I'm in a book club, and this month, the book is called ADHD is Awesome by Penn and Kim Holderness. We meet this upcoming weekend, and I'm only halfway done with it, another member is only 2 chapters in, and the 3rd member just finished February's book. I keep getting sidetracked by my current hyperfixation. How long will it take 3 ADHD people to read a book about ADHD? I don't know. I'll let you know when I find out.

Warning for (censored) (goat) sex mention (but it’s funny enough in context that most folx should be fine). Uhhhh…also warning for some possible paranoia triggers I guess (it probably isn’t going to be a huge deal for most but one of the posts sang off was from someone who watched someone else printing photos of a controversial actor and wondering about Illuminati/cult activity). I don’t think anything else here needs a warning really.
Anyway, you’re welcome!
Have you ever listened to a song parody that permanently affected how you listen to the original?

“Trying super duper hard to study for exams when I have a major headache and bright lights are bothering me. I can’t see the textbook in the dark though, so I guess I’m just out of luck.”
“On the plus side, that ADHD Is Awesome book by Penn Holderness arrived. I could probably easily get through that tonight, but studying is the priority.”
“Then again…maybe it’ll have tips I can use to study!”

Back in July, I had a really weird dream
It was a new episode of Smiling Friends, where people could pop a balloon to go to Spamtopia, but Pim gets stuck in a liminal room with a weird dog. There's a door and everytime Pim tried to open it, the door shrunk. The dog barked and the door opens to another room with 2 people in it. It had the same light blue with dark blue polkadot wallpaper. The Iris Out, (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/IrisOut), Closes on the dog, the dog barks and the episode ends. The credits have Penn Holderness singing about a pokemon fan that probably killed 13/14 people.

A Dangerous Game Ch 21
Emily Prentiss x reader Warnings: language, i think that's about it.
The following week you honestly felt like the heaviest weight had finally been lifted off your shoulders. You started to realize just how down you’d been and were now eternally grateful that it hadn’t been any longer. The next morning you were sat at your desk wrapping up paperwork when a coffee was discreetly placed onto your desk, you glanced up to barely catch Emily striding through the bull pen on the way to her office. From across the room Garcia managed to catch your eye, a wicked grin on her face as she glanced between the two of you.
*
That evening when you got home you were cursing yourself for having not bought groceries, having nothing edible but eggs in the fridge when there was a knock on the door. Your faved penne primavera with extra garlic bread on the side and a mini lava cake all fresh and hot and fully paid for. You scooped up your phone while digging into the bread,
‘You don’t have to buy your way out of this ya know. I already accepted your apology.’
‘Think of it as a double hitter. I… wanted to make sure you were eating.’
‘Turns out my appetite is back in full force this week.’
‘I’m glad. Enjoy your dinner.’
‘Thank you.’
You spent the rest of the evening texting, making each other laugh, watching the same shows from different houses before finally saying goodnight and crawling into bed.
*
You were almost running late the next morning, racing out the door and practically directly into a delivery man, the most gorgeous bouquet of roses and lilies you’d ever seen in the package. You had just enough time to leave them on the entry way table before running to the car, your phone buzzing in the cup holder the moment you sat it down.
‘Don’t worry, those ones are from me.’
You managed to slip into the elevator at the BAU right before the doors slid shut, letting out a breath when you noticed it had managed to trap you and Emily alone together.
“Thought I said you weren’t in the dog house.”
“Still allowed to spoil you, aren’t I?” She replied with a shrug and you laughed, “I’ll stop if you want, it’s just… making me feel a little better about the whole thing. I want to make sure you know how much I actually do care about you.”
“I do.” Smiling, you leant in, kissing her cheek softly, “thank you. They’re gorgeous.”
Emily had just enough time to squeeze at your wrist before the doors slid open and you went your separate ways.
*
Halfway through the morning Derek rolled his chair over to your desk, a bakery box finding home on top of it.
“Brought your favourite.” He greeted and you looked over at him with a small smile.
“You don’t need to feed me Derek, I ate breakfast. But thank you.” You lifted the lid to find that he did indeed get your favourite and began picking bites off the muffin.
