Steves are old men, so we obviously can’t expect them to be as skilled with technology as anyone who was born after the eighties.

MCU’s Steve lives in the past. He tries to adapt to the future but we can’t see him actually trying to live there. When he has the chance to go live with Peggy in the 50s, he takes it. We don’t know if he gave it much thought, but he spent years in the twentieth century and he still couldn’t find a single reason to stay.

( Natasha and Tony were dead, but he still had Buck, Sam, Clint, Thor, Bruce Sharon, Peter P, the rest of the avengers… )

When AA’s Steve was given the opportunity to return to the Second World War with Peggy, he realised that his life was now there.

He was used to searching on the internet, and holograms, and murderous robots, and phone calls, and spaceships and else. He was used to the avengers, to having a team. A family.

And he knew he couldn’t give that up.

He wants to honor his past, not live in it.

As OP said in her post: people like to forget that modern technology is really intuitive, and Steve shouldn’t have that much trouble using it.

Pd: in AA there’s a scene in which Tony promises Steve to help him understand technology, one step at a time without it being overwhelming, if he teaches him how to be a little more “Analog”.

I’m not saying either of them ( Steves ) loves technology, but only one of them introduces it into his life and is eager to learn about it even if it’s hard for him.

3- HOWARD STARK

I wanted to talk about it given that in both universes Howard has appeared and/or has been talked about by Tony.

Neither AA nor MCU had me satisfied with this point.

⛔️( TW: alcoholism, parent abuse, underage drinking until after the green light )⛔️

Howard Stark is known to be a shitty dad in every universe. In the comics, he verbally and physically abused Tony and because of that he turned his back to people, because they, unlike machines, were too unpredictable. He forced him to drink alcohol from a young age, he tried to trade him to Dracula for immortality, he fought him in hell, he sent him to a boarding school because he wasn’t “man enough” and there are many fucking more.

Both Tonys have trouble with self-worth, building relationships, talking his problems, showing weakness and are always trying to make themselves necessary, and whose fault is that? Exactly. ✳️

They spent years resenting Howard for everything he did and everything he was not ( a caring, supportive, DECENT parent ) ( which they had all the right to do ), and still they tried to live up to his expectations. Even dead he was still making them feel not enough.

He always compared them to Steve Rogers, the perfect soldier and the perfect man, which made Tony resent Steve too when he met him.

What does this prove? Resentment is corrosive ( see what I did there? ) and Tony had no reason to love Howard! He only felt bad, insecure and unsafe around him, and all he makes him feel before and after his death was self-loath and resentment.

Maybe AA and MCU’s Howard didn’t do all that, but the series/films still showed that he wasn’t a good father either.

MCU’s Howard told Tony in endgame he already loved his son even if he hadn’t even been born yet. [ literal words: Let me tell you, that kid’s not even here yet, and there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for him ] This initially comes as sweet, right? Because he loved Tony.

But when you think about it, this means that Tony didn’t live up to his expectations, like it was his fault his father didn’t like/love him and he failed even if he didn’t do anything. He literally said he loved him more when he wasn’t there than when he was. He told him he did something wrong, when all he was doing was be himself.

No wonder he has self-esteem issues.

He didn’t do anything for him, except filling him up with trauma.

Both Howards said that Tony was their greatest creation. ( MCU’s a few moments after neglecting him and make him feel like a nuisance ), as if the way Tony turned out ( a good, intelligent, caring man ) had anything to do with him. He turned out that way TO NOT BE like him. Because all the shit he had to go through made him care.

He was never there for Tony, he TAPED himself doing fatherly-things instead of teaching them to his own son personally ( okay, he died, but Tony was like 17 when he did, he had the time, he just didn’t spend it with him ) [ https://smthgavengersassemble.tumblr.com/post/160060510540 ]

And when Steve talks about them in both universes, he does it as if he were a hero and Tony had to make him proud. AND TONY AGREES.

THE AUDACITY!

When they met him as their adult-selves, they hugged him and had conversations with him as if he wasn’t ( in the best case ) an absent parent and ( in the worst ) an abusive one.

So can anyone really be mad about Tony not trusting people or coming off as “mean” or “harsh” just because he’s afraid of getting hurt?

Next time I talk to a Howard Stark apologist I will commit a crime.

4- TEAM DYNAMICS

AA’s Tony is the leader, though he’ll take Steve advice blindly. He usually calls the shots but everyone’s free to give their ideas ( which will be heard and taken into consideration ). The rest of the team mostly just follow Steve and Tony’s orders because in the heat of the battle there isn’t much time for consideration.

