How to Connect with Nature

Now you may have heard this phrase of “in order to connect with nature spirits first you need to be in nature.” Or something similar which is true but they don’t tell you how or the etiquette of spirits of the land. It’s more than just walking or sitting in a park it can most definitely help get to know the place but in order to really understand and bind with these spirits is to really communicate with them which is key.

First go to a local park, your backyard, local forest, wherever you’re closer to. Even a pot plant in your home will do. My favorite spirit to connect with trees and know the moss wives and wood spirites. Go to any plant or tree you’re feel drawn to. Just sit and feel the plant gently, if it’s a tree put your hand and use your intuition and it’s okay if you’re not feeling any energy this is the point. You’re trying to connect drawing in the energy and sharing yours, write down whatever comes to mind even if it’s wrong and exercise to get comfortable with your intuition and senses. Feel what that plant is feeling, is this tree masculine or feminine, is it happy or sad, what color are you relating this tree or plant in your minds eye. What are you feeling right now? Does this plant want you to be in its presence, communication with you? You may not know the answer right away but it’s essential to really get to know.

After you write down your answers in your phone or notebook, take any divination tool Tarot, Pendulums, Runes, Automatic writing, etc. and clarify what the plant or tree spirit is saying to you. There is nothing wrong with using divination before you connect with its energy if it helps you lot more. Think of connecting with the spirit as a handshake a mutual acquaintance and understanding what each others intent. Some spirits will talk to you immediately, some be hesitant especially if it’s area that has been mistreated by humans at times you can feel the hurt and sadness that spirit will release.

Once I held a broken branch from a tree that came from a forest area that was so mistreated and vandalized by humans that holding the branch almost made me cry as I felt it’s pain but also happiness that someone came along and was willing to help them and the forest. If you make your intentions known and why you’re connecting with them is important for them to know. You can leave offerings for the spirit just along its environmentally safe for it. Put fruits, crystals, coffee grounds to promote growing of vegetation, veggies, libations of water or tea. It’s best to research what foods are safe to be place in the wild in case any animal comes across it, for instance salted roasted peanuts can be harmful for Squirrels google your food items just to be sure! 

Now Asking For Permission

Now humans have tendency of taking without asking especially from things that cannot verbally consent or least they think they can get away with it because trees aren’t talking to them. It’s common courtesy to ask if you can take a leaf or berry or flower from a stem or tree because it shows you’re taking care of their feelings. The best way to do this is to take a branch you feel drawn to or a random one for practice, hold it in your hands and focus on the broken branch even when a branch is broken it’s still connected to the tree spirit. Ask out loud if you can take this branch with permission from the tree spirit, you may hear a voice in your head telepathically, a feeling of an answer. If you feel strongly the spirit is telling you should or shouldn’t then so be it you have an answer. By asking permission not only your connection is becoming stronger but all the nature spirits and guardians of that area sees that you’re honoring and being very respectful of the forest they will become very happy and comfortable more and more of you when doing so. Again if you’re not too sure on intuition there is nothing wrong of taking out your handy divination tool for clarification.

After Thoughts

I hope this was helpful for some people, I'm sorry this took awhile since I was trying to find the right approach of talking about this. It's hard to explain at times of connecting with spirits its all base on your intuition really and I know there's some people have a hard time with trusting with intuition but it's essential in paganism and witchcraft, yes even though your intuition isn't strong currently with time and practice of developing intuition it will become stronger and stronger.

I will also say meditation is also important and energy work, to feel and recognize certain energies is important when connecting with local spirits and nature spirits. I truly hope this blog is able to help people and understand it's not so complicated.

Prologue|•|Chapter 1|•|Chapter 2

You were six years old when your father died. He was a poet — a sickly one — named Damien.

He loved both you and Callum dearly, saying that his limited time on this earth only made him appreciate every breath, and every blessing life graced him with.

“A final breath of living night. The newborn sparks born of the dark. Breathe in the dusk and breathe out light,” was the last poem he gave the world, punctuated by the tears of the family he left behind.

