oh, starscream, when you mentioned aviator flu, that reminded me! ive had to carry away two perfectly good bird carcasses to the woods so far :( i love birds they were so heartbreakingly light wahhh.. im not sure what the first one was but i know the second one last week was a swallow! they're very common where i live and they like nesting near barns and similar places :)

i wish i had had some sort of method to preserve them! ill need to look into those for sure, because its not a want it's a need. im sure you understand!!

side note, i also want to preserve the body part of one of my pets some day. they mean a lot to me and having that would be such a sweet way of always having them with me, imo :)

do you have any pets btw? or did you ever want to? earth animal or not, i wanna hear about 'em! i like speculative biology by the way. :) sorry

I love swallows! They've got so many different names and they travel to Africa every winter and then to America and Europe for the summertime. I've been watching some here. They're really beautiful. Similar birds are martins (some nest in holes in cliffs and steep riverbanks and other kinds nest on houses – they make a gun-like noise when they're on the wing, so you always know it's them and not swallows) and swifts (they only ever land when they're tending their nests/young. They make a "wheeee" sound that's very loud – you can hear them through double-glazed windows and they've got long, curved wings that are much longer than swallows' and martins' wings). I hope I'm not boring you.

If you can't keep their bodies, could you photograph them? Maybe you could even send pictures to a local organisation or something that looks after wildlife in your area, for their records. I think Dot would be interested, if you were in her area.

It's worth looking into. Many organisations have forums, websites and even Flickr groups you can submit pictures, sound/video recordings and observations to. Pictures and sound don't have to be expert-level, but you do need to be able to recognise the bird or animal.

Dead specimens are usually OK (but check) if they're... you know... intact and not... gross. I recommend against submitting disturbing images unless a site, group or forum states otherwise.

I haven't got any pets, but I'd like a dog. There are some spectacular breeds from Cybertron that I'd love to own. Megatron says I'm too immature.

I've been looking after Calla! That's a lot of work.

Yeah, but her poop isn't as smelly as a carnivore's poop. Calla doesn't need housebreaking. She doesn't whine and paw at you for attention when you're busy. A puppy is with you in the house. They chew. They get into mischief. They pee and poop a lot. You have to watch them and train them and if you don't put the time in you end up with disobedient, destructive, dirty animals you can't trust inside your house.

I’ve had this piece in my head (and on random post-it notes) since 2020-2021. It’s nice to finally put it to paper, or to procreate I guess. It’s not quite how I pictured it, but it’s where I’m at now skill-wise.

The Crane Wives are one of my favorite bands, and have been a huge inspiration in all of my creative pursuits, whether that be art or writing. Their music really speaks to me.

It was interesting reading up on the meaning behind the band name! I wasn’t aware of the myth of the crane wife before, it was really interesting reading up on it, and it helped me figure out exactly which bird to draw. If you’re not familiar with it and like mythology, I definitely recommend looking it up!

I do!!! It's actually a lot less depressing than you think!

I imagine that Anya grew up in an average happy family, well average for whatever lower middle class family is in a world we can assume exist in a place where late stage capitalism won. I'll try to keep this in line with how I describe Curly and Jimmy's backstories but she had a family that tried to uplift her when it matter. They paid attention to what she cared about and made sure they knew she cared. I believe they couldn't support her in school due to her path and the modern expenses but they encouraged her and her every choice. She didn't have parties but she got gifts to help her express and explore herself.

Life was something I think Anya handled well. She was not the top student but she was a good student. She managed her job and school as well as she could and took the PE job so she could go back. She had nothing saved up but she planned in accordance, hence her concern about the baby. She had a good circle of people, maybe not someone who ever got her, but people that heard her out and understood enough to where she always got herself. She had partners and thought about futures but always thought about hers specifically first, not selfishly, but truly asking if they were facing the same directions.

She was always in her own head, not in a bad way though. She was always thinking about what she could do. I think she just liked knowing she could. I think she became a nurse because she wanted to give people choice in the same way she understood it. Doctors just fix a problem but nurses walk you through it, I think Anya

I genuinely believe that because she lived thinking of all the choices she had and all the ways she could overcome things, the fact that she was trapped on board with so little escape and choices, while not being heard or understood really just put the pin in her final acts of agency.

Itzel's SO chatty, it is yap central with her she loves talking she's very silly and rambunctious and full of life, but she's also like debilitatingly anxious though so that's um not good. Lupe's like the opposite she kinda goes through life all like 🙂 she's way too nonchalant about everything, life throws bullshit at her every 5 seconds and she sits there like "its fiiiiineee 😼". It lands her it a lot of shit. She doesn't care bc "it'll sort itself out"...It never sorts itself out. Lupe also doesn't talk all that much, which suits her just fine because Itzel talks more than enough for the both of them.

i also did Itzel's casual outside of work outfit so here's that

genuinely adore that fact that Robin is so damn good at everything he tries EXCEPT beyblading, and that’s the one skill he wants to learn with all his heart, and the only skill he gives a damn about.

“But he should focus on what he’s good at!”. Seeing someone who sucks at beyblading trying so hard is a major point in the show. He’s got so many other skills he’s naturally good at, but rather than choosing based off that, he chose what he’s passionate about.
