Has any of the people looking for alternatives to Stripe and PayPal ever experimented with Paddle? Do mind reviewing it, if you did? 馃

Just spent an hour trying to sign up for DC Infinite and their billing system is jacked to hell and back and simply would not accept any payment methods on any device.
And like, look I was trying to do this the "correct" way and all that shit. Physical comics are expensive and I've found that I have a harder time reading them in physical format than digital these days, idk blame the adhd. But like, Firefox's VPN is less expensive than their monthly option and I've been meaning to get a virtual machine setup anyway.
All of which to say, it's time to raise the flag methinks.

So, you know all those bad laws I tell y'all to call your senators to kill? Well here's a good one for you to promote!
Basically, you know how payment processors freak the fuck out if even the slightest whiff of adult content shows up on a website, which has lead to the widespread sanitization of the internet?
Well, this bill, S.293; aims to prevent that crap!
And, it's currently in the Committee of Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, so if your Senator is one of the following, call them and tell them to vote yes on it:
Sherrod Brown, Ohio, Chairman
Jack Reed, Rhode Island
Bob Menendez, New Jersey
Jon Tester, Montana
Mark Warner, Virginia
Elizabeth Warren, Massachusetts (Tell her it would be a start on apologizing for voting yes on FOSTA/SESTA)
Chris Van Hollen, Maryland
Catherine Cortez Masto, Nevada
Tina Smith, Minnesota
Kyrsten Sinema, Arizona (ugh)
Raphael Warnock, Georgia
John Fetterman, Pennsylvania
Tim Scott, South Carolina, Ranking Member
Mike Crapo, Idaho
Mike Rounds, South Dakota
Thom Tillis, North Carolina (Probably not reaching this asshole)
John Kennedy, Louisiana
Bill Hagerty, Tennessee
Cynthia Lummis, Wyoming
J.D. Vance, Ohio (Ugh)
Katie Britt, Alabama
Kevin Cramer, North Dakota
Steve Daines, Montana
If they're one of those right-wing dipshits, tell them it would help them prevent "cancel culture" via socially-conscious payment processors. Because subterfugue towards conservatives is always cool and good! Always!
Also mention that, in a happy irony, this would actually make kids safer by allowing platforms to acknowlege that, yes, people make a living selling well-endowed monoecious horsegirl drawings on their platform, and actually put properly finetuned safeguards in place.
As opposed to now, where they have to dance around it and put it in a grey-area hell so that Peter "Dracula" Thiel doesn't get his seastead in a shoal and ban them, which nobody likes!
So, call 'em if you can, boost even if you can't!

So I bought some cheap stuff on gumroad that would have potentially become lost media otherwise. Made an account so that it would stay in my profile鈥檚 library. Let鈥檚 see if the ban of content retroactively takes this stuff out of people鈥檚 accounts or not. I鈥檒l be a guinea pig. Stay tuned into tomorrow & I鈥檒l update this after the 24 hour window is up.

Finland's infamous online message board Ylilauta has removed advertising on its website over the summer as the site transitioned to a user paying model last year.
"Yes, all our financing is now independent of others," the site's administrators wrote in a reply to Yle.
Ylilauta reported last year that it had 2.5 million monthly users. It has not publicly disclosed the number of paying users.
The decision to remove ads was voluntary, according to the site's management. However, there have been a number of problems with the site's advertising model in the past given some of the controversial content posted on Ylilauta.
Police found casino advertisements illegal
Yle MOT reported last year how Ylilauta paid millions of euros in dividends to its owners in tax havens. The proceeds were obtained, among other ways, by selling advertising space to online casinos.
The advertising of foreign online casinos is prohibited in Finland. The police could have imposed a fine on the gambling promoter.
Finnish police first intervened in Ylilauda's gambling advertising in 2021. Lauta Media, the Maltese company that owns Ylilauta, has denied violating the Lotteries Act.
However, in June it said it would remove the gambling ads to please the police.
"As a gesture of goodwill, Lauta Media will take steps to remove banner ads from foreign gambling companies," CEO John Farrugia wrote in a response to the police department.
Google removed its own ads from Ylilauta
In July, Tivi reported that Google had removed its own Adsense ads from Ylilauta because the forum violated its rules on hate speech and harassment.
Tivi cited the discussion threads exposed by Svenska Yle in June as an example. Ylilauta users had posted pictures of women without their consent.
According to the site's administrators, there are no longer any ads on the site, which also improves the user experience.
Ownership transferred to Estonia
Ylilauta is owned by Lauta Media, registered in Malta. The largest owner is Aleksi Kinnunen, the founder of the forum also known by the username Sopsy.
Kinnunen has owned around 32 percent of Lauta Media through Goldhill Holdings, a company registered in Gibraltar. In May, however, he transferred the shares to Pulju O脺, registered in Estonia.
The rest of Lauta Media is owned by Halonen Holding, registered in Gibraltar, and Sissonen Capital, Stelbur Capital and Huhtikuu, registered in Finland.

Might look into gumroad or subscribestar for people who are jumpy about porn sites but want my premium audio...
Also, subscribestar appears to allow ALL kinks as long as the content is fictional, which...given I like petplay, mommy/daddy kink, and noncon...might be a better option? I just might not be able to post pictures there, unlike NF and LF.
Just thinking thoughts!

I'm so tired as a NSFW artist on other sites having to tie myself into a tighter social noose just to be able to post smut online.

If you follow me on any of my socials you may have seen that I've been struggling to get a payment processor for selling suits. I wanted to move away from PayPal because the fees are sucking me dry (and not even in the fun way)
I tried SumUp, but it was incredibly frustrating and ultimately failed. My account was glitched (stuck in verification hell) so I contacted their support, and they immediately requested a bunch of additional documents to prove my identity. I sent them what they wanted, and then they immediately just decided to... shut my account down with no reason as to why, and no way to appeal. I suspect it may be because I'm a solo freelancer rather than a registered business, but that's my best guess. No matter what the reason, it was extremely unprofessional. Just radio silence after taking my personal bank details and government issued identification. If I didn't know multiple other freelancers who use SumUp, I'd be suspicious they were a front for identity theft or something, with how unprofessional and glitchy the service was.
I've been like "Oh I think I have payment set up now! -Uh actually nevermind its still messed up" all week, and its just as wild for me as it probably is to everyone watching this happen.
My friend (@ terminalvortex ILY bestie) recommended Stripe so I tried that and it seems to work WAY better. It has lower fees, accepts international payments, and was way easier to set up.
My hope is that Stripe will be my permanent payment processor and that I will never have to switch processors ever again.
I was successfully able to get a Stripe invoice paid from my other friend (@ fillycolt), who I will be making custom insect wings for after Anthrocon! (Also, it has been EXTREMELY helpful throughout this entire process, it worked with me through the whole SumUp ordeal, helped me test invoices, and has been incredibly patient, so I'm really grateful for that)
So with that being said, I will OFFICIALLY (FOR REAL THIS TIME I PROMISE) be listing all the paws I've been posting WIP shots of on my Dealer's Den account (linked in my pinned post) throughout the day today. I pray this is the last time I will have to make a technical update about payment, and can just get back to having fun making suits. Thanks for your patience everyone!