Every stanza, every line, it was all so smooth, almost as if he wasn’t lying on his deathbed.

Despite only having him in your life for such a short time, his impact on you was long-lasting. You often found yourself chanting some of his poems like nursery rhymes, skipping and playing with the neighbourhood kids.

That said, you didn’t mind Harrow — Harrow. He insisted, that he wouldn’t accept anything more extravagant. No ‘King Harrow,’ or ‘Your Majesty.’ Just Harrow. — He was kind, and funny, and loved your mother. You’d even go as far as saying he loved you and Callum.

“Aspiro..~” a cheeky, nasal voice whispered through the ajar door to your room.

“Ack! Wha— Claudia!” You yelped, scrambling away from the book you were reading. A giggle chimed from the young girl as you swung the door open and pranced into your room with an attention-grabbing orb in her hand.

When you first moved into the palace, you never would have thought that you’d befriend the high mage’s children, and yet here you are.

You and Claudia, being the same age, quickly became inseparable. Shenanigans and tricks had everyone weary of when you two were together, but being seen apart was a much rarer sight.

Soren and you weren’t really as close. Sure, you two had very brain-rotting conversations and he was a good sparing partner when you wanted to get humbled, but aside from that, and occasionally including him in your’s and Claudia’s nonsense, you didn’t really spend much time together.

That didn’t mean you weren’t friendly with each other. In fact, him, you, Claudia, and Callum often spent time together as a group, giving Opeli a headache and a half.

“What’s that?” You ask curiously, composing yourself from the scare as if it never happened.

“It’s a primal stone.” Claudia began, an awe-filled grin etched into her face as she extended the sphere towards you. “It has a real storm inside it, can you believe that? A real storm!”

“Whoa…” your quiet statement of amazement only edged her on.

“Aspiro,” In that very same instant another gust of wind swirled in your face.

“Claudia!” You both erupted in a fit of giggles. “How’d you do that?” You asked, wiping a tear of laughter from your eye.

Claudia squealed, trying to compose herself as she motioned for you to wait with elaborate hand gestures.

You chuckled as you watched her ready the primal stone, breathing in before bringing her fingertips up to draw a glowing symbol in the air. “Aspiro.”

This time, you ducked, sparing yourself from the merciless breeze Claudia conjured. Raising an eyebrow, you looked up at Claudia with a skeptical expression.

“Peanut butter?” You ask, standing up straight again.

“Mhm, it’s what I had for lunch.” Claudia replied with a giggle. “Do you wanna try?” She asked, smiling at you.

“The peanut butter? No thanks Clauds, I already ate.” Your refusal was met with a cackle,

“No! The primal stone, silly!” Your mouth formed an ‘O’ at her clarification, before hastily agreeing as she passed you the orb.

“How do you do the symbol thingy?” You asked, fingers caught mid-glow.

“The rune?” Your confused nod prompted her to continue. “It’s like a ‘2’ with an short tail and another small curve coming from the point.” She explained, demonstrating in the air.

It wasn’t perfect, far from it, but it was good enough for the spell to work. Gasping in surprise, you look to Claudia incredulously.

“You did it!” She exclaimed, flapping her hands and wriggling her fingers in excitement. An accomplished smile found its way onto your face, chest puffing out proudly as you did the spell again.

This time, you weren’t so lucky.

The gust of wind caused the stack of books and scrolls pilled hopelessly on your desk to fall onto the wooden floor, thudding and crashing against the varnished planks.

Claudia’s lips thinned, sucking in a breath of air through her teeth. “Maybe we should give this back to my dad before he notices it’s gone.”

Your face paled, looking at her with horror. “He doesn’t know?” Your astonishment bemused came out in a shaky, breathy voice.

A guilty giggle is all you got in response.

That was the first time you used magic, when you were nine. That was five years ago.

And now here you were, fourteen years old, taller and oh so ‘mature for your age,’ hearing the dreaded news.

