i always see things like dan heng consciously hiding his Cloudhymm, which ive always liked as a "this is natural for me and i have to squash the instinct to use this or appear as that" but i recently thought of a different approach to this that i think fits amphoreus better.

so i like writing dan heng with like. an imaginary sphere of water in his chest thats like the core of his cloudhymm, whatever. I think tht control of cloudhymm is natural for him- not perfect control, but very good, as we saw in some of the luofu flashbacks way back when. but when your stowed away on a mourning actor's ship, and your first instinct upon being discovered is to full-transform and bomb them with a water dragon, it starts to work against you. add in a healthy dose of shame about using said power and deciding to be completely unlike dan feng, and you get dan heng consciously locking away his Cloudhymm in a big box labeled "Do Not Touch."

What I propose is that he trained himself to, every time there was danger, freeze his cloudhymm. it gives him no backup if something goes wrong. but he cant accidentally call on it or transform.

and this works great until the luofu, where his failsafe goes and fails, and now hes imbibitor lunae for a bit.

and hes in the data room for weeks? months? however long until the end of penacony, trying to figure out what's teh best course of action now. he doesn'treally come to a conclusive answer till amphoreus.

phainon cuts Cloudpiercer in two like it's the easiest thing ever. Dan heng can no longer trust his physical skill to keep him safe. He has to keep his Cloudhymm thawed out, and it scares teh hell out of him. Instead of figthing the instinct to use Cloudhymm when he gets bound by Aglaea or when they fight Nikador, I suggest that he fights the instinct to not use it. Like, there are several instances of fights on amphoreus where the only weapon he'll use is the cloudhymm sphere, and as the updates progress, he becomes more and more willing (or, in this case, more and more able) to use cloudhymm.
