me watching people completely boil down Albert and Mycroft’s relationship to a trope
Like cmon they are not some fanon trope 😭. For one they work well together back when they were both working together for MI6 and have a lot of trust in one another. And they clearly care about each other. Albert watching Mycroft with a soft smile and knowing about his relationship with Sherlock, and Mycroft commenting on the state of Albert after he is out of the tower mentioning that he doesn’t look well. And of course there’s the fact that the only communication (correct me if I’m wrong) that Albert had in the tower was with Mycroft via their carrier pigeon Charlie. They are some “soft wine aunt x hard stoic government” trope. They are two men that work well together and have been shown to care about each other. Idk about alcroft as a ship BUT they are good friends so STOP making them a fanfic trope!

on a rating of 1-10 how would you rate mtp volume 7
Honestly, I don't know. My expectations from this manga already plummeted so I don't have a reference abt how I would note them. Like, it's supposed to be a manga about Moriarty, most famous enemy of Sherlock Holmes, most famous detective in the world. So it's supposed to be smart, you should expect it to be smart. And it's not.
So maybe a 3?
We had twice a supposedly brillant plan being stupid if you think abt it for more than two seconds, hypocrisy, William and his friends being artificially ridiculously OP and cool, all the non-Moriarty and co characters being incredibly stupid
But above all, the author's sexism and his treatment of the sex workers. I'll talk more abt this in my next review but it's not possible anymore. Women only exist as object, and mostly to be tortured and badly treated. There's no talk abt how being a woman is hard, especially at this time, and you barely hear them at all (with the only exception being Irene, and she became a man *facepalm*)
The only really positive thing I have to say abt this volume is this:
Yes, Watson is bit unhinged too

Very specific MTP anime scene we need to talk about more
Cuz I really like it :]
Spoilers for Moriarty The Patriot anime and manga [specifically the "Noahtic" and brief mentions of "The final problem"]!!
Warning: long post lol
->The "Noahtic" Act 1 and 2
This has to be one of my favorite anime openings to an episode in MTP. It starts off with a man getting hunted by, who we later learn, is Blitz Enders, the "villain" in William's play. The opening itself has a very dramatic look to set the mood. This blood red lighting is usually seen when an important death is about to happen [example: Og William's death].
We don't really learn about the man who got hunted, but rather, we learn more about the hunter; a bit about his personality and why he is the target of William. It shows us that Enders is a man who hunts humans, his targets being peasants [if we analyze the clothing the victim is wearing], and is definitely not going to come out of this experience alive.
Not only that, this scene is important because it plays again at the end of Act 2, when Enders tries to escape from the guards. The scenario is turned on its head, with the hunter getting hunted; the victim in the opening now being Enders, the hounds being the police men and finally, Moran taking the role of the "hunter".
I kid you not, I was so hyped when this scene came to play. I genuinely love the juxtaposition in this specific scene; the differences, the similarities and, the final cherry on top, William's smug smile being the final thing Enders sees before he plunges into the ocean.
I also really like the fact that Enders goes absolutely insane in this episode. Him slowly but surely breaking down, eventually snapping and seeing himself as some sort of savior is so fucking good I was that shit up.
[To expand on the savior complex point, random tangent incoming] When Enders had the whole "I'm getting rid of the rats in this ship" speech, it made me think about William for some reason?? I think it was because of the similar yet very different sense of "justice" between the two. William's sense of justice is more righteous, as he doesn't deny the fact that, yes, he is one of the "devils" he is trying to exterminate, he is very guilty of his crimes, no matter the motive. Hell, the whole Moriarty plan hinges on his death as a way to end the murders. Enders, on the other hand believes that he is righteous and can do no wrong, a very stark contrast to William's methods and beliefs. He is "killing the rats", not because the "rats" have done wrong, but rather the "rats" very existence is wrong, and that the upper class is perfect without them. I'm not sure if this was intentional but yea, it's still pretty interesting.
If there is one thing I noticed about these episodes, its about the victim of this case. In the manga, the victim was a peasant who didn't do much wrong. We don't really know who he is. Maybe William didn't really look into him that hard and was waiting for Enders to choose a random man to hunt, all he needs is to have Enders commit murder and be in the spotlight; it doesn't matter who the victim is.
In the anime, however, we get some information on him; what crimes he committed and how he was paid by Moran to annoy the shit out of Enders. William did look into him, we know that this man, whoever he is, has been specifically chosen by William because he is a criminal.
This difference in both the manga and the anime shows William in two different lights. If we go by the manga's version, we can interpret William with "the end justifies the mean" principle. He is willing to sacrifice a possibly innocent person just to get what he wants, that is, Enders death and putting his crimes in the spotlight. It paints William in a morally grey light, that he is ambitious, and sometimes that ambition can get in the way of his righteousness.
In the anime, William knows and actively guarantees the fact that he [the peasant] is the victim of Enders' crime. He makes sure that the victim is someone who is no better than Enders and that made him William's target, killing two birds with one stone. It paints William in a morally light grey light, that he is much more calculating, and while you can say he is ambitious in his goals, his ambition does not get in the way of his righteousness.
I honestly prefer a mix of the two. I think it was interesting that the victim was possibly innocent, further justifying Enders' death and a reminder to the audience that William is not THAT righteous, that he is willing to bend the rules to his favor, even if it costs an innocent life. It makes William much more nuanced and fits well with his character.
I also really like the plot point where Moran paid the victim to actively annoy Enders; it shows that William really has orchestrated the perfect crime, accounting for every single detail, down to the victim as well.
In short: the Noahtic is a very good episode and I'm glad the anime didn't really shy away from certain details of the story. Do I like the manga better? Yes, while the animation is really well done, I still prefer the manga as it has more plot to it, not to mention the episodes the anime left out [example: The hunting in Baskervilles]. Whenever I recommend MTP, I'll always say "read the manga first if you want more plot", since it's gonna take a while for the next season about the NYC arc to come out lol.
I'll prob make another tangent related to Liam and Sherly but for now I'm gonna go study since that's the reason why I stopped posting online too much.
Have a good day everyone :D