“Just checkin’ in.” He replied with a shrug, “you know you have been in a helluva better mood this week.”
“That’ll happen when you manage to escape a toxic ex and get to sleep in your own bed again.”
“You really hate Seattle that much hey?”
“I’d rather move back to Florida.”
“Ouch.” He surveyed you for a moment, practically studying you to see if this was some kind of cover up or if you were actually doing better.
“What?” You laughed.
“Nothing.” He shook his head, “just, whatever you’re doing, keep doing it. A smile looks good on you.” He squeezed your shoulder affectionately before wandering back to his desk and it took all of your willpower to not look over to Emily’s office. You could feel her eyes on you and a few minutes later when you risked a glance up in her direction you found them still on you, doing your best not to laugh as she blushed. You shot her a quick wink and returned to the paperwork at hand.
*
Penelope managed to coerce you into drinks on Wednesday after work and you were thankful it was just the two of you, you knew she was likely going to grill you and that would be almost impossible in front of anyone else from the team. You’d settled in with your third drink when she finally couldn’t hold it back anymore.
“Okay, so I take it from the very improved mood this week that you’ve talked things out?” She asked, a wicked grin on her lips.
“We have…” you took a sip of your drink, “she explained everything, a very big apology was given that I accepted.”
“Oh please tell me you’re back together, you have to be back together, you’re just so friggin cute!”
“I dunno if I’d call it ‘back together’.” You laughed, “but yeah, we’re like, officially together now.”
“Oh thank god!” She squeezed at your arm, “so when are you gonna tell the rest of the team?”
“I… uh.. once we figure out the politics of it I guess? At this point we’re just like, not sneaking around.”
“But the sneaking around kinda makes it hotter, doesn’t it?” She smirked and you laughed.
“Yeah I’ve gotta admit, sometimes it does, knowing someone on the team’s in the next hotel room so you’ve gotta stay quiet…. Adds some spice.”
“And spice is something the two of you most definitely have.” She smirked and your eyes widened.
“I told you to fast forward that shit!”
“Didn’t need to listen to any more than I’d already heard sunshine. I knew daddy issues were a thing, but I’ve always kind of wondered how that would translate to lesbianism.”
“Well you’re welcome for educating you.” You replied dryly, rolling you eyes before taking another sip of your drink.
“All teasing aside, I am really happy for you.” Her hand slid across the table to squeeze at yours, “you deserve happiness and love and you’ve found that, even if it kinda went to hell and back on the way.”
“Thanks Penelope.”
*
You let out a soft sigh, scrawling your signature across the bottom of a sheet of paper before flipping the case file shut and pushing your chair back. Crossing through the bull pen you knocked on the door jam of Emily’s office, pausing a moment before entering, flashing her a small smile.
“Papers fully filled out and everything documented.” You stated, placing the file down into her inbox.
“Thanks.” She smiled back at you before you turned to leave, “hey… good work today. No one else could get through to that girl.”
“Thanks.” You shrugged, turning back to her, “I’ve always been good with kids despite not having the desire to want my own.”
“No?”
“My track record with family isn’t exactly great.” You laughed, leaning against one of the chairs in front of her desk.
“Me neither.” She chuckled in response, “but just because you had shitty parents doesn’t mean you’d be one.”
“I know.” You smiled softly, “but with this job? The hours alone are enough to make me feel bad much less the risks and baggage we bring home.” Your brow furrowed as you realized something, “oh… we’ve never talked about this… it’s not a deal breaker or anything, I just don’t see it being a great idea.” Emily smiled softly, looking up at you.
“There was a time I entertained the idea, but like you said, it wouldn’t be easy with this job. Besides, you know how whiney Sergio gets when I’ve been gone a while, I can’t imagine an actual child.”
You barked out a laugh at that, the smile remaining on your cheeks as Emily’s lips curved into a knowing smirk.
You were acutely aware that outside the office you were being watched, you could feel the eyes on you but weren’t sure who they belonged to. It was Derek, leaning against his desk with his arms crossed over his chest as he watched the two of you through the office windows.
“What’re we staring at?” Penelope asked, settling in beside him.
“Wilson’s been in there too long for just dropping off paperwork.” He replied without looking away.
