✨ShadowPeach Bio Parents Bio AU Q&A! 28/10✨
Tumblr media
I'll be streaming on my Twitch page TOMORROW at 1PM ET!
Welcome to the Q&A! A space where I can answer related or similar question about the Shadowpeach Bio Parents AU! If you submitted your ask anonimously, then you’ll have to check the whole post if it’s answered here, if it’s not, worry not! Your asks might have been used for a future comic or just in the queue~
Anonimo ha chiesto: Will MK have a power neither Wukong nor Macaque have ?
Probably something that is a mix of each parent power, creating something new. Like- He can hear the past, but can also use his gold vision. SO maybe he learns not only to hear to past, but also see it (but maybe instead of being gold the vision is purple)
Anonimo ha chiesto: Does MK have nightmares about LBD or Azures death or something? @the-ninja-girl-in-blue ha chiesto: I swear for some reason, even after returning back to his normal age, I still can’t help but picture MK having a nightmare in the middle of the night and just starts chirping in his sleep because of it and that ends up getting the attention of his two monkey dads. I can’t help but picture them either waking him up and asking him about the nightmare into his bed to cuddle with him to hopefully calm him down. I also kind of like the idea of them offering to let him stay in their bed with them for the night. basically, I just wanna see them comforting MK after he has a nightmare. For some reason, I could see the nightmare being about either LBD or about the ending of season five when he attempts suicide.
Yes he does have nightmares about that. He usually does, most times he's at Pigsy's, and Freenoodle is there to help him. He hasn't had a LBD nightmare at FFM yet, but even as an adult he would totally chirp without noticing it.
Anonimo ha chiesto: Angst idea what if heaven was scared of MK being the "harbinger of chaos" and took him away as a baby locking him away instead. It's up to you if wukong knew of his existence before he was taken. Eventually someone or something releases him. MK Finds out why he was locked away and just goes on a rampage through heaven bonus angst wukong has to stop him
Do heaven even knew he was the harbinger of chaos? Like seriously I don't remember if it was ever stated in the show. Honestly is crazy no one picked up that kid aurea. Makes you wonder who te fuck put such a powerful glamour on him when he was found by Pigsy.
Anonimo ha chiesto: Hi :D i wanted to say that i LOOOVE the bioparents au, it's so lovely 💖 and, i must ask, will we get more cliché scenes with our little monkeys? like accidental fall or something on this lines? i need my clichés back 😭😭
eeehhhhh maybe? I'm not too much of a fan of clichè I'll be honest, mostly bc I see them around all the time and I prefer to do something new.
Anonimo ha chiesto: I think it would be funny if MK started subconsciously mimicking things from his friends and family. little things like putting his shoes the same way Teng does. Standing in the same posture as Mei. Ext. Monkeys often will mimic each other as a sign of fondness and affection. Monkey see monkey do.
I think he already does that in the show with Wukong sometimes! It's super cute!
Anonimo ha chiesto: Okay hear me out, since mk kinda saw their past and everything. Does mk possibly have small abandonment issues (not that he doesn’t already) and does he hear little moments in the past of macaque and Wukong’s pain. By the way I absolutely love your art!!! I check your page everyday. 💕
I think if he ever said that to Wukong he'll make sure that every.single.day. he reminds him that he'll never leave his side.
@tinyplanetss ha chiesto: regarding the latest biodads update, did wukong ever know that macaque panicked and lashed out way back then due to seeing his "betrayal" in his future vision? i can't imagine it would've come up before he mentioned it to mk, unless they had a talk about it after their rooftop apology.....
I think they talked about it during the night Wukong apologized to Macaque. The comic I did stops after a certain point but they talked all night about what happened.
Anonimo ha chiesto: (Macaque on some late night mission): I've got to get back before Wukong realizes I'm not in bed. (Wukong who woke up and had a nightmare): Macaque.. MACAQUE
They can't stand being apart anymore now.
@eerieqloss ha chiesto: Wait I got a question, at the beginning of the Shadowpeach bio parent AU When they found out MK was their son biologically through Nuwa of course. But how did they get to her and ask her? I don't know why this question just randomly appeared in my head
Now that MK "opened the gate" access to other deities is much more easier.
@bottyshaker-900o ha chiesto: Wait! Does MK know they sleep together now!?
He did 2+2.
@youroriku ha chiesto: If MK monkey form is showing more or will there be a comic where he lost Control over it ?Recently, fewer people talk about it. Btw i love your art ❤️🌸🫶
mmm... Maybe not in my current timeline. Maybe more in the future. I don't think MK himself wants to loose control again like with Azure
Anonimo ha chiesto: Hii love your art! Wouldn't it be funny if someone was trying to have a serious conversation with Wukong and Macaque and baby MK is just climbing all over their shoulders and they're completely unfaced by it cuz it's like 'yeah this is normal just let him play' but whoever they're talking with can't focus on anything but MK's shinanigans.
hehehe baby shenanigans my beloved
Anonimo ha chiesto: I'll admit I'm more into the chubby, dad bod gang for Wukong but the way you draw buff wukong also makes me happy too! ^-^
Thank you!
@ketsuruithekiller ha chiesto: I like to suffer. So I would like to know if Wukong still has thoughts of guilt. If he fully accepted Mk's decision not to be his successor, without having the idea that like others he would hate it and leave at some point.
ye he does sometimes have the paranoia. But MK is there also to remind him that he'll always be in his life.
Anonimo ha chiesto: Are Wukong and Macaque, in your bio parents au, back together? Or is it a situationship? I'm sorry if it's already been stated in the story or if you've already answered something like this. I'm just a brain-dead potato who loves your comic.
Nah they still are in the progress of having to forgive each other but they are very much in a situationship.
Anonimo ha chiesto: Ello Ello, do you think any of the three monkeys would know how to take care of a sick person? Or would they just have to go to sandy or pigsy or someone?
I think yes. Canonically by JTTW, Wukong is an expert in many fields, including medicine. But I do wonder if sometimes he forget after so many years of reclusion that people can get sick.
Anonimo ha chiesto: So Wukong was stuck in the memory of MK sacrificing himself ? Was it identical to the scene in season 5 or was his dream different ? Poor Wukong looked so traumatized
It was the same as S5
Anonimo ha chiesto: I love, LOVE your bio au! I enjoy a lot!!!! Question! Wukong and Macaque have any chance to go to a date?
mmm maybe in the future
Anonimo ha chiesto: I know Is not the case but At some point, hasn't Pigsy felt a little jealous or strange of how MK goes directly to Wukong or Macacke when he has a problem?
I think Freenoodle is taking the opportunity of having the second set of parents to annoy the heck out of them and redirect all the akward questions and advices the kid ask them because "we had to do it for 21 years now you get to have the annoying part of parenting as well"
@azureandcrimson ha chiesto: Hello!! I absolutely love your art and I am currently watching your twitch (Which I can't log into and type in chat for some reason😭) but anyways. I also have a question if you ship Mei with anyone? Like a side character or Spindrax or someone else or if you make her Aroace or just don't generally ship her or smth! :) But besides that I love your art style and the way you draw everything!! Thank you for drawing this stuff and feeding my LMK hyperfixation!!
I do also ship Dragon fruit. Just in my comic I kind of had to choose one ship for now.
wolfsonic ha chiesto: Since we know WuKong is the bottom of ShadowPeach. Who's the bottom in SpiceyNoodles?
MMMMMMMMM TOO SOON TO SAY.
@draxeanlxia ha chiesto: Bio!Parents AU question, who does the laundry and who’s not allowed to touch the laundry because he’ll ruin your clothes without meaning to? For me, I think Wukong would be the one doing laundry while Macaque isn’t allowed near the washing machine. But that’s just me, what’s yours?
yeah seems fitting!
Anonimo ha chiesto: If MK started blushing when he saw Red Son in his true form I wonder how he would react to seeing Red Son shirtless with muscles and abs in that form XD
I headcanon MK as demisexual so probably he would notice and appreciate the aesthetic attraction but wouldn't be TOO flustered. In this case, it's RedSon who's the Wukong of the two of them (being flustered by like, seeing 2% of MK back or smt.)
Anonimo ha chiesto: So I wondered if Xiaotian's powers were like Steven's, since they responded to his emotions
yep.
Anonimo ha chiesto: If they decide to have a baby who will be pregnant macaque or wukong!?
I think I said it already once but I don't think that's how baby Stone Monkeys are born??? Like how would carry a stone inside your body work that's the thing. There's is to say they are demons who knows how they work honestly.
Anonimo ha chiesto:Will the calabash return ?
nope
Anonimo ha chiesto: Does Mei have a true form? Doesn’t seem fair that MK and Red Son have super forms and Mei doesn’t. I think she should be able to be a straight up dragon.
Doesn't she already goes straight up dragon in the show?
@phantom-premeir ha chiesto: Okay this is a pretty dumb question but I gotta know, out of the monkey trio whose the biggest crash out,just an absolute mess of a person?
I think Wukong
Anonimo ha chiesto: Are we gonna see a wedding of these gay monkeys?
Who knows.
@azureandcrimson ha chiesto:Oh my gosh, the new chapter is amazing, now we defiantly know Macaque has probably courtnapped Wukong >:3 I also have another question! Perhaps in the future will Macaques sacrifice be brought up? Like, yeah, he came back. But the guy was gone for days and who knows what he saw in there and/or what memories he saw because he was probably stuck in those for days. But just wondering if you might bring that up in the future? :) Make sure to take breaks, drink water and eat something!! >:(
Oh yeah that ahah. Maybe?
