Mission of Mercy: Branyrd the Angel Series Book 2 is now here!
I am excited to announce that my newest book in the Branyrd the Angel Series, Mission of Mercy, is now on Amazon as an e-book and soon as a paperback. It has been a joy to work with this character and a true labor of love. Sorry, but I just checked online to list the link here but it is not up yet in spite of what Amazon told me earlier. Keep a watch, both formats should be up soon. Thank you…

Okay, well, I was planning to build up some hype, but
🦇🎃HAPPY HALLOWEEN🎃🦇
Lorehaven Bound: A Hunger Pangs Short is now available on Amazon.
A train ride through the Nevrondian countryside should be a calming proposition, but for Ursula, it isn't. Her thoughts swirl, fixated on one thing... make that two things. Specifically Nathan Northland and Vlad Blutstein. It's not just because they are both breath-stealingly attractive—although to be fair, that doesn't hurt. It's because they surprised her, and Ursula is very rarely surprised.
Even more confounding is her reaction to them, particularly the vampire, Vlad. Just what is she supposed to do about these... feelings?
All Ursula knows is that she doesn't have time for emotions right now. Not when the fate of the world is at stake. She can deal with this later. First, she's got to figure out what story she's going to tell the sure-to-be-furious Alfbern. Then, she needs to catch up on all the sleep she missed before hitting the road again. Surely, she can do those things while being Lorehaven Bound.
*
This story is a 10,000-word character study/missing moment that takes place immediately after Hunger Pangs: True Love Bites. You will want to read that first if you don't want to be spoiled for the events in that book!

💖 Available now on Amazon
💖 Apple, Kobo, Smashwords, and more... (links still populating.)
💖Payhip - my personal storefront 💖
Happy reading!
Okay, thanks, love you all, bye.

EVOCATION COVER REVEAL
I'm thrilled to unveil the cover for EVOCATION, book one in my urban fantasy romance series. Evocation kicks off the Summoner's Circle series, and follows David, a psychic medium and hotshot lawyer, who must team up with his sorcerer ex-boyfriend and the ex's witch wife to break a family curse. Forced proximity, magic lessons, and polyamory ensure, all against the moody backdrop of Boston.
I'm absolutely breathless with what a phenomenal job artist Eleonor Piteira and designer Alice Coleman have done bringing David to life, and I'm indebted to the entire Angry Robot crew for all they do for me.
The day David Aristarkhov’s occultist father died, he bought himself an Audi, drank every drop of liquor in the house, and abandoned his life as a teen psychic prodigy. Now pushing thirty, David is a Boston attorney, moonlighting as a medium for a secret society.
But when the Devil comes to collect on a deal David’s ancestor made, he reluctantly reaches out to his ex-boyfriend Rhys for help. However, to get to Rhys, David will have to befriend Moira, Rhys’s wife. The trio gets a little too close for comfort as they combine their powers to unravel the century-old curse, and if they don’t break the curse by David’s thirtieth birthday, he won’t live long enough for everyone to figure out their feelings for each other.
EVOCATION hits shelves in May of 2024, so there's still time to preorder from any of your favorite retailers! You can also add the book to Goodreads, or post about it on socials using the hashtag #manifestingevocation.

A long time ago i read an interview in which Patricia Briggs answered a question from the interviewer about Mercy's lack of female friends.
''The men in her life tend to be stable'' is bullshit. C'mon.
She gets groomed by Samuel. She gets raped by Tim. Adam declared her his mate in front of his pack without her knowing or even agreeing. Bran semi kicked her out of Aspen Creek as a teenager.
It's just another case of women holding other women to a different standard.
In hignsight this peice of infomation about her sisters and her college friend (i'm assuming Char?) is funny.
14 books in and Mercy's half sisters whom she's supposedly very close to, only appear in River Marked for a brief while and they never get mentioned again. No appearances. No sisterly phone calls. Nothing.
Apparently she's 'very tight' with her college roommate Char which is funny because we never see her at all. She didn't attend Mercy's wedding. There's no girl to girl chit chat over the phone or text. Nothing.
😂🤨😐 I don't want to be harsh or mean but i have to be honest.
I belive this interview was in 2014? Here is the link for the full interview:

Nebulous (Chapter Seven)
Nagode mentally rehearsed what he would say to his mom while the phone rang.
“Hello?” His mom said in Ujamaan.
“Hey, how are you?”
“I’m fine, but I haven’t heard from you in over a week. What have you been up to?”
Nagode looked at the refined office space around him, the Gladiators’ file was still displayed on the television screen. The Paratroopers and Liu had left the briefing room to give him some space.