“Well, she took the interview with that last vic, maybe they’re talking about the case?”
“No.” He frowned, “they’re way too casual for that. Look at the way she just laughed.”
“Aww.” Penelope smiled.
“A week and a half ago Wilson was going through hell.”
“And now Emily’s making her smile, that’s a good thing.” She nudged at his side with her elbow, “I mean, just look at them, Wilson should spend the rest of the afternoon in her office.”
“Why are you so happy about this?” He finally managed to drag his eyes away from the office to look at the blonde.
“Because they’re so freaking cute! Just look at them,” she gestured toward the office, “you can’t tell me they’re not crazy about each other!”
“Baby… Prentiss fucked her up royally, you can’t be okay with this. Wilson was a wreck while we were in Seattle…”
“Oh my love,” she squeezed at his arm, “you have it all wrong.”
Back inside the office you were finally turning to leave, knowing there was only one tiny pile of paperwork sitting between you and the ability to punch out when Emily spoke again.
“Hey… uh.. you have plans tomorrow?”
“Just this little thing called work.” You turned back to her with a grin and she laughed.
“No, I meant tomorrow night.”
“Not a thing.”
“I meant it a couple of weeks ago when I said I wanted to actually take you out…” She began hesitantly, sucking her lip into her teeth.
“Are you asking me on a date Agent Prentiss?” You grinned, moving back closer to her desk so your voice wouldn’t carry through the door.
“Yeah. I am.” She let out a breath, unsure why she was suddenly so nervous, “and I’m really hoping you’ll say yes.”
“If we weren’t getting stared down by Garcia and Morgan… I’d be kissing you right now.” You chuckled, “of course it’s a yes.” She smiled warmly at you, a light shade of pink tinging her cheeks, “you sure this isn’t just about that dress?” You asked and she scoffed.
“Oh c’mon.”
“Your brain short circuited when I opened the door that night and you cannot deny that.”
“Fine.” She grumbled with a smile, “but this is about me wanting to take you somewhere nice, you deserve it.”
“As long as it’s not too fancy.” You teased.
“Pinky promise I won’t order for you.” She smirked back and you laughed, playfully rolling your eyes, “I’ll pick you up at seven.”
“Sounds perfect.”
*
At the end of the day Emily was stuck a little later than she’d planned, a phone call with the director taking loner than expected and a little bit of extra paperwork because of it. She was finally emptying her inbox, tossing the folder into her outbox when there was a knock on the open office door and she looked up to find Derek stepping into the room.
“Hey.” She greeted, “thought you’d taken off already.”
“I was about to, but I didn’t want to leave without talking to you first otherwise this’d be eating away at me all night.”
“What’s up?” She asked, sitting back in her chair and Derek let out a heavy huff, dropping into one in front of her desk.
“Don’t be mad at Penelope… it’s thanks to her that I’ve been fully looped in now.”
“Okay?” She raised a brow.
“You and Wilson.” He sighed, “I was confused, and honestly a little upset to see how civil she was being to you, I didn’t think you deserved it from her, but now I know what really went down. Emily… I really hope you’re doing the right thing here, and for the right reasons. I know that your personal life and what you do outside of this office is literally none of my business, but I was also witnessing first hand when Wilson hit her absolute rock bottom breaking point. And I don’t ever want to see her that low again, so if you hurt her, again, and for real, you’ll never be hearing the end of it from me.”
“I don’t have a single plan in the world to ever pull something like that again, especially to her. And I’d expect you to, I’m glad she’s got you in her corner.”
“She doesn’t have many other options. This team is her family, like it is for a lot of us. I wanna make sure she knows that and that she doesn’t leave because something went south between the two of you.”
“I just…” Emily sighed, chewing on her lip, “I didn’t know what to do so I went with the first instinct I had. I didn’t know how much time I had, how close Dewald was. I didn’t want her to get hurt or killed just because of her association with me.”
“And you suck at communicating your feelings sometimes.” Derek stated, and while he was right, there was a teasing grin on his lips that she couldn’t help but huff a small laugh out at as she rolled her eyes.
