Honestly, the thing that makes the hc of c!Dream being like a regular human, like you're most average 23 y/o, so damn appealing to me is the fact how he managed to make himself so much larger than life and the universe, so much so that no matter how bad of a state he's in, people still fear for their life. Yet he's still constantly talked over, not listened to, tortured and made into something he's not. Like, c!Dream was already considered very powerful before the book, before the self-made immortality, before the prison. He managed to make himself loom so large with simply his skill, words and mind, rewriting the game and outsmarting everyone. The power from the book was just an addition. Yet in making himself so great, in being made into either a tyrannical monster or an all-powerful god, everyone - he himself included - forgot his just some guy. Like this entire time, he's just some guy with a bright mind and sick skills who wanted nothing more than for people to stop being so shit and just get along. Like he was made into sth so powerful, large and feared, yet at the same time something small, ugly and pathetic - dirt. And I also think that's what makes c!rivals so great is because while I think Techno might have also had an impression of Dream being this godlike being to at least some dagree, he saw him for what he was - a bright and skilled young man that the world around them had done, so, so dirty. So he makes him laugh. So he offers him a place to stay. So he walks into a trap, knowing it's a trap, and then goes back and saves him. So they never betray each other.

i don't hate hybrid headcanons and sometimes i like to play with them (cat & sheep are my favorite), but in my heart of hearts, cdream is just a young man. i love the idea of other people (including ctechno, at first) assuming that he's more than that when he's hiding behind the mask, but he's not. he's just some kid, like any other.

That scene in s9 is probably one of my favorite Jay moments because of how well it shows why Wu chose him and what his role is in the team. Being the out-of-the-box thinker, the dreamer. Especially because of how it sets him apart from the rest, like Zane, Cole or Kai, whose purposes are to protect others while Jay inspires people (s6 and s12)

I think this is one of my favorite lines from the Wraith route because of (imo) how much the meaning changes depending on if you got there via Spectre or Nightmare. For Spectre, it honestly strikes me as a genuine question. Why are you doing this to her? If you're on the Spectre route, you presumably already know the Narrator can't really be trusted, since you had to reject his reward to get here. What are you hoping to gain from continuing to hurt her? For Nightmare, it honestly just makes me sad. As the Shifting Mound describes her, "She desires only companionship, but the only thing she knows is how to hurt." This line feels like a plea from someone who genuinely doesn't understand why you keep rejecting her. She wants to be with you, but she just can't understand how to do that in a way which doesn't hurt you.

a humans lifespan is entirely too short in Phil's mind: dream is a baby now, and he'll be a baby when his lifespan passes. he'll never have the chance to age the way phil has. he won't learn the same lessons. he just doesn't have the time.

I’m not sure? Too young I suppose. I think he’d view Dream (outside of the DSMP lore) like he views Tommy and Wilbur? He’s part of their little group as far as it goes - and he’ll say so just to fluster Techno.

He’s much much older than Techno and is also functionally immortal because of Lady Death so people must look like sparks to him. Bright and beautiful and gone too soon.

Sometimes I think about Urianger's role in and feelings on the Thancred-Ryne dynamic and I think watching it kills him a bit inside. For several reasons.

Like, to begin with there's the guilt he's been carrying with him since he ushered Minfilia to the first, how he effectively killed the person Thancred cared about the most in the world and who's "death" ended up causing Ryne's entire Situation. He looks at what's happening between them and can only think "I caused this" even though that's not really true. No one person is responsible for this outcome, it's a culmination of several circumstances and the consequences of them. Logically, Urianger knows this. But it doesn't matter, because his guilt is overpowering his logic.

And also, like. What Thancred is doing here, the way he's knowingly letting Ryne be and stay hurt because he literally cannot bring himself to tell her his feelings, is the exact same mistake Urianger made with Moenbryda. Of course, the circumstances are vastly different, and the potential consequences to Thancred telling Ryne the wrong things or her misinterperating it is far greater (being a matter of literal life or death), it's still the same sort of paralysis they are trapped in.

And he knows it. He sees it. But he can't say or do anything about it, he doesn't have the right to. He acknowledges the mistake, but he hasn't really improved upon it yet. He still doesn't voice his thoughts and feelings as he should. He's also non-confrontational by nature, he doesn't argue or try to change peoples minds, he probably doesn't think he has any place to.

So, he tries to help in what little ways he can. Because he doesn't want it to become Monebryda again, he doesn't want to know he stole not one but two people from Thancred. So he does what he can. He tells Ryne little tidbits about Thancred, things that help her understand him but are safe to share. Nothing too deep, nothing too personal. Just small things, things that are purely factual, because he can't afford to give her a false image of who Thancred is. He teacher her fun and interesting things, because Thancred isn't in the mindset to provide her with non-essential skills.