Anonimo ha chiesto: Imagine MK's sacrifice in season 5 would happen AFTER Macaque and Wukong found out that he is their son. This would make it even more heartbreaking
Bruh... Xiaotian wouldn't have been able to move an inch again from Wukong after he came back.
@autism-autobot ha chiesto: Wait... Is Wukong going to have to find a new successor now that MK won't be it?
Maybe what he will look for wont be a successor.... but an heir.
Anonimo ha chiesto: Is the monkey's tail sensitive or smt!? I mean what will happen if u pull it ?
We r getting into NSFW territory here...
Anonimo ha chiesto:who do u think is the fluffiest monkey? Also what happens if said monkey got towel dried and poofed up?
MK, becasue he's a cub by stone monkey standard. He would become a fur ball.
arrow-artzz ha chiesto: Hello! I just wanna say, I love your art style and this whole ShadowPeach parent au ur making and I get so hyped and excited when I see a new part/ep come out!! I hope ur having fun with it and keep up the great work, you do a fantastic job, and you also inspire me to keep trying small art projects at home!! I truly hope you’re having a wonderful night, after noon or night! also think it would be cute if the whole gang did a movie night (Halloween movie) at FFM and one scene comes up and macaque used Wukong as a shield as if the movie was real :3 sorry this was long I tap a lot “^^
I think Wukong would be the one scared. Macaque is literally has sleep paralysis monsters has pets

For fun how about rating Wukong ship from lmk and give your opinion why?
SWK Ship Ratings
(Scores rank from -10 at the lowest, and 10 at the highest)
Tumblr media
Shadowpeach
Name Rating: 5/10. Basic, but rolls off the tongue. Started the trend of Sun Wukong having extremely basic ship names- more on that below.
Canon Rating: 0/10. Whatever they had in the past, Macaque simply treats Wukong far too awfully to really justify the two of them ever getting together. Even the attempts at reconciliation feel more like extremely forced ship baiting, given how it goes from one of the two being marginally kinder to the other than usual, then immediately dropping it for more sniping. (Past!Shadowpeach receives 5/10.)
Fanon Rating: -10/10. I’ve spoken at length about this, but fans love to distort Wukong into a drooling abuser so stupid he can’t breath through his nose, usually while turning Macaque into a Possession Sue who only serves to be the author’s simpering self-insert who is the most perfect little baby of all time who has never ever done anything wrong at all even once. If there is an attempt to be “nuanced” or “unbiased” it manifest as “Sun Wukong “killed” (re: defended himself against) Macaque so he’s worse.” It’s an awful, extremely pervasive dynamic that rots any fandom enjoyment I could have had for this couple.
Personal Enjoyment: 6/10. Getting to write Macaque as the legitimately awful person that he is takes off the edge of seeing constant “uwu sadboi” Macaque content. Still, I rarely touch anyone else’s Shadowpeach content because of this.
Tumblr media
Peachlotus
Name Rating: 2/10. As you’ll see, most ship names involving Sun Wukong are, uh… extremely lazy. Just one of the other character’s traits with “peach” slapped before/after it. Fandom really dropped the ball with most of these. This one is especially clunky, at least on my tongue.
(See, Macaque gets stuff like Lunartides, Inkypages, Shadowpeach, etc- all very cool.. We need to diversify the nouns is what I’m saying. Coulda been something like “GingerRoot” cause orange fur + plant boy. “FlowerBuds” for the platonic name for peaches + lotuses. Do you guys see what I’m saying. It can’t just be raw peaches all the way down.)
Canon Rating: 2/10. Ne Zha also doesn’t treat Wukong too kindly, interacting with him mostly through insults and physical attacks. He does seem to have some understanding of the king, though, which gives him a slight boost over Macaque.
Fanon Rating: 1/10. It barely exists, and what little does exist is essentially just “Ne Zha is mad at Wukong over what the fuck ever, so they’re fighting” and little more. There’s a lot of potential for bonding over immortality and awful pasts or being commandeered by domineering authority figures, which I wish was used more often.
Personal Enjoyment: 2/10. I don’t see the dynamic, personally. Again, Ne Zha’s only interactions with him are only ever vitriolic or exasperated in nature, which doesn’t leave stable footing for a relationship to stand. Maybe I’ll make a chatbot for them one day and see if I come around to it.
Tumblr media
“Freepeaches”
Name Rating: -5/10. This shit is exactly what I’m talking about with the lazily slapping “peach” onto whatever and going on. “Free” has no meaning between Wukong and Tang- it’s just a holdover from a more popular ship. Tang only mooches food from Pigsy. That’s one of the biggest elements of their dynamic. Sure, Tang likes free stuff (food, rides, physical labor), but when does he ever get that from Wukong? It just makes no sense.
AND IF IT HAD TO HAVE THE FRUIT, TANGYPEACHES WAS RIGHT THERE
Canon Rating: 6/10. Tang literally drew himself and the Monkey King together inside a heart. He adores Wukong, thought maybe not for who he truly is- and the two don’t any interaction in terms of Tang realizing his autistic parasocial special interest idol is a lonely old sage who misses his friends, which cripples what was a pretty cute dynamic. I think Tang coming down from his hero worship and being just a genuine friend to SWK would be cute, definitely.
Fanon Rating: 9/10. Pretty enjoyable! Freepeaches is one of the few dynamics where Sun Wukong isn’t constantly turned into a punching bag/villain to be beaten around for the amusement of the audience, and the two are often portrayed as legitimately healthy together- I especially enjoy how Tang is portrayed as needing to move past his hero worship for the two to have a healthy relationship. It’s cute.
Personal Enjoyment: 6/10. Never addressing the resemblance to Sanzang or having them interact in regards to this while the circlet is back on Wukong’s head feels like a massively missed opportunity, honestly. I think Sun Wukong’s personal feelings have been left to the wayside for far too long in canon, and getting to a point where almost every fucking character represses their feelings is lazy and boring.
Tumblr media
Peachbuns
Name Rating: 4/10. Again. Just “peach” slapped onto an adjective or noun. It’s frustratingly boring. This one sounds delicious and both components are related to food at least, which fits Pigsy’s background… but it also sounds like something a horny dude would ask for pics of in your DMs.
Canon Rating: 1/10. Pigsy isn’t willing to take any of Wukong’s shit, so he serves as a pretty great “bullshit barrier” that provides a legitimately strict opposing force to Wukong, but there’s little else to even their relationship out. He’s never kind or supportive or worried- if the two interact, it’s always through the lens of “Pigsy is mad/suspicious”. There’s never any real bonding or growth between them at all.
Fanon Rating: 4/10. This ship barely exists, and when it does it’s Sun Wukong being lectured through life by a big strong man- not a dynamic I’m a fan of. However, it is surprisingly kind to Wukong in terms of empathizing with his struggles. Again, I wish there was less of “Pigsy teaches Wukong basic life skills” because it falls right back into the revolting fanon that is “SWK is a big dumb fuck who can’t read or cook or take care of himself without a husband to wipe his ass.”
Personal Enjoyment: 2/10. I just don’t click with it. Pigsy doesn’t like Wukong, doesn’t trust him, and doesn’t interact with him outside of that.
Tumblr media
Moonstone
Name Rating: 10/10. This is what I like! Moonstone is not only a very real (and very beautiful) mineral, but it ties to both of them equally! You don’t see Wukong’s status as a stone-born demon be referenced often, so this is a refreshing change of pace from the constant “peach” names.
Canon Rating: 7/10. Chang’e is a lovely woman who is simultaneously not be willing put up with Sun Wukong’s bullshit while still legitimately respecting and admiring him. It makes for a nice duality in their relationship that most of his dynamics don’t provide.
Fanon Rating: 10/10. The working dynamic is so fucking good to start with that I’ve never once seen fanon drop the ball. Never. This ship is always so fucking sweet and honest with Chang’e calling out Wukong for his bullshit while never pushing it to the “Shit on Sun Wukong Show” levels that the fandom loves so much- she takes no shit, but does no harm. She’s supportive and acknowledges his traumas and fears. Wukong does his best for her. Moonstone shippers get an A+ and extra recess time.
Personal Enjoyment: 7/10. I just… I really like this one, dammit. There’s not a lot to go off of, but seeing fanworks that do not primarily treat SWK like living trash/baby the hell out of him is nice.
Tumblr media
Lionpeach
Name Rating: 3/10. Again. Very boring and generic. I’ve seen Fuzzypeach which is a little cuter, at least. Still, it’s all the same “peach”+noun format.
Canon Rating: 3/10. The devotion Azure bears to Sun Wukong seems like it would bear a higher marking, but it’s shallow and flimsy. Azure never understood Wukong, never wanted what was best for him, never cared about his safety or happiness. Azure projects his beliefs and wants onto the people around him, blinding the big fella to shortcomings on their parts, and is delusional enough to never look inwards. Still, I can legitimately see
Fanon Rating: 0/10. It’s just smut. That’s it. When it isn’t it’s just “Ooooh! Azure is jealous of Macaque! Tee-hee, sorry Azure!” and that’s it. I’ve never actually seen any non-sexual, Azure-focused Lionpeach.
