BOSTON — Francis “Cadillac Frank” Salemme, the once powerful New England Mafia boss who was serving a life sentence behind bars for the 1993 killing of a Boston nightclub owner, has died at the age of 89, according to the Bureau of Prisons.
Salemme died on Tuesday, according to the Bureau of Prisons’ online records. Bureau officials did not immediately respond to an email seeking more information on Sunday. Salemme’s death was first reported Sunday by WPRI-TV.
Salemme led the Patriarca crime family in Boston in the early 1990s before helping prosecutors convict a corrupt FBI agent after learning that other mobsters had been talking about him to authorities.
Salemme, who has admitted to a slew of other gangland killings, was living in Atlanta under the name Richard Parker when remains of the nightclub owner were unearthed in 2016, making the elderly ex-Mafia don a government target once again.
Salemme’s 2018 trial became a flashback to the days when the mob was a feared and powerful force in New England. Salemme maintained he had nothing to do with Steven DiSarro’s death, but was convicted after his onetime best friend testified against him.
Salemme participated in numerous killings in Boston’s 1960s gang wars and spent 16 years behind bars for trying to kill a lawyer, who survived but lost a leg, when his car was blown up in 1968. After being released from prison, Salemme was seriously wounded in a shooting outside a suburban Boston pancake house.
His reign as Mafia boss ended when he, notorious Boston gangster James “Whitey” Bulger and others were charged in a sweeping racketeering case in 1995. Salemme and Bulger fled after they were tipped off to the impending indictment by Bulger’s FBI handler, John Connolly Jr.
Salemme was arrested in Florida several months later while Bulger spent 16 years on the lam before being captured at the age of 81 in Santa Monica, California. Bulger was killed by fellow inmates in prison in 2018 at the age of 89.
The racketeering case revealed that Bulger and Salemme’s best friend, Stephen “The Rifleman” Flemmi, had secretly worked as FBI informants. Upset that his fellow mobsters had turned on him, Salemme agreed to plead guilty and cooperate with authorities.
Salemme testified in 2002 against Connolly, who was convicted of helping Bulger avoid prosecution. In exchange, Salemme was released from prison early and entered the witness protection program.
At his 2018 trial in Boston, Salemme’s slicked back, wispy grey hair and thin frame made him almost unrecognizable from the bulky, feared mob boss jurors saw in grainy surveillance photos from the 1990s.
Another former mobster told authorities that he saw Salemme’s son strangle DiSarro while Weadick held the nightclub owner’s feet and Salemme stood by. Salemme’s son, known as “Frankie boy,” died in 1995.
DiSarro’s nightclub, The Channel, was under scrutiny at the time for the Salemmes’ involvement in the business. Just before DiSarro’s death, the FBI told him he was about to be indicted and should cooperate with the government against the Salemmes.
Salemme’s longtime attorney, Steven Boozang, said Sunday his client had been nothing but a “gentleman” to him and he believed the man “regretted a lot of the things he had done in his life, particularly the effects it had on his immediate family and the families of others.”
Before being sentenced to life in prison in 2018, Salemme rose from his chair, called the proceeding “ridiculous” and said DiSarro’s family hasn’t been told the truth. But he seemingly predicted years earlier that his own story would end behind bars.
You’re not going to beat the government,” Salemme told a reporter in 2004. “Let’s face it. One way or the other, they’re going to get you.”

When Francis Ford Coppola’s movie The Godfather came out in 1972, it changed the way a lot of guys on the street acted? According to former LA crime family member, turned informant, Anthony Fiato, after seeing the movie, Patriarca underboss Francesco "Paulie" Intiso and soldier Nicky Giso, altered their speech patterns closer to that of Vito Corleone's. Intiso would frequently swear and use poor grammar, but after the movie came out, he started to articulate and philosophize more.