“I’ve made a promise of open communication for what it’s worth.” She defended and he laughed quietly, “I just needed her safe…”
“Emily, I get it, I really do. That kind of a case? An unsub who had history with someone on the team, who made it very clear they were coming for you, and that meant her. You were flashing back to Doyle. It makes perfect sense that you wanted to protect her as much as possible, even doing it the way you did. You even made sure that Dewald would know, and then shipped her out of state just in case he didn’t believe it. You didn’t tell her about it because you were afraid she’d pull a you and take it on herself and end up getting herself killed. Hell even if you didn’t realize it, your subconscious did and this time we caught the guy and no one got hurt.”
“Yeah…” she murmured.
“As mad as I was before, I understand it.” He let out a breath, “can I ask you something?”
“Sure.”
“Are you happy? Like truly, really happy?”
“More than I ever have been in my entire life.” She replied, a soft smile on her lips.
“Make sure she knows that. Because that girl cares about you more than anyone in the world.”
“I know.” She nodded, “and I will. She means the world to me.”
“Good.” Smiling, he pushed to standing, “I’m happy for you Prentiss, really.”
“Thanks.” She watched him start to leave the office.
“Oh, and promise me one more thing?”
“What?” She asked with a small laugh as Derek turned back in the doorway to face her.
“For the love of god could you two maybe keep the jet sex free in the future?! I’ll never be able to sit on that couch again.”
Emily felt the colour drain out of her face but the mortification was immediately usurped by wanting to get one in over Derek, a smirk breaking out on her lips.
“Alright, no mile high club. But I can’t make promises about what you might overhear otherwise.”
“What does that mean?”
“Remember back when she first joined the team and we were out in Atlanta? You complained on the way home about not getting any sleep thanks to someone else in the hotel being too noisy…” She grinned and Derek made a face of disgust with a grimace.
“That’s it, I’m bunking with Wilson for the foreseeable future, keep you two apart while we’re on the road.” He quickly backed out of the office, not wanting to hear anymore, leaving Emily laughing.

ADHD is Awesome by Pen and Kim Holderness
After getting diagnosed with ADD, things have not been the same. Okay, let me correct that! things have been better than ever. It's not that I had ADD quite recently. I had it my entire life but dint know what it was. I wouldn't say this book has single-handedly changed everything. But, it has helped me realize the world is not built for neurodivergent people. Understanding how things work for me and working on it could change the world for anyone. so it did for me as well.
The difference after diagnosing is an understanding that I am different and I need to handle things differently. It was like "I had a superpower my entire life, and dint know how to control it".
This book covers tons of information from the author Penn who has lived with ADD for his entire life and has been successful both professionally and personally with the help of his wife Kim.
This book covers topics such as masking, identifying, acceptance, and what it means to live with ADHD in day-to-day tasks. Through all this, how one can bring the best version of them self. This author covers topics such as hyperfocus on tasks and what boredom truly means for a person with ADD.
We can empathize with the authors and their perspectives, while they they do the same throughout the read.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who deals with a similar problem or has someone in their life who they would read it for.

President-elect Trump has repeatedly pledged to dismantle the Department of Education, a decision that could radically reshape learning across America.
Why it matters: The Department of Education plays a crucial role in making education access and quality more equitable for students nationwide.
Abolishing the department and the accompanying changes are "an effort to strip the federal government of any ability to do good ... as a way to justify further defunding our public schools and colleges," Kelly Rosinger, an associate professor of education and public policy at Penn State, told Axios.
State of play: The Department of Education has been a punching bag for Republicans for decades. Ronald Reagan threatened to abolish it, and many inside the GOP have echoed Trump's calls for its end.
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) last year said, "Unelected bureaucrats in Washington, D.C., should not be in charge of our children's intellectual and moral development," while introducing a bill to kill the department.
Driving the news: Elon Musk, one of President-elect Trump's most influential backers, posted a video to X Monday showing Trump boasting about closing the department and sending all education matters "back to the states."
The official 2024 GOP platform also calls for closing the Department of Education. Can Trump actually get rid of the department?
While not impossible, Trump's political pathway to abolishing the Department of Education is narrow.
Eliminating the department would require congressional action, likely including a supermajority of 60 votes in the Senate, the Washington Post reported.