Personal Enjoyment: 5/10. It’s a fun enough dynamic to explore, especially with how unhealthy it is. I’ll probably make a bot of this too one day. Maybe a “yandere dads” type. Or a mutual Primal Moon bot.
Tumblr media
Celestialchaos
Name Rating: 10/10. Another not peach-based name is a win in my book!
Canon Rating: 6/10. Xiangliu is civil enough to Wukong (about as much as everyone else), but the mention of them having once been friends is what got my attention. Shrouded past + + potential reincarnation shenanigans + decently civil behavior = a very happy writer. It’s so little but it makes my brain itch.
Fanon Rating: 0/10. It doesn’t even exist babes ;( I’m scrounging for water in the lonely plains of a desert y’all. I’m a lonely little cactus and Celestialchaos is my annual three-inch rain.
Personal Enjoyment: 10/10. C’mon now. You all were expecting this. I love this ship. I’ve already made four chatbots. I love Xiangliu as a wild little freak who desperately tries to push Wukong away from other people and sad lonely Wukong finding refuge in a freaky toxic snake. Especially I like the idea of Xiangliu pitting himself against Macaque and going after Sun Wukong just to cause a little trouble, only to actually catch feelings and start pursuing him in earnest. I like “I want you at your worst so I can prove that I still love you even then” Xiangliu and “You love me at all?” Wukong.
I really like this ship.
End Result

Knock 'Em Dead - Epilogue
Rating: T
Word Count: 3,800
Characters: Wukong, Macaque
Relationships: Wukong & Macaque (Could be interpreted as Shadowpeach)
Summary: Wukong and Macaque have a heart to heart. It goes about as well as you might expect.
CW: Alcohol, swearing, references to MCD and violence
Link to AO3 Version
Chapter Navigation: First | Prev
----
The cellar door was open and, combined with that gift of a glass of wine, it felt like an invitation. An invitation to what he didn't actually know but there was no turning back now. Macaque would have heard the moment he started heading in this direction - walking away would have him branded as a coward or worse.
He walked in to find Macaque lounging in a setup that definitely wasn't usually here - two comfortable looking chairs with a small table between them hosting a bottle of peach wine and an empty wine glass.
Macaque acknowledged him with a raise of the glass in his hand and a nod towards the empty chair.
He cautiously made his way over and picked up the open wine bottle before frowning slightly at it, "How much have you had?"
Macaque shrugged, "Like half a bottle."
Wukong poured the last of the wine and raised an eyebrow at him when it only filled half the glass.
Macaque just rolled his eyes and pulled a new bottle from the small collection on the floor. Shadows easily removed the cork before he handed the bottle over to him, "Thought I'd wait and see if I was getting a drinking buddy before going all out."
Drinking themselves to oblivion did sound far better than a sober, dire attempt to talk about what had just happened so he topped up his glass, drained it and then refilled it before putting the bottle down.
It was Macaque's turn to raise an eyebrow but he thankfully said nothing as Wukong took his seat, wine in hand, trying to determine how brave he felt.
He sighed heavily before asking, "Why'd you tell MK?"
Macaque shrugged, "He asked."
He scowled, "Cut the shit, Macaque. You don't do anything unless it benefits you so why'd you do it? What are you getting out of this?"
Macaque's eyes flashed dangerously for a moment but he clearly made a conscious decision to bite back whatever vitriol he wanted to spit and instead laughed cruelly, "You know, Wukong, I've read that little book of yours, the story of how you came to be China's darling and, I get it, a life as long as yours isn't easy to summarise - you've got to focus on what's important, right? But could you imagine my surprise when I realised that I didn't fall into that category? That I wasn't important enough to be so much as mentioned in the story of your life?"
Adamantly, he denied, "That's not why you're not in the book! I- You-"
As he struggled to get the words past his teeth, Macaque sneered, "Then what was it, Wukong? Did I just not fit in with your heroic narrative? Would my inclusion have made you look bad? Was that enough reason to let me be forgotten?"
"No! It wasn't like that! I didn't-!" He cut himself off with a frustrated sound before taking a steadying breath and trying again, "Look, I didn't write the book, ok? It was mostly based on Shā WÚjÏng and my master's journals and on hearsay. You didn't get a mention because-"
He grit his teeth as he forced himself to admit, "When I got out from the mountain I was too angry to talk about you to anyone and then- and then after I couldn't bring myself to talk about you because I... I just couldn't, alright? The others had their own reasons for not wanting the world to know about what happened on the Journey. That's why you're not mentioned. Not because you weren't important. Macaque, you have to know how much I regret what happened that day, how much I've always regretted it."
He would never be able to put into words the neverending grief that he'd experienced after Macaque's death and unfortunately he hadn't drank nearly enough to even try, his wariness of the Macaque that existed in the present enough to stop him totally bearing his heart and soul.
Macaque's response was underwhelming. He just sighed, sat back in his chair and had another sip from his glass before commenting, "Yeah, I heard the sob story you fed MK. I suppose I should be honoured my death was a monumental enough occasion for the horse to be moved to take action - you know it must have been bad if Áo Liè actually felt compelled to do something."
Disbelief and anger made themselves known in his tone, "That's all you have to say? I'm trying to have a genuine conversation with you about what happened and your response is to insult my friend?"
Macaque continued to act unaffected, "Oh, I could say more, trust me. But what's the point? I already know how this "genuine conversation" is going to go."
That gave him a moment of pause, "... You Listened?"
Macaque had always been pretty reserved about using his Listening as it left him vulnerable for the duration he used it and his Future Hearing, in particular, wasn't one hundred percent foolproof. But that didn't mean he couldn't or wouldn't use it if he thought the payout was worth the risk.
Macaque scoffed, "As if I had time between talking to MK and listening to him interrogate you."
He still wasn't ruling out that Macaque had manipulated the situation somehow - he could have Listened well before talking to MK and orchestrated this whole thing - but he decided to take him at face value for the moment and see where that took this conversation.
Knowing Macaque though, probably nowhere good.
He crossed his arms, "Yeah, thanks for that. Nice of you to give yourself the upper hand - don't suppose you'd care to tell me exactly what you told MK?"
Macaque's grin was petty, "Sorry, only one show per day and you missed it. Such a shame. Though I'm not sure you would have been a fan."
No, he definitely wouldn't have been but if they were finally addressing what had happened then he wanted them to be on a level playing field.
With a frustrated sigh, he sat back, "I don't want to play these pointless games, Macaque. If we're talking about this, then let's talk about it."
Macaque regarded him for a long moment before quietly chuckling to himself and when he addressed him there was a slightly manic look in his eyes, "Alright then, Wukong, let's cut right to the chase, shall we? You regret what you did? Good. You should. But I don't regret what I did."
His voice came out as a hoarse whisper, "What?"
Macaque made a show of reconsidering, "No, wait, actually I do have a couple of regrets. Getting caught? Very disappointing oversight on my part. And the monk? What I wouldn't give to go back and make sure he suffered like he had truly deserved."
The wine glass in his hand never stood a chance but the shards of glass barely even registered as he slammed his hand down on the arm of the chair and gripped it as if it could hold him back from lunging forward, "For as long as he lived, he never fully recovered from what you did to him! He didn't deserve the torture you put him through!"
He didn't know exactly what Macaque had done to him, but he knew what he was capable of and just the thought of it was enough to have his nails digging into the arms of the chair, the whole thing threatening to crumble under his anguish and fury.
Macaque wasn't intimidated by his show of anger and drawled, "Well, that's a matter of perspective, isn't it? Would you like to hear what kind of person your master was from my perspective?"
He didn't but unfortunately he was going to have to if they wanted to make any progress and Macaque took his hostile silence for the go ahead it reluctantly was.
Macaque took a long drink before telling him with conviction, "Your master was a cold and indifferent man, that switched between viewing you as a burden and a tool at his disposal. He cared nothing about who or what you were and yet he expected you to obey him without question. He was a man undeserving of your love and devotion. And if that changed, it only changed because of my intervention."
He resisted the urge to lash out in response to his self-importance as well as his shallow understanding of the situation and his master's character. However wrong or hurtful Macaque's words though he knew he had to hear them through to the end, so through gritted teeth he bit out, "Explain."
Gesturing to his ears, Macaque responded, "Obviously, I couldn't Listen to every second of the years you spent with him before I found you that day, there could well have been fleeting moments of civility that you let yourself believe was something more that I missed but I Heard his disregard for you and I Heard how he punished you."
There was no denying that the earlier years with his master had been difficult and painful. Supposed opposites forced together, they struggled to understand one another and that led to more conflicts than he would care to admit but he didn't blame his master for not always listening to him or for being heavy-handed in his retaliation.
His master had been young and mortal and thrust into a perilous journey with a dangerous, morally grey and bad-tempered demon that could kill him in an instant. Could you blame him for being a little on edge or for being unsure of how best to handle every situation?
And while he had initially been the unwilling muscle for this operation, his master had always treated him as his student. And even if he'd had no idea how to be a teacher to someone like him, he, ultimately, had never given up on him.
Even in those early years, when quite frankly, Wukong had neither wanted to or believed there was any need to change his ways.
But he knew that sort of nuance meant nothing to Macaque, just as it meant nothing to himself at the time and how it would have meant nothing to him if he and Macaque's positions had been reversed.