This Is A Robbery Ending Explained: Who Stole the Paintings From the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum?
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
If you’re anything like me, you speed-raced through the four parts of Netflix‘s This Is A Robbery: The World’s Biggest Art Heist docu-series, aware that the creators behind the documentary were almost certainly not going to break this 30-year-old cold case wide open, but also desperate to see what conclusions would be drawn. As much as this is a documentary about the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum heist, it also quickly becomes a story about organized crime in Boston and New England circa 1990, and the methods with which the FBI investigates. Because of this, the final part of This Is A Robbery focuses on the Boston Mafia and the FBI.
Who stole the paintings from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum?
While This Is A Robbery is careful not to make any declarations about who actually pulled the heist (because, like the rest of us, they don’t actually know), the docu-series does seem to come to the broad conclusion that it was probably the Boston Mafia (also known, among other things, as the Patriarca crime family), active in New England at the time. This certainly seems to be what the FBI believes, and they have access to information that the public does not. As This Is A Robbery outlines, the FBI has been focusing on an organized crime connection more or less from the get-go, using interrogations, undercover informants, and sting operations to collect information.
The Bobby Donati Theory
One particularly sticky theory (first suggested to the authorities by art thief Myles Connor) is that gangster Bobby Donati, who was active in the Boston Mafia at the time, organized the heist as part of a strategy to negotiate boss Vincent M. Ferrara’s release from prison. At the time, the Patriarca crime family was in the midst of an internal struggle for power and the documentary suggests that Donati wanted Ferrara out of jail in order to ensure he would not be killed by the rival faction. Donati was found murdered roughly a year after the heist, which adds some credence to the theory that he was involved in the theft. If Donati had plans for the ISG art, he didn’t live long enough to enact them, and the artwork would have likely been left to other members of the Boston Mafia with no specific plan for what to do with it.
The Carmello Merlino Theory
The final part of This Is A Robbery goes into the FBI’s theory that the artwork ended up with a Boston Mafia faction run by Carmello Merlino out of an auto repair shop in Dorchester. This Is A Robbery explores the theory that, at one point, Merlino gang member Robert Guarente had some of the paintings. His widow, Elena, told the FBI and others that, when Guarente got sick with cancer in 2004, he gave the paintings to Robert Gentile, a Connecticut-based member of the Merlino gang, for safekeeping.
If Gentile does or did have the paintings, he is really not talking about it. When in federal custody, h took a polygraph test that indicated he was lying when he said he didn’t know anything about the theft or the location of the artwork. During a retest, he said that Elene Guarente had once shown him the missing Rembrandt self-portrait, and the polygraph indicated he was telling the truth. However, according to Gentile’s lawyer, when asked about the paintings on his apparent deathbed (Gentile later recovered and is still alive today), Gentile said he did not know anything about them. It seems likely that, if Gentile did have information about the ISG heist, he would have used it to get a reduced prison sentence—but, hey, maybe he just really hates the FBI.
It’s also worth noting that Merlino himself died in prison in 2005, even though he was told by the FBI immediately following his 1994 arrest that all charges would be dropped if they could reveal the location of the stolen art.
What information did David Turner give the FBI?
This Is A Robbery suggests that Merlino associate David Turner gave the FBI some credible information regarding the stolen artwork in 2012, leading to an extensive FBI search of Gentile’s Connecticut home. They obviously thought they were going to find some of the artwork, but they, um, did not.
Turner has been under investigation in connection with the ISG heist since 1992, when a source told the FBI that he had access to the missing paintings. When Merlino was arrested for cocaine trafficking in 1992, he told authorities that he could return the paintings for a reduced prison sentence. Turner was the person he turned to in order to try to make that happen; Turner was, ultimately, unsuccessful, though the fact that he had information for the FBI in 2012 implies that he knows something about the whereabouts of the paintings. Turner was released from prison in 2019.
Could the Netflix doc help solve the case?
One of the most fascinating aspects of the This Is A Robbery docu-series is the way in which it serves as a much more effective way to get information out there about this missing paintings than, frankly, any FBI press conference ever could. Netflix has more than 70 million U.S. subscribers and This Is A Robbery is sure to be watched by many of them, as it fits nicely into the true crime fad we are very much in right now. It’s unlikely that a random person on the street has more valuable information about the missing artwork than the FBI has gathered in their investigations over the past three decades, but you never know. The ISG is still offering a $10 million reward for information leading to the missing artwork’s safe return.