AA’s Tony is sarcastic, charismatic, practical, intelligent ( duh ) and mathematical. He’s all about probabilities and physics and stuff, but he also has his moments of what I call “believing in the power of love”, which basically means acknowledging that being human, “vulnerable” and different from each other is what actually makes them invincible and unbreakable.

When he jokes he does it to make people believe he’s funny or to make them laugh ( at least that’s what I think )

MCU’s Tony is all of the above except “the power of love” moments. He loves humanity but he doesn’t acknowledge it as much as AA’s does.

When he jokes he doesn’t do it to come up as “funny”. He’ll say everything and If it’s fun, cool. If not, he doesn’t care.

He’s cool, tired, and he has spent all of the saga adopting every child he’s come across [ Dad!Tony Stark ]

AA’s Steve is way less problematic than MCU’s. He’s lighter, takes things seriously but not to an extreme. He cares about trainings and being prepared, he takes his job seriously and is very responsible.

MCU’s Steve is more serious, we don’t see him worry a lot about everyone training, just him. He cares about plans and preparation. He is also more conflictive.

In AA when Steve and Tony have a disagreement they talk, and they don’t attack each other ( verbally or physically ). They communicate. In the MCU all they do is fight and accuse each other, never really talking, but arguing because the other doesn’t make things the way they would.

Clint ( ah, where to begin with )

AA’s Clint has nothing to do with MCU’s.

They literally just share the name and the aim.

AA’s is more like 616’s Clint. He’s carefree, cocky, fun, cool… he’s like the teenager who thought he was a cool kid. He loves food and 80% of his dialogues are bad puns ( or really good ones ), and he wears glasses because of the aesthetic.

MCU’s is serious, a certified dad. He jokes sometimes but nothing to really remember him for.

Nat is Clint’s best friend in every universe.

Gotta admit it, I like MCU’s Nat more than I do AA’s ( even though

In AA she is like this serious, mean, badass, harsh, mom of the group lesbian. ( she’s not a lesbian but she could be ), and I love her, but MCU’s more elegant while still being all of the above, and that’s the Natasha we love and would die for.

AA’s Thor is comics’ Thor. He talks like he’s a thousand years old ( which he is ) and has all this respect for the war and the customs of each culture.

MCU’s Thor is like some dummy in comparison. In the first two movies he’s serious and war-like, but in the last two he’s a lighter, funnier, sort-of-dumber version. ( Don’t saying I don’t love him, NOBODY CAN HATE THOR )

Now Hulk. In AA we usually just get to see Hulk, not Banner, and we gotta admit that Hulk is smarter in the series than in the MCU.

In the MCU we get to see Banner, which is a plus, and even though he’s not my favourite character I don’t dislike him.

And last, but not least, Falcon. Now if the hawkeyes were different, this is a whole other level.

They don’t have ANYTHING in common. Not even the age.

They’re both Sam Wilson and they’re both Falcon. That’s it.

In AA he’s practically still a kid, he’s like 20 years old and really smart. He usually helps Tony in the lab and creates stuff of his own too, but he shares Steve’s patriotism. He’s a mommy’s kid and he’s the newbie, but he doesn’t really shine.

In the MCU he’s a middle-aged man, ex-soldier and gives the best advice. He’s really sure of himself, he started off as a secondary character but now he’s a protagonist and captain America ( loved that ). He really steals the thunder when he’s in the scene, and he’s cool af.

AA’s avengers are much closer than MCU’s. They share things in common, experiences, they live together. There’s a certain domesticity we can see in each chapter, plus the banter and the “Hulk finished all the popcorn” stuff. They also help each other out, they have their bonding moments, they get over their pasts with each other’s help… they can count on each other unconditionally.

[ There was a time they were fighting Thanos and they won, so they were in the tricarrier and Steve felt something was off. He acted in consequence, and told the team Thanos was messing with their minds. He said “don’t you feel something’s not right?” ( or something like that ) and Tony answered “No, but if you do that’s good enough for me”. AND THEY ALL FOUGHT AGAINST THANOS. Now, THAT’s TRUST. THAT’s TEAMWORK ]

In the MCU they have some sort of strict-work relationship because they’ve proved that they can’t be together without a war for more than five minutes, at least on screen. We’ve seen them have parties and eat together, but it’s not like they’re actually connecting ( short of Nat & Clint, Nat & Steve and Hulk/Banner & Thor ).