He could hear the undercurrent of fury in Macaque's voice as he continued, "But even if I hadn't Heard all I had, the way you pathetically latched onto any hint that he actually cared about you when I was the one wearing his face would have been enough to seal his fate."
He wasn't ready to face that ugly truth just yet and so he took hold of the embers fanned by that statement and glowered, "You mean when you lied to me? When you manipulated me?"
Macaque laughed incredulously, "Oh, of course, how fucking vile of me to listen to you, to treat you as if you're feelings mattered! Not once did I ever even tell you that you were in the wrong! Or that you had to forgive me!"
Despite the truth of it, he still growled, "That doesn't make it right! And it doesn't change the fact that your ultimate plan was to get me out of the picture long enough for you to torture an innocent man for information he didn't have!"
Macaque's eyes were filled with venom, "And whose fault was that, Wukong? Did you really fucking expect me to just go home, to sit patiently and wait for you? After everything I'd Heard? After all the time you'd already been gone? What choice did you give me but to take matters into my own hands?"
He knew now that it had been stupid to believe that Macaque would ever have listened to him back then. And even half-crazed from his time under the mountain, he should have known that.
And moreso, if he put himself in the mindset of pre-Journey Wukong and thought about Macaque's actions then they were entirely justifiable. Maybe a touch crueler and calculated than he personally would have gone with but hey, everyone had their own style.
That sort of violence was normal, especially against an outsider who had wronged you and your own. It wasn't considered bad and it wasn't considered wrong.
He obviously knew better now but it had been a lesson hard earned, and one that required a fourteen year journey, with a dedicated teacher at that. But both then and, arguably, now Macaque hadn't been given that same chance to grow or learn the error of his ways. Could he truly blame him for what he'd done?
And as twisted and terrible as what Macaque had done was, Wukong couldn't ignore the fact that he'd done it out of love and loyalty.
And when he'd responded in kind, with the single minded desire to avenge his master, he'd declared to the world that those feelings weren't returned.
That they belonged to another.
And the worst thing was, that he had meant it.
All the fight left him, and shakily he responded, "You're right... You responded how any demon would have. How I would've. How I did."
He desperately wanted to tell him that he hadn't meant for things to end the way they had, to go as far as he did, but the truth was Macaque had been dead the moment Wukong had seen what he'd done to his master.
Regret didn't feel a strong enough word for how he'd felt afterwards but Macaque's death had been no accident.
He took a breath before offering, "Look, there's not a single thing I don't regret about what happened. Our reunion after the mountain, how I- how I responded to what you'd done. I understand why you did what you did, that doesn't make it right but... I can understand why you don't regret it and I... I don't blame you for that."
Macaque sneered at his sincerity, "Oh, you understand, do you? You understand what it is to dedicate your life to someone and be told it's not enough? You understand how it feels to have the person you love most only return those feelings when you're wearing the face of the human who abused him?"
Macaque was on his feet, the glass that had been in his hand now shattered on the ground. His eyes glowed violet as he lunged forward and dug his nails into the arms of Wukong's chair, "You know what it's like to spend centuries suffering in the DĂŹyĂš? You know what it's like to crawl out of your grave with a gaping hole in your skull? Do you!?"
His stomach turned at the gruesome imagery.
Beyond the fact that the Lady Bone Demon had been involved he knew nothing about how Macaque had been resurrected. He should have known that twisted witch would have made it as agonising a process as possible.
He fought to keep control of his expression however, even without the alcohol, there was no telling what would make the situation worse and Macaque's teeth were already dangerously close to his face.
He was sure the undercurrent of turbulent emotion could be heard as he quietly responded though, "No. Of course, I don't."
Macaque's eyes flicked over his face, his breath coming out in unsteady bursts before he let out a gutteral growl and raised a fist that went right through the back of the chair, deliberately missing Wukong's face.
Wukong could only watch as he turned away, his tail thrashing furiously behind him.
He knew that the true depths of Macaque's suffering would always be beyond his comprehension. In the same way that no words could ever communicate the maddening agony of his isolation under the mountain, he knew that no matter how willing he was to listen, he would never truly understand all that Macaque had been through.
Despite that, there was an overwhelming urge to do the impossible and somehow make amends, to somehow make all of this right.
Macaque stood with his back to him and with a wavering voice said, "You didn't even bring me home."
Sick with shame, he still tried to explain, "I was going to! Your magic- I couldn't move you until it- I promise you, I was going to bring you home. But the- the Lady Bone Demon got to you first and I-"
"When?"
"What?"
Through gritted teeth he heard Macaque clarify, "When were you planning to bring me home? When was the last time you even went to visit my grave?"
He swallowed thickly, his tongue felt like lead and the ensuing silence said it all.
Macaque's laugh was a bitter, tortured thing, "I really didn't mean anything to you, did I?"
Wukong hunched over himself, his forehead leaning against clasped hands, "Macaque, I didn't..."
Macaque turned around sharply, "Didn't what, Wukong? Didn't think you'd ever have to see me again? Didn't think you'd have to face up to what you'd done?"
Of course, he hadn't thought he'd ever see Macaque again. Of course, he'd never thought he'd ever be in this situation.
While his guilt had seen him haunted by visions of Macaque, he'd never believed he would actually rise from the dead. Wished for it, on occasion, maybe but had never conceived an enemy of his could, or would, go to such lengths to torture him.
And yet, still he responded emphatically, "No! I- I mean I didn't mean to leave you there! Or to go so long between visits. It just... hurt to be there. To remember what happened."
Macaque's grin was unhinged, "And that's excellent why I'm here now, Wukong! To make sure you never forget, to make sure you never know peace for what you did!"
A part of him believed that it was no less than he deserved.
But he hadn't forgotten his master's teachings, or his responsibility to MK, and he knew that drowning in self-loathing and guilt would benefit no-one.
And even if he did accept such a punishment - what kind of life was that for Macaque? Consumed by hatred and pain and obsession? He deserved better than that. At the very least, he deserved the same opportunity he'd had to change and grow.
He was no more irredeemable than Wukong had been, of that he was sure.
In fact, he'd already seen the signs that he was capable of better.
He couldn't fully rule out that Macaque was playing some sort of long game but he'd gone above and beyond during the calamity involving Azure and they'd been cohabiting the island with relative civility for months since. They'd even successfully collaborated on MK's training recently.
He wanted that to mean something.
He didn't dare hope for a relationship of any kind to be rekindled from the ashes but they could have some semblance of peace if they both wanted it, if they both dedicated themselves to achieving it.
But peace was clearly the last thing on Macaque's mind right now. The alcohol no doubt adding fuel to the agonising fire that always burned within him.
Now wasn't the right time to tell Macaque that he wanted to help him work through this. There might never be a right time to tell him that to be honest - he could already envision the offence taken at suggesting he could "fix" him.
So, taking a steadying breath, he responded, "I can't ever expect to be forgiven for how I wronged you but I won't run from the consequences. I deserve to know the full extent of the suffering I caused you and you're right, I deserve to never forget it."
In hindsight, there was no way this evening ended well, no matter what he'd said just now, but still he was caught off guard by Macaque's furious scream as he brought a shelf full of bottles crashing to the floor.
He sat frozen as Macaque viciously spat, "You're so fucking pathetic! The old you, the real you, wouldn't just roll over and let someone else tell him what he deserved! He would have killed anyone that fucking dared! He never would have just sat there and accepted his fate!"
It wasn't the first time Macaque had brought up the "real" him and he was sure it wouldn't be the last.
He resolved himself as he stood up, and Macaque's suddenly wary expression at the action spoke volumes. Firmly, he retaliated, "Is that really what you want? The "old" me? The one that never listened to you? The one that responded to everything he didn't like with violence?"
Macaque took a step back as he took a step forward, "You want me to be the me that didn't hesitate to kill the only person that had loved him unconditionally? Because we both know how that will end."
He held Macaque's gaze unflinchingly until the terror he was met with became too much for him.
His expression softened, "But I'm not that person anymore, Macaque. I'll never be him again. I'm going to listen to you. I'm going to treat you with the regard you deserve. And the only reason I would ever cross that line again was because I was given no other choice."
He wished he could promise that he would never be the one to cut his second life short but if it was a choice between him and MK...
Then he would do what he had to.
Macaque seemed to find his reassurance just as terrifying as his reminder of what he'd once been capable of and Wukong wasn't at all surprised that he sank through a shadow portal seconds later and fled.
He stood for a moment and stared at the spot Macaque had been before sighing and rubbing at the back of his neck.
Well, that could have gone worse...?
They hadn't devolved into violence, at least.
He looked around at the mess on the floor and the damage to the chair he'd been sitting on.
Well, mostly anyway.
Normally, he would have a clone tidy it all up but the weight of everything that had happened had him rolling up his sleeves with little complaint.
He didn't doubt that this had been only the first in a long line of difficult and messy conversations that would be needed to try and move past everything that had happened. And he knew he was going to need every scrap of wisdom, patience and tact he possessed if he wanted to help Macaque find a semblance of peace.
But right now, he willed himself to focus only on cleaning up the mess right in front of him, to allow his heart and soul a moment of respite before they were overwhelmed with the grief and guilt of everything he had learnt.

ETERNAL LMK AU (Part 3) (Interactive Story)
A little violence never hurts right? Well, violence was picked, and violence we shall have!
The rules are simple.: I will give the written passage, and then at the bottom there will be a vote on how the characters act next!
