We then see a lesson taking place - The 5 girls are in a singing class, and Madam Jung is instructing them in the 흥보가 (The tale of Heungbo). The teacher asks them to sing individually, where we see the singing prowess of each girl. As the teacher goes around and corrects each student individually, the other girls keep on practicing. The harmony of their voices impress her and she remarks that their voices together sounded beautiful. Just like the title of the piece 두손합장 - "A Song sung by joining two hands" means a clap, sori - singing - should be performed by a singer and a gosu (drum player). The teacher mentions that the moral of Heungbo's tale is that kindness reaps kindness and spreads it out to the world, and evil returns back to itself again. The class is dispersed, and three gongs call for dinnertime.
We are introduced to the other people at the gyobang at dinner. Senior practicing gisaengs Ahn Mi-hee (Geum-wol), Hong Yi-rin (Yoo-hwa), Park Hwa-myeong (Oh-hye), So Myeong-ae (Mi-soon) and Hwang Kyung-sil (Mae-hyang), medicinal gisaeng Gil Jin-yi, sorikkun Jo Sook-hyun, the seamstress Jang Sook, who reminds Wol-hyang of her mother, and the cook Uhm Geum, at whose sight "you can't help but laugh".
My old Sageuk script, revised! ----- Madam Jung : Where is Yoo-hwa? She should have been here by afternoon. Myeong Ae: She's in the palace today I think the Prince has taken a liking to her. Madam Jung : I see. I hope she doesn't get swayed by the Prince to stay at the court. Mi Hee : Why? If the Prince likes her, she might receive a lot of money. And maybe she will become his concubine! Madam Jung : Not every gisaeng's path leads to the court. Yoo-hwa is too naive to get into politics, and is too skilled to be an entertainment to the Royal family. Jin Yi : I've heard that the Consort Hee of the Jang family is a very greedy woman. Yoo-hwa would suffer a lot if she gets in that woman's way. As someone who has seen her since she was young, I am worried. Jang Sook : Consorts are always greedy. I don't understand why. The court is splitting like a watermelon, the nation is being attacked on the shores, and these women give birth to four of five babies for what? For the land they receive? For their son to be the next king? So they can be the Queen Dowager and order their own son and the court around? Madam Jung : (raises hand) We are no one to judge someone else's situation and decisions in life. All we can do is live with it and give the children an example of how to,nor how not to, lead life.
Madam Jung : Cheon-geum-ah? Cheon-geum  : Yes, mother 네, 어머님 Madam Jung : You are the closest to the age of 16 among the training gisaengs. Am I right? Cheon-geum  : True, mother. Madam Jung : Then, have you decided on a gisaeng name yet? Cheon-geum  : No, mother. Madam Jung : Why so, when I have reminded you mamy times? Cheon-geum : (stutters slightly, in a quieter voice) I- I intend not to take on a gisaeng name, mother. Wol-hyang : (looks at Eui-hye with a look of worry) Madam Jung : May I know the reason? Cheon-geum  : (voice becoming more firm) My mother gave me a name that I think is fitting to me. I want to be a heavenly lyre player even when I'm a gisaeng. Please understand this young girl's wish, mother. Soon-ryeon : (leans over to Wol-hyang and whispers) when is her birthday? In how many months? Wol-hyang : ( noticing that Madam Jung jas noticed Soonryeon whispering, signals with her hand, 2 fingers. SR gives a look of "well, whatever" and continues eating.) Madam Jung : (slightly angry) So you think these reasons give you the freedom that your friends don't have? What makes you think you have a choice? Cheon-geum : (quiet but firm) None of the other girls were born to a gisaeng and raised to be one. I have never known anything else but being a gisaeng. How can I change my name? Madam Jung : (breathes in sharply) Listen here, child... Mi-hee : (signals to Madam Jung to let her deal with it) Cheon-geum-ah, think again. All of us have gisaeng names. Hwa-myeong : I am also the daughter of a gisaeng. I know that you're proud of your name, but I'm sure your mother would appreciate it if you followed the tradition. Myeong-ae : ... it is, in the end, what she did too. It wouldn't be wrong to do so. Hwa-myeong : You think it would be disrespectful to your mother, isn't it? Cheon-geum  : (nods timidly) Mi-hee : I can assure you, it isn't. In fact, I'm sure your mother, if she were here, would tell you to leave your pride behind and do the same as all your seniors, and be a honourable gisaeng. You understand? Cheon-geum  : (lowers her head at the sudden interjection of the seniors, embarrassed) I understand. I will think about it. Madam Jung : Lift your head up. I will give you time until the day before your 17th birthday. Have you understood? Cheon-geum  : Yes, mother.