That doesn’t mean they don’t care for each other deeply or that they can’t be considered friends, after all they’ve been through together there’s no doubt they care, just that they don’t share the same relationship and there are some parts missing.

5- AVENGERS DISASSEMBLED/CIVIL WAR

Now here’s something really simple and really complicated at the same time.

These two events happened because of different reasons.

When the avengers disassembled in AA it was because Tony kept important secrets regarding the team’s and Earth’s well-being and safety. He was putting them in danger, running blindly into the unknown, and Steve gave him a few opportunities to amend that, and he knew that he was on thin ice, but still he didn’t.

Steve told him he couldn’t be in a team where he couldn’t trust the leadership, so he left, and Hulk, Falcon and Natasha left with him.

They formed two different teams, one lead by Tony and other by Steve ( who was working with shield ) and even though they weren’t on talking terms, they still worked together ( not merrily, there was a lot of angst between them ) to save the Earth.

MCU’s reason to disband was that they didn’t agree on the sokovia accords

( here’s how each Steve thinks about that btw )

I admit it makes a little sense given the government’s punishments, but it all went downhill in the moment the winter soldier came up.

Now, I understand that MCU’s reason to cause a civil war was much bigger than the accords, and their reactions weren’t so off given that the winter soldier was the murderer of Tony’s parents and Bucky was Steve’s best friend, so I’m not gonna comment on that because I myself couldn’t have done it better.

We all can understand that in the heat of the moment we don’t make rational decisions, and peace was not an option in the moment Tony discovered Steve knew almost everything from the beginning and didn’t tell him. ( that was a shitty-person move ) ( Steve totally took Tony’s trust, spat on it and threw it under a truck )

6- STONY

This is the last point, and the one I’ve been looking forward to.

There’s no doubt AA’s Stony is full of sweet, playful banter, care, mistakes, amends, fun, trust and forgiveness.

AA’s stony is the home of gay!Tony and bi!Steve, the fluff one-shot. Mutual pining, best friends to lovers, idiots in love!

MCU’s is more of a bi!Tony, gay!Steve, angsty 300k slowburn. It’s the enemies to lovers version, full of hurt/comfort.

It completely depends on what you want, and that’s totally up to the viewer/reader.

Hey hey hey hello!

Saw your recent post about red rising and was curious, which book are you on?

I need someone to rant about this series to desperately, it hurts.. oh god it hurts OH GOD AA-

I am currently about a quarter of the way through Morning Star.

I think this trilogy is super interesting because it’s realistic depiction of a caste system empire, much like the one described in Plato’s Rebuplic, and also its depiction of revolution. It makes a very clear point that Darrow is not the “destined savior who crippled the empire all on his own and became the coolest man who ever was” no the truth was Darrow was more of a figure head who made occasional battle strategies. The most important thing he did for the revolution was kick off the civil war and serve as a magnet for Gold sympathizers. Ares and his rebellion did a whole lot more damage to the empire.

Now don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Darrow, he’s one of my favorite main characters in a long time. He’s shockingly human with deep nuances and complexities, he contradicts himself a lot and has a skewed view of himself and his actions. He has incredible rage and compassion inside of himself and at any given moment he can’t decide whether he wants to murder his enemies or turn them to his side through his bottomless forgiveness. And that’s really interesting considering he grew up in a very community based culture that also was enslaved and kept in the worst conditions.

Now, time to talk about my boy. Sevro. I love Sevro so much. The moment he was introduced in the first book I was like, “yes, this one” it took me a while to get through the first half of Golden Son because I didn’t want to face the possibility that he was a character only for the first book. He is less interesting than Darrow but also a lot more fun precisely because of that. While Darrow’s off having an existential crisis over the morality of overthrowing an entire empire when that’s certainly going to lead to a lot of innocent people getting killed Sevro is killing six people to steal a candy bar and cackling like a maniac the entire time. And that’s gorgeous character design.

I also really like how this book makes it a point that the revolutionaries and imperialists are ultimately pretty similar people:

Even though Darrow doesn’t realize it, he and Cassius are very similar, they both lost everything and continue to fight for their family who isn’t here any more. They both turn to diplomacy first despite being some of the best fighter in this world. They both have a pretty rock solid sense of morality that they can be persuaded to turn from but they always return to because it’s a crucial part of who they are, not because they were born that way but because these ethics are the only thing they have left of their fathers.