“I’m okay,” he said. “Great, actually. I got a new job.”
“What? That’s amazing, congratulations! What is it?”
“It’s a government job,” Nagode replied, feeding her the lie Liu had concocted for him. “I’m going to work in the defense department. I can’t go into detail for national security reasons, but the money’s good. I’m excited.”
“Why am I just now finding out about this? I’m texting your father right now, and I have to tell your brother and sister.”
“I—I wasn’t sure if I had the job until today.”
“Well, I’m glad to hear it. No more Nullifier.”
“No more nullifier,” he echoed, the words put a small grin on his face, but it quickly faded. He hated lying to her about this.
Liu cracked the door open a bit, checking to see if Nagode was still on the phone.
Nagode mouthed that he was almost done.
“I want to catch up with you more, but I have some work to finish first.”
“I won’t keep you, but remember to call me, okay?”
“Okay.”
“Oh, and I’ll have to stop by your apartment to visit sometime soon.”
“What?” Nagode asked.
“Are you kidding me? It’s been too long since we last saw you. Yes, we’ll have to come by so we can all go out and celebrate your new job.”
Nagode groaned internally, wondering how that was going to work when his time was consumed being a Paratrooper.
“Okay,” he agreed, sighing. “This week is busy, but we’ll get together soon.”
“Perfect. Good luck with your new job. I love you.”
“Love you too, mom,” Nagode said, then he hung up.
He thought back to what Annihilation had said about his telepathy.
“Jonah,” Nagode reached out.
“What the fuck? What is this?”
Nagode imagined how this must feel for him. The voices in his head would feel real.
“Jonah, it’s me, Nagode.”
“Nagode? How is this possible? This can’t be real. My parents were right, the weed must have made me crazy.”
“No, it’s really me.
“Prove it.”
Nagode thought about how to do that for a moment, then an idea came to him.
“We went to a club freshman year and these wannabe hood douches made a big deal out of something stupid, so you matched their energy, and then you ran for your life when they came over to confront you. Everyone laughed.”
“Too far, dude, but I get the picture. Damn, so you really can do mind tricks.”
“Yeah. I’m still figuring it out, and that’s actually part of the reason why I reached out to you. I just wanted to give you a heads-up that my parents might be stopping by the apartment at some point soon, so just make sure it looks presentable.”
“What? When?”
“I don’t know, I still haven’t figured out an exact time yet, which leads me to my next point. I’m gonna keep my lease for now, but I won’t be around the apartment nearly as much.”
“Why?” Jonah asked.
“I’m finally quitting the Nullifier, I got a new job and they want to celebrate.”
“Congrats, man!”
“Thanks. I’m gonna tell you all about it, but it’s a long story. I’ll see you soon, okay?”
“Sounds good, just one final piece of advice on your mind trick thing.”
“What’s that?”
“Maybe just text instead? You know, I could be driving or taking a shit or—”
“Okay, I get the picture. Noted”
“Alright then, peace.”
“Peace.”
…
“His name is Doctor Isaac Magani.” Liu said. “He’s one of the Gladiator Program’s top scientists, but unbeknownst to them, he’s also our inside man. He defected a year ago and he’s been feeding us important information on the program ever since, fighting them from the inside. However, we’ve never been 100% sure we’re getting the full picture. The trouble with using traitors is that you invite them to stab you in the back, but now we have you and we can finally put our fears to rest.”
“What do you want me to do?” Nagode asked.
“We’ll ask him a series of questions while you secretly observe him. You’ll read his mind each time he hears a question, and then we’ll get to know his honest answers. We’re relying on his intel for that job Masquerade mentioned earlier.”
They were walking through the fifth floor of the DPA headquarters, another biometric scanner granted Liu access through the door they arrived at.
“I guess that makes sense,” Nagode said, entering the room.
“Good because we’re about to get started.”
They sat in front of the one-way mirror, they were situated in a comfortable office space. On the other side of the glass, an older, dark skinned man dressed in business casual clothes sat in a room that resembled the one the DPA had kept Nagode in when they first brought him here. It was Dr. Magani. He looked exhausted and he was currently thinking about what he would eat when he got out of this place.
“What year were you born?” Liu asked through a microphone, initiating the interrogation.
“1974,” Nagode heard the man’s thought.
Dr. Magani repeated the same number aloud.
Liu looked at Nagode for confirmation. He nodded.
They continued with a few more normal, preliminary questions before Dr. Emeagwali grew frustrated.