Story: Eternal
Ships: Shadowpeach
Angst: You betcha
Fluff: With enough choices, maybe we'll get there.
----------
The weight of Wukong's cold indifference felt crushing, driving him to the brink of madness. In a blind rage, he unleashes a primal scream and charged forward like a raging bull, his fists clenched tight enough to draw blood- if there was any to draw from.
He would have focused on this if he wasn’t so blinded with fury. Nothing would stop him from breaking through Wukong's impenetrable wall of apathy. The urge to draw pain from the other, to make Wukong see him, was too powerful to contain. Macaque felt the air whistle past him as he lunged, wrath propelling him like a storm flinging debris. “You think you can just ignore me?!”
The King remained still, a statue carved from granite, seemingly unfazed by the tempest boiling behind Macaque's eyes. “WUKONG!” Instead of connecting to soft flesh and silky fur as he expected to, Macaque was falling forward.
Straight through his mate, like he was nothing more than illusion.
Macaque’s screech cut into a gasp, arching out as he landed roughly.
The ground beneath Macaque's fist sent sharp pain shooting up his arm, the first real sensation he felt he had since awakening.
He recoiled, confusion washing over him like the waterfall he had just fled. In that moment of contact with solid earth, he felt a resonance, a pulse that spread through his veins. It was as if he was struck by thunder, held perfectly still in fear it would end him there and then. All with his eyes locked upward to the Monkey that was now behind him, eyes closed and at ease.
His entire body had phased through Wukong like it wasn’t even there.
Panic surged in Macaque’s chest, his breath coming in sharp, frantic wheezes. He pulled his fist back and scrambled to his feet, feeling the tremor of the earth beneath him still resonating with the energy he had barely comprehended. Wukong remained unyielding, unbothered by Macaque's conflicting turmoil as though he floated on a different plane than the one Macaque was trapped in.
Macaque blinked hard, trying to focus through the blurriness that had returned to his vision, the world around him shifting slightly like a mirage. The mountain peak seemed to shift, oscillate between reality and a fake copy.
Then it settled and he was left beside Wukong, watching him meditate.
“Poor fella. You hate to see it happen.”
The voice floated around him, smooth and teasing like silk stretching over steel. Macaque’s heart lurched as he spun to find a third figure materializing from the shadows— an unfamiliar silhouette with wicked eyes glimmering with humor.
A second figure joined the first, “Unaware. So confused.” dressed in billowing black, the robes held a hood that shrouded their faces, small grins gleaming underneath.
Macaque tensed and turned, angling himself to the sound of the voices. Wukong, the ever unmoving rock within is quiet contemplation, didn’t stir to the sound. Only Macaque seemed aware of the presence of two strangers, eyeing them as they emerged from the trees.
“Who are you?” Macaque lifted his hand to summon his staff. When it didn’t form between his fingers, he paled, staring at his own feet. Where once there was a shadow, always present and attached, there was nothing.
He was nothing.
It was like he didn’t even exist.
The sheer alarm he felt coiled in his chest, making him stumble back in hopes of seeing his shadow- that it was just a trick of the light. There was nothing- no darkness or semblance of anything below his feet.
The voices seemed to chuckle at his display, “It’s always pitiful to see someone come to terms with it.”
Macaque shot his head up, “What?” He hissed.
“Such a shame,” one of the figures said, stepping forward with an exaggerated sway, “to find yourself so utterly lost. No shadow to guide you home, no tether to pull you back.” Their voice dripped with mock sympathy that curled around Macaque’s fraying sanity.
“Who… What do you want?” Macaque’s voice trembled, a feeble attempt to mask the quaking in his chest.
The second figure slinked closer, their mere presence cold enough to snuff out the warmth around them. “Took quite some time to get you to surface, Liu’er Mihou.” they tsked, shaking their heads.
“You know my name?” he croaked. The figures loomed closer, shrouded in their gauzy cloaks, flickering like shadows caught in a flame. "
"Of course, we know your name," the first figure purred, their voice curling around Macaque like a vine ready to strangle. "In the undercurrents of despair, whispers travel further than the wind. They are... persistent, much like you."
Macaque couldn’t shake the sensation of being scrutinized, dissected for their amusement. “Why have you come here?” The words came out more defiantly than he felt within. His eyes flickered to Wukong. Was he so against even speaking to him that he was willing to ignore even this? It made his chest ache…
The second figure chuckled softly, "Why? To guide you, of course." They extended a pale hand towards Macaque, fingers twisting and curling as if weaving a grand tapestry only they could see.
“Guide me?” Macaque spat, “I need no guidance from you two.”
They glance at each other, then giggle. “All souls need a hand or two when venturing to the Diyu.”
Macaque recoiled at the mention of Diyu—the realm of the dead. He felt the ground shift beneath him again as if the very earth was pulling away from him. “The Diyu?” he whispered in disbelief. "The only people who go there are those who are-” he cut off, a cold dread bubbling in his stomach. No…
The figures smiled, tilting their heads, “Dead?”
Bone chilling cold was a sensation he wasn’t pleased to feel. “I’m not-!” It was then that he remembered. Or perhaps, he had always remembered, he had just denied it. The crunch of his skull, the wail of Wukong- the cold.
The unbearable cold.
His hand lifted to his chest, clutching the fabric there to feel his unbeating heart. Unseen, unheard, no longer a presence for a shadow to latch to in this world.
"I died," he whispered.
They nodded, eerily in unison as they stared at him. “Quite some time ago, actually.”
Macaque swallowed hard, “H-How- How long?”
”By this time, years. Perhaps 10..? 20?” They stare around, ears flickering curiously. , "We would have collected your soul a while ago but you sure were stuck.”
“S-stuck?”
”You soul had latched so tightly, we had to wait until you drew yourself from it." They held out their fingers to point
Macaque glanced at where their boney fingers pointed; Wukong's staff that rested to the side of him.
His visibly recoiled. His soul had latched to that horrendous thing of all things?
”Sometimes souls can get stuck. Perhaps to the weapon that killed them, or a mythical object within their vicinity when they pass. We’ve seen a lot of different reasons.”
With buzzing thoughts and an aching chest, Macaque slowly sunk into a crouch, clutching his head. He edged a tad bit away from Wukong- from his staff.
He had killed him.
His mate had killed him.
"And now that you’re free," the first figure drawled, "we can finally help you transcend this state. No more binding threads, Macaque. No more ties to this realm." The gleam in their hollow eyes sparked with a hunger that made his skin crawl. “It’s time to come with us,” they held their hands out again.

I don't really believe this, cause to me shadowpeach are soulmates no matter what; but I like the idea of macaque's true love being past wukong, and wukong's true love being present macaque (not the hatred of wukong, but the added confidence, extra snarkiness, showmanship, and the lack of idealizing wukong and trying to hide in the background). But present macaque can't exist without past wukong killing past mac and thus killing "himself". So they are always doomed cause past wukong can't love past macaque, and present macaque can't love present wukong.
yes yes the tragedy of right person wrong time 😭

angsty Shadowpeach thought:
I believe that their last meeting during the Journey to the West pilgrimage ended similarly to what happens with The Woman and The Elk
Macaque, transforming back into himself from being Wukong's copy, tainted by jealousy and revenge, but also undying devotion.
Wukong being so Done with the mistakes of their pasts that he feels that the only way to move forward is for one of them to not longer exist.
The same level of love, of guilt, of imposter syndrome, of shifting blame.
youtube
Even if Wukong landed the fatal blow unknowingly, or was compelled to do so, it would still end the same.
The Sun mourning the Moon for centuries to come.
And the Moon rising once more.
Bonus: "Once Shattered, Now Whole" is an Azure Lion song, watching Shadowpeach from the sidelines as he lusts for more than power

I would like to hear about the aus and fanfics I’m going on, yes…
Okay here we go. I’m going to be talking about multiple aus so I might make different posts? We’ll see as we go.
Small note: usually if I have Mk as a shadowpeach kid they would refer to him as Xiaotian when he is raised by or in their care. Mk is there a nickname or name given by Pigsy or the rest of the crew after finding out he doesn’t remember his name or doesn’t like the original one.
First one
River lullaby
I’m actually really close to finishing the first chapter and I’m excited for it.
(Macaque didn’t die) Basically a while after the journey Wukong is trapped off ffm he can’t physically leave past the shores due to the celestial realm and jade emperor putting up a barrier. Wukong and Macaque who before any of this happened had a cub in the safety of their mountain were unaware.
Macaque had left to go find something to free his husband, in his absence some celestial warriors became very active outside of the barrier. Wukong had all but holed up into the mountains with Xiaotian and a few of his immortal monkeys who knew of the cub’s existence.
Wukong only makes an appearance if the warriors were getting too far inland after getting too comfortable with Wukong not appearing.
He sends Xiaotian outside the barrier and hopefully to safety after finding out about their plans for ffm.
With Wukong not actually being findable/reachable for a while, someone else has to take up the mantle as mentor. Nezha.
He would be one of the very few people who knows of Mk’s origins and have enough experience with Wukong. Wukong definitely thought he was winning awesome big brother points by showing off.
Meanwhile Macaque is running around helping the Mayor when the materials Lbd said she needs to boost her powers to take down the barrier. Macaque is confused about Mk and is wondering if one of the other two celestial monkeys had cubs and why Nezha is following them around.