What do you think happened to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum’s missing artwork? Let us know in the comments below.

* "5 out of 5! The release is sourced from an exclusive new 4K restoration that is simply a thing of beauty. I think that it is the best work that the folks at Blue Underground have done to date... All in all, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the folks at Blue Underground have produced the definitive master and release of ZOMBIE. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!" - Blu-ray.com
* "Blue Underground has delivered the definitive home video release of ZOMBIE... It's difficult to imagine this 4K remaster and three-disc limited edition ever being dethroned... One of the most extraordinary cult cinema packages I've ever come across. I haven't awarded this site's highest rating to a title in more than two years, but Blue Underground's astonishing efforts here are richly deserving. DVD Talk Collector Series" - DVD Talk
* "ZOMBIE is a spaghetti splatter cornerstone that looks better than ever in Blue Underground's new 4K restoration-one of the few absolute 'must-own' releases for horror fans this year!" - Rue Morgue
* "Fulci gets so many elements of this film right - atmosphere, gore, story, decent characterization. This is Criterion-level treatment, and in some ways even more impressive. Undoubtedly, some of the best work Blue Underground has ever done, and if you're familiar with their transfers that's saying a lot. This is a no-brainer pick as one of the year's best home video releases!" - Dread Central * "Blue Underground's work on this title blew all of my expectations out of the water - the transfer truly is a revelation. After years of seeing this film in substandard quality, it's a shock to see it in such pristine quality - almost as if it was shot yesterday. Add to that a large extras selection and you have one of the finest Blu-ray horror releases of the year. Beyond recommended!" - The Digital Bits
MANIAC
The Notorious Horror Classic! Now on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray!
Frank Zito (a career performance by writer/executive producer Joe Spinell of ROCKY and THE GODFATHER fame) is a deeply disturbed man, haunted by the traumas of unspeakable childhood abuse. And when these horrific memories begin to scream inside his mind, Frank prowls the seedy streets of New York City to stalk and slaughter innocent young women. Now Frank has begun a relationship with a beautiful photographer (Caroline Munro of THE SPY WHO LOVED ME), yet his vile compulsions remain. These are the atrocities of a human monster. This is the story of a MANIAC.
Directed by William Lustig (MANIAC COP 2, VIGILANTE) and featuring landmark gore effects by Tom Savini (DAWN OF THE DEAD, FRIDAY THE 13th), this relentlessly shocking and disturbing film was originally banned or censored all over the world due to its graphic violence.