“What is the meaning of this?” He demanded. “I’ve been nothing but helpful to you people. We don’t have much time, the project is getting closer to launching in Corinthia with each passing day and Indira’s getting suspicious. She doesn’t trust me, she knows something’s up, I can feel it.”
Nagode listened to his thoughts. He wasn’t lying, he seemed truly afraid of whoever this “Indira” person was.
“He’s telling the truth,” Nagode said.
Liu didn’t respond, he spoke into the microphone again.
“We’re aware of the urgency, we know what we’re doing. Just answer a few more of our questions and you can go.”
“Ok,” Dr. Magani agreed.
“Repeat the intel you gave us a few days back.”
“Indira won’t be at the headquarters next Friday, neither will her usual security detail. From sunup to sundown on that day, our research will be at its most unguarded. With the right team, you could take it right from under their noses and leave them none the wiser. This is your best chance to access that information, you won’t get another opportunity like this again.”
Liu looked at Nagode again. All the words seemed earnest. He’d never used his powers to detect a lie before, but he was fairly certain he’d be able to. When he read people’s minds, their immediate thoughts poured out like a stream of consciousness. A liar would need to know what was going on to deceive him, and by that point he would be unable to read their thoughts anyway.
Dr. Magani produced a thumb drive from his pocket. He held it up toward the glass.
“I’ve recreated the schematics of our floor plan. If you give me access to a computer, we can go over entrance and exit strategies.”
The doctor’s thoughts corresponded with his words.
“He’s still telling the truth,” Nagode said.
“Okay then,” Liu muttered to Nagode. “Just one last question.”
“Why did you decide to betray your own project?”
A flurry of thoughts raced through the doctor’s mind as he listened to the question. Nagode’s telepathy had never given him this kind of sensation before. He could feel the doctor’s anguish, he bore his guilt as if it were his own. An image flashed through his mind like a fleeting memory, only it didn’t belong to him, it belonged to Dr. Magani. It was an image of a man’s body being remolded, Nagode could tell that the pain was excruciating from the way he screamed. Dr. Magani just stood there, listening to the crack of the man's bones, he watched new skin grow over exposed patches of muscle as the body grew greater in mass until the man was at least a foot taller. Another image flashed in rapid succession. It was the same man being burned alive, stabbed, shot, drowned, electrocuted, microwaved. He survived all of it, nothing could kill this behemoth. Nagode closed his eyes, attempting to block out the thoughts, the pain behind them was too vivid, too palpable. He had trouble discerning his own feelings from the doctor’s.
Dr. Magani took a deep breath.
“Because I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t,” he finally answered.
“It’s true,” Nagode whispered, opening his eyes.
For a moment, Nagode thought his mind was playing tricks on him, but when he turned to his right he found himself facing Masquerade.
He jumped back immediately, knocking over his chair.
“You’ve got to stop doing that!”
Masquerade smirked but didn’t respond, then she turned to Liu.
“His powers seem to be working. Dr. Magani never lied.”
“Good.”
“You knew she was here the whole time?” Nagode asked Liu.
“What?” Masquerade asked. “Did you think you were the only human lie detector?”
“Um, yeah—kinda.”
“We needed to be certain your powers were working properly,” Liu interjected. “Maya’s clairvoyance allows her to detect the subtle changes in human behavior that correspond with deception, but you actually know what people are thinking, that grants us all kinds of insights no lie detector could. If you knew she was here, it could’ve affected your answers. I needed to cross-reference your capabilities without arousing your suspicions.”
Liu brought Dr. Magani out of the observation room and introduced him to Nagode, it was obvious that he had already met Masquerade. A DPA agent brought a laptop into the room and they hooked the thumb drive up to it. The doctor, Liu, and Masquerade deliberated over the best infiltration method while Nagode sat back and watched them go to work, feeling pretty useless.
Something bugged him the whole time the three of them talked amongst each other.
“I don’t understand,” he spoke up for the first time in a while. “If Masquerade can turn invisible, then what do you need me for? She can already get into the building undetected by herself.”
“Normally, you would be correct,” Masquerade said. “But this building is different.”
“We have a state-of-the-art security system,” Dr. Magani explained. “It’s almost as good as the DPA’s. No one gets in or out of any room without inputting an acceptable fingerprint scan. She would be undetected when she got there, but she wouldn’t be able to do anything.”
“Unless…” Masquerade said.
“Unless she had a way to bypass the mechanism,” Dr. Magani said, completing the sentence. “If there was a way to make the doors unlock like they would if someone had input an acceptable fingerprint, then she could get in and out without any trouble.”
“And that’s where you come in,” Liu said.
“But I don’t know how to do any of that.”