Nezha is not big on his nephew getting hurt but is trying his best on both letting Mk find his way of doing things and not knowing the full scope of his powers. Mk is picking up on this and sometimes Nezha slips up when he meets the rest of the group they realize he knows more about Mk’s past and powers then he lets on.

Oh wow I love the idea of this request 🤩, also the reader reminds me of an oc that I’m trying to make but she’s the daughter of zuko x sokka, anyway shall we get on with it?
This might have more than 7 paragraphs like the last one but I don’t know, i’ll see if I can do more than 7 paragraphs for this one as well.
Warnings: noob author, female reader, yandere characters, and others.
Characters: sun wukong, macaque.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shadowpeach:
You were the youngest out of the first borns of the fire nation royalty, making you zuko’s younger twin sister, which also meant that zuko would be overprotective of you and try to defend you from azula bullying that she is fond of doing to him and make sure you don’t get caught in her abusive ways, though he doesn’t know until later that she wants to protect you as much as he does as well and surprisingly your father, the fire lord also would like to protect you as well but zuko still tries to distance you from those two and more to your mother and uncle.
It was a shock to your family that you can waterbend as well as firebend but they decided to keep it a secret as it could cause a scandal to uproar in the court and the relations with you and zuko actually being apart of the family.
You found a little trinket in the pirate boat when you, your brother, and uncle was trying to find the current avatar to help restore zuko’s honor that he had lost when he was younger the trinket was kept with you and not officially put on until after you and zuko’s joined the gang group.
But when you put on that trinket it had brought you to a world you didn’t know existed before until now. You soon met a unusual group that is heading west to a being called buddha you decided to tag along as this Buddha could help you get home to your rightful world.
You ignore all of pigsy attempts at flirting with you, talk and spend some relaxing time with sandy and talk about the different things about each others culture with Tripitaka, though you spend most of your time with sun as he somehow found his way in your heart and soon became your crush.
You would heal sun with your waterbending and scold Tripitaka about his treatment towards sun and give facts about how he shouldn’t have done those things now or what happened in the past with the knowledge Anna had told you about monks, that made sun soon realize he as well has fallen in love with you too.
You met macaque when you and sun was searching for some vegetarian food for Tripitaka as you sadly won’t be apart of this group forever and cause you have a family to get to so you can’t stay even if you wanted to, macaque had startled you when handing you another fruit you would of overlooked if it wasn’t for him. When you notice how there seem to be a bad tension between the two you decided to fix it.
And fixed it you did as you had them talk about what they needed to talk about while also trying to make sure they don’t go ballistic on each other and try to kill each other over something that could be dealt with peacefully.
The two ended up persuading you into a relationship and how when the time comes for it then they will try to find a way for you three to be together.
You later learned how they actually act, with how they kill people you talk to and from their words ‘are a threat to your relationship’ which wasn’t true as there is something that was made because you loved them, it was also them that was the threat to this relationship for killing innocence people just because they talked with you one time.
You had somehow got the trinket to work and bring you back to your world, leaving behind two angry monkeys left behind after they realized you found a way back to your world, though what they didn’t know is that they would’ve been fathers if they haven’t messed up.
A few years went by, about 2, and you and your friend and first crush, avatar aang decide to get together with your first child from the previous relationship became aang’s child after marrying each other then came the cub that is named mk little sibling and the biological child of aang and what you didn’t know is that you’ll be seeing some people that you didn’t want to see.
Sun and macaque found a way to their missing lover’s world and now is on the search in that world.
You didn’t know what had happened as the next thing you knew is that your back to the world you previous went to but this time it’s more futuristic than it was before. Apparently it has been many years since they last seen you and not the same length of time like your world went to from that event.
Thankfully you have your two children with you but you hope you can get them away from the two.
Though you and the children both had eaten the peaches of immortality so you have a plenty time to play hide and seek from them.
Though that will be hard with two supernatural monkeys that would do anything for you and your children.
Reading your last answers to some asks, soo... shxdowpeach is already canon then? ☠️ like, that would be gross because the director and some people who work in the show know that some chinese people culturally see them as siblings, like not everyone but still they are two parts of the same being, it would be like saying they are making Wukong falling in love with his own devil self- like I know it's a jttw adaptation, but knowing the original context and how some chinese people sees them is just- i dunno, man.
Monkie Kid spoilers & complaining below so proceed if you want to watch me whine
I mean it's definitely not, but given the hyperfocus on that ship in fandom & the way quite a few people at Flying Bark are openly liking it & have now repeatedly brought literally every other potential path in the plot to a screeching halt to focus on those monkeys' bullshit drama d'jour it's a frustrating situation indeed anon! And yeah! WTF! To this day I'm very baffled by the lengths to which so many people seem hellbent on ignoring and rewriting like EVERYTHING about Sun Wukong and the Six-Eared Macaque from the og classic to force them into a close relationship! I mean it's aggravating and boring enough that even Flying Bark basically threw away so much of what made LEMH & SWK interesting to turn them into yet another sonic/shadow clone--and with the added absolutely delightful bonus of frequent "swk is mean and awful and sucks!!" accusations that the plot then scrambles to at least semi-validate--but tbh what especially pisses me off about this situation is the way it almost seems like SWK has been written into this state where he's not allowed to have any other close companions besides LEMH, and in following so many cool and interesting stories that they COULD have gone with have been tossed down the drain. I've talked plenty about how it sucks that basically everyone from SWK's past hates his guts, how he's now routinely been written as an entire screw-up and now at times an entire asshole, & that we STILL don't know what happened to the og pilgrims (though given past writing whatever bad thing ended their lives was was probably mostly swk's fault lmao), but as of season 4, it turns out he never even had a monkey yao family (which means no grandchildren, no marshals, no "big happy family," no other monkey yaoguai characters who knew the Monkey King, etc), his six other actual friends in the sworn brotherhood never existed aside from the Demon Bull King (very confused as to why you would write them out of existence like that's basically 5 free ocs you've just been handed), he's never had any other tudi outside of MK (which means there's now no chance MK could gain some elder brothers in Liu Chenxiang and the Indian prince SWK trained in the og classic), and it's like...you can do SO much with a Journey to the West retelling, even one for little kids, but tbh Monkie Kid seems to more and more be this series of slamming doors & a subtle yet persistent disdain of the og classic, and tbh the shadowpeach ship seems like the epitome of that. As it is, it's hard to watch Monkie Kid these days without being reminded of this meme:
We can have some fun together :3 get into some cheeky mischief :3 There will be: - An abundance of animal videos - Rushed but hopefully funnily edited images and videos - Lots. And lots. of talking to myself - Some angst - Not a lot of research put into these posts - Or thought lol - Lore - Headcanons By the way, there won't be any Mei ships on this blog. There might be an occasional reference to spicynoodles, freenoodles, shadowpeach, or other ships, but no Mei ships. There's also a chance my own interests will reflect in this blog (as if the existence of it isn't enough LOL) along with some personal anecdotes,, but yeah, im just here to have my fun as someone who kins Mei :) Connected accounts: @thecoolestnoodle - MK @capsaison - Red Son @thegreatsagewukong - Sun Wukong @sixearedshadow - Six-eared Macaque @tangycicada - Tang @thethirdlotusprince - Nezha @mayorofmegapolis - The Mayor
Note
I'm willing to read most shadowpeach fics even if they are pretty ooc (I have a limit of ooc, but it's pretty wide) but fics I can't read are ones where macaque is just now in modern times meeting wukong. Like I'm sorry, but macaque would be a completely different person if he never met wukong. So wildly different that a macaque acting like macaque breaks my suspension of belief, and a macaque acting like he should in that scenario isn't my macaque anymore by any metric (might as well be an OC)
I sat here for a bit wondering how to say that I haven't actually found any Shadowpeach fics I like that I haven't written myself without sounding horridly self absorbed/picky but it's where I'm at
To be clear, I've only been in fandom for a few months and I haven't looked all that hard, I'm sure out of the 8k or so on ao3 there are absolute gems, just haven't found em. I'm open to recs! but I'm in fandom for characterization and specific dynamics which drew me to the characters in the first place, so you've got the biggest lead on me for not being picky/coming off as judgy, anon hahaha
In that circumstance you laid out I'd also wonder who Wukong would even be. He's influenced by his past relationships just as much, even if he isn't as overt about it as Macaque/he's had a wider range of influence since Macaque is more Wukong centered than vice versa, it would still be Different.
Fic of them in early or pre brotherhood would be really interesting! Or in this AU- a Macaque full out reincarnation would be fascinating if LBD hadn't brought him back. Like, that could be interesting, but their history is such a core part, even as obscured as some of it is to us right now, that I'd have a hard time trying to untangle it and make it feel like them. It would still have to be History on Wukong's end for me or too many pieces are gone from the jenga tower yfm
I'm also someone who writes canon compliant or adjacent stuff Most of the time, where I like to extrapolate and kind of take the edges of the picture and expand, like a degree removed from canon/plausible, but not putting people in totally different worlds or altering major canon events. Hell, I don't even make OCs for fics unless my arm is twisted by necessity (my novel length tdp fic has some OCs because I needed more characters for the mains to meet in the world/filling in vacuums left by foreign leaders being killed, said OCs are still as minor as I can make them while being hopefully interesting and serving their purpose)
However, I know that a majority of fandom really loves totally new AUs in other worlds/making OCs (LMK fandom is especially OC heavy which was a surprise to me) and that's its own writing exercise/source of fun, it's just one I've never had a desire to read or write. Canon for me is fun to explore more of canon potential, not to fuel something seemingly unrelated
As I said, I'm picky. I typically don't even read modern AUs for fantasy characters, it just so happens that LMK works so well that I love the futuristic world and get my magic meets technology kicks in canon, otherwise I wouldn't have anything written in remotely modern day within the past few years. LMK got me back into it
So I hear you about characterization/I probably sound like I live a stifled existence but I just thrive by being as close to canon as I can while playing with it, my most fun is different from others on the fan spectrum
And all this isn't to say that I feel like an expert in characterizing Macaque and Wukong- they're tough cases to crack. They're challenging. They both have their facades and levels of jadedness and sincerity. LMK requires flat out studying to really nail anyone I've found, even characters I feel more confident in writing- and that challenge is part of the draw for me too!
