Summary:

A man condemned to suffer for his sins in the war, who had lost himself to climb the ladder to the very top, becomes what he is inside. The only way to right what has been wronged is if he learns to care of another person, and protect them at the cost of everything he has. To let go of his Pride, his Wrath, and his Greed in order to care for another human. For that is all they really are. Tiny, insignificant humans.

Prologue is up! Next one should be up soon.

God Uh. I dunno where to start?Roy is def that “you said you dont need help so, fine, you dont need help. but I’m still putting these here and within reach anyway because I want to put them there not because you might need help.” Kind of like parent. He’s like depending on the situation a jerk about it, but sometimes he can play it off as really really sincere.He definitely went full Pops on Alphonse when he was recovering. Like Offering to help him walk, and listening to him and talking him through how overwhelming everything could be- this is a thing he did lowkey. Like Al thought it was a dream the first few times.

If/When he has or adopts his own younger kids after Ed and Al move off (which by the way he totally does the monthly letters like “Havent heard from you, do you not even have time for your Pops Old Superior?” ). Anyway after he adopts his own younger kids or has his own with his partner he does Hughes proud. 

PapaRoy buys a camera on the way to meet his kid for the first time, and hes crying so he refuses to get in the photo until he stops, he snaps so many because it just takes him so long. Hed be such a proud dad, but the fact he can’t share it with his friend hurts so much. He takes copies of the most important photos to Gracia and Elisia, and to Hughes’ grave too.

OH. Hes also SUUUPER adamant about not being called “father”- hes def a Pops/Dad/Papa guy. I mean after the Promised Day alone I wouldn’t blame him, but also ‘cause of a “thanks pops” in passing/in jest from the elrics, and again- because of their father being a rough subject he kinda was like- I will be better. (dudes got a thing about being better and taking responsibility yknow.)

If you wanna ask any more go for it! I just kinda went with the first ones I thought of and didnt want to overload anyone on it!

I literally just looked up a parental Roy mustang tag on ao3 and I got a bunch. I recommend that more than searching for the characters because you KNOW what’s going to show up. I’ll check again and could probs recommend some if I go through my reading history.

Hey, thank you so much! That post is reaaally old, that was probably way before I realized that ao3 is a thing and definitely long before I started to actually browse it!

Also, I’m kiiinda out of touch with the fandom tbh :’) I’m just lurking in the shadows... “Edward somehow managed to get the drunk Flame Alchemist to their hotel room, dropping the man on the plain brown couch and rubbing his flesh shoulder, bruised slightly where the man hit his shoulder with his knuckles while flailing around laughing his ass off about some joke he’d come up with. Ed wasn’t stupid, he knew he definitely shouldn’t be trusted with taking care of someone, but again, he somehow managed to become the most responsible and trustworthy person in the vicinity, and because literally no one else who knew the Colonel was at his disposal, he found himself tasked with an unbelievable, stupid, baffling task of having to take care of him.”

Throwing this out there then hiding under my covers

So I’ve never posted my writing before, but there’s a first time for everything. I was feeling a little melancholic today, and this kind of came out. It’s short, less than 200 words, but we all have to start somewhere. Anyway, this is for all you fans of the original FMA anime.

…Anyone want to title it for me? Mine always sound pretentious.

Drabble Thing (180 words)

Every time Ed gets in the car, he remembers. With Alphonsʼs tuberculosis, it makes more sense for him to drive.

But itʼs painful.

Every time he gets behind the wheel, he canʼt help but think of home.

Driving shouldnʼt be quiet. Driving should be filled with Hughesʼs gentle encouragements or the Colonelʼs amused taunts, not the quiet of a sleeping passenger. He should be spending just as much time yelling about his height as he does paying attention to the road.

Heʼs a good driver, though. Eighteen now, he can appreciate Colonel Bastardʼs (because heʼll always be Colonel Bastard, even though heʼs probably a General now) irritating tutelage. He may have been annoying beyond belief, but he still taught Ed how to drive.

The feeling will be gone as soon as Ed gets out of the car, as he returns to life here, in Germany. But the next time he gets behind the wheel, it will be there, pulling him back into a place where he felt, for once in his life, like he had a father.

…Until the short jokes started.