“We know,” Masquerade said. “That’s what your training is for. It would’ve been rough even before this new deadline came up, but now it’s going to be brutal.”
Liu pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Maya,” he said. “Some truths are better left unspoken.”
She shrugged.
“But she’s right,” he continued. “You’re really in for it now, Nagode. We’ve got no time to waste. Let’s get started.”

Thanks to the publisher for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review
✩⚔️🦋Review:
This book took the world by storm and rightfully so!
“Quicksilver” follows Saeris Fane, a metalworker and thief, after she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms with the. Strange powers she possesses and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares…but it turns out they’re real, and Saeris mistakenly binds herself to Kingfisher, a handsome Fae warrior. He has nefarious agendas of his own, but he’s the only way Saris is going to make it home alive.
If you’re looking for an addicting enemies-to-lovers romance set against the backdrop of a centuries-long conflict in a dangerous fae realm, this one has your name on it! The very first chapter put me in a chokehold and did not let up until I found myself at the very end!
Hart’s immersive world is dangerously captivating. She does a wonderful job distinguishing the differences between each of the Fae kingdoms and the regions they are located in. She also takes her time in revealing bits and pieces about the magic they possess and the gods that rule over them as both become more relevant to the plot. While the lore did bog me down at times, it is necessary in paving the way for the books to come.
The friction that builds between Saeris and Kingfisher is insane!! I was living for their dynamic! As crazy as it sounds, every fight they picked kept me coming back for more. Watching their animosity slowly give way to an intense, all-consuming love was way beyond satisfying.
I really enjoyed Saeris’ character. In a world of temperamental Fae, she doesn’t let her humanness damper her tenacious, strong-willed personality. She isn’t a skilled warrior by any means, but never shies away from a fight when the lives of those she cares about are in peril. It was fun to read from the perspective of a novice in combat and magic for a change.
Fair warning, the end of this book is absolutely criminal! I’m excited to see how things play out in the next one!

book recs? My fav books are trc, aftg, soc, shadowhunters/riordanverse etc and the likes (so basically the most basic literature taste known to man) thanks!
well I enjoy all of those and trc is my fav series so will give you a couple of my main fantasy recs along those lines or not dissimilar and throw in one of my fav thrillers which is very gay and explores dark themes for aftg adjacent rep, and then another suspense book i love. I sort of went with books i could draw some type of lines of comparison to at least one of the books you mentioned.
•The Diviners series by Libba Bray — this is my go to ya fantasy rec these days, it’s historical urban fantasy with some horror and mystery elements. It’s set in 1920’s New York, book one opens focusing mainly on Evie and a specific case of a ghost serial killer but introduces other chars, after the first book it becomes more about an ensemble cast of Diviners who have different supernatural powers and their dynamics, also the main antagonist is bigotry and hate which I’m aware is a concept that can be done poorly in fantasy and I won’t pretend every beat of it is flawless but it is my favorite example of a fantasy series take on that concept that I’ve read. More importantly stunning character work I especially adore the female chars among the diviners Evie Theta and Ling, Ling is one of the most special characters ever and these books should be worth reading because of her INTP canon ace lesbian with autistic swag realness alone.
I definitely would recommend it to TID/TLH fans for the historical setting and atmosphere as well as some of the playing with man vs machine + to TRC/TDT fans for the characterization and also the second book is largely about Henry and Ling learning about their dream powers and developing a friendship through this and also Ling has a narrative foil in dreamspace she’s gay with just think some of those idea would resonate with trcers + to SoC fans for the ensemble dynamics.
•The Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba Bray
This is one I used to describe to people as The Gangsey all girls au set in Victorian London and that’s not fully accurate but it works enough to be a pitch, but basically it’s about this group of four girls who go to a boarding school together and discover a sort of parallel world where they can bee free and realize their ambitions detached from society, but in the real world they’ve awakened horrors they must deal with too. I need to reread this one but it was deeply formative, if you love messy complicated female friendship dynamics and paranormal/mystical plots that are just creepy enough this is for you. Also my favorite character in it is a gay blonde mean girl character who is ambitious and wants autonomy above all else but does also love her friends fiercely Felicity Worthington you will always be famous <3 if you enjoy Jessamine Lovelace and Grace Blackthorn from TSC she has strong parallels to both those chars imo and is better written/handled arc wise. But I will tell you that the other wlw char in the book who is her love interest dies there is byg, just so you no one gets mad at me for that. But still very worth the read imo.