Slight spoilers for Moriarty the Patriot op5
1: Obviously Sho and Ryo are acting flawlessly. But DAMN! Kenta (John) and Ryoki (Fred) really went all out. 110% emotion
2: Sherlock’s hyperventilating in the beginning during the prison scene was actually really great acting and very realistic. I love this detail. 👌🏻
3: William’s whimper during the bridge scene was a great addition as well ❤️
4 Sherliam’s high five was *chef’s kiss* adorable (They’re both adorable) and Yes I said this already in the last one
5: Unfortunately my attempts to translate Shogo and Ryo’s 3 end speeches have failed(miserably) If anyone could send me their translations that would be so very much appreciated. I can do without subtitles for the musical but I really need them for the end speeches since I don’t know Japanese. Obviously when the cast laughs something funny was said and I’d like to know what it was lol I know this is a strange request and I’m sorry.
6: Oh yeah. And Louis’ physical reaction(I.e his hurt look and running away) to the people when they sing about William being the Lord of Crime is great. I assumed it expressed something like: “he’s not the monster you think. How could you all say he’s a demon, he’s my angel.” Obviously I don’t actually know what they’re all saying but I love his reaction. Very genuine.
7: My heart clenched so hard at the end when everyone looked so defeated and depressed. And especially when William (pretty much the whole time) looked so exhausted and defeated.
8: This musical in particular did a fantastic job at being more realistic (I.e my points about Sherlock and William) and gave so much more feeling and emotion to the characters and story.
End of rant 2 🥰
Will there be another? Maybe if I watch it for a 3rd time and find more things to say lol

We like to talk about reading comprehension a lot on this site but no one in the history of humankind has worse reading comprehension than the people who were convinced to join the military because of the metal gear games.
#like these people played the games where literally every character rants at length about how becoming a soldier ruined their lives#and someone sees that and goes WOW WAR IS AWESOME SOLID SNAKE IS SO COOL I WANT TO KILL PEOPLE WITHOUT REMORSE GOD BLESS AMERICA#congratulations you have somehow missed the point of one of the most unsubtle anti war series ever made#if you watch the mgs2 GW patriots censorship codec call that’s just before the final boss#and don’t immediately want to destroy the us government for practically letting exactly what GW is describing happen today#or at least think deeply about it in anyway something is wrong with you#also mgs has been calling out video games being used as a propaganda tool for getting people to join the military since mgs2#and especially mgs 4 which is crazy when mgs4 came out in 2008 and call of duty has been getting even more propaganda heavy as the games#go on#sorry for the larger amount of tags I’ve been thinking about this for a while and I needed to rant about it#mgs#metal gear solid#metal gear