(lmao open the images for better quality, I hate when Tumblr do this to me)
Spicynoodles MDZS AU
Yeah, that's right. A MDZS AU for Monkie Kid. I like MDZS (been readin' the novel this past few days) and I like Monkie Kid, so why not mash 'em up together???
If anyone is curious 'bout like the general story, the relationships, the lore, etc etc, you can send me asks! they're always open! I won't put what I have so far here 'cuz I don't want to make this an endless post.
Just a few clarifications:
I did a design for Sandy, but I didn't like it at all, so this is why he isn't here.
This is a solely a Spicynoodles AU. If anything, there'll be past Shadowpeach. Oh, but Pigsy and Tang are married, so Freenoodles for everybody!
I clearly took inspiration from MDZS' sects/clans (like, MK clothes are exactly the Jin one lol) but decided to not make the characters part of the canon existent sects, I made my own for all of 'em.
Oh! Can you rank macaque ships too?
69, shadowpuppet ect
Macaque Ship Ratings
(Scores rank from -10 at the lowest, and 10 at the highest)
(Sun Wukong)
Before reading this list, please keep in mind:
1. Not every ship has enough content for me to remark on, and some ships contain dynamics that I find triggering!
2. My social media usage is limited, and I don’t use every site.
3. I have not consumed every piece of artwork and fanfic in the fandom, so I’m just remarking on trends from what I have seen.
Tumblr media
Shadowpuppet
Name Rating: 10/10. I’ll admit- this one is good! I like the reference to: Macaque’s powers, the Mayor’s status as a (willing) pawn of the LBD, Macaque’s status as a (sort of willing) pawn of the LBD, Macaque’s actual use of shadow puppetry… it’s a good name!
Canon Rating: -5/10. Look. C’mon. The Mayor and Macaque have literally no positive interactions at all, they have barely any screen time together regardless. Anything the Mayor does to Macaque is immediately harmful and he takes glee in it.
Fanon Rating: -3/10. In general you’ll notice a running trend that Fanon!Macaque in general is your generically rancid and one-note “He never did even a single bad thing ever at all!” that woobified villains tend to get, and Shadowpuppet goes hard on this trend by portraying Macaque purely through the lens of him being a flat and uninspired “eternal victim”- but it only gets a -3 because it is somewhat appropriate when the person in question genuinely is an awful person who has only ever hurt Macaque.
Personal Enjoyment: 0/10. Sorry, y’all. I just don’t see it.
Tumblr media
Shadowpeach
Name Rating: 5/10. Basic, but rolls off the tongue. Started the trend of Sun Wukong having extremely basic ship names, unfortunately.
Canon Rating: 0/10. Whatever they had in the past, Macaque simply treats Wukong far too awfully to really justify the two of them ever getting together. Even the attempts at reconciliation feel more like extremely forced ship baiting, given how it goes from one of the two being marginally kinder to the other than usual, then immediately dropping it for more sniping. (Past!Shadowpeach receives 5/10.)
Fanon Rating: -10/10. I've spoken at length about this, but fans love to distort Wukong into a drooling abuser so stupid he can't breath through his nose, usually while turning Macaque into a Possession Sue who only serves to be the author's simpering self-insert who is the most perfect little baby of all time who has never ever done anything wrong at all even once. If there is an attempt to be “nuanced" or "unbiased" it manifests as "Sun Wukong "killed" (re: defended himself against) Macaque so he's worse." It's an awful, extremely pervasive dynamic that rots any fandom enjoyment I could have had for this couple.
Personal Enjoyment: 6/10. Getting to write Macaque as the legitimately awful person that he is takes off the edge of seeing constant “uwu sadboi" Macaque content. Still, I rarely touch anyone else's Shadowpeach content because of how pervasive “Fanon!Macaque” is.
Tumblr media
Blackberry
Name Rating: 10/10. Macaque actually gets like… really good ship names. Whoever is coming up with these is putting in more effort than whoever came up with all of Sun Wukong’s ship names, at least. The name references both Change’s association with food, and is a color that both characters share! Also- I have a serious weakness for ship names that reference real things.
Canon Rating: 0/10. There’s not even any indication that the two know that the other exists. Maybe they’ll meet up at some point, but as for right now
Fanon Rating: -5/10. Hey, remember what I said above two times already? That Fanon!Macaque is a big simpering bitch baby who only exists to serve as an eternal victim for the writer to coddle like a saint whose only crime is being too perfect? Same applies to Blackberry, to no surprise! It’s less egregious in that Chang’e is legitimately a sweet and loving lady.
Personal Enjoyment: 3/10. The fanart can be cute, but that’s about all that Blackberry has going for it that appeals to my taste. Maybe I’ll come around to it if they have some interaction in the show proper, but I’m not banking on it.
Tumblr media
Inkypages
Name Rating: 7/10. This is a simpler name, but I like it! Again, Macaque’s (and Tang’s, too!) ship names are willing to go beyond trying to confine him to a single aspect of his character and actually utilize several aspects of his personality and being beyond just one food. (Yes I’m still mad about the peach prioritization that Sun Wukong’s ship names have.) Inkypages isn’t bad! I like saying it! It’s a logical thing to say!
Canon Rating: -10/10. Okay. Okay, I know. I talk about this a lot. Macaque in the story doesn’t really have logical growth as a character because the show isn’t willing to center any significant time around his flaws and misdeeds outside of MK being hurt by him and then in turn throwing him second chances like cheap candy, which means that Macaque’s genuinely villainous actions have no weight because even the people hurt the worst by him don’t actually get to have thoughts or feelings on how he’s hurt them, and even at his absolute most rancid all of his wrongdoings are simply forgotten, which means his dynamic with Tang is literally: Be a piece of shit -> degrade him -> violently attack him -> try to manipulate him -> be defended by Tang after releasing the Samadhi Fire -> nothing.
It’s... it’s just not good. I still don’t understand why Macaque was going to be a villain at all if nothing he did reflects back onto him in any way or is hard to grow past. It’s just... their dynamic is bad. Most of Macaque’s dynamics are bad because the majority of his growth happens offscreen and away from the people that he’s hurt, which leaves reduces what could’ve been a genuinely intriguing and complex character arc to nothing.
Fanon Rating: -8/10. Hey, do you guys like seeing Tang be turned into a snarky lid-eyed whore who hates Wukong? No? Then you won’t like Inkypages. Hey, do you guys like seeing Macaque be reduced to a blubbering pants-shitting baby who needs to be coddled past whatever misdeeds the author invented to be mad at Wukong for supposedly committing? No? Then you won’t like Inkypages. Hey, do you guys like blatant character assassination for the sake of babying villainous blorbos and over-angstifying old men? No? Then you won’t like Inkypages.
Personal Enjoyment: 0/10. This is the longest section of this rant for a reason. I just… it’s a lot like Shadowpeach, where to a large degree the fans have kinda turned me away from any portrayal of the ship- except Shadowpeach has an interesting enough dynamic that I like engaging with it anyhow, at least on my own.
End Result
(Scores ranging from -40 to +40)
Shadowpuppet= 2/40
Shadowpeach= 1/40
(Past!Shadowpeach would be around 20)
Blackberry= 8/40
Inkypages= -11/40
Alright, ship opinion question. Between Shadowpeach, Inkypages, Free Noodles, what do you think of them? I'm asking this since you've told us about your opinions on Red Mei and MK, I was curious what you thought of the old men in LMK X3
MM YES, GAY OLD MAN BEING IN LOVE
First of all, obviously I have to make it clear that I just adore these, their dynamics are all completely different.
Shadowpeach
It's not for nothing but I adore them for a simple reason, the raw emotions between them, because it's not just "romance" anymore, there are many layers that cover their past and present relationship, all that hate, resentment, pain and all the love and care that could have existed before, it is a relationship that seems to be simple but is out of it. Because their relationship is free to interpretation, I like to see them as tragic lovers :)) they have my 35/10
Freenoodles
In case you haven't noticed, THEY WERE MY FIRST TUMBLR DRAWING, SO YOU CAN IMAGINE WHO IS MY FAVORITE, 100/10, mY LOVE FOR THESE TWO IS immeasurable, uncountable, incomprehensible, I JUST LOVE THEM, that sweet taste of domestic fluff with a dash of gay parenting and cute lovebirds, *chef kiss* 🤌I just love them
Inkypages
Well, i must say, i like their dynamic, I find it ironic that the fandom ships them because of the story behind them, how Macaque tried to make Tang see that Monkey King was not a trustworthy person and how HE PROJECTED HIMSELF ON TANG (while he was gaslighting him) BUT IT'S STILL an amazing dynamic, 8/10
so today i remembered to transfer the Shadowpeach Drabbles I wrote for @winterpower98 Cursed AU onto Ao3, and in honor of that (and simply because I wanted to) I have written a bonus part-
-
"Another cave? Seriously?"