“Your mother, Queen Sarai, has…perished.” Opeli informed you, Callum and Ezran. “She has fallen in battle. The dragon king, Thunder, has… taken her life.”

Her voice was so clear — like she practiced saying that over and over again — yet her face held nothing but saddness. Not pity, genuine grief and hurt.

Life at the palace took a melancholy twist after that.

Without your mother’s lively, spunky presence, the halls seemed quieter, the rooms felt emptier, the walls felt more imposing.

You and Claudia began spending even more time together after that, occasionally causing havoc and occasionally getting scolded for the mischief the two of you sowed.

One day however, you found yourself alone. Claudia left you, sparing you with a quick “I need to go get something,” before dashing to the library.

Which is how you found yourself, alone, in the high mages office.

There were so many things in the opulent chamber. Various ingredients for dark magic ‘creative solutions’, bejewelled chests and troves, glimmering stones and crystals. Everything was so shiny, catching the light of the single candelabra that was stationed by the door.

Everything except one.

In the corner of the room, there was a tall, flat silhouette cover by a thick, obscuring cloth.

Strange…

Curiosity got the best of you, and within a few seconds, you flung the cloth off of the…mirror? What was so important about a mirror?

Unfortunately, the thrust of flinging the covering off the intricate looking glass extinguished the candles, darkening the room significantly.

“Damn it! Now they’ll know I was here.” You complain, before a bright, vivid light stops you in your tracks.

Looking back to the uncovered mirror, your mouth falls agape at the sight you see.

It looked like a library, but it had a very elegant, ethereal look to it.

Picturesque, blue, curved bookcases lined the wall; wreaths of evergreen leaves hanging above a ridiculously radiant fireplace whose flames flickered an unnatural shade of fluorescent orange; an ornately carved silver desk paired with a red-velvet cushioned chair in the corner; there was a huge, circular, spiral-patterned window at the right back; and the floor looked almost as reflective as the mirror itself. And there was a person.

Their cloak only managed to hide so much of their blue, star-covered skin. Strands of pure white hair peaked from the hood of their cloak, the shadows barely dulling its brilliance. They had such unusual eyes: dark purple sclera and light golden irises.

And they were staring right at you…

Fun fact: [Name] is fluent in Claudian.

I think this applies more just to my specific MC than to every MC, but I couldn't help but think that the cast resembles Disney's Snow white and the seven dwarfs dynamic. Where MC is the incredibly beautiful person who is in need of help, but is also very caring. And the RO's are a group with different personalities yet are all enamored or fond of MC, and would quite quickly want to help them.

That said, I think it applies to my MC specifically a lot. I have written about him before. Hopefully you remember Winfred (who named himself after Oswin, on who he has crushed on since forever). Since I imagine him as someone who is very caring, and likes to make sure everyone is okay and likes to cook for them and confort them and all of that stuff.

The reason I thought about this comparison in the first place is because I thought about the scene Snow white tells the dwarves to wash their hands before she serves dinner. And I just saw my MC doing it with the ROs. Like, I imagine the scenario in which Wilfred is with Oswin and hosting the other ROs, and just before lunch he asks them: "All right, did you wash yourselves before eating?"

And I imagine some may have. But I also imagine none (including Oswin) did just this particular instance. I know Oswin would get embarrassed and immediately go wash his hands; Duri would smirk and say he (I'm gay so for me the ROs are all male) doesn't need to, but would go after MC gives them a kind of fatherly disappointed look; Zahn would probably put no issue, but I imagine would make a joke about it; Rune... Well, I'm not sure, I think he probably would just go, somewhat conflicted he is being treated like a child, but also knowing Wilfred (my MC) is not doing it with malice but genuine care, so it's weird. Maybe he also makes sure the others go. And I think ??? would try to get away, and steal his portion of the food and hide, or would just go by inertia and then be like "what did just happen?". Although, as with Rune, I'm less sure about his personality.

By the way, I imagine Da and Pa would be present at this scenario, and laugh to themselves. They were the only ones who washed themselves because they know my MC and because they have enough life experience to know they have to do it.

