The Thirty-Third Olympiad begins tomorrow in Paris. The summer Olympics include the sport of Modern Pentathlon. Modern Pentathlon consists of fencing, freestyle swimming, equestrian show jumping, pistol shooting, and cross country running. Basically you just prepare for the Napoleonic Wars and you're good.

how is the world not collectively going insane about the Egyptian pentathlete Ahmed Elgendy who literally just broke olympic and world record in modern pentathlon and got the first gold medal this year for his country looking like this

okay so reblogging that olympic poll made me look at modern pentathlon for the first time in a while and wow okay big changes

this is the last year that MP has my favourite part: horse riding, because of animal cruelty that happened at tokyo 2020. and you know what, fair.

originally the olympics were going to drop the sport entirely, but the governing body has countered: the replacement for the horse section is now NINJA WARRIOR.

it truly is the second best sport.