The group of three stood at the entrance to the cave, looking in, trying to see as far as they could into the darkness.
"Must we explore every cave we stumble upon?" Macaque sighed.
"Well, it's not gonna explore itself." MK shrugged, turning to go in, only to be stopped as Wukong leapt in front of him.
"Oh no you don't." He said, "You're not going in there by yourselves. I'm coming with you this time."
"Wait, why would you-" Macaque started, confused.
"Because the last time you two went into a cave by yourselves, MK ended up with an injured leg." Wukong said, arms crossed. "I'm coming with you this time, and that's final."
"But what about-" MK started-
"It's fine. I'll be fine." Wukong said, walking past MK and Macaque, marching into the cave as though if he waited any longer he'd loose his nerve. "Let's hurry up and get this over with."
MK watched his mentors back with concern, before glancing to the side to see Macaque mirroring his expression. Said expression snapped back into a more neutral one once he noticed that MK was looking at him though.
"C'mon." Macaque said, nudging MK as he walked past him. "Let's make sure he doesn't freak out and fall down a hole or something."
-
Surprisingly enough, things didn't immediately go downhill.
Well, that is, up until-
A loose rock tumbled down from above, and Wukong, who was already very on edge, startled backwards, bumping into Macaque and knocking him over, sending the both of them rolling over a ledge and down a small cliff, the both of them ending up laying on top of each other.
MK, after doing a quick check and making sure they were both okay, stood on the edge of the ledge and smirked.
"I thought you said you were going to keep him from falling down a hole." He said, and Macaque groaned.
"I didn't think he'd knock me down with him." He said, slowly moving to sit up as Wukong hurriedly backed off of him, giving a murmured apology.
And then MK jumped down the ledge, landing with a thump and knocking loose a few more rocks, and suddenly Wukong was clinging to Macaque again.
(Macaque was suddenly grateful, that he was the one with the super hearing. He wasn't particularly fond of the idea of Wukong noticing how fast his heart was racing from the close contact.)
"Sorry." MK said, wincing as he realized he'd startled his mentor. Wukong gave him a nervous smile.
"It's fine bud." He said, but Macaque could feel him shaking a little. Macaque sighed, before starting to try and peel Wukong's arms off of him.
"You can let go of me now." He said, trying to ignore the knowing look MK was giving him. "C'mon, we won't be able to move if you keep clinging to me like this-"
"It...helps though. The touch, I mean." Wukong reluctantly admitted, slowly letting go. "Though you're right, I guess we wouldn't be able to move if I'm clinging to you like-"
"Why don't you just carry him then?" MK asked, and Macaque's head shot up.
"What-" He hissed, and then nearly bit his tongue to keep himself from yelping as suddenly he was being lifted up, being held tight against Wukong. The Monkey King wordlessly held him bridal style, obviously happy for a way to maintain contact while also being able to move. His arms were tight around Macaque as though he was holding onto a teddy bear for comfort. He turned around, starting to walk as Macaque remained silent in shock, trying to process what had just happened.
He looked over Wukong's shoulder, back at MK, who gave him a smirk and a thumbs up.
Oh that little sh-
The shock finally wore off, and Macaque started struggling.
"Put me down!" He hissed, fur bristling. "I can walk by myself!"
"I know." Wukong said, but didn't even loosen his grip in the slightest.
Macaque gave up on struggling suspiciously quickly.
-
Oh, how MK wished he had a camera.
Well, actually, he did, in fact, have his phone with him, but every time he started trying to pull it out, Macaque would glare at him from over Wukong's shoulder.
MK eventually resolved to committing the image to memory in order to draw it later.
As it was though, they'd found another exit out of the cave, one that lead into a wide open meadow instead of the dark forest they'd been traveling through. Wukong immediately let out a relieved sigh, slouching a little and loosening his grip on Macaque, who almost immediately jumped out of his arms, brushing invisible dirt off his clothes.
"Glad that's over." He said, before registering the muffled giggling coming from behind him.
MK kept one hand covering his mouth to keep his giggles quiet, and at Macaque's questioning look, he subtly gestured to the monkey's tail.
Which was currently wrapped around Wukong's.
Wukong seemed to notice this fact at the exact same time Macaque did, an embarrassed flush taking over both monkeys faces, their tails letting go of each other as they looked away in different directions, avoiding eye contact.
MK almost wished that Mei (or maybe even Red Son) was here so that he could have someone to lose his mind over this with.
Pretty much anyone would do, really, he just needed someone to rant to about all this-
Wait. He could have someone to rant to, now that he thinks about it.
He looked back over at Wukong and Macaque, making sure that they were suitably distracted.
And then he took one of his hairs and blew on it.
And Porty MK popped into existence.
He still looked like a monkey, exactly like how MK currently did, but the sunglasses and coat made it obvious that it was Porty. (MK never really did understand how Porty and the others had managed to maintain their clothes and personality. To be honest he....didn't really want to think too hard about it.)
Anyways, back to business.
"Are you seeing this?" MK asked, gesturing over at where Wukong and Macaque had somehow swapped from looking away from each other, flustered, to all out glaring at each other, albeit with a certain sense of playfulness in it that would be hidden to anyone who wasn't looking for it.
"Oh, I'm seeing it alright." Porty said, before smirking a little. "But don't worry OG, y'see, I've got a plan."
And really, MK should've dispelled Porty right then and there.
But on the other hand, it'd been weeks. Weeks of dealing with the mutual pining that rivaled the number of pine trees in the forest they'd been walking through.
In the end, he'd ended up accepting Porty's plan.
-
Porty shook MK awake later that night. (MK had dispelled him as they'd walked through the meadow, only bringing him back in secret before going to bed once they'd made it back to the edge of the forest.) The clone must've been hiding in the trees or in a bush, MK thought, as there were stray leaves within his hair.
"They're asleep." Porty whispered, "C'mon, OG. Let's hurry this up."
MK crawled out of his sleeping bag, shaking some of the tiredness out of his body as he stood up.
The plan was simple.
MK would push Wukong out of the tree. Porty would catch him. (MK had, recently, discovered the Monkey King was actually a heavy sleeper. His strong nighttime vigilance from legends had literally only been the result of him not sleeping at all.) Once they'd secured Wukong, they'd carry him and lay him down near where Macaque slept, and simply let things play out from there.
MK was halfway up the tree Wukong was sleeping in when he remembered something important.
"...Are you sure you'll be able to catch him?" MK asked, and both he and Porty went silent as they remembered just how easily a clone could be destroyed.
"...Good point, OG." Porty said, "Let's swap, I'll push him out of the tree, you can catch him."
With a quick change of positions, the plan was back in motion. Porty shoved Wukong out of the tree, and MK caught him, stumbling a little under the dead weight. (And oh, was he ever glad for his super strength.) The two of them paused for a moment, waiting to see if Wukong would wake up.
When the Monkey King showed no signs of stirring, Porty jumped down from the tree, landing beside MK, and the both of them turned around, slowly walking over to where Macaque lay on the other side of the camp.
"...What are you doing?"
And oh, MK had just known he had forgotten something.
Both MK and Porty startled, MK only just barely keeping himself from dropping Wukong, as they whirled around to see-
Wukong's hair clone, lounging back on his cloud, watching them with a disapproving look.
"It was his idea!" Porty quickly said, pointing at MK, who let out an offended "Hey!", before suddenly Porty dispelled himself, disappearing in a quick flash, leaving MK alone with the Wukong hair clone.
MK nervously giggled, tightening his grip on the asleep Monkey King as the hair clone's eyes narrowed.
And then suddenly the clone smirked, amusement in it's eyes, and MK relaxed, letting out a breath of relief.
"It's about time you actually tried to push things along." The hair clone said, lounging back on its cloud, looking away. "I can't say he's gonna be happy in the morning though."
MK rolled his eyes, he'd already long since accepted he'd probably have to go through some kind of stern telling off tomorrow. With the hair clone seemingly having given it's permission, MK turned, completing his mission of bringing Wukong over to Macaque, gently laying the Monkey King on the ground beside the shadow monkey.
Macaque shifted, rolling over, and MK froze, worrying that he'd accidentally made too much noise-
But then Macaque put an arm around Wukong, pulling him closer, Wukong responding by nuzzling into the other's neck as their tails curled together.
MK made no short work of pulling out his phone and snapping a picture. (And sending said picture to both Mei and his own email. One could never have too many backups after all, Macaque was sure to try and delete it once he knew it existed).
Mission accomplished, he returned to his own sleeping bag, whispering a quiet good night to the Wukong hair clone as he walked by.
(In all honesty, MK didn't think this would get Wukong or Macaque to confess. It might push them a little closer to it, yes, but it wouldn't make it actually happen, no, there was far too much going on, too much history for one night of cuddling together to lead to a full out love confession.
Until that time, he'd be fine with just watching the chaos that unfolds.
....He was fairly sure that, come morning, their expressions would be hilarious to witness though).