Despite their 53-47 Senate majority, Republicans are unlikely to muster up the votes to circumvent the filibuster.
A House vote last year on an amendment eliminating the department failed after 60 Republicans joined Democrats opposing it, per the Post.
Flashback: Trump's animus toward the Department of Education isn't new. During his first term, he proposed merging the Education and Labor departments.
Betsy DeVos, Trump's previous secretary of education, was seen by many critics as anti-public education. What does the Department of Education do?
The Department of Education's budget funds a variety of programs to help students obtain a quality education.
The department funds Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, which provides supplemental funding to high-poverty K-12 school districts.
Head Start programs provide vital child care services for many low-income and rural communities across the country, Rosinger pointed out.
The department also administers Pell Grants, which help low-income students attend college.
The Office of Special Education Programs provides resources to support students with disabilities through age 21.
The department also collects national data on schools and enforces federal civil rights laws to prohibit discrimination.
Zoom in: The Department of Education is also the loan holder for most federal student loans.
What happens if the department is eliminated?
Project 2025, which Trump's allies have touted as the incoming administration's agenda, outlines plans to abolish the department, which it calls a "one-stop shop for the woke education cartel."
Instead, Project 2025 calls for redistributing various federal education programs across the government, while eliminating others or transferring them to the states.
For instance, it calls for management of Title I to be transferred to the Department of Health and Human Services. The department's civil rights office would join the Justice Department, and the Treasury Department would manage student loan collections and defaults.
What they're saying: These changes — from shifting programs across agencies, shuffling staff or losing experts in the field — could mean "chaos ahead," Rosinger said.
"When federal government programs are chaotic, it's going to disproportionately harm working-class families," she added.
What could happen to student loans?
While Trump has repeatedly railed against the Biden administration's student debt forgiveness efforts, Project 2025 takes aim at the federal government's role as a student loan lender.
Project 2025 says that income-driven repayment (IDR) plans have "proliferated beyond reason," and that a new IDR plan should be instituted that requires payments equal to 10% of a borrower's income for those earning above the poverty line.
It also calls for returning to a system where private lenders offer student loans. Private loans typically come with higher interest rates than federal loans.
There are also concerns the administration could narrow the scope of loans available to help students attain higher education, like eliminating Parent PLUS loans for undergraduates and graduate student PLUS loans — both of which Project 2025 calls for, Rosinger said.
How will this reshape American education?
These changes would profoundly alter American education.
For one, it will "decimate" the professional education bureaucracy, as Trump replaces career experts in their fields with political appointees, Rosinger said.
Between the lines: Even if the Department of Education is left intact, changes are likely, as the Trump administration is unlikely to continue the Biden administration's efforts to expand LGBTQ+ and gender equality protections or forgive student debt, Rosinger said.
The Trump administration could also transfer responsibility for accrediting universities and colleges to the states, she added.
That could see accreditation being "used as a lever" to discourage schools from pursuing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs and affirmative action programs, Rosinger noted.
The bottom line: "Looking at Project 2025, the programs that are supporting trans students, that support low-income students, that support racially minoritized students, these are going to be the ones that are the most threatened," Rosinger said.

Happy ADHD Month
October is ADHD Awareness Month which was brought to my attention by my favorite ADHD authors Kim and Penn Holderness.
Listening to their recent Podcast for Tuesday October 1, 2024, they had a brilliant friend and neighbor on who is a Doctor and has had to face a ton of obstacles himself being an African American Man who wasn't exactly diagnose with ADHD at a young age but notice the signs when he got to college at Duke University.
I have linked the podcast on this post because stats they mention about how brown and black kids are not diagnose with ADHD is just so sad. Being a brown kid myself I felt this was prefect podcast to kick off the month of ADHD Awareness.
I've even asked my cousin Susan who is affiliate with Duke University if she has had the pleasure of knowing or meeting this man. I haven't check my email recently to see if she has but I will get my answer soon enough.
Anyway, Happy ADHD Awareness Month from
Fellow Author who also has ADHD

Ida Olivia Keeling (née Potter, May 15, 1915 – August 25, 2021) was a centenarian track and field athlete. Trained by her daughter Cheryl (Shelley) Keeling, herself a world record holder, she set Masters records in 60-meter and 100-meter distances for women in the 95-99 and 100-plus age groups.
