Teeny tiny pineapple block quilts by artist Amy Pabst
Here's some with my hand to give you an idea of scale on each block:

I did get to chat a little with Amy while she was in her gallery zone. She said she works often with silks, including reclaimed ones, and she finger presses her work rather than using an iron. The pastel rainbow piece above is called Soft Pride, measures 41cm x 41cm, has 11,925 pieces, and took her about 4 weeks to make. She does not use a magnifying glass while she works, relying purely on her eyesight, but she does make sure to take regular eye rest breaks every 10-20 minutes.

I promised to post some pictures of the big blue star hexie quilt laid out on the floor yesterday and then forgot to do it. The quilt is now so big I had to turn it the other way so it would fit in the room. It is not easy to get a picture of the whole thing. I stood on a stool and held my phone up by the ceiling to take the full shots. The stool made a loud crack under me as I did that and I thought maybe I should not be doing this while home alone. I climbed down pretty quickly. Anyway, one more side panel to go and then I will attach them all to the middle. Then I have to decide on the final border. Progress will slow from here on in while I work my way through my UFO pile. All five quilts on my UFO pile require quilting which I will have to do by hand.

I started doing English paper piecing the evening of January 28th, 2024. The pink flower in the center of the image above was the first I made. Today I finished this top.
Now to get the quilt sandwich made and start quilting it!

I had a nice pastel jelly roll and found this cute pattern at MSQC. I picked out the light teal for the pinwheel accent and a soft beige for the border and binding and did some simple straight line quilting on my domestic.
I should do this again. It was fun and fast and looks great.

🗣🗣🗣 DRAMA GOING DOWN IN THE SCRAP HAPPY QUILTERS FACEBOOK GROUP!! 🚨🚨🚨🚨
Sorry I'm too lazy to transcribe all the screenshots
Anyway
A lady called Vanessa posted this quilt in the group
Tumblr media
Someone made a complaint about it for being political (lololol if only they had seen some of the political quilts that are out there) and the admins took it down, and now people on are losing their minds

Statement from the artist:

Anyway I have thoroughly enjoyed reading these comments. There were lots in opposition to the horror of a political quilt lmao

A patchwork quilt fit for a spring fairy picnic, with vintage floral fabric found at an antique shop. I finished this quilt top last spring. It only took me eight days to make, and then it took me another year to baste, hand quilt, and bind. Not that it actually took that long, it’s just that I kept putting it off for other projects. But such is how these things go sometimes!