•The Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor
this series is a mix of urban fantasy and high fantasy, the first book is set mainly in Prague but large parts of the other books take place in a fantasy world called Eretz so there is a fun parallel worlds element. But it’s about Karou who is one of theee protagonists of the 2010s yet got paid dust justice for my girl, and she’s an art student in Prague who was raised by a family of monsters (chimeara), her surrogate father is Brimstone and he has a business of selling wishes for teeth that Karou sometimes helps with but is frustrated that she isn’t allowed to know why or what they’re for. Karou’s dynamics with the chimearas and with her best friends Zuzana who is also a wonderful character and inspo for my letterboxd url rabidfairy09, are really lovely and the prose is so beautiful… but the story really takes off when the love interest Akiva is introduced I won’t go into details about that because spoilers, but they have one of my absolute favorite romances in the genre that does subvert and play with those paranormal forbidden star crossed romance tropes in ways I think are quite fascinating. Books 2 and 3 are more complicated to describe there is an essential conflict between chimeras or devils vs angels in this world so there’s your modern tsc connection, and very lyrical prose although I find Lainis even lusher and more elegant than trc prose.
• Sawkill Girls by Clara Legrand
Ya horror book that I remember reading over the summer in high school and I think it’s a good summer read tonally, part of the plot is one of those stranded on an island survival stories but it’s less intense than like Yellowjackets (no cannibalism), I don’t actually have much to sell about the plot I just enjoyed the vibes and also there are lesbians one of whom is an ambitious driven abuse survivor who had an arc I remember really liking.
•Wild Beauty by Anna-Marie Mclemore I actually really love all the books by her I’ve read but I think this is a great one to start with. Basically there are multiple generations of women who are all witches living together (300 fox way vibes), and Estella has several cousins and she and them are all in love with the same woman who is the daughter of the man who owns the estate, and there’s a thing where boys and this family keep disappearing and then one of them shows up and resulting drama. The main romance is m/f but like all the female chars being bi, it is a good romance from my memory but the main event is the familial dynamics, the main character Estella’s arc around dealing with her internalized self hatred and a lot of anti colonial themes those anti colonial themes and themes of multigenerational trauma are very relevant in all the Mclemore I’ve read so yes, very much would read her starting with this book. Also very gorgeous prose as is in all her magical realism stuff.
•this one is already quite popular on tumblr so you may have read it but The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black, if you enjoy the cutthroat gang in SoC and that high fantasy world I think you would enjoy it I also get some Zoya vibes as well as Kaz vibes from Jude the main heroine. Won’t bother with detailed description because again, very popular books.
•Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire
basically a series of portal fantasies or fairytales for adults, they are all novellas and it’s an ongoing series following several different chars not all of whom appear in each book. But I enjoy them and I think if you like Riordanverse this is like an adult fantasy take on similar concepts in a way, even though it’s not directly mythology based.
•The Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir
This is the other tumblr popular series on the list and has a good amount of overlap with trc/aftg/soc fans so will only give the brief pitch that it’s adult sci fantasy and about lesbian necromancers in space. You will be very confused at least some of the time but it is worth it, trust me.
•Black Iris by Leah Raeder
new adult psychological thriller with a sapphic romance that slaps so hard. Delaney Keatings is one of my favorite unreliable narrators and also just an A+ character, there’s not a lot I can say about the actual plot because a lot of it is psychological but will give one other plot hint: vigilantes. Definitely look up trigger warnings before reading this there’s a lot about homophobia and also references to sexual violence, drug use a lot more it’s very in line with Aftg in terms of like, grittiness in that regard. Do highly recommend.
•Dare Me by Megan Abbott
like with Mclemore I love this author in general and would recommend everything I’ve read by her but this was my first book of hers so it’s a good introduction, and also a lot of it is about girls on a cheer team having homoerotic psychosexual dynamics as well as the murder, so it’s also in line with aftg thematically in that way. gay sports media.
There are a lot of others but I don’t want to make this list ridiculously long so… here are some recs <3 thank you so much anon for letting me ramble and I hope you like them!
#asks#anons#book recs#s speaks#fantasy recs#suspense recs#some others that came to mind but it would get too long if I wrote them out too: Deathless by Catherynne M Valente. Monsters of Verity by#Victoria Schwab. The Fever by Megan Abbott. Blanca & Roja by Anna-Marie Mclemore.#The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairlyand in a Ship of Her Own Making is a charming middle grade book I read recently think rr fans would enjo#The Lynburn Legacy + The Demon’s Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan are quite fun in paranormal category#oh and Gail Carriger’s The Parasol Protecturate + Finishing School series are also some I generally rec for tid fans#Certain Dark Things by Silvia Moreno Garcia is such a good urban fantasy