Her story was featured in the documentary If You’re Not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast, on aging over 90, which premiered in June 2017. She was featured on Our America with Lisa Ling on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
In 2011, she set the world record in her age group for running 60 meters at 29.86 seconds at a track meet in Manhattan and in 2012 she set the W95 American record at the USATF Eastern Regional Conference Championships at 51.85. In 2014, at the 2014 Gay Games, she set the fastest known time by a 99-year-old woman for the 100-meter dash at 59.80 seconds; at the time the relevant USA Track & Field webpage did not include a 100-meter record for US women older than the 90–94 age division.
On April 30, 2016, she became the first woman in history to complete a 100-meter run at the age of 100. Her time of 1:17.33 was witnessed by a crowd of 44,469 at the 2016 Penn Relays.
Her parents, Osborne, and Mary Potter, emigrated to the US from the island of Anegada in the British Virgin Islands. She was raised in Harlem. Her mother died when she was young and her husband died of a heart attack when she was 42. She had four children. Her elder daughter, Laura, worked as the CEO of two National Urban League affiliates. Her younger daughter, Shelley, is a lawyer and real estate investor who coached for a local high school. Shelley coached her mother and first convinced her to run in a “mini-run” at the age of 67.
In the book Can’t Nothing Bring Me Down: Chasing Myself in the Race against Time (2018), by Ida Keeling and Anita Diggs, she explained the secret to her health and fitness, stating she worked out 2-4 times a week and attended dancing classes. Her diet consisted of greens, fruit, and cod liver oil, and she would have Hennessy with her coffee once a week. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence

Since “I’ve got strings to control” won! Allow for the best context! I had chatted with @adrianasunderworld about Penne and how she’s supposedly friends with her town “riff raffs” and how she is always belittled for her “naive and innocent” behavior. So. Let’s just say, the little girl is all grown and became the exact opposite she was looked and seen to be.
- Penne is much rn 18 years old and joining the Twst blue fairies guidance (meaning she would be like them)
- there will be exactly genuine violence but also justified karma
- this is also kinda the future of Penne.
- main and many inspirations was Lydia the hard song of villain Belle (which will radiate Penne in a way)
——————————————————————————
It was all so very simple, a cute and fun polite little girl. Destined to be humanity epitome of hope. Their guidance of light. But. What happens if they stained her view. What happens when they push that little girl, into a fearless mage? Well… they have certainly a new leader to obey… and to not disappoint her.
——————————————————————————
Today was a very special day, Penne Striae, a once happy cheerful little girl. Now dawn a new look. Wearing a dark violet dress, her hair grown to her waist though her partner, her true heart beloved, Ludder styled her hair so beautifully. She was doing herself some final touches. As today was her blue fairy ceremony. She was taught everything to become the new guidance, a new symbol for the better hope. The ginger spoke, as he finished styling his dear love hair. “There. I think you’re ready.” He spoke. Smiling so calmly to the girl, as he peck her cheek. Making Penne cheek fluster a blush. As Penne calmly smiled to her reflection. “I believe I am.” She said. As the duo head out, standing outside were the girl parents and her guardian of conscience. They were all ready for Penne coronation. As well as the town, as Penne and her family and friends walk to the center. Where the two main holders as the title “Blue Fairy” stand. Holding a violet star wand. For their newest recruit. Everyone was cheering her name, all were praising and were shouting songs of her commitment. But…. She still keep the rage that burns in her heart. As she must keep the act up.
All the time….. so many times she was berated. Scarred. Fighting for her dear friends. And feel helpless. Because no one. No One. Came to save her from her true troubled life. So many times she was told “advice” and “truth” her life will crumble with the lowlifes. Many times she must stay pure and innocent. So much pain. And it felt like, her childhood was miserable from the day she was let out to school. Everyone was the monster. She was the victim. Her family. Her friends. They are victims. And it’s about time. She return the favor. She waits so patiently, for the time to await her certified justice.