I find the parallels between the Jackal(Adrius) and Sevro the most interesting(especially after events in the very beginning of Morning Star that I will not spoil). Especially in the third book; Sevro and Adrius were both born outsiders to the Golds. They were both born a little small and not very physically impressive, however they were both very intelligent. They’re both scrappy and a little insane(or a lot in some cases). Neither of them got along with their fathers and felt they were always chasing approval. They both became leaders in powerful factions in the war due to inheritance from said fathers. The key difference comes in how the two of them chose to cope with their daddy issues. Sevro found a family who excepted and loved him for him which allowed him to forgive his father and eventually reconcile. Adrius let his murderous hate and desperation for affection drive him to further and further points of evil until he killed his father reaching the point of no return.

I find the similarities of Victra and Antonia both obvious and difficult to explain as in the beginning they’re both painted as femme fatales and eventually Victra splits from the role their mother gave her and finds her own path while Antonia allows herself to be molded by this mask until there’s nothing left under it. If that makes sense.

I will have to collect my thought on the similarities between Mustang and the Sovereign. As Virginia and Octavia are both omnipresent characters without a lot of screen time so I’ll make a post on them later. I know it’s a lot of words but the brain rot is so severe.

Ten: …Manager, what are you planning on doing about this?

Kafka: I’m sure they’ll work something out – things will be fine. That’s the sort of person they are.

Daniel: Uhh… I guess I’ve got the gist of what happened yesterday. You’re trying to say that Nagi left, right?

Toi: It’s my fault.

I asked Aa-chama to swap places with me and I ended up inflicting more unhappiness onto Nagi-kun.

Ryui: It’s not your fault, Toi. It’s mine because I said all those harsh things to him yesterday.

Netaro: Well, that would be my fault, then. I made Gii angry.

(Also, her joke about Sayaka's sexuality makes me wonder if she really knew the depth of Sayaka's feelings.)

📞 a character others dislike but you don’t?

DR- Monaca Towa. The writing did her so dirty, since there's a crapton of textual evidence she suffered the same treatment as the other Warriors. Everyone talks about how she faked a disability, but not how badly she got injured where her family would buy that they paralyzed her, and never got it checked out by an actual doctor. Also she's related to Haji.

AA- Wendy Oldbag. She's funny as hell and I love her.

HS- Equius. Honestly, I side with him in the act 5 meowrails conflict. His concerns that Nepeta is hanging out with the wrong crowd is 100% correct. Is he a bit controlling about discussing it? Yes. But he's 13 and I promise you I'd be worse in this situation.

OP- Don Kreig. How can people say he's a bad villian, when he has one of my favorite fights in the entire East Blue? He's lowkey way more entertaining than Kuro, OPLA should have cut that one instead.

We are back to our usual awful time start-today is 4:00AM!!!- I slept early and will go to work as soon as the game finishes so I hope they don’t fumble because my mood will depend on them.

If quinn didn’t answer jack probably wouldn’t talk to anyone anymore so it was good that he did, Maybe he doesn’t deserve the olive branch jack it’s 3:16 rn and I had just started my period so crying isn’t an option at this moment please love yourself a little more, jack needs to let go of the images that he has about the people around him because as soon as he makes one tiny mistakes he feels like the people around him are tolerating him either because he is related to them or because they were childhood friends; so it feels to jack that he needs to be flawless and perfect to be deserving of their love and aa soon as he does something to prove he is a human that deserving feeling disappears, FINALLY jack talked about everything is happening and hopefully that would make the people around him BE there for him, oh jack feeling like he made the wrong choice because of the words he has been hearing since he made the choice to race that he doesn’t belong and it doesn’t matter how much you love a place because hearing the people who do belong in the sport look you in the eye and tell you that you don’t doubt will make itself known, oh finally jack told someone about what carlos said to him-or did he already did it and I forgot? All I remember is him hinting but never outright say it was him-, another person telling jack he is in control but he still doesn’t really believe it love that for him, He’s always been good at that, at waiting, at seeing how non-things will expand and retract around him. Is this something only older siblings have? Jack 💔, “I’m not mad at you,”well jack wants you to be mad at him, “So you can just lay there and look pretty for me.” Nico atop being hot challenge failed, that whole interaction feels like it’s real; I dont know if you ever read stuff like that but sometimes something would feel forced like the writer tried to put something but it cuts the flow of the scene and it suddenly reminds you that they’re characters or sometimes they are too perfect but with you it’s clear that they’re human they human stuff they go through ten emotions in one conversation and it makes me so much more attached to them, there is a lot of moments that I do want to scream but I fear I will leave those to my friends ears alone because they are a bit unhinged, but my god that whole scene when nico was talking about how he isn’t mean to jack and jack saying he wants him to be mean made me insane, also I hope one day jack realises how much power he holds over nico because the reality is jack is the one who holds all the cards in their Scenes nico might be the one who makes the decisions but even then jack could look at him and say please and all of nico’s willpower would crumble to give him what he wants, also nico waxing poetry about how gorgeous jack’s looks in bed? quinn is mostly the sanest person jack knows so if he didn’t pick up jack would have no idea who to call to semi-ask for advice. like trevor is his best friend but he is not about to give jack any helpful advice, he would be too busy making fun of him to say anything helpful lmao but that’s what he’s for in some way. comic relief trevor zegras from across the pond. big fan of olive branches! jack is breaking all of them in half