Jang Sook : Madam, isn't it commonplace to name the girls as soon as they enter the gyobang? Madam Jung : You are right, Mrs. Jang. But I feel like a child should be able to enjoy her name before having it taken away from her. Jin-yi : This gyobang really seems like the only one in the kingdom to do so. Jang Sook : I have heard of another gyobang in the Pyongyang region, where they allow the girls to choose which field they study in, isn't that good too, madam? Madam Jung : I disagree with that. I know that some of the best gisaengs especially in dancing and singing have come from that gyobang, but the gisaengs there lack an all-round education. A gisaeng should be able to do anything. Myeong-ae : I agree, mother. There is no reason a gisaeng who excels at poetry would also excel at dancing. Soon-ryeon, Eui-hye and Hwa-jung : (look at  Wol-hyang with a smile, almost as if taunting her for her two left feet.  Wol-hyang lets out a sigh and stuffs her mouth with rice) Mi-hee : (notices  Wol-hyang, smiles) Mi-soon-ah (referring to Myeong-ae by her gisaeng name) , to realise you're wrong, you don't need to look far. Wol-hyang : (even more embarrassed, she cowers and keeps on stuffing rice into her mouth) Mi-hee : I'm sitting right here, am I not, mother? Wol-hyang : (surprised at the sudden relevation, looks up) Madam Jung : I remember. Mi-hee : (continues) There were days I practiced until my legs bruised, and I thought of Yoo-hwa (Yi-rin's gisaeng name) and cried, because I wasn't even as good as her toenail when it came to dancing. Myeong-ae : (laughs) And weren't there days I made the floor wet with my tears, as my voice cracked at all the songs, Geum-wol? Hwa-myeong : I remember crying while playing the drums - I hit my head with a drumstick. (laughter erupts across the room) . I got a big red boil on my head like an egg. It's practice, practice and again practice, that made us to be as skilled as we are. (turns to Wolhyang) There's no need to worry at all. If there is a will, there is a way. (Wolhyang : bends her head, half in shame, half in relief. The seniors and Madam Jung smile, and everyone continues eating)

#RUNONWEEK Day Two: Harold...
Our pragmatic Park Mae-yi, who covers a wide range on the LGBTQIA spectrum.
As a queer person, I don't really have the words to say how much I appreciate seeing someone like myself reflected on the kdrama screen. What could have been a single blink-and-you'll-miss-it throwaway line was expanded upon in a small and thoughtful way, taking on so much more personal meaning. Isn't it amazing how impactful a few lines of dialogue can be?

Okay, so I've been watching a lot of kdramas (or by extent Asian dramas) since March 2020, and there were a lot of characters who were so queer coded (or just had a fruityness to them)?? Anyway, so here's a list
But let's start with some canonically queer characters in mainstream dramas, shall we?
