Welp. Things get weird with the anesthesia department from time to time. Today a patient, left unsupervised for 5 whole minutes in their surgical ward, chewed their central line out...

I listened to reading of some askreddit threads (don't judge me, it's a guilty pleasure) about doctors and healthcare and I notices some major division on topics when the answers were from the doctor's POV and patients' POV. I'm of course not qualified to draw conclusions from this, nor is Reddit a good place to get data, but here are some recurring points I found where the doctor and patient position appeared to be different.
Doctor POV: we can always tell when people are faking pain for opioids. It's extremely obvious.
Patient POV: multiple doctors accused me of drug seeking when I was actually in agony from stones, appendicitis, endometriosis, a tumor, etc.
Doctor POV: people who try to diagnose themselves are really annoying and counter productive.
Patient POV: I only figured out what was wrong with me by searching the internet after multiple doctors dismissed or failed to diagnose me. Alternatively: I went in with a good idea of what was wrong based on past experiences/family history/ etc and the doctors didn't take me seriously. Some would even refuse to do tests to check if the self-diagnosis was correct.
Doctor POV: the phrase "I know my body" is usually used by people who don't know what they're talking about. We are the ones who know medicine so we can tell if you're sick or not.
Patient POV: I knew something was wrong with me because I know my body and know when something isn't normal. The doctors wouldn't take me seriously and told me nothing was wrong after only doing basic tests.
Again, Reddit is not a good place to get data as the nature of the website encourages people posting more sensational stories and exaggerating or fabricating stories to get upvotes. In addition, most of these stories are likely far from the average doctor and patient experience. However, it appears that there may (emphasis, may) be a disconnect between doctors and patients that involves doctors not taking patients seriously and thinking they know better than patients about their own bodies. It seems like defaulting to thinking patients exaggerate pain to seek drugs and that patients don't have any way of understanding their own health is really detrimental.
Do not take this post as me saying you shouldn't go to the doctor. If you need medical help, go to the doctor. The medical system isn't perfect, but it's the best we have. And go to an actual doctor, not a naturopath, homeopath, or other quack.

My friends and I were all doctors in House M.D. and the only obvious symptom was that the patient had no face or head. Just like. A void.

Resting with Belphegor
You're laying on the couch, face up with Belphegor draped over you like a weighted blanket. His breathing is steady and slow. His arms are wrapped loosely around your shoulders. His face is snuggled into your chest. It's warm and it's comfortable and it's peaceful as you scroll your D.D.D. The house is quiet. You absentmindedly run a hand up Belphegor's back while searching for new content.
Thunk.
Oops.
Belphegor stirs with a snort, inhaling a little too fast in surprise. You scramble to pick up your fallen D.D.D. and hide it between the cushions. His forehead is already turning a light shade of red, but you know demons are hardy. He'll be fine, physically speaking.
Hands grip your shoulders. Two dark and narrow slits glare at you from inches away. They would be threatening if Belphegor didn't look so pouty, his cheeks almost puffing up with anger.
"Sorry." You try not to smile while apologizing. It's a difficult task when he looks more cute than scary. "It won't happen again."
Belphegor huffs. His chin digs into your sternum but his grip on your shoulders turns weak. "You said that the last three times. I should curse you."
"But I really didn't mean to!" you insist. "I said sorry."
"Aahh, it hurts so bad." The red dot where your phone made contact with his head is hardly even visible. "Ow, I'm so badly injured. Look what you did to me."
Belphegor's acting skills have really degraded since he came out of the attic. Or maybe he's too lazy to put actual effort into it anymore.
"You want a bandage?" There might be some in the kitchen. It wouldn't do anything, though, and he would have to get up for you to treat him. You wonder if his head alone could crack your D.D.D.
"No, but I think a kiss will make it feel better."

My jaw has been bothering me for over a month. Can’t yawn or breathe deeply without pain. Sometimes I can’t eat in the mornings until the Tylenol has kicked in. I’ve been to 3 different dentists, including a fancy specialist that of course wasn’t covered by my insurance. I went to my primary when my ear stared hurting too, went to an ears nose and throat doctor that just hadddd to be a referral and took weeks to get just for that to be a dead end. The pain increased to the point that I wanted to stab my ear to make it quit. I was at my lowest point and decided fuck it, let’s go to an urgent care because god knows I’ve done everything else outside of going to an emergency room. I was told they only had PAs available due to short staffing which had me a little worried, not going to lie.
The very sweet lady that couldn’t have been more than 25 and was severely overworked said with very wide eyes, “I know this is going to sound crazy, but I believe it’s a swollen sinus.”
As someone that has no allergies, not even seasonal ones, and doesn’t even have a stuffy nose, I was pretty skeptical. She said the swollen sinus is putting pressure on my jaw which is in turn putting pressure on my ear and they are all linked.
However, she prescribed me medicine, something none of the other doctors did. And wouldn’t you know it, my jaw is no longer hurting and my ear pain is barely noticeable and it’s only been 24 hours.
The 3 hour urgent care visit was worth it.

how many former patients do you think think back to that weird, crude, insane doctor that finally got them the right diagnosis after being told "nothing's wrong" or "i don't know" and think of him fondly? people who were put under house's bizarre care and come out deciding he's good and kind even if his methods are strange. i think more than one might imagine

eleven is fascinating to me because he came right off the back of tens horrible traumatic breakdown after he lost everything and he immediately tried to establish himself as the opposite of that. he is funny and goofy and almost childlike, and he bulldozes on in his adventures with amy like nothing happened at all. but then something happens and his masks slips and it's like oh! the core of this man is still anger. he is so so angry all of the time and this façade is the only thing stopping him from being consumed by it. he isn't over any of it and he hasn't moved on. he is wearing a fez and laughing but under that all that exists is age old anger and grief and it is going to consume him
#i do think that this pit of anger was eventually covered and soothed by the ponds#but he didn't adress it and he couldn't even look at it until he was twelve#when he stopped pushing back and repressing everything and finally allowed himself to exist as he was#but ok listen#its all layed out in the first 3 episodes of season 5 and in the way amy sees him#episode 1. here is the new doctor he is energetic and reeling and fun#episode 2. the space whale comparison. here is the new doctor. he is unthinkably ancient and almost godlike but he is so so kind#and patient and good. he is ancient and lonely but he can't stand to see children cry. so the doctor helps people#episode 3. daleks. the doctor is a soldier. these are his age old enemies. he wants them dead and he will stop at nothing#all logic and reason vanish. he is hitting the dalek with a pipe and yelling his head off while amy watches in horror#like obviously we know why but amy didnt#this is not a sane or rational man he is unstable and angry#and in that episode he was stripped back to what he largely is: hate#you would make a good dalek ect ect ect#anyway 3 episodes with 3 very distinct and equally definitely traits layed out like: here you go#i don't like elevens era much but those first 3 episodes were great#doctor who#eleven#amy#eleventh doctor#matt smith#dr who#dw#i mean idk this is what river literally had to spell out for him#eleven was careening completely out of control#how long til doctor means warrior indeed?#mine

I want a doctor to tell me it's absolutely necessary they manually examine my tcock and butthole as well as the rest of my body so they can assess if the hrt is working properly. I want them to take measurements of my dick when it's soft, then stimulate me to assure it's maximum length before measuring it again.
Oh, they have a colleague who has never had a trans patient before, surely I won't mind if they come and take a look at me too, yeah?
Then one of them could stretch my ass with their gloved fingers and the other would present how to properly stroke and tease my swollen cock till I'm trembling and moaning...
Of course they would tell me out loud what they're doing and how important it is I relax in the meantime, that's a standard procedure, nothing to worry about :)