yeah jack is, as always, on the struggle bus 😔 it’s pretty much all self-projected when you really look at it, but he’ll never admit that to himself, so instead he acts as though it’s this expectation that other people are putting on him even though that’s not true. like quinn won’t look down on him if he doesn’t win the championship, but in some ways jack feels like he will, as if not winning means he’s let the people around him down (he has not, bro is just a fool). he does feel as though mistakes and imperfections make him deserve certain things less, but again, top ten things jack will never outright admit to himself. he needs to be kicked in the face. metaphorically. by like, reality

honestly i have also forgotten if jack told anyone about what carlos said in shanghai 😭 iirc he was implicit in miami that someone had said something to him along the lines of not belonging, but he didn’t attach carlos’ name to it. if he told anyone i think it was trevor? but i’d have to go reread that scene to remember. which is. effort. so here i am

yeah i had to be evil and have quinn and nico directly parallel each other by both telling jack in no uncertain terms that he is the one in control -- and of course, no matter who it comes from, jack refuses to believe that. even if he can’t pinpoint who is in control, he’s just sure it’s not him. there’s a great set it off song on the fic playlist for that whole idea… but like. Yeah. that’s somehow become a pretty important part of his character that i will def continue doing stuff with. i have plans. evil ones. Maybe. quinn has unlocked the older sibling powers for sure

quinn’s NASCAR career (esp his final season there) is a little bit needlessly complicated but i do what i want. ik i’ve said it comes from mr dalton sargeant but it is also kind of a vessel to explore more of jack’s character via the lens of quinn’s career. it dictates a lot of how they interact with each other in terms of racing, and also (though jack would never outright acknowledge it) jack is afraid of becoming quinn as far as their careers go. and quinn is of course there to be like “don’t quit like i did” because he Does have some regrets about it, even if his racing career was mostly doomed already. he couldn’t handle it anymore, so he gave up, and now it’s been a few years and he feels stupid for it, so he does put this strange almost unfair weight on jack’s racing career because he, too, doesn’t want jack’s to end up like his

man. now i’m rambling. ANYWAYS

Bad. and i don’t want this fic to be one with bad or unsatisfying smut scenes… moral of that story is thank you i’m glad you like the scenes! i played out a lot of the dialogue in this one (esp that early dialogue, like the “i’m not mad at you” / “do you want to fuck draisaitl?” exchange) in my head before i started actually writing the scene which imo helps it feel less ridiculous, because like, i saw the scene out in my head first. if that makes sense. i am currently playing out the smut scene for spain out in my head even though i am not very close to the point of writing it oops

and thank you again i’m glad you think my characters feel human!! they are all pretty complicated and emotional which maybe helps. yeah a lot of emotions happening in one scene, which i agree is a more realistic thing to do. like i can be talking to someone and go from okay to crying to angry in like 20 minutes. that’s how being a human is sometimes. it is what it is

and this question is now like a week or something old but next chapter soon i hope!! i kind of took a break from writing new scenes for this fic after i posted ch4 so i didn’t burn out, but i def want to get ch5 up before the end of the year. i’m trucking away on spain rn then i’ll have to do html (not fun) so hopefully soons. and i don’t mind the question! i know a lot of writers do dislike it and i don’t not get why they don’t like it, but i usually take update pestering as a compliment lol. like i appreciate that you like something i’m writing enough to want more of it, i don’t really see it as an unwanted pressure or anything. i know that’s the unpopular opinion, but i’ve always kind of liked getting asked about updates lol — there def is a rude way to do it but dw you are not being rude i appreciate the sentiment. i used to know a writer in an old fandom who for every time they got asked when they were posting a new chapter, they’d delay their original planned upload date by a whole day, and i thought that was crazy. this was a really long tangent. tldr is hopefully new chapter in the next few days 😅