Park Mae Yi (Run On) - is ace and talks about her asexuality early on in the show
Go Ye Joon (Run On) - is gay and outs himself in the end, has a talk with another character about the discrimination and struggles of being gay
Ma Hyun Yi (Itaewon Class) - is mtf transgender, and while her being a cook is her main story arc, her confidence and pride of being trans is important too
Hikari Kuina (Alice in Borderland) - is mtf transgender and an absolute badass fighter as she grew up learning martial arts
Jung Seo Hyun (Mine) - is lesbian and (like every woman in this drama) an incredible independant badass
Now that we have that out of the way, let's move on to the actual queer-coding:
Seo Moon Jo (Strangers from Hell) - okay, he may be a psychopath and a serial killer BUT he calls Jongwoo 'babe' every chance he gets, and immediately threw his strategies out the window for him, so I declare him gay
Seo In Woo (Psychopath Diary) - again, similar to Moon Jo, the homoerotic tension of obsessive love is STRONG, and in his case, In Woo and Dong Sik are even mistaken as a couple at some point, he's definitely gay
Oh Mi Joo (Run On) - she just gives me bisexual wife energy, especially when you consider her chemistry with Dan Ah
Jang Bong Hwan / Queen So Young (Mr. Queen) - considering their souls are trapped in the same body, and Bong Hwan actually falls in love with the king at some point, they definitely fall into the genderfluid and queer spectrum
Han Se Ju (Chicago Typewriter) - like with Mi Joo, I have no actual reasoning other than vibes, and Se Ju just gives me incredible chaotic bisexual vibes, also his character is basically in a polyamorous relationship that's disguised with some bromance
Jang Man Weol (Hotel Del Luna) - okay, you cannot tell me that somebody who has been alive for 1300 years and is as flirty and cheeky as Man Weol is straight, she definitely falls on the mspec spectrum as well
So Mun (The Uncanny Counter) - again, this is based off vibes, but So Mun feels like a closeted bisexual kid (and boy am I speaking from experience here lmao)
Lee Yeon (Tale of the Nine Tailed) - this man is not only an ancient god, but a fruity god at that. One, he has that bromance chemistry with his best friend, second his true love is kind of split into a male and a female soul if I remember correctly?? that's kinda queer
Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishou (Word of Honor) - I'm putting them together because they're technically canon in the source material, but their chemistry in the drama is still off the charts
Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji (The Untamed) - again, they're gay in the novel but are demoted to "platonic soulmates" in the drama
Wen Qing (The Untamed) - my queen and her (not subtle) hatred for men flirting with her~ she gives me lesbian vibes and you cannot change my mind
Lu Yao and Qiao Chusheng (My Roommate is a Detective) - I don't know if this has a novel, but considering their immense chemistry, an incident of Yao introducing himself as Chusheng's boyfriend, and their overall vibes, they both give me bisexual vibes
Shang Xirui and Cheng Fengtai (Winter Begonia) - aside from the cinematography of this masterpiece, both Xirui and Fengtai are very queer, and canon in the novel
Rizuna Ann (Alice in Borderland) - she's giving me girlboss-lesbian-who-will-outsmart-you vibes, especially after her and Kuina became ~closer friends~ and solved the last murder case

#RUNONWEEK | day two: harold...
Park Mae Yi
Seongyeom probably thought Mae Yi being asexual meant that she wouldn’t want to be in a romantic relationship. She identifies as asexual but she’s not aromantic. She is comfortable with romance and dating someone. She represents a wide range of the spectrum. Asexuality doesn’t mean just one thing. Sexuality is complex and personal and is different for everyone.
It stuck out to me that when they first met Ji Hyun asked Mae Yi if she was okay with dating men. Even though he fell in love with her at first sight he didn’t automatically assume that she would be straight or that she’d date him. He was considerate of her feelings and made her feel safe before he even knew her.

Places to Visit:
Tumblr media
1.) Chiang Mai: Beautiful temples and stunning scenery
Tumblr media
Chiang Mai, known as the ‘Rose of the North’, is the hub for visitors traveling to northern Thailand. It is popular for misty, jungly mountains, lush rainforest, elephants, and a relaxed vibe...
There are more interesting activities that can be added to your itinerary, such as an experience at Elephant Nature Park, Thai cooking classes, zip-lining in a virgin forest, or a Thai massage. If you visit in November, don’t miss Chiang Mai's Yi Peng Lantern Festival. If your schedule allows, extend your tour to nearby cities, Chiang Rai and Pai.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5.) Phuket - An island paradise...
Tumblr media
Phuket Province is located in Southern Thailand. It is the biggest island of Thailand and sits on the Andaman Sea. The nearest province to the north is Phang-nga and the nearest provinces to the east are Phang-nga and Krabi.