“(For what it's worth, I don't see Mrgh bits of this aspect in the canon. I have see a lot of aphobia in fanworks for this series)” if you don’t mind, can you please expand on this? :)
This is such a deeply complicated question!
Romance (as a genre) and fandom both have widespread aphobia problems in general. Society does, and because of fandom's focus on sex, romance, and shipping, and romance's focus on the same really bring a lot of those biases out unexamined. Even among fandom people who are a-spec, a lot of them haven't really examined or dealt with those identities in a way that allows for a lot of unpacking of biases. Unpacking biases really requires participating in a community centered around the marginalization, and many of them have fandom-centered communities, or IRL communities of another type.
Unless you follow a blog like mine, where I've been actively involved in the aro and ace communities entirely separately from any fandom activities for a decade, I don't think a lot of fandom people are exposed to this kind of thought and study. And it is a whole field of study, truly. So they just end up parroting the same biases from the rest of society without realizing what they're doing, even if they know words or something.
As for YuuMori, and why I don't find a lot of problematic content on this particular subject (because there are definitely messages it's had I don't agree with or moments that ruffled my feathers the wrong way--it's far from perfect), there's a lot to talk about.
Primarily, YuuMori is not a series that focuses on sex or romance. It's a crime and mystery shonen series. There are almost no canon romantic relationships, and most of them are fairly sidelined. And even with Sherliam, which has so much narrative and canon support for a romantic reading, their relationship is not special because it is romantic. It is, potentially, romantic because it is special (and oh boy is that an a-spec understanding).
YuuMori is in so many ways a celebration of weird and undefined relationships. It's a celebration and has focus on relationships that society is just going to find weird, off-putting, and unacceptable. And that's so queer, and I love that, and while I can't say it's specifically queer on purpose without a very candid conversation with the creators discussing things they haven't yet discussed publicly, it's rich and wonderful and very Relationship Anarchy, which is very common among a-spec people.
In sum, YuuMori is just not a series that dismisses or marginalizes ace or aro experiences. It is not a series that idolizes romantic or sexual relationships. It is not, even, one that finds them particularly necessary.
But once this series comes in contact with fandom, especially in the West, people...start ignoring that. Suddenly Moran and William's weird relationship becomes romantic or sexual, and Albert and William's relationship becomes weird and sexual, and Louis and William's relationship becomes weird and sexual. And on and on. And each of these individually: not a big deal. But when it becomes so omnipresent, it's tiring. It's a cultural swarm of material that adds up to a lot a-spec people feeling once again alienated and dismissed.
And people start obsessing over what romance might be canon and why and which ship makes sense and why and which one is most fun to discuss and why and what does everything think about the sexy and romo potential of things. This is just a fandom thing, but it's just very tiring.
Sherliam's relationship is, of course, the core relationship in the series. So of course fandom focuses on it a lot. But wowwww, the way it becomes the only thing people focus on...
I'm tired.
And as for (a non-exhaustive list of) specific things in this fandom that really bother me on this topic and which I find hurtful as an a-spec person:
Any time people refer to Sherliam's relationship (or any romantic ship) as deeper or more important or more than their relationships with other people (because it is romantic, obviously). That's just a direct aggression, micro or otherwise depending on context, against a-spec people. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it. Please stop writing things like this, just in general. Different. Other. Not more.
Goddamn stop referring to wanting sex as being human or normal or healthy. Please do not explain an attraction as, "well, I'm a man," or "well, I'm human," or "well, I have needs." Just. Just, fuck off with all of that. This is, once again, something from greater society, but I see it so much here.
Once more, Sherliam's relationship is potentially romantic and sexual because it is special. It is not special because it is potentially romantic or sexual. Yesus Christ, relationshipsp are often special for other reasons.
Any time a character (WIlliam, Louis, Fred, maybe) is referred to as growing up or becoming adult or learning about relationships or whatever because they want to engage with these things when they didn't before
Ignoring the rich specialness of each relationship to make it romantic. Even when making them romantic, they have such interesting richness and different dynamics, like real romantic couples each have their own special quirks.
All these fucking asks I get asking about which person is "most" important to Sherlock or William or whatever. There is no reason to put relationships in these kinds of hierarchies. We can have it all, and no one relationship could or should be prioritized in such a way that all others can or will be abandoned.
Why do I get so many asks seeking canon support for their ship. Please just ship your thing.
Why do I get so many asks I get asking about shipping things? Did I piss off a god in a previous life? I want to talk about storytelling and narrative, goddammit, not speculate on the potential for romantic pairings. It's another one of those things where culturally is just focusing so much on one thing to the point of marginalizing other things.
