Georgia Travel Blog
(September 5-8,2021)
We cross the border into Georgia from Armenia. We travelled there in four hours. Although the government forbade it, we were unable to snap pictures of the beautiful mountain scenery along the route. An immigration office at the border will inspect all of our belongings and documentation. Fortunately, it has already declared that Filipinos having residence visas for the UAE can visit the nation using an E-visa. They requested the Negative PCR test, which we had completed in Armenia before our trip because we were travelling during COVID-19.
Additionally, they needed to reside in the UAE for at least six months before entering the nation. We took our holiday in the Philippines in December 2020 and returned to the United Arab Emirates on January 23, 2021. Even though it has been eight months, they took the time to thoroughly examine our admission and departure stamps from the UAE. (Just kidding, but they don't really trust us anyhow.) We arrived at the Grand Palace Hotel about 4 p.m. We simply take a little nap and unpack the clothes we will need for the next several days. The hotel was decent, but what made it great was that it was close to Europe Square, which has lots of eateries and tourist attractions.
Tumblr media
By 5 PM, it was becoming dark outside, so we made the decision to have supper and take a leisurely stroll around Europe Square.
Day 1: Europe Square
-Metal Tree Artwork
- Peace Bridge
-Hot Air Balloon - We each paid 50 gel, and although though it only takes a few minutes, you will get a 360-degree view of Tbilisi. All in all, it was well worth the less expensive price. At least you ought to give it a go.
Tumblr media
Day 2: Kazbegi
We got up early on our second day because the hotel provides a complimentary breakfast for us. We changed and got ready for our excursion after BF. It was really chilly, and as we didn't realise that our trip would be taking place in a high-range or mountainous location, we didn't pack any coats. Fortunately, we made a detour at the Zhinvali Reservoir, where shawls and other souvenirs were widely available. However, the expense was high. We were forced to get one since, eventually, the linen was still worthwhile. Before we forget, we also made the decision to purchase some mementos.
Note: Book Breakfast in the hotel (it will save you more) and bring jackets on winter !!
-Jinvali Lake
-Aragvi River
-Ananuri Fortress
-Gudauri View Point - From here, you may choose to attempt paragliding and horseback riding, among other things. We were going to attempt paragliding, but I don't have enough cash, and I left my wallet and credit card in the hotel. (We were upset not to be able to attempt the same as we are very into extreme fun.)
Note 2: Never leave your wallet or cards, you’ll never know when you needed it the most
- Russia Georgia Friendship Monument
We had a magnificent lunch at Gudauri, Dushet'Is Raioni; it was a buffet, so we were able to eat a lot, especially because we would be returning home late. Our co-travelers who were lucky enough to experience paragliding took up a significant portion of our tour time. So, when we arrived at Gergeti Trinity Church, we could only see fogs. So, even if we wanted to amuse ourselves, there isn't much to see up there but the church.
Tumblr media
It was very dark on the trip home, and some roads were small and rainy, so the driver drove carefully. We arrived at the hotel at 9 p.m. and opted not to have supper, preferring to sleep and recover.
Day 3: Kakheti and Badiauri - Morning
- Badiauri , We witnessed traditional bread production and sampled their native bread, Puri. It would have been lovely if we had coffee.
- Bodbe Monastery
Tumblr media
- Vineria- we had our lunch here , their food is really great . Superb .
- Vineria kakheti - We also did our wine tasting here, and they were gracious enough to let us sample a wide choice of wines. As a result, we decided to purchase six bottles of wine to bring with us to the UAE. You should also try Cha Cha. They stated it wasn't powerful, but it certainly is for me. haha
Tumblr media
Day 3: Sighnaghi
-Sighnaghi Village or the city of love -I enjoy going here because the environment is pleasant, and you may choose to stroll or ride an ATV. But we like to stroll to observe the beauty of the hamlet; they also offer ziplines.
-Georgia's Great Wall - if you start, you must finish all the way to the end. There's no turning back. We simply did it, and it was well worth it.
Tumblr media
We arrived at the hotel at 4 p.m., slept briefly, and then chose to eat supper at Pasanauri restaurant, as my friends had advised us to eat pork in Georgia. It did not disappoint us; it was quite excellent and tender. Unfortunately, we cannot have this in the UAE.
Day 4:  Mtskheta and Old Tblisi
-Jvari Monastery
-Aragvi and Mtkvari Rivers
-Svetitskhoveli Monastery - It was pouring when we arrived, and the monastery was under renovation, but we still managed to shoot several images before leaving.
Tumblr media
-Old Tblisi - It was intended to be free on the first day of the trip, but because we came late, we did it on the last day, which was still free; unfortunately, we were unable to experience their famed sulphur bath because we had a flight that afternoon. But you gotta try!!
Tumblr media
We returned to the hotel at 2, checked out, and waited for the bus to bring us up. We decided to eat lunch at the airport as we waited for our flight back to the UAE.
Here are our costing:

On the way to Kazbegi, Located 3.6 km from Gudauri, Overlooking Devil’s Valley and artificial lake  is the “ Friendship Monument” also known as "Monument of Peace". The forms of the monument belong to prominent Georgian architect George Chakhava.
The monument was built in 1983 by the Soviet Union in Georgia. It is dedicated to the celebration of the 200th anniversary Georgievski Treaty and of Georgia-Russia friendship. The monument is one of the interesting examples of Soviet modernism.
The growing influence of Iran and the Ottomans threatened Georgia's statehood. In this situation, the only solution for King Erekle II of Kartli and Kakheti was to strengthen ties with Russia.
Inside the Friendship monument is a large tile mural that spans the whole circumference of the structure and depicts scenes of Georgian and Russian history and It tells us about "friendly" relationships - from the time the treaty was concluded, to the moment it was built. It’s divided into two parts, on one side of the monument  you see Russian part and on the other Georgian.