Now, since I know I cannot ask you the reaction of every character to this. I would like to ask how would Oswin talk about such a scene after with MC. Maybe they are together at bed once they are going to sleep, and Oswin brings the subject because it's just so unusual he just has to ask about it.

But feel free to write something else, or nothing at all, if that's what you'd prefer.

I think your assessments in the handwashing are pretty darn close. Rune is quite a clean sort, so they've either already washed their hands or appreciate the reminder - likely putting the chokehold on Duri to get them to wash. Rune can be pretty stubborn, but agreeable depending on their opinion of a person or what's being asked of them.

I think if Oswin was having a moment before bed, maybe decompressing a bit with MC, he'd probably ask if MC realized how absolutely bizarre their group is. He'd talk about how MC seems to glue them all together. Especially if we're looking at a place and time when he's worked through his issues, he'd find a warmth in it and laugh about it. He's also going to ensure that no one gets away without handwashing ever again...

(Duri could be lured with peanut butter, but he'd have to sneak up and surprise ??? with water and soap) ^_^

Lucy Maclean (7w6 so/sx)- She starts the show bright eyed and trust full of everyone around her. As she develops we see her contrast with the ghoul. We see her integrate towards her 1 a bit more as the show goes on. While still keeping the golden rule.

Tanya (7w8 so/sp) While her desire for freedom for Edenia can be seen as good hearted she usually manipulates people to get her way. She schemes and uses other for her self gain rarely if ever caring of the colateral damage.

Hugo De Rune (7w6 so/sx)- Due to him being a child and infected with the Macula he tends to lash out and cause distraction. Even tho he has a general love and appreciation for life.

Luis Serra (7w6 so/sx)- When he left the village he set out to do some good in the world. Eventually leading him to umbrella and commit atrocities. In RE4 we see him trying to redeem himself.

Gambit (7w8 sp/sx)- While he started a bit apathetic to anyones needs he integrated well into his 1 and eventually joining the xmen.

Prince Naveen (7w6 sp/sx)- Meeting Tiana made him snap into place and start focusing on the longevity of his life and purpose. Best example of a 7 moving into 1.

Samantha Jones (7w8 sp/sx)- While she doesn't have any drastic development in the show. Samantha proves that you can still be kind, generous and a good friend without having to integrate. She is just happily enjoying life and its pleasures.

Unhealthy Self Preservation 7

Frank Gallagher (7w8 sp/sx)- The over indulgent of the life he lives ends with him essentially never taking into consideration anyone else's needs but his own. Eventually passing away in the end.

Frank Reynolds (7w8 sp/sx)- While he started like an organized business man in the show. We see how he devolves into a slob of a person who indulges in everything. Frank is basically the epitome of the 7s gluttony.

Ridby (7w6 sp/sx)- He is very immature and even the little development he gets in the show isn't enough. He doesn't really take into consideration Mordecai's feelings allot of the time and usually is the one to ruin things and cause trouble.

Healthy Sexual 7

Lucy Gray Baird (7w6 sx/so)- Always firm on her beliefs and where she stands morally. While she craves love and connection she doesn't let those idealist view of romance get in the way of reality.

Saga Anderson (7w6 sx/so)- Upbeat and caring, Saga learns to deal with the dark place and the how the story changes in AW2. We see her fall into pits of despair in the end a bit. But she remembers who she truly is and gets out of the dark place.

Harley Quinn DCEU (7w6 sx/p)- In the start of the DCEU we see Harley using relationships as a distraction usually ignoring reality in order to suit jokers. In BOP we see her fully detach herself and be happy being alone. Later on in SS 2020? we see her fully independent and not letting love get in the way of reality.

Unhealthy Sexual 7

Roman Roy (7w6 sx/sp)- Looking for love and connection in others. He tries to connect with his father and eventually Gerri. This connection not lasting long. In the end we see Roman step down as CEO and finding peace within himself.