I like to think Urianger has brought it up with Thancred at least once, during one of his stays. But nothing would've come of it. Not really. Unlike Y'shtola, Urianger isn't pushy, he'll bring it up once or twice and when he sees this won't go anywhere, he gives up. He wants to help, but he knows that persistance only does do much, and he is not the person who has the resiliance needed to push and push until Thancred finally budges (because he won't budge, it won't help anything but to sour things further by adding aditional stress to an already strained dynamic).

And like. Urianger gets it. He gets it because he's been the same way- not saying what he should to someone he loves more than anything else because she was meant to figure her life out herself, and 'steering' her in any direction by telling her his feelings (regardless of if the 'steering' is intention or not) will go against that. He gets it. He gets it and it's all the more painful for it. He knows it can't just be fixed by acknowledging it or with encouragement, something needs to happen to break the stasis.

I think this is probably why he stayed behind while they went off to Nabaath Areng. This is the very last chance they have to say what they want to, and he can't afford to be the anchor anymore. This is about them, not him, he can't let their resolution be buffed by his presence, so he stays behind. Which was probably for the best. Ryne got nervous when Urianger said he's staying behind, probably not too excited about being alone with Thancred (well, not alone, but WoL doesn't count) so soon after she had ran away crying. But she needs to be nervous. For anything positive to come out of this Thancred and Ryne both can't afford to be too relaxed. As sad as it is, the stress is necessary for anything to happen. He knows it. Does he like it? Absolutely not, but nor does he like his other plots. At least no one dies this time if it goes right.

It's hard to dig graves in frozen ground.

Most of the dogs who died under Technoblade and Philza's care were buried somewhere in the forest that surrounded their home. It was a forest She created, after all, so it felt right to give both body and soul back to Her. Whether they died in battle, in birth, or in old age, they lay beside each other in the frozen, arctic ground.

Technoblade was steeping his tea when he noticed that Dream was standing by the graves, near a freshly unearthed patch of dirt.

That morning, they had to bury one of their senior dogs. An older female, small in comparison to her peers, but quick and powerful in her youth. Each night, she slept at the fireplace and let the warmth settle the ache in her hips. That morning, she didn't wake. Philza found her body in the early hours of the day-- the crows had laid a few gifts on her back. Pinecones, leaves, and bits of metal. Technoblade dug the grave later, fighting past layers of ice and snow. Dream was quiet.

Leaving his tea on the counter, Technoblade went outside to join him. He walked behind him, wordlessly, and paused.

"Why do dogs die so... so quick?" Dream asked. His voice was strong and clear. He wasn't crying.

"Well, to Moxie's credit," Techno replied, "she lived about 10 years. Give or take a few months. That's pretty long for a wardog."

"No, that's-- I'm--" Frustrated, Dream spun to face him before taking a deep breath and casting his eyes towards the grave again. "I'm 23," he said, "10 years isn't long."

Technoblade was 50 when he escaped the ring, and he didn't heal until he was 70. He spent 20 long years sobbing into Philza's neck and re-training his exhausted muscles. Re-training his instincts. Re-training his mind. Now, Dream stood before him with bandages stretched across all four limbs, and Techno worried that he wouldn't have time to heal from this.

"23 years isn't long, either," Techno said. "Or 40, frankly. Or 100. You should try askin' Philza what qualifies as 'a long time,' an' he'll give you some stupid number like 5000." He stepped forward. "10 years was a long time for Moxie. She was hurtin'."

Dream nodded, his lips quaking.

"And 1 year was a long time for you," Techno added.

Dream crossed his arms across his torso, fighting the cold. He was much thinner than he used to be. "True," he admitted.

"And ten minutes is a long time for my tea to still be steepin'. Let's get inside."

When Vegapunk mentioned the Pirate King's crew knowing the truth the whole time, I hoped we would see Rayleigh,

and we did!!

but didn't expect him to be such a mess - even Shakky saying he usually doesn't get this wasted, it's interesting. When we saw him every time before, he was very put together and calm.

It must be painful and nostalgic to hear Vegapunk talking about the past, their crew and Roger, and then Rayleogh saying (similary to what Roger said at his execution which Rayleigh said he couldn't stand to attend), that the new generation has to seek out the adventures and the truth for themselves - repeating his words.

If I had a penny for every time the second case of an ace attorney game had the murderer turn out to be a nurse who shot their former boss over a medical malpractice incident from a while back and framed a teenager from a well-known/infamous family for it, and the case also introduced a german prosecutor who was/is a teen prodigy and wants take on the defense attorney that took down their brother, I'd have two pennies, which isn't a lot but it's weird it all happened twice