Biding her time. As the girl completely zone herself, as her father lightly tap her cheek. They have arrived. Being lost in mind do pass time, it was a gentle small stage, but those few steps up the tiny stairs made Penne see something in her wisest guardians eyes. They know her true intention. Why she accepted their request to join them so easily. Revenge. A neutral taste of it. The twin began to speak, saying simple light hearted praises. How they believe Penne, was the exact design of a perfect human. One who can learn, one who is wise to cast harsh judgement, and they know. She will do great things for them. They bestow the girl her very own wand. It was a beautiful sight. Glistening with glitter and sparkles, Dawn with ivory vines, as the stick itself was a soft violet and the star glow a beautiful light of purple. And that glint in her eyes shone. Now….
Through the roars of the applause, Penne held a hand high. Pursing her lips with her index finger. Silencing the crowd. “Thank you, thank you. I couldn’t get here with my dear family. My sweet papa and wise mama. My friends. Fellow, Giddel, and Sheldon. And my dear…. Ludder.” She smiled. “Though. As my first job. I need two special guests.” she said. Glancing to the crowd, and her eyes widen with the brightest glint of … madness. There was the two. She wave her wand, and summoned two grown men. A tall man, with tan tone skin and dark raven hair with matching eyes. And the other, an tall older fellow. Who hair was dark brown but the strands of grey were in place, with bright green blue eyes and the warmest “smile”. “I believe you two deserve this first.” But Penne smile was not that of an innocent one. No. It was malicious and prideful. She turned the man with the dark raven hair. Into a wooden puppet. Ceasing all chances to move and be a man. “You always wanted the best puppet for your shows….. now you’re it.” She laughed. And she looked at the man, dawning a red coat. “And you….” She said. Her face was serious. But a grin creep in on her face. “You deserve the worse….. you filth.” And waved her wand. Fast before the man could respond. And the man, stood standing up. Lunging position. As a golden statue. Penne laughed wholeheartedly, “ooh my!!! Look at them! Aren’t they soooo happy?!” She giggled and jeered. She faces the crowd. “I am going to have lots and lots of fun….. good luck.” As the crowd was now silent and muttering in fear. Where is their angel of hope? Where is she? They only saw.
An Angel of chaos.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my late, great friend + part-time mentor Rick Anderson (The Tubes), the 1971 Bangla Desh concerts, Lionel Bart, incredible guitarist Tommy Bolin, Pam Brenneman (RIP), Geoff Britton, Rob Buck (10,000 Maniacs), the late, great Boz Burrell, Jim Carroll, William Clark, Coolio, Rick Coonce (Grass Roots), Denny Cordell, Robert Cray, Joe Elliott, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Joe Friday, André Gagnon, Jerry Garcia, Dhani Harrison, Geoffrey Holder, Henrietta Lacks, Paddy Maloney (The Chieftains), Herman Melville, Jason Momoa, MTV (1981), Yoshinao Nakada, Taapsee Pannu, Michael Penn, Edith Pretty, Mrunal Thakur, and my friend and musical colleague evinrude a.k.a. Kevin Spyker. Starting around 1997 I worked as a bassist-singer and producer on some recordings and a string of concerts with Kevin a.k.a. evinrude—the name of a famous cartoon dragonfly, which applied to Kevin’s powerhouse abilities as a singer-songwriter, multi-media artist, and DJ. He also sang on a couple of my tracks and I recall a “rooftop concert” at Lycoming College. Kevin’s song “For Angela” is a highlight from the evinrude debut album, which received good notices and drew comparisons to Beck and Blind Melon. At the board is John Bechdel (Killing Joke, Ministry), who enhanced the synth-y groove of this enchanting track. Meanwhile, HB to KS and thank you for taking flight...

Don't love the wide slappers (bowtie), or the long slithers (spaghetti), or the straight fat tubes (penne). Wide slithers (fettuccine) are ok and skinny curlies are fine (rotini). Round pockets (shells) are the best cheese holders but the bigger they are the more they get like wide slappers so they gots to be little. Fat corkscrew tubes, my girl cavatappi, are the superior shape, especially for mac'n'cheese.
Standing in the pasta aisle eyes closed trying to picture the mouthfeel of different pasta shapes with perfect clarity in the theater of my mind