Jobu Tupkai (7w8 sx/so)- This is what a 7 disintegrating towards 4 looks like. Jobu wants to find joy (no pun intended) and love with the relationship with her mother. However, throughout the movie she disintegrates towards 4 and believe that nothing matters. In the end she repurposes the idea nihilism into something more positive.

Mr. Peanut Butter (7w6 sx/so)- While he grows a bit through out the show we see how he doesn't out grow of his cycle of looking for relationships to ignore reality.

Wincest Unhinged #4 Bobby hadnt told Dean how bad Sam really was after the hounds. He doesn't tell Dean  Sam stayed awake for 4 days straight meticulously stitching Deans torn flesh back together, doesn't mention that he talked Sam out of going to the neighbors and asking for donations.

Thank God he asked Sam what kind of donations he was looking for, because Sam looked at him, eyes dark, cold, and so very empty that Bobby wondered if he was possessed, and said with an eerie calmness; "His organs are shredded, he needs new ones."

Bobby drugged Sam's food that night, convincing him that Dean would be upset if Sam didn't take care of himself.

Sam ate a peanut butter sandwich with one hand, and looked through one of the books he had dug up with the other, and eventually, passed out.

Bobby knew Sam was going to be pissed, and Sam could hate him for the rest of his life, but he was doing what was best. While Sam slept, Bobby prepared the funeral pyre, the salt, everything. He had to be very careful to move Dean's body, Sam had been sleeping with it, curled protectively around his brother's decomposing shell. Bobby had to hold his breath to keep from gagging.

He hoped he had given Sam enough medication to keep him asleep. He hadn't.

The moment Bobby tried to move Sam's hand away from Deans shoulder, he found himself fighting back the instinct to yell when he saw Deans skin slip off his body like a piece of dried leather and fall to the bed. He felt something press against his head, and heard the click of a gun.

"Fuck are you doing?" Sam asked as if he was inquiring about the forecast.

Bobby raised his hands in surrender; "Son, you gotta let him go, come on, you know Dean w-"

Sam pulled the trigger. Bobby felt his heart drop, unsure if the gun was empty, or if by dumb luck, had jammed.

"Dont tell me what Dean would want, he would want to be here, and no one is taking him from me."

 Bobby gave a small nod; "Okay, Sam. I'm…I'm just gonna go hit the books again, okay?"

"That's fine. Let me know if you find anything."

Sam came downstairs an hour later when Bobby called for him, telling him about a Shaman in Louisiana. Sam listened intently, taking notes.

"I'm going to take your truck." Sam told him. "I cant have Dean sitting in the backseat, too many people might see him."

No way in hell this Shaman thing was going to work, he was sending Sam on a wild goose chase and he knew it, but there was no way Bobby was going to let Sam put Dean's body in a cooler and haul it across the country.

"How about we bury his body?" Bobby suggested, and was pretty sure Sam was going to make sure the gun worked properly this time based on the look he gave.

"I can make a casket with a spell that will keep his body safe." He lied. "We just gotta get dirt from the location where he died, we can put him somewhere private where I can put up warding, then you can come back for the Impala.

Sam thought for a moment, fingers fidgeting with Deans amulet, glancing upstairs where Dean was, and then to Bobbys relief, nodded. "I'll go pack. we'll head out in the morning."

At sunrise Sam carried Dean out to the truck and gently placed Deans body in the casket Bobby had prepared, the wood littered with carved runes and different languages. Bobby pretended not to see Sam lean down and kiss his brother's lips ignoring the orange fluid leaking from his mouth, before promising; "I'm gonna come back for you."

 “I still don’t get why we’re doing this.” 

The demon, white eyes glowing despite the sheer brightness of the reflected light in blue ocean water, seems to swim in the air, riding a particularly angry current of air that makes his tail dance in its trail. His partner, a green-clothed avian with wide black wings- arched to pillow air beneath them- scoffed and shook his head.

“Kristen told us to. We don’t disobey the queen.” He reprimanded, swerving slightly as he turned his head to face him. 

“All due respect, my liege.” The demon playfully addresses him, sending a glare in his direction. “Traveling all gun-ho to an island that stopped death is in my opinion, a not particularly wise idea.”