* "5 out of 5! It is sourced from an outstanding 4K remaster that will end up being the final makeover that the film gets on the home video market. The bonus material that was gathered for the release...is beyond overwhelming. Simply put, the folks at Blue Underground went to work to produce the definitive home video release of MANIAC and they delivered it. As far as I am concerned this is the type of top-quality work that deserves a perfect overall score. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!"- Blu-ray.com
* "5 out of 5! This new 4K restoration of the original true 16MM negatives looks absolutely stellar. The folks at Blue Underground have absolutely done this film justice with this new 'Limited Edition' Blu-ray Disc release. The e New England LCN Patriarca Family members & 1 associate who were framby FBI Agent H Paul Rico(top right) in the 1960s. Patriarca Family members Henry Tameleo..Louis Greco ..Peter Limone & associate Joseph Salvati(left) all had one thing in common They were enemies of former Patriarca Family associate & FBI Confidential Informant Joseph Barboza AKA The Animal(right middle) Barboza & his partner in crime & fellow FBI Confidential Informant Vincent Flemmi AKA The Bear(right bottom) murdered a low level Boston hood named Teddy Deegan & then conspired with their FBI handler the currupt Agent Rico to frame the four Patriarca wiseguys. Barboza testified in open court that the four mobsters had killed Deegan..NOT him & Flemmi..& despite the fact that all four had alibi & none had any reason to kill the lowly Deegan..unlike Barboza & Flemmi..ALL four were wrongfully convicted & sentenced to life. Barboza & Flemmi didn't last too long afterwards..Barboza was killed by future Patriarca Family Boss JR Russo in San Francisco while in WitSec in 1976..& Flemmi overdosed in Prison in 1969. Tameleo was the 1st to die in Prison in 1982..followed by Greco in 1995..neither saw the light of day again..but Limone & Salvati were finally exonerated & released..Salvati in 1997 & Limone in 2001. Agent Rico..who was indicted for murder in 2003 for helping Boston gangsters James Bulger AKA Whitey & Stephen Flemmi..brother of Vincent..for plotting with them to kill executive Roger Wheeler..was questioned about framing Tameleo Greco Limone & Salvati..& replied.." Whattya want from me..tears.??" Luckily for Rico he passed away in 2004 before he could be tried & convicted As far as the four wrongfully comment..Limlne & Salvati & the surviving family members of Tameleo & Greco recieved a huge settlement from the Federal Government ..over 100 million altogether.. In an ironic twist to this story Peter Limone..aftrr spending 33 yrs in Prison for a crime he didn't commit..went on to become The Patriarca Family Boss from 2009 until his death in 2016. In my opinion that's the craziest part of this insane story. (at Greenpoint, Brooklyn) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9k2yH4FllO/?igshid=sr40456rcb7m

Retaliation - A Story of The Night
Just dropped a blog post: http://www.mephron.com/2017/10/26/retaliation-a-story-of-the-night/
Retaliation - A Story of The Night
Allston, MA 10:22 PM Mellisa Flanagan, or more accurately with how she dressed and with her clip-on hair extensions on, Marishka Petrovskaya, walked down the block, a few blocks from the club she'd kidnapped a mob boss's son from a few weeks before, hands in her pockets and head down. She was going to her favorite (not favorite) dive to talk to someone she could get information from. The weather was cool, and a little rainy, and she wasn't enjoying it. She would have preferred to be up there, above the streets, running across the rooftops and launching herself with her swingline, the wind in her face. So intent in her grumpiness was she that she nearly was surprised by the three large men in t-shirts, jeans, leather jackers, and boots, all with the particular hairstyle popular with the not-quite-made-men associated with the Patriarca crime family's street muscle. One of them sported a bandage across the front of his somewhat crooked nose.

