i was able to see the beast (2023) in my college theater last night since the french program is having a film festival and ugh it was so worth the wait. i’m so so glad i got to see this in theaters with other people. it upped the experience tenfold. it was so unique and creative and weird and beautiful. it was tenet meets past lives meets twin peaks. very lynchian in the best way. it was one of those doomed by the narrative tragic love stories i adore. there were so many sci fi and horror elements i also really enjoyed. i hope this movie gets on more streaming services (rn its only on criterion) but it deserves a cult following. lea seydoux and george mackay were spectacular. this was the perfect mix of weird and beautiful. seeing this on a big screen was a treat. the music and the cinematography were amazing. i was the target audience. It's that time of year (Lord of the Rings rewatch time) and as someone who was peak age for the MGiME & crossover isekai fics, I have to know WHY are there no "Random Bat dropped into the Fellowship fics???

Give me Dick Grayson getting punted into the path of the Aragorn and the Hobbits and just adopting all of them as his little brothers, I neeeeed him to just weird everyone out, like they're all constantly like "are you sure you're not at least a half-elf?"

Imagine the GUILT the first time he has to kill an orc!! This self-sacrificing Dick just beating himself up completely over letting Frodo and Sam go, of losing Merry and Pippin. Just him keeping pace with Aragorn on the hunt and being just as good at fighting as the others.

Also, here is a sneak peak at a potential scene in the Steddie fic, if anyone is interested…

Before you read it, just know that there is mentions of food and wasting muscles because Steve was hit by a car (in this one) when he was five and he had to be in a body cast for a long time. Also neglectful grandparents? Is that a thing? Anyway, Steve’s grandparents doted on him before he got injured and now he misses them because they won’t come see him.

At first, Steve had thought that it was really cool to be stuck in bed all the time. He didn’t have to do anything. That got boring within a week and he still had at least a year ahead of him where he was meant to stay in bed unless he was in the bathroom or at a doctor’s appointment.

Even eating in bed, something that had once been unacceptable and even punishable before, lost its novelty pretty quickly.

He liked having his mom read him notes from the teacher and his classmates. He liked her reading him his homework assignments and writing down his answers for him so that he would still be on track. It made him feel like an important man, like his dad was going to be, with a secretary.

The thing is, though, that he really missed going outside. He missed playing in the woods outside of the trailer park where he lived. He missed going to his grandparents house with the pool and the stairs that he’d probably never be able to walk again. He could climb them, though, after the cast was removed. He was pretty sure. He might not have a lot of muscle left at that point, but that would just mean that he was lighter and had less to have to move anyway.

When Steve brought that up to his mother, her lips would turn into a very tight, thin line and something he couldn’t name would flash in her eyes. “You are not going to go to that house any time soon, young man. It’s best to let those ideas go.”

“But I miss Grandma Marty and Grandpa Pete, and they won’t come here,” he whined.

“The Harrington’s won’t come to the trailer park and you know that.”

“We’re Harrington’s too,” he’d say defiantly.

ok after rewatching mlp eps in kor dub on netflix (its rly cute!!!) i went hunting for more cartoons dubbed in korean and sat thru a few mid ones BUT THEN I FOUND!!! KIPO AND THE AGE OF WONDERBEASTS!!! KOR DUB!!! AND THE CASTING IS RLY GOOD TOO AAAH... im ecstatic... I've been wanting to rewatch this anyway im so excited to rewatch in kor... havent looked up the cast but recognize park jiyun (parfait cookie, also twilight in mlp dub lol) as kipo and definitely thats shim gyuhyuk (herb cookie, yoosung, khun xiao eunyung wei wuxian etc...) as benson... i screamed lmao... and not sure who wolf's VA is but she's my fav one SHE SOUNDS SO PERFECT OMG... also i forgot how good the anim and music and everything is PLS WATCH KIPO IF U HAVENT ALREADY

The pattern is that people straight up do not read™. or they read a 3-5 tweet summary of what happened and treat it as if they did. or because shonen expectations based on "the classics" is bullshit and significantly rotted people's brains when deciding wether an ending is good or not.

yeahhh. i will forever regret reading the last chapter through leaks because it was a dreadful experience, and watching everyone ever shit on it for like a week after genuinely made me want to just get off the internet forever or something because i felt like an idiot for liking the ending (all this is my fault for getting too invested in both tumblr and mha etc etc).

All the "it's rushed" and pacing complaints barely matter to me at this point because you just cannot feel the pacing of something correctly when you're reading it exclusively through leaks. you can't absorb info like that. And don't get me started on the number of complaints and criticisms I've seen of the last chapter that are just provably bullshit (I saw someone say Izuku didn't get a statue lmao. yes he did, you just read the fucking leaks and watched twitter drama unfold instead of reading the actual chapter i fear).