“Yes, but-” The avian scans the water below. They’d been flying for a good half-a-day, the sun had fully risen from when they’d set off and was now beating cheerfully down on the both of them, glinting off the ocean like a sparkling jewel. “...Bad, if you were against traveling to this island, why did you agree to come along?”

“I dunno.” Bad attempts to shrug but only succeeds in making a corkscrew midair. “Something about the name.”

“Quesadilla Island.” 

They sit in silence for a minute, the only sound being the crashing waves and the avian’s wings flapping.

“...Maybe it looks like one.” Bad offers, the tone in his voice was explicitly wistful. “I’d like to see that.”

“Bad.” He corrects sharply, and the demon sighs.

“Phil, you’re so serious, like, all the time. It’s called Quesadilla Island. It’s gotta have a gimmick. Maybe a gift shop.”

“It’s a gimmick that’s stopping you from getting paid.” Phil argues back, Bad splutters.

“It’s only part-time! You guys pay me circus peanuts anyways. It’s a crime that you’re a business. A sin, even.” He pauses dramatically. “Though I suppose it’s what you want, silly underworlders.”

“You say that like you aren’t one, too.” Phil snorts. 

“Part-time.” 

It’s as they bicker that the air begins to change. The currents grow fiercer, overdrafts that would send them right back the way they came teased at the edges of Phil’s broad wings. The sky remained cheerful, the ocean danced happily beneath them.

“Bad. Wait.” Phil slows to a hover, and the demon curls around to face him. “Something’s wrong with the air.”

Bad remains silent, turning his head left, and then right. He had a talent for sensing souls, like an owl finding a mouse on the forest floor. He swivels to face the direction they were going.

“Phil. Do you feel that?” He asks quietly. “That lifeforce. It’s massive.”

They never saw it coming.

Both reapers were too focused on the wrong thing. Slavering jaws fluttered silently through the air above them. Green and black dripped from its hide, from its maw.

When it descended on them, they could not fight back. Bad went down first, crashing into the ocean with a beast’s jaws around his neck. When Phil dove to save him, he too, was caught.

They don’t remember the rest.

Sometimes, Phil will remember a white-walled room, black feathers wildly thrown about. Sometimes, Bad will remember that on his neck, just under his bandana, is a tight, runed collar. He will forget to try to take it off. 

They will always forget.

While there's not much that can be done about the guards, they gave Maverick a small book of tricks to keep fae like Maleficent or Twisted Neverfay contained in a certain area

4 large church bells blessed by a Catholic priest (he was absolutely delighted to be part of inconveniencing Maleficent, as he's been a victim of that hundred-year sleep,) as well as 8 small-ish ones

A couple dozen books on creating infrastructure (sewers, plumbing, electric grid, bridges, roads, telecommunication, water supply, etc.) They're hard to build now but it's better they already know what they're doing before they actually have to, as Maverick and the others pretty stubbornly insist on staying on the Isle after everything and seeing if they can make it work without be constantly sabotaged

Some tips on how to figure out what was wrong with their water supplies (rivers, lakes, etc,) so that Jasmine could start working with them to clean up the pollution in their water.

Veterinary rabies vaccines, five samples for every animal that can be vaccinated for rabies

Maverick is still preparing for a worst case scenario ("I expect the worst, so I prepare for the worst, so when the worst happens, I'm ready" and all that,) but she thinks, at the very least, these supplies and books can help them put it off or at least slow how rapidly it progresses. Jasmine is also considering sending livestock but, considering how nervous Maverick got about the idea (one of the cows had tried to attack Mordred and she is traumatized,) decided to put it off for a while to give the Isle time to recover from the idea of rabid cows.

And she's doubling, tripling, her efforts to get at least civilians off of the Isle. She can't take too many at once, knowing she would run the risk of collapsing the new systems she'd put in place, but she's trying. They're getting the children off first, because they're the ones who will be hit hardest by malnutrition and starvation, but the adults will follow as quickly as possible. Hopefully, by the time Beast realizes people are disappearing from the Isle at an alarming rate, they'll have at least gotten a half of the Isle's population evacuated. That'll make the lack of supplies easier on those who remain.