Explore The Best Facts About ‘BiplaceEn Parapente’
Biplace en Parapente is a French term meaning tandem paragliding. Paragliding is a free flight of the aircraft launched on afoot. A tandem paraglider is made for two people — the rider and the passenger. For paragliding tandem flights, the rider is dressed in the harness just in front of an experienced pilot.
Paragliding in tandems is an unforgettable thrill. Wondering you don’t have any experience? By the way, you don't need any such experience before, since one of the accomplished paraglider pilots will help you take your first flight. He will do all the hard work. You have to run away and then sit back and relax and admire stunning views after you've been fitted into your belt. Yeah, don't miss your camera's smile!
Tumblr media
Is ‘BiplaceEn Parapente’ Safe?
In general, paragliding is a very safe game and the rules and regulations are followed. And if you're in a country where driving isn't safe, paragliding is probably more reliable. But you should also note that paragliding is a sport that checks your endurance and sometimes can have severe consequences should you start feeling overconfident and don’t follow some basic rules.
Tumblr media
                                           Biplace en Parapente
Is There Any Weight Limit?
For paragliding tandems, there is no weight limit as long as the wind is sufficient. However, tandems operate somewhat differently, so passengers are usually restricted to 175 lbs or less.
The Seven Best Sites For Paragliding:
•   Interlaken, Switzerland
•   San Gil, Colombia
•   Oludeniz, Turkey
•   Pokhara, Nepal
•   Valle de Bravo, Mexico
•   CanoaQuebrada, Brazil
•   Gudauri, Georgia
What Are You Up To?
Overall, tandem paragliding is a fun sport that you should at least go for once in your lifetime. Because the fun you get in paragliding is hardly as much as in any other game. It is an adventurous sport. However, you are advised to take some precautions. Follow the instructions and manual given by your instructor so that no untoward incident occurs.

Exploring Georgia in just Two Days!
A quick escape to the birthplace of wine, fantastic mountain scenery and cobblestoned old town.
Being an expat in Middle East, the benefit of having two days off at work is to travel to a nearest tourist destination like Georgia. A quick escape to the birthplace of wine, fantastic mountain scenery and cobblestoned old town.
As they said, unplanned trip is always the best and this trip is one of them. In just a week to prepare and plan for the itinerary, with the last minute of tour guide recommendation, it is a relief to our transportation as our plan to rent a car is a bit out of budget.
I highly recommend this local tour guide named Irakli which I contacted only by fb messenger. You check his page here for tour rates and other inquiry. I gave him my itinerary and he share his recommendation which I like without any second thought although there are places that I will not be able to visit because that two days tour in Gudauri, Kakheti region and Tbilisi is quite impossible. But to our surprise and with his effort it became possible. You just have to tell your tour guide if you want a relaxed tour or extreme. For us it’s extreme, we are able to do almost everything in the North of Georgia for a day.
THE TOUR:
Day 1 in the North:
Jinvali Dam - sightseeing, free entrance
Ananuri Castle - free entrance, castle view of Aragvi River
Pasanauri River – this is where we did the Water Rafting, 250$ for 3 persons and free for our tour guide
Russia-Georgia Friendship Monument - sightseeing, free of charge
Mineral Spring
Gudauri - for paragliding 250$/person
Day 2 Wine Tour:
Wine tour in Kakheti modern wine factory
Vineyards - we just stopped in one of the wineyards on the way.
Sighnaghi Fortress
Sighnaghi Great Wall
Bodbe Monastery
*All of the above tour is free entrance.
Day 2 extras (which is not in the itinerary but Irakli still wants us to go to the places we planned to visit):
The Bridge of Peace
Rike Park
Cable Car to Narikala Fortress
Leghvtakhevi Waterfall
Walk to Erekle St.
 FOOD
After a long day of tour, our guide take us to one of the best restaurants to try their traditional food. The Salobie restaurant located in old capital of Mtshketa is where we ate the delicious Khinkali and Khachapuri. Great food with low prices. And oh! We tried their locally made brandy, the Chacha. It I was so strong to the point that my friend got drunk in two shots 😊
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation is cheap, we rented an apartment for $72 for 3 nights for 3 persons and the location is next to Rustaveli Metro where you can have a morning walk in Shota Rustaveli Avenue down to the Bridge of Peace. I suggest that you find a hotel or apartment that has a full room and a separate living room so you can prepare your morning stuff without disturbing your friends while they are still sleeping.
Overall expenses for 3 persons excluding the Air Ticket is 850$.
Is it worth the money and time? YES!

Travel Diaries: Georgia, Day 2 - The mountains in Georgia are insanely gorgeous!
These initial photos are merely an introduction on the beautiful landscape of Georgia. The mountains are certainly a highlight, but there’s so much more and hopefully I’ll be able to showcase that in this photo series. I travelled almost 3000km around the country, from the capital to the Black Sea and up the mountain regions, then I visited the desert, the vineyards, the caves… And this was me simply scratching the surface.
I think I’ll publish my photos in triplets, 3 photos per theme: intro (the current triplet), moody, sunset, quirky, etc. Hopefully, this will help everybody appreciate what the country has to offer and will make you book your next holiday here. Georgia has amazing potential, and needs all the (good) tourism it can get. I’ll share more details in my coming blog posts…
For now, enjoy some flying around… ☺️