Phuket has a large Chinese influence, so you will see many Chinese shrines and Chinese restaurants around the city. A Chinese Vegetarian Festival is held there every year. While the Chinese community is quite big, there are many other ethnicities bringing all their traditions and festivals from all over the world to Phuket.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Being a big island, Phuket is surrounded by many magnificent beaches such as Rawai, Patong, Karon, Kamala, Kata Yai, Kata Noi, and Mai Khao. Laem Phromthep Viewpoint is said to feature the most beautiful sunsets in Thailand.
4.) Bangkok — Thailand’s Dynamic Capital...
Tumblr media
Thailand’s capital and the top gateway city. It boasts plenty of attractions to keep you busy.
For those interested in learning more about Thailand's splendid architecture and temples, the Grand Palace, Wat Arun, and Wat Pho are must-see attractions.
Those who want to enjoy colorful nightlife should not miss Khao San Road. You can also take a boat trip along the Chao Phraya River to experience local life.
No matter whether you like shopping or not, you should pay a visit to explore a local market, such as Chatuchak Market, Amphawa Floating Market, or Mae Klong Railway Market.

KDRAMAWOMENSWEEK. Day Seven.
“Emotional Support Character”
Tumblr media
Park Mae Yi from Run On
While I certainly have head-canons about some characters in kdramas to be asexual I don't think we have actually had a canon character who says they are ace (or if it has been it's not been that positive... like most minority roles in kdramas unfortunately). Park Mae Yi talks openly about being asexual and it's done really well. I had actually dropped the drama after the first two episodes as the pace and the story if Run On doesn't really appeal to me... but once the ace community started to buzz about this character I had to pick it up again.
And she actually dates and talks about how some ace people actually are romantically attracted to people and it's just said like it's no big deal and you know... it feels refreshing. I am very used to ace rep being young people who feel broken or are figuring things out and it's always so focused on how we don't experience sexual attraction and we don't want sex and the feeling that no one can love you because of it is great and important and all of that.
But to see character who are just open and proud being ace, it's just a normal part of their life and they are just dating and shit... yeah, I like that a lot. We need more ace characters that are like that for people who figured who they were a long time ago and don't feel broken anymore. Because I don't only want to experience being sad and broken through ace characters and their stories. I want them to be happy with who they are and fall in love if they want to and just live their lives.
And Park Mae Yi is giving me that. She is just herself and she takes no shit for it, while also not making that much deal about it.

                                                       PART II
The Crimson City has taken new shape as The Emerald City, and the booze pours like water. Of course, anyone with foresight will know even a Saint Patrick’s Day celebration can’t go untouched by at least one of the families. The drinks have made their rounds, whether that’s lounged at the bar or courtesy of the green and orange clad waiters delivering martinis on a tray. Everyone found their way to their favorite attraction—more like staggered to their favorite attraction—when the heat pooled at their toes, licked its way up their ankles. Before they knew it, their entire bodies were consumed in heat, reddening their cheeks like a sunburn in the middle of Chicago’s burning summer.
It clicked just a little too late that they had been dosed, and the rage set in before common sense. Something erupted in the crowd, volcanic and angry, and the fights broke out like they were on a schedule. It was chaos; chaos that couldn’t be contained by the police guards eyeing the perimeter to prevent an event like last time. Civilians and family members alike, everyone present, began to lose their grip on reality. Attachments were lost in the wildfire of it all, and those who looked like friends morphed into something to be feared.
The O’Shea creation, BUA, and its side effects come from equal parts LSD, methamphetamines, and cocaine, all without the floating euphoria of feeling high. It’s very capable of killing, even in small doses, and even with the likelihood that you’ll survive, the drug leaves its traces on your brain for weeks after ingestion. BUA comes in all forms, and it can be injected, snorted, and smoked, depending on the vehicle of delivery. BUA is incredibly addictive, and it’s hard enough to get a hold of that anyone who ingests the drug will deal with the aftermath of withdrawals.
Your character, for the time being, is under the influence of BUA, meaning they may act out of character and violent toward their surroundings. That includes friends, enemies, and strangers.
Part II will run from March 20th through March 23rd. For this event, we’ll be throwing characters into groups, so they may interact with whoever they’re teamed up with. You can find all of your assigned groups below. If your character is not included, please feel free to reach out to the admins, and we’ll find a place for your muse. Also please note that your character could have been drugged by drinking any drink or eating any food.