They're putting major plans in place to prevent or at least improve the future Maverick saw. And Jasmine is already drawing up plans for how she's going to make this all legal.

I'm almost finished with this chapter of one more harvest left to rot, so here we goooo...

He spared a bit of manifestation energy for a piece of chalk- barely a blip on any radar- and began to draw circles on the floor in front of the bed, his focus so intense he didn’t notice that Alastor and Vox were chatting back and forth until he was finished sealing the final rune with a flourish. “- granola wicca shit,” was what he caught from Vox as his attention opened up to include things other than the circle. He frowned and produced a crystal from his pockets- no need to manifest those. There was never a bad time to have crystals on you. “Don’t knock it if it works.” He held the crystal over the runes, letting it circle until it found its rhythm, the runes glowing as Lucifer pushed his intent into them. That silenced the peanut gallery, but Lucifer wasn’t self-assured enough to think it was because they were in any way intrigued or impressed by how cool his workings were. More than likely, they were waiting to see him fall on his face. They existed to humble him. Well, sucks to suck, but this was one of the things he was consistently good at, thank you very much. He might fail as a father, a husband, a king, an archangel, and a functional person period, but he was awesome at magic. The crystal burst with bright light that then immediately dimmed. Lucifer swung it around in different directions until it began to glow brighter when pointed at a southeasternly direction. “Got it.” Alastor burst out laughing. “You made a tracking spell? I could have done that.” “I didn’t see you jumping at the opportunity!” Lucifer spat back.

BIOGRAPHY.

briar rose zheng was born in the spring of 2001 in derry, ireland. her family, a middleclass muggle family, didn't have much in materialistic terms, she grew up loved and cherished. her mother is a registered nurse and her father a construction worker, and both are utterly ordinary ( in terms of magic ). while briar is the oldest of two girls, her sister tends to be the calmer more steady of the two siblings. briar has always been the more sensitive of the two sisters, often behaving like the younger of the two, and was quickly ( and lovingly ) branded a crybaby by her family.

artistic and optimistic, briar's first love has always been art. painting, photography, ceramics, any media she could get her little hands on. her parents always encouraged her to do what made her happy. painting would always be her favorite, followed closely by photography. even now, it's not uncommon for her to have a camera around her neck. as she got older her social butterfly nature became increasingly obvious. she made friends easily, even befriending those who seemed hard to get a long with.

briar's high school career was pretty uneventful. she did extremely well in her courses, kept an almost perfect point average and graduated early, at the age of sixteen. wanting to take a break before she attended college ( majoring in fine art, of course ), she decided to take a year off. within that time... things started happening. cookies floating off the baking tray, things disappearing into thin air... very odd, strange things. and then finally... a letter. at seventeen briar finally understood why she had deep down always felt like she didn't belong. briar was finally home.

at first, briar had no idea what she wanted to focus her studies on, and when her mother had suggested healing & medicine she had dismissed her altogether, but after falling ill and winding up in the hospital wing during her first year, she realized just how fascinating it was. she had always been altruistic and compassionate, and it felt right. helping take care of those around her. so she declared her area of study.

while briar has always aligned herself with the light, it became even more clear to her when cedric diggory was murdered last year. while they weren't as close as some of her housemates were to him, she felt the sharp pain of heartache when she found out he he had passed, and she knew then more than ever that she wanted to help people.

HEADCANONS.

her room at home and her area in the dorms are both covered in art. paintings, sketches, photography, anything you can think of she has it decorating her space.

is suuuuper clumsy. it's not uncommon for her to trip over her own feet.

doesn't often drink so she has a very low tolerance for it, and is usually pretty tipsy after a shot or two.

before coming to hogwarts her favorite mythical creatures were mermaids and sirens, and after being a student for three years, she's actually very of afraid of them and the black lake.