devon here !! and down below is the DL on my new character. criminal benny decavalacant, brother to avery simmons and here to wreak havoc ...
Was that ( JACK O'CONNELL ) I saw hanging around ( BUILDING 3 ) ?? No, that’s just ( BENEDICT 'BEN' DECAVALACANTE ), a ( 26 ) year old ( DRUG DEALER / CRIMINAL ) who has lived in ( 101 ) for ( TWO DAYS ). I hear they’re ( ADVENTUROUS ) and ( PIONEERING ) but can be ( SELFISH ) and ( VOLATILE ) if you catch them on a bad day !!
The DeCavalcante crime family is an organized crime family that operates in Elizabeth, New Jersey and surrounding areas in the state is is part of the nationwide criminal phenomenon known as the American Mafia, or Costa Nostra. They operate on the other side of the Hudson River from the five families of New York, but they maintain strong relations with many of them, as well as with the Philadelphia crime family and the Patriarca crime family of New England. Its illicit activities include CONSTRUCTION, BUILDING AND CEMENT VIOLATIONS, DRUG TRAFFICKING, EXTORTION, FENCING, FRAUD AND ILLEGAL GAMBLING, HIJACKING, LABOR RACKETEERING, LOANSHARKING, MONEY LAUNDERING, MURDER AND PIER THEFTS.
Benedict was born into this family and growing up, he couldn’t think of anything cooler. When he was small, he used to love watching the old noir crime dramas and mafia thrillers. Safe to say that was as much insight that he had on the matter. But boy, did he aspire to be just like them someday. Years later, he began getting into a bit of trouble himself. Selling drugs off the side when he could snatch some up. His dad beat him bloody when he found out he was stealing from his supply. From there, he sat him down and explained how things worked. He owned a business, and this wasn’t some game where he can just fuck around with anything and everything. There was a time and a place, and most importantly, rules.
For a time, his dad allowed him to do a few errands and gave him a chance to prove himself. He was quite good at it, and he liked the money. But the time to show his dad that he can be a man to hand over the business to one day never came. His father was much too involved in the real stuff to notice and alongside him was Ben’s older brother. His right hand man, he’d call him.
For years, he tried to be the golden boy but he couldn’t ever quite live up to his older brother’s rep. If they weren’t so close he would’ve hated him, although there were times when he thought he did. Not only was he born into this legacy, he was born under a shadow. Not even his brother’s untimely demise could make it disappear. He was devastated of course, and he gave into the drugs. One of his dad’s many rules, was never use your own product, yet he threw the rulebook aside to wallow in his grief and self-pity.
Finally, it was his time to shine when his dad gave him an assignment and he did so well on it that he gave him a share of his business. very miniscule and tiny, but it was big to Ben. That’s where we leave off, this is his new location and he’s excited for what’s in store.
MORE about him for the little things on his about page here !! :) like this and ill come looking for plots !!
Connections will be created / added to a page soon enough !!

Martin Shkreli sent to federal prison, denied minimum security camp!
He better get used to making that face alot. Hes gonna be someones girl in there…
CNBC Reports
“Pharma bro” scammer Martin Shkreli has been sent to a federal prison in New Jersey to serve the remainder of his seven-year sentence after being denied his request for a minimum-security federal camp.
Shkreli, who had been in a Brooklyn federal jail since September, was shipped Tuesday to the low-security Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey, according to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
The prison is located on the U.S. military base at Fort Dix, about 80 miles from New York City, where Shkreli lived, and 30 miles from Philadelphia. It houses 3,945 inmates.
Shkreli, 35, in March had asked to be sent to the minimum-security camp adjacent to another federal prison in Pennsylvania, FCI Canaan.
His sentencing judge endorsed that request. But the Bureau of Prisons has the last word in determining where to place its inmates.
Shkreli’s lawyer Benjamin Brafman declined to comment Wednesday.
Brafman previously said that Judge Kiyo Matsumoto’s ruling last September that Shkreli was a public danger would prevent him from being sent to a minimum-security camp because of BOP guidelines.
Camps are considered safer for inmates and are relatively more pleasant places to do one’s sentence than facilities that have higher security designations.
Matsumoto had said Shkreli was a danger as she revoked his bail for, among other things, his bizarre offer toFacebook followers of $5,000 for each strand of hair they managed to pull off the head of Hillary Clinton, who at the time was in the midst of a book tour.

Fort Dix Correctional Institution
Shkreli until then had been free on $5 million bail despite being convicted in August of defrauding a group of hedge-fund investors and of manipulating the stock of a drug company he founded, Retrophin.
Fort Dix’s past inmates have included Buddy Cianci, the corrupt mayor of Providence, Rhode Island; high-ranking Patriarca crime family boss Matthew Gugliemetti Jr., and George Jung, the former cocaine kingpin portrayed by actor Johnny Depp in the film “Blow.”
Fort Dix also has housed Martin Frankel, the insurance swindler whose crimes led to $200 million in losses. Frankel was featured on CNBC’s crime show “American Greed,” as was Shkreli, recently.
Matsumoto last month sentenced Shkreli to seven years in prison. She also ordered that he forfeit almost $7.4 million to the federal government, and pay a $75,000 fine.
Last week, Matsumoto ordered Shkreli to also pay $388,000 in restitution to one of his investors.
Shkreli first gained…
