A photo of me in April 2018. No filter and just mascara and eyeliner. I had been jogging/hiking at least 5 miles a day with my dog, Poe. In addition to daily spartan workouts, yoga, and intermittent fasting. I was in much better shape than I'm in now and nearly 40 lbs lighter. I would like to get back to this again and go further. Only close friends and family know that I was thin most of my life. Due to Depot provera shots in my 20s I gained 60 lbs in 2 months. And the weight gain got worse everytime I tried a different birth control pill. I believe it caused my Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). This year I admittedly let the stress of changing working and living conditions (due in part to covid) get to me. Along with figuring out a new relationship with someone who was 50 miles away (and only having experienced one other relationship with my ex-husband whom I met as a teenager). I regrettably tried prescription weight loss drugs (Qsymia) and then let one rude person calling me "fat ass" discourage me from daily walks with the dogs. But now I have someone (@d.j._s ) who loves me no matter what size I wear or what the number on the scale says, I'm finally starting to relax and learn to accept and love myself. I'm likely never going to get back to 98 lbs, a size 3 and a 24" waist. And that's ok and not important to me anymore. I realize now that trying to achieve such unrealistic goals was a recipe for failure. Not to mention shallow and unhealthy. And I was using it as an excuse to fail at times. Why exercise or eat clean if I'm never going to be as skinny as I used to be? Might as well get that junk food and lay on the couch. What's important now is feeling healthy, full of energy, and comfortable in my body. Ignoring rude people. Being a good partner to my significant other. Keeping the puppies healthy and happy with walks and adventures. Being able to do my job and hike 20 miles a day in rough back country. Health and well-being is more important than a number on the scale or dress size. #pcos #pcosawareness #pcosweightlossstruggle #pcosweightlossmotivation #pcosweightloss #pcosweightlossjourney #weightlossjourney #healthyliving #goals https://www.instagram.com/p/CDnV26xlSvB/?igshid=9tfpjycw2gvn

Tangible proof I wasn't always like I am now. Makes me reminisce about when I was skinny. Still wasn't pretty but people treated me nicer than they do now. Having beautiful friends like @team_mighty_mouse I saw how differently attractive people are treated. At least when I was thinner I wasn't getting called fat ass just walking down the street. I'm not posting this for attention or pity, but to raise awareness that it's important to be kind to others. The drunk jerk who called me "fat ass" last week while I was walking the dogs (while his dogs were in tiny kennels with no shade) probably already forgot he said that. But I'm still trying to get over it. Humans are social animals and when you're told your appearance is not acceptable then it makes you feel isolated, alone, and rejected. Like you are worthless. People who are unattractive and/or overweight are already struggling and aware of their situation. It doesn't help to remind them of it and make them feel like they would only have value if they were thin and beautiful. I'm not talking about accepting obesity as healthy; just that there isn't a need to be mean about it. If you see a fat girl walking or working out at the gym don't offer a negative response to a positive behavior by calling them a fat ass. Really best not to say anything. We already feel self conscious. If you have a fat co-worker don't comment on what they eat at meetings and potlucks. If you want to help bring oranges instead of donuts and cookies. Bottom line is you can subtley encourage healthier choices with us fatties without being blatant or mean about it. #fat #fatgirl #fatgirlproblems #bodydysmorphia #bodyshaming #wordscanhurt #bekind #bekindalways #positivity #positivereinforcement #ifyoucantsayanythingnicedontsayanythingatall #obesity #obese #pcos #pcosawareness #pcosweightlossstruggle #hurt #hurtssobad #toomean #fatty #usedtobeskinny https://www.instagram.com/p/CCCRpkVFYCo/?igshid=11wbor8hjb8t

Today was core day. It feels so good to finally get back in my routine after two months of screwing off. It's been tough since I had a bad fall up in Jarbidge in June. Then reinjured my shoulder in the Spartan race in July. I gained 21 lbs in 6 weeks! With PCOS that's what happens if I'm not exercising at least a couple hours a day, fasting 3 days a week, and sticking to Paleo/keto. It gets so frustrating especially when I see people who are skinny who don't exercise or diet at all. But it doesn't accomplish anything to envy others or despair about my lot in life. I gave in to my depression and self pity. I could have kept running with the shoulder injury but didn't. And I ate like crap the last two months. All I can do now is focus on making healthy choices and getting back on track for my physical and mental well-being. #pcos #pcosweightloss #pcosweightlossjourney #pcosawareness #pcosdiet #pcosweightlossstruggle #fatgirl #fat #fatgirlfedup #spartan #spartantraining #depression #depressionawareness #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #warrior #mentalhealthwarrior #backontrack #backonthewagon #stickwithit #keeptrying #dontgiveup (at Wells, Nevada) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1ZbMpvAsT1/?igshid=6d9hcoz0euec
